Anyone know how long it usually takes to get posted on the Asus support page? My bootloader is unlocked too.

Can anyone post a step-by-step guide on how to update the firmware manually? I have stock lollipop right now but unfortunately Im on an unlocked bootloader and have TWRP. OTA is a no go.

I'm not sure if this works with an unlocked bootloader or not. But I would go to Asus website and download the MM update if it is listed now on your PC. Then plug in your phone and place the update in the root of your internal storage. Do not put in a folder. I use ES file explorer. After you unplug your phone, a short while later you should get a notification of an available update. Install the update. It will take a while. My beta MM on my ZE551ML took almost 20 minutes.

I just realized that you have twrp recovery. You will have to download the last official update of LP and extract the recovery and flash it first. I think this should work. There is a post on this forum telling how to do this.

Thanks friend, I was really looking a post like this, the problem is I have no idea how to get the stock recovery as I'm already on TWRP. Is there a guide on how to get the stock recovery on the official firmware zip download?

You need to flash the stock recovery back. Can be done with the TWRP.

Has anyone with unlocked bootloader tried sideloading the firmware from the Asus Selfie site? I still have stock recovery but am nervous about using firmware that is not specifically ze551kl (not posted in Asus site yet).

I have similar issues with my phone.. the zenfone 2 laser ze551kl with unlocked bootloader and manual firmware updates.. I am currently using firmware Version WW-21.40.1220.1615(andriod M) and so far only having one annoying issue with a popup notification that keeps telling me to enable device protection, because the old version of protection is void, and to go to settings>account.. and removing my google account, and that it would activate the new version when I add the same -aka- preferred google account back to the account area. Which hasn't worked to fix any of that issue, no matter how many times I try or what I have try that is different... Which is why I am hoping that by going up to the next version might fix that problem some how... But at the moment the only thing official on the asus page is the kernel source code for the new firmware update, which hasn't been released to download as an official firmware update yet, well at least not for people like me that don't know what the heck to do with a source code, except maybe use it as an example to try and learn from. -- asus .com/us/Phone/ZenFone-2-Laser-ZE551KL/HelpDesk_Download/.

The D build is the one that Sprint users have received via OTA. I'm personally using the "I" build whose radio is the same as D. The " E" build is supposedly for Verizon users and the "M" build is for T-Mobile. If anything, consider using the "I" build.
Since you're unlocked, download the factory image and use fastboot to flash the files separately. Don't flash userdata and you won't lose your data. The instructions for this method have been posted numerous times but you can find them in the factory images thread in general.
---------- Post added at 08:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:09 PM ----------
Also, questions go in the Q&A forum, not in general.
I agree with evolution , I am also using the I build and my battery life has been great. No problems at all only I'm an att customer switching to tmo or sprint soon.

Just finished flashing and restoring. So far so good. Anyone have a changelog for this update?
I'm currently on PD6. Can I flash this on top of that via odin or are there incremental updates I need to do prior to this? Thanks for the guidance!

Question about updating
Hi, first post on xda.
My phone is an AT&T version but I live in AU, and I want to update it to marshmallow from what it is currently on (5.1.1), and it won't update since I'm not in the U.S.
It's currently on AUCU3BO12.
Can I flash this PG1 without upgrading to anything else first? Can it go from 5.1.1 to 6.0.1 directly from BO12? (According to AT&T's website, BO12 is a bit down the line in terms of updates, there have been a number since).
Edit: Also, which .tar file do I use out of the 4?
Thanks!
Does anyone know the answer to the above?
Finally unbricked my G920 Samsung Galaxy S6 with this
Thank you so much for this. I bricked my phone by stupidly flashing a 5.1 firmware and i've been scrambling to fix it for about a week now. And I couldn't find these files anywhere. Thank you so much

Flashed on mine (BOI2, 5.1.1) and it's stuck in the samsung galaxy s6 powered by android screen.
Already restarted to recovery and wiped cache partition and factory reset from there. Still stuck in boot screen...
Any help?
EDIT: Flashed all 4 files this time and it worked. Only flashed the AP file the first time (which people all over the internet say you only need to do) but I had to flash all 4 and now it works. Thank you!

From my understanding, you just need firmware files which are meant to your device variant/region, and you can go back to stock.
And i don't think Motorola will ever change their mind and update it to P.
You will have custom Pie ROM if you want. Otherwise Oreo is last.
[For More, Your question is not clear, can you explain it so we can help you correctly.]
We dont even even officially have oreo , your looking beyond that? Lol

A few dies I've saw a thread here on xda that if you download a folder, paste at the root location of the phone and search for updates the update to android 8 will show up. I can't find this thread that's because I'm here, to know if someone have the files and if it's compatible with my g5s plus (that's why I wrote my phone infos)

What !!!!!!!!!
I have never seen such folder which can trick your phone for OTA !!
There are 3 ways to get OREO,
1) unlock bootloader and install custom ROM.
2) we have soak test zip, install it. (If you install soak zip, you will need to go back to official firmware to take future releases..)
3) register for updates which are soak tests, mfn on Motorola site.
I think he is talking abt
1) dwnld the stock 8.1 rom
2) push to mobile storage in specific folder using adb
3) check on mobile-system update-and it wil show u update
4) restart.
Something like this i think.

This firmware was only captured for only 2 firmwares on the s9 side
I looked for the s9+ also but like ya said its not there yet my guess its not on the s9 server yet or could be a different build number but I wouldn't figure
I would look up your build and android 9 is a 2GB size firmware look for the newest by month and date under the firmware you are on now

If u want to get pie, u have to get the ARI6 Odin files which are about 4GB. This is an Oreo file with September Patch. The subsequent update files on SamsungFirmwareScience is all you would need going forward after that to upgrade to Pie and other Patches if u choose to stay on Oreo. You just need to take a leap of faith and downgrade to ARI6 using the Patched Odin by Thomas or so 3.13.3

And I could just sideload the unlocked version of the ARI6 file? Like I wouldn't need carrier specific? According to SamMobile, there's no ARI6 for the Sprint (cdma) it only goes up go ARI4

All Samsung firmware are not carrier specific. Now how your phone works with the firmware is totally unknown to me. Sprint is weird since it's a cdma network. If u were on a GSM network i would have said it's as easy as pie. But to answer your question yes, it's simple as pie to just download Odin and ari6, put your phone in download mode, load the files to Odin (if u want to retain your sprint software use HOME_CSC rather than CSC) then run the update files from there using adb sideload from the recovery menu

How I got the One UI Beta on my Verizon Note 9

Here is how I got the One UI Beta on my Verizon Branded Note 9 960U. (This process should work on any U Note 9, or even the S9/S9+)
Things you will need:
The patched ODIN software found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/patched-odin-3-13-1-t3762572 Thanks realbbb
The XAA ARH2 firmware build. (sorry i dont have a link for that one as i dont have anywhere to host a file right now. google for it)
The apk for the beta Samsung+ app. (again, google for it, its hosted a few places)
The process I followed to get the Beta is as follows:
install the U1 firmware with the patched Odin
install the beta Samsung+ apk
open Samsung+ and opt into the beta
Run through the OTAs one at a time until the beta installed (i think there were 4 OTAs to install)
THIS DOES NOT ROOT YOUR PHONE, NOR DOES IT TRIP KNOX AS THE SOFTWARE YOU ARE RUNNING IS STILL SAMSUNG OFFICIAL SOFTWARE
Using the XAA firmware for the first step removed the Verizon bloatware and boot animation from my device, I now have the generic Samsung pulsing logo boot animation. The phone does now think it is the U1 variant, so in the about phone section it identifies that way. All of my Verizon apps still work. Voicemail works if you install Samsung voicemail app from galaxy apps. I did lose wifi calling, but I have good cell reception, so i didn't need it.
What if I already have the unlocked version?

You should be able to opt in from the Samsung+ app.

Not seeing it on the home screen. Either not available for Verizon or the beta has closed.
Why do we need another thread of the same thing??

Beta is closed. If you're on U1 ARJ9, then you can manually flash the beta build through firmware.science.

Thanks bud!
Hey I recently got my note 9 and don't have expirence with Odin or the different firmware versions as I come from an unlocked pixel 2 could someone explain if this will wipe my phone and if there are any common mistakes I could screw up?
Tried something similar and messed up something and my phone went into an infinite boot loop that I couldn't recover from. T-mobile sent me another phone. [emoji23]
Not worth the risk. I have a pie theme installed and it looks very close to the real pie update.

here is the firmware i used
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-note9/SM-N960U1/XAA/download/N960U1UEU1ARH2/231820/
and, after having this thread closed and then re-opened. I can confirm that I am, in fact, part of the beta (similar how-tos use method that just flashes the beta firmware which leaves you high and dry for future OTAs) i have downloaded the beta 2 release via OTA and submitted a few bug reports within the beta.
Is there a way to install this without the need of a PC?
