This is where that happened, and there are already several threads discussing it.

Just curious

I am curious as to why it is so hard to root the note 3 on kit Kat? I have rooted phones for years, but by no means do I really know much about it other than reading rooting instructions on xda. Two days ago I rooted my fiance's S III and it couldn't have been easier. What makes rooting our phones on kit Kat so difficult. I'm just wondering. I guess if the answer was easy we would have a solution.

No exploits have been found to crack kitkat. Too secure.

In order to root a phone you need to find an exploit, or loophole in the system. The phones you previously rooted were simple because someone found that loophole and packaged a way for you to do it. As android develops it becomes more complex, and secure. Samsung also is growing and adding their new security feature called Knox. Don't forget at&t your carrier. They request Samsung to lock the bootloader. So now that there is all this code and security involved, root access is a pain in the a$$!

Bootloader unlock discussion for Galaxy S6 Edge Device

So, according to drakon.us, Samsung has provided factory bootloader unlocker in the Samsung App store.
Search for "CROM Service", You can see the process here:

I'm in preorder hell waiting for my gold S6E from Verizon so I can't verify independently. Is this something we can use?

I'd be interested to see if we could get our hands on that app. I've got some friends from Taiwan and Mainland that I could reach out to... Maybe one of them can grab it for us. Anyway, hope I'm not posting **** information here; definitely not my intent. What we do know however, that there is a factory unlocker out there. Whether it can work with our region is an unknown but, it might be worth a look.
I don't have much faith in the Verizon varient getting root. Going to take some getting used to cuz I've come from rooted phones since I entered the smartphone world.

This is definitely good info. I might try and get on chat with Samsung to see if they'd have a download link...probably a long shot, but worth it.
I won't hold my breath, but I'm interested in hearing how this goes as well. The lack of root on the Note 4 after being out since last year is keeping me from swapping out my s5 for a s6 edge.
This would be great, but alas I am sure Verizon has made steps to ensure that it wont be that easy for us!

They'll probably only allow it if you follow the designated bounty format. I believe @iamtheoneTheyCallNeo posted it.
It's nice to be hopeful, but it will most likely never happen. The galaxy s5 was up to 18k and nada, just root. The galaxy Notes are still locked up even.

Can't even get into bootloader mode.

The difference now is we are all running the same chip, and Samsung has released a bootloader unlock tool. So maybe we will get lucky and someone will hack the tool to work with our version of the s6.

6.0 OTA talk online may be out? Anyone get it

Says on plenty of reputable sites 6.0 started being sent out to tmobile s6 end edge Feb 15th
Anyone get this or can confirm if it's just soon to be or actually happening ?

Sources? Are you sure this is for the T-Mobile US version? I've read that certain countries have started the rollout but nothing for any US carriers yet, including T-Mobile US.

Can you upgrade from 5.1.1 using the XtreStoLite ROM to 6.0 or will that break my device and lose root?
Check the international S6 thread below. South Korea and Poland are the only countries with the update so far. Someone mentioned Italy this week, but I don't know if that's true.

Same here
I would like the root to the G925A. But I feel as though with each OTA update that AT&T sends out I get further away from a root. So, my first questions would be is there a way to stop the OTA updates? (The updates piss me off, because it is my phone, and they continue to update it without my permission.) Am I right in thinking that with each update, they tighten the security that prevents a root?
It's not just AT&T anymore. There is no root for any US carrier anymore. This is set in force by Samsung mostly to secure Samsung Pay as well as other mobile payments, etc. It's highly doubtful that going forward, any Samsung device will gain root on the future including the S6.

The Galaxy S6 line of phones use Samsung's Exynos not Qualcomm; this method wouldn't work.
