OnePlus Rosewood Case Review - OnePlus 3 Accessories

Feel free to ask questions about my thoughts on this case!

Just got my rosewood case in the mail yesterday. Love the look and feel it gives the phone and the camera bump being flush is a plus

Yeah I agree, much better than loads of other cases

Also if you actually look up the company that makes the cases for Oneplus and how they manufacture them its pretty neat!
Very thin real wood veneer formed with Kevlar fiber material and they claim zero interference with signal as well???

If only oneplus could create a phone with WiFi that wasn't terrible

I'm on my fifth day with my OP3. I must say overall I am quite satisfied. I too ordered a wood case except I opted for the Bamboo. I must say thus far the case seems to be very well built and looks amazing. I know that this thread is about the Rosewood case but I would assume that similar processes are used in the production of all of OP's wood cases. I didn't know that Kevlar was somehow involved in the laminating and fabrication process. Thats definitely interesting.
Again, while the looks and style of the Rosewood and Bamboo cases are obviously a bit different I think its fair to view them as basically the same for all practical purposes. I was pleasantly surprised by it's thickness or lack thereof. Coming from a not-so-water-resistant 2015 Moto X Pure this phone, even with the case, feels extremely thin and light. Hopefully the wood cases can stand up to daily wear and tear as well as the accidental drop from time to time. All things considered I am very impressed with not only the case, but the phone as well. Sure there were a few compromises from my MXPE(Camera, Flash, no SD, no 2k display, no front facing speakers) but in many respects I this device to be superior.
As to Lordred's comment all I can say is I feel ya bro! My Wifi(802.11n 2.4/5Ghz) is constantly throwing a '!' on my OP3's WiFi icon which causes me to need to disable and then re-enable my OP3's WiFi. It's been a giant PITA thus far as has been BT pairing with my ZenWatch 2. I guess I'm going to have to analyze my WiFi spectrum later today wheb I get home and maybe tweak some settings on my AP.

I know it's not a case related question, but what do you have protecting your op3 screen?

For now just the stock screen protector that came on the phone. Once it starts actually showing marks I'll replace it with something better

Video Review: Speck FitFolio Case

Hey fellas,
Got my hands on the new Speck FitFolio case for the Nexus 7. As the name states, this is a folio style case that offers great protection and also added functionality. Due to the hard plastic and leather design, your Nexus 7 is kept safe and snug within the case. Similarly, you can use the included flaps to prop your Nexus 7 up into several angles for typing and viewing movies, which comes in really handy! Although the case is 35$, which is a premium price to pay, the high quality build and increased functionality really make it a compelling buy.
Check out the full video review below;
Its a great little case, I love mine. You can get them on amazon for $19.95. For that price, well worth it.

That's an awesome video review. Can't wait till mine arrives.

Thanks guys. It's definitely the best I've used for the Nexus 7 so far.
good review and it look pretty solid for the price
I got mine in on the 23rd as well and the quality of the case blew me away, by FAR the nicest case for any phone or tablet I've seen. Very ultra premium look and feel and functionally it does exactly what it should.
Another benefit is when its closed it looks more like a notebook/journal than any kind of device so its a little safer sitting out. I would recommend this case to anyone without hesitation.
I have this case and love it as well, but I have to say the quality control isn't the best. My first case looked amazing from the front, but on the back, the part where the plastic shell meets the leatherette front flap wasn't the neatest looking. Not terrible, just a bit of excess glue and the upper left corner wasn't glued in uniformly and there was a small section that was raised up. I ordered a replacement case, and that one was perfect looking all the way around, but the magnet must have been in a different position because it never woke my screen. I ordered a third replacement case, and that one had an even uglier back than the first one, with lots of little uneven areas where the flap wasn't glued neatly to the case.
I'm not expecting perfection or anything, but 3 cases with 3 quality issues is kind of a bummer, so I emailed Speck to let them know, and ask if there was a way to ensure I'd get a case without any issues if I took the plunge and ordered a 4th one.
I never heard back from them, so I decided just to keep the first one since it was the best of the 3, and return the other two, but I still wish I would have received SOME kind of response, even if it was just a "There's always going to be small defects because X manufacturing process" or "We weren't aware of any quality control issues, we'll look into it", or even "Sorry, we can't guarantee you'll get a case without some raised edges/extra glue/a functioning magnet, etc." Any response at all would have been nice.
It's still my favorite Nexus 7 case so far, I just wanted to let people know that the quality control might be a little lacking. It seems like nobody else has been reporting any issues with their case, but I think 3 for 3 might be indicative of an issue. Either that or I'm just insanely unlucky.

It sounds like either you're insanely unlucky or I'm terribly lucky! I was sent out 3 for review from Speck, and all of them are in great condition. Some of my viewers have purchased the case as well, and haven't mentioned any issues. I would continue trying to get a functional model, Speck is usually great with their customer service.

Review: Poetic Affinity case

I just received this case in the mail and I'm already loving it. The case design is really nice. I have the black sapphire phone and received the frosted clear case. It matches really well, but it would probably have matched with the black much better. The clear case shows off the sexiness of the note 5. The branding on the case isn't too overwhelming. There's a P in the middle that is right between the words Samsung and Galaxy Note 5. It kind of looks perfect sitting there. It's also branded with Poetic near the bottom of the case. I kind of wish it wasn't there. Rather it had been clear instead. The name of the case, Affinity, is on the side of the case. The case is nice and grippy and it doesn't hurt the hands at all. The back X design looks like a normal design but it serves a purpose. The corners of the X are used for bumper protection and the lines running up and down the case is used to raise the phone from a flat surface a bit. Most of the cut outs are aligned pretty accurately, with the exception of the bottom speaker. The holes are not quite aligned. I don't think it will take away any sound quality but I'm a stickler for perfection sometimes and it bothered me a little. The frost on the sides of the case kind of takes away the silver metal trimming of the phone, but overall it's still a very nice case. I have had Poetic cases before and have never been disappointed. I can highly recommend them.

Even the manufacturers of some of these cases that everyone is reviewing here have asked to keep the reviews all in one thread. Just a thought to keep the clutter at a minimum. Also it makes it easier for people who are looking for a review of a case to read through one thread rather than 4 or 5 or 6 or more....
No one said you aren't entitled to your own review. Just don't know why you need your own thread to do so. [emoji53]

I received mine as well and I like the build quality of this device. I will say that I recieved this case for free, but I will try to be as objective as I can about the case.
Protection:
Its a step above a TPU only plastic case, with clear material on this less likely contact areas to show off the phone, and black "rubberized" bumper integrated to give more structural protection. Where you might crack the corners on a tpu case, the bumper will protect the phone, offer better shock protection and most likely allow the case to survive some impacts. The bumper also crosses along the back of the case and is raised up a little so that the clear plastic doesnt touch the surface, reducing scratches. The bumper around the screen is raised above the device about 1mm or so, which will provide some additional screen protection. The buttons are sealed inside the bumper case, which is nice to prevent dust build up and also protect the switches from impact.
Look:
I got the black and clear. The clear plastic lets me see the good looks of the phone, and the bumper material gives the case a tougher look.
Function:
Buttons work normally, with no weirdness. The cutouts for the speakers dont seem to be ligned up with the holes on the speaker, but I cant tell if there really is any reduction in sound quality. The cut out for the stylus is open enough to not make it a pain to get the pen, without sacrificing protection, as far as I can tell. mini usb and headphones jacks are also easily reached.
The sides of the case along the sides has textured slashes that greatly improve the grip, which I really like. What I dont like is that compared to a slim case, you are adding some size to the width of the phone, but its definatly a trade off given the step up on protection vs a thinner plastic case, or none at all.
Last, wireless charging worked as normal. Reception for wifi and cell service was unaffected.
Whats good:
Step up in protection from a thin plain plastic case, build quality is great.
Whats not:
Makes the phone larger than naked or with a thin case. A tad heavier than one as well.
I would use this case mostly if I know the device is going to be in harsher conditions than day to day. I use a thin case for work, and I use no case at home.
Here's my review to keep things together and in one place
First off the case itself looks fantastic, perhaps a little light on my black phone but that is personal preference, because it is actually protective and not just a thing clean skin it does show and lightens the color overall. That said the design is good and actually looks nice, it has raised edges that are opaque that will help prevent the rest of the case from scratching and keep its looks.
I actually spent a good five days with the case before writing my review to see how it held up and I am very happy with it so far, I am likely going to keep it on for at least another week and then update this review, of course it may stay on longer than that but I often switch up cases so we will see. The ease of pushing buttons even compared to my Tech 21 case is very impressive.
Pros:
The buttons are very responsive, much more so than the other cases I have tried.
The amount of grip the case adds is great, yet it still slide in and out of my pocket easily.
It will draw looks, the phone already does on its own and this case mostly highlights its features.
Cons:
It would look better on a white note than a black one.
Nothing else I have found so far.
Yeah, received mine yesterday so opinion may change, but here it goes for my initial review.
So far this is one of my top favorite cases that I have. Not nearly as slippery as the Obliq Case that I ordered. The only thing I miss, and this is personal opinion, is a built in kickstand, but I also realize that can add a little on the cost. Either way though the flow and the grip of the case work fairly well.
Pros:
Less slick than the clear Obliq case which is nice considering the other one would just slide right on out of your pocket.
Has nice grip on the sides and the buttons work nicely as well.
Like the clear case with black
Cutouts are where they should be and work just fine
Cons:
None really, maybe a slight concern on being able to see any and all scratches the case gets, but that is what cases are for
One of the best
Here is my review of this case as well copied from Amazon after using the case for the past week.
This is one of the best cases I have used so far for the Note 5, and I have tried/used a lot of them.
Pros:
1. Protective without adding much bulk
2. Cut out for S Pen is perfect
3. Adds much needed grip to a slippery phone
4. Lets the beauty of the phone show through
Cons:
1. Hole cutouts for the speaker holes don't line up perfectly
This case really is a nice one, and for the price, you are getting a great case. I have the clear/black case, and really like the style that it adds to the phone. I have a slickwraps skin on the back of the phone, and it shows through nicely thanks to this design. I absolutely love the little grip edges that they put on this case. It maintains comfort in the hand, while adding some much needed grip. The cut out for the S-pen is ample and makes it very easy to press the clicking mechanism to get the pen out. What makes this case protective is what Poetic has done here with the corners of the case. The corners are nicely reinforced, and should provide some nice shock protection to the phone if it is ever dropped (I hope mine never is, but it is nice to have the protection.) The only real con I could find with this case is that for some reason, Poetic decided to make individual hole cutouts for the speaker section of the phone. For whatever reason though, those holes in the case do not line up with the speaker holes themselves and are off set from each other. Maybe Poetic should have just had one large cutout here for the speaker. Despite that mis-alignment however, the case does not seem to impede the sound at all.
Overall this case is a big win and I highly recommend it.
Disclaimer: I was provided this case by the manufacturer for review at no cost. However, this has not influenced my review in the slightest, and I do still highly recommend it.
How much actual width does it add to the device? I'm looking to get a Qi cradle for my car and need to know if it will work with this case on.
Someone give it a quick measure for me, please? Thanks in advance!
t.
I sent mine back, scratches just looking at the thing. Really a shame because I actually liked the case.

Review- 5ive Aluminum Metal Case

Ordered this case after seeing it on amz traders, figured I would try it. Here's my amazon review.
Great protective case, honestly it's probably the most protective I have ever used. It includes a thick, seems to me, plastic screen protector that's glued in, has covers over all the ports and a swinging mechanism over the 3.5 jack. I have large hands and had to struggle a bit to remove the S-Pen but not horribly, the charging cover is a bit stiff requiring several attempts to get it open in order to charge the phone. I do not have wireless charging currently so couldn't test that.
The buttons all work properly, a bit stiff but imagine they will break in a bit over time. It takes a bit to get your phone in this case, 4 screws and several minutes, it is not a quick change case. You put it in this case when you know you'll need it, hiking, constriction work, biking etc.
Lastly is the weight, it's heavy. Double the weight of the phone heavy. With all that said, for a protective case you are not going to beat it, it's that solid. It sounds like I don't like the case but I do, I wouldn't call it an everyday day case with the weight but I am certain it would protect my phone in all conditions I could find myself in. I did not remove my tempered glass screen protector prior to putting it in the case which I am sure probably make things a bit tighter but most of my cases do not have one built in so I'll keep it on.
Link to amazon
I noticed the Amazon listing mentions a tempered glass screen protector but you said it's plastic.

Yeah, I think it's plastic tho. It's pretty thick, doesn't sound like glass when tapping my fingernail.
Holy crap that thing is ugly. Looks like it was take right from a Transformers movie. Why buy such a sleek and nice phone just to slap it with so much uglyness?
They might rule in advertising, but I would bet Spigen sells a lot more cases than Otterbox does. I see hardly anybody with an Otterbox, but people who do have them it is very obvious and noticeable because they're enormous and look absurd, especially large phones like the Note. It looks different than a normal case that most people have, which is why it's a conversation piece and people know the name. However, even with the size, at least Otterbox makes decent looking cases of high quality. This thing is fugly with those black accents and ugly 5ive logo printed on.
Is there even access to the s-pen?

Yes, the red lever thing swings open and allows access. Honestly, I sent it back to amazon. It just made the phone too heavy to actually use, intact it fell out of my hand because of the weight. It's a shame because it was definitely a change from the normal cases on the market.

LOL, I didn't mind the look so much as I wanted protection. I work in construction and welding, lost several phones to drops that normal cases just can't protect from.

Thanks, that makes absolutely sense. I absolutely understand that for some users it is imperative to have protection and that looks are 100% secondary.
I just donĀ“t understand most people that pack their phones into such things while sitting at a desk the whole day.
In your case, 100% agree.

I ended up getting this case thru AMZ. I took a very sharp knife point to the screen protector and couldn't scratch it, so it may actually be glass.
I got this too, but haven't actually received it yet. shipped from china and its taking forever to get here!!

LUVVITT Clear Grip (Case Review)

I don't know if this case has been reviewed yet or not but I just got it today. I had to find a case quick and it needed to be cheap since I don't know if I'll be getting the HTC 10 or LG G5. It also needed to be available for same day Amazon shipping since I couldn't go another day without a case. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to use this phone without a case but it's design makes it a little difficult for me. My palm is always touching the screen which causes some minor issues but my biggest complaint is while playing a game such as Trials Frontier. When playing a game like this, it starts to become uncomfortable after just 5 minutes of play. It's most likely due to the phones thin edges which are rounded but still sharp when holding it horizontally.
Anyway, this case fixed all of my issues. It still keeps the phone very thing but it provides just enough thickness to the edges to make the phone feel more comfortable when using. The case itself feels well made but I suppose there isn't much to screw up with a TPU case. All of the cutouts match up and the buttons stay very crisp. The case provides a nice grip without providing to much grip to where it becomes an issue sliding your phone in and out of your pockets. The actual fit of the case is very snug but it's still easy to remove. I suppose if you keep on removing it and installing it, there is a possibility it could become loose.
In regards to protection it's not going to work any miracles but I'm sure it would provide some kind of protection during drops. It's a super thin case that has the corners slightly raised. They are raised just enough to keep the display off of a hard surface if the phone falls face down or if you like keeping your phone face down on the table. These raised corners however only slightly sit above the front glass so dropping it on an uneven surface such as asphalt could have dire consequences. The back is no problem at all as the raised corners give the back glass more clearance.
If you're looking for a crystal clear super thin case that offers nice grip, decent protection and allows you to showcase this nice looking phone then you might be interested in it. If you care more about protection than the way your phone looks and feels then this probably isn't the case for you.
You can pick it up on Amazon for $12.99 (PRIME Eligible.)
Side Note: The Edge display keeps full functionality if that's important to you.

Does the back have texture? Does part of the phones glass back stick to it at all?
Also btw the sale on these cases (including the normal clear one) are still going on with the code SLICK007

I don't know what kind of deal that coupon code gets you but it its $10 or less then I'd definitely get one. I needed the case same day shipped through Amazon Prime so I just paid full price.

can you detail your opinions about the build and pros cons of the Luvvitt cases.
Bought sleek armor and aside from the lack of lip it seems like a nice low profile case with some protection. Just dont like the fact that the phone when face down with the case does not have enough lip to protect the screen.
The home button rest directly on the surface.Testing this out I caused micro scratches on the home button which is naturally a bit raised.
Would love pics and opinions on what yours are like...

[Review] Noreve Ambition Leather Pouch

Hi guys and gals, it's been a while since I've done a case review and this time it's a case from French manufacturer Noreve, who are known for their hand made, premium and genuine leather cases.
This time around I decided to go for a pouch, as I wanted something different, and was also curious as to how it was going to be crafted, since these are all hand made. Why the pouch, you ask? Well I just think they look great. While not the most practical of cases maybe, as you have to take the device out each and every time you want to use it, and you can't use the always on display, I just think it looks elegant. Going out for the night? Throw this case on. I've found it to be great since you're not distracted when any notifications come in, and when you put it on a table, it just looks elegant like most other phone cases simply do not. I'm not a big fan of plastic cases because they make the device look cheap. Think about it, you buy a phone for nearly $800, then you put a $5 plastic case on it, which just looks terrible. In my opinion, it totally takes away from the phones metal and glass construction. Also with the S7 Edge, I love the way it feels in the hand naked, and with this case you always have that experience.
As always, this case from Noreve is also exceptionally well made. It took a few weeks for it to arrive, since they only start making them once you order one, and depending on the finish, it can take longer or shorter. But normally it's about two weeks, which is perfectly fine for a custom made, leather case.
Unboxing a Noreve case is always an event. It comes in a very handsome red box, which is sealed by plastic wrap. Inside the box, you'll find a protective red pouch for your case - this is a very nice touch, and I love that they do this, when they really don't have to. But the devil is in the details. Inside the pouch, you'll find your case - and the first thing that you'll probably notice is the brilliant smell of genuine leather. It just adds something to the overall experience that I enjoy.
The case is made exceptionally well. Noreve cases have always been constructed with very high attention to detail, but I believe it's even higher now as there are no flaws with the case whatsoever. Because this is a pouch style case, there are no cut outs for the camera, power or volume rocker buttons. None for the micro USB or headphone jack, either. The only cut outs are for the speakers on the bottom. I think this is perfectly fine, and whenever I wanted to charge the phone or plug in some headphones, I'd just reverse the phone and put it into the pouch in reverse. I found this to be a practical and easy solution.
In conclusion, I am pretty much blown away by this company yet again. Never received a bad case from them, they only seem to get better. Mine is in the Ambition (grained leather) finish, but Norever offer a whole bunch of different finishes which you can also then customize. Basically, the sky is the limit. These guys can do whatever you want. They're a bit on the pricey side (my case was $45.40 - free shipping with DHL) but as we all know, you get what you pay for. This is not one of those Chinese made, fake leather cases which will rip and tear after a few months. Hell, I'm still using the one I have for my Galaxy Nexus, which should say something.
Here are some pictures below of this beauty. Thank you all for reading, and here's a link to their product page.
Cheers.

The inner material is also leather, but more of a matte leather with the company logo branded into it. I'll try to get a picture up for you, but I haven't had any problems with it scratching the screen.

Honestly to me that looks like a recipe for disaster. If anything like a grain of sand gets in it, you are running the screen down the inside material and it could scratch it.
