What's the best Camera App? - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

At the moment I'm using Google Camera because it's the "fastest" ̶o̶r̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ camera for my XT1068, but after like 10 mins with the Google Camera open the phone starts to overheat and lag a lot.
So what you think it's the fastest camera for Moto G 2014 ?

What's with the stock moto one? It's doing great , I just use Zoom when I need timelapse

personally i like moto g4's camera app

Razr camera?

anybody want to try to port the droid razrs camera to our phones
Next update will have camera tweaks judging from the 5.7 OTA update, similar to the razor camera software I would imagine if not a little better for our phone specifically.
The razor camera has nothing new, the Atrix camera has an increase in speed only cos it has no starting animation or load screen.

ya hopefully the droid 3s camera app is just so slow and laggy
The new Camera in 5.7.894 is not much better than 5.6.890.
I can confirm that the Atrix Camera is working EVEN BETTER but generally continuous autofocus while video recording was disabled.
I recommend using the Atrix Camera along with the dark light fps tweak.

Has anyone tried installing Miui on the XT860 (or D3 for that matter)?
I found an .apk for it but looks like it needs to be pushed to the system via adb. Is there a version that can just be installed as an additional camera app (and then use Titanium Backup to freeze the stock camera)?

Google camera versus Moto camera.

Title says it all. Which camera are you using and why? I like the quick launch of the moto camera, but I think that the google camera might take better pictures.
I'm with you, I actually just switched to the google camera I seem to be getting better pictures. I even disabled the moto camera and gallery gonna give it a run like this for awhile. I'm just holding out hope that android l will help with camera stuff
I did a small camera comparison here between Google and Moto Cameras - https://plus.google.com/photos/+TroyMcKeown/albums/6065236876032660257
Google really brightens is up a bit!
I just noticed that my phone was set to 9.7 megapixels by default. I just changed it to 13. Going to get google camera as well.

Photospheres with Moto X 2014

If I install the Google Camera from the play store so that I can do photospheres (and because I like it better) is there any harm in disabling the moto camera app in the applications menu?
Nope I have the moto camera and gallery disabled

Photosphere missing in default camera app.

I have a new motor x4 and while using the camera app cannot find the photosphere option anywhere. This is a Google phone so I cannot understand why such an important option is missing. Maybe I just don't know how to find it?

have you checked panorama mode? My Fi X4 has it.
It's missing in the default camera app but you can still make photoshperes with the Google Streetview App.

It's not a Google phone, nor is the camera app included from Google. You could port the modded GCam over to your device for better image and video quality, but I don't know what to tell you of the lack of a photosphere. If you mean the "tap anywhere to capture" feature, then that can be disabled in the camera's settings.
I also miss the photosphere function. Or, on other words, I do miss the official support from Google to Port the Google camera app to more devices.
Latest GCam has been modded to work with other devices under Android Nougat.
I am using that to make photosphere, but I can not import photospheres to G. cardboard viewer.
Moto X4 has a version of photosphere, more like a photocylnder
I just activated my Android One X4 last night, switch from Moto X2 and discovered this morning no obvious photosphere. very sad.
Turns out the Moto camera app (which updated last night) used panorama mode to replicate official sphere. If you take panorama with wide angle it captures a full 360 degrees. These images are then available for cardboard and other sphere viewing modes.
Sadly, or I haven't tried enough, it does not do up and down. Image is blurred above and below, which is a bit disappointing, but understandable.
My photosphere from Machu Picchu would have been lacking without seeing down into valleys below and beautiful sky above. My sphere of last year's eclipse from a cliff overlooking a lake in Wyoming would have been dull without eclipse in sky and terrain/lake below.
But I can guess 90% of spheres have sidewalk/grass below and sun glare above so ...
I could just explore app more and see if it can do it with some settings tweek.

Google camera problem

Everytime I click photo from Google camera the photo comes in black even after a good light. Can anyone suggest me a good Google camera or it is a Google camera problem
