Can the S6 Active run Pokemon GO without Problems and the Phone still worth the cost? - Galaxy S6 Active

Pokemon GO was released some days ago, and I wanted to try it. Sadly my LG P880 4XHD is not beefy enough for the game, and since I am frustated with this 4 year old Smartphone for a while, I would like to buy a new one. I always set my eye on the S6 Active, and followed for month if a root would surface. Only now we have one, but only for 5.11 it seems. (Do you keep root, if you update to 6.0 afterwards btw?)
Since I live in Germany, I have to buy used S6 Actives from the EU. I probably would import a 32GB Version from the UK for 350€ (comparable to $350 after taxes).
So could anyone test, if Pokemon GO works on his S6 Active without a Problem, so that I am not suprised in the end, and would you still recommend buying one now, at this point of time.

I used Pokemon Go briefly a few days ago on my S6 Active. Worked fine. I deleted the game, not a fan.

DONT BUY!!!! runs horribly, cant do anything with it, i had 6 replacements so the durability is bull****, switched to normal s6, had for almost 3 months now, nothing bad happening to it!

Pokemon GO works fine.
I've had my S6 active for over a year now and haven't had any problems with it. It's a fast phone with great battery life!
Bill

im on s6 active 6.0.1 and the game works amazingly client sided.

Should I re-purchase the AT&T S5?

Back in April when the Samsung Galaxy S5 was first released, I purchased it via AT&T un-subsidized (no contract $649). I liked it a lot, however, I had a problem with the headphone jack. Basically, it was more loose than it should be. I returned the device and paid the ridiculous $35 restocking fee. I then tried the T-Mobile S5 on AT&T, but didn't have the best luck with reception (maybe I'm just super picky). So now, towards the end of June I am once again am tempted by the S5. I had used Nova Launcher so the device was very speedy.
Any suggestions on what to do?
P.S. I have tried the M8, and while I love how well it performs, I found the build to be quite slippery. I would also be getting the S5 full price.

My headphone jack is decent enough, no complaints. However, I'll never miss an opportunity to plug the Nexus 5. Much cheaper, and word on the street is it's about to be released in yellow!

I highly recommend it. I have mine rooted and I have pretty much every feature possible, no bugs or anything (except for Private Mode not working). Its very fast, never slows down on me, and you really can't beat the battery life (6-7 hours screen on time). Samsung really did a good job with this phone, and I feel that it's their first phone since the S2 that really got everything right. I will probably keep mine for a very long time.

I'd recommend the tmobile one again. If you want to do any true customizing (root unlocking bootloader which its already unlocked) you can freely. Also tmobile variant is fully compatible with AT&T. My two cents.

While I understand that, I am really not into rooting/flashing roms anymore. I also noticed that LTE signal strength was not great when using AT&T service on T-Mobile's S5.

I think a lot of people will be asking the question now that root and ROMs are available.

I have a Galaxy S5 and a Note 3. Both are set up the same (Launcher, apps , root, etc). I have notice that the Note 3 is faster (loading apps, going to settings menu) than the S5. In Antutu the S5 has hire score but in 3DMark the Note 3 has higher score. Do you think this is normal or is there something wrong with my S5.?

Note 3 has higher specs like 3 GB RAM, to name one. So I think it is normal.

Tab S 32GB, late to the party review

I had the Note 2014 32GB since launched, but wanted something smaller and lighter and no light bleed. I held off getting this until the 32GB was offered and when on sale. Bought this from Best Buy last week for $100 off sale.
This is the best tablet I have owned and I have had a lot of them. I prefer this overall to my iPad Air 128gb, but like both ecosystems. The Tab S 8.4 reminds me of a giant version of my Note 4. I went ahead and bought this now, since will use a lot for movies and prefer the wider screen instead of 4:3 that the new Tab S2 is going to have. My iPad is 4:3, so one is enough in that format
Decided not to update my Tab and leaving it on 4.4.2 (disabled updating in options), since want Flash to work. Flash content works GREAT on the Tab S, but my Note 4 is Lollipop and Flash does not work on it. I wish I did not update it, but thought I needed to for some Gear VR function- I was WRONG. Lollipop sucks IMO, but another thread
The wifi range is very good and the sound is surprisingly loud for such a thin tablet. I bought a $9 folding case from Amazon that works great and the device is as thin as the Note 2014- without a case. Wild
Thanks for your thoughts and opinions. I appreciate the review. I am new to the Tab S as well. i got mine just yesterday. I stayed up kind of late messing with it. I will be using mine primarily for media consumption. I'm very satisfied with the audio and screen. I'm undecided if I want to root my Tab S yet, or not. Would you mind sharing a link to the case you bought?

If you want to keep Flash working (after installing it of course), do NOT update the tablet from 4.4.2 and DO turn off auto update in settings. Mine came with 4.4.2 out of box and works fine.
Added: It works great, actually. I see no need to root, since already works great and minimal battery drain in sleep mode for an Android tablet (no more than 2% after ten hours).
Well, I would like to write to the SD card, but not sure messing with the device/root is worth it just for that.

is the N6 still worth getting?

I am currently looking for a new phone, I was going to go for the S6 but I cannot stand touchwiz. I also use tasker quite heavily which requires root and will trip samsung knox voiding warranty.
I went into a store today and the N6 is quite a big larger than what I am used to but it comes with stock android. Any advice is welcome
Still worth it since it'll still probably support Android M and has top notch hardware.

i just switched about 2 weeks ago from the 2013 Moto X to the N6 and i love it. i love the stock pure android, size bugged me for abit but no longer dose any longer. i have made some tweaks to the phone and i get 2 days battery life out of the phone even when i listen to music all day long at work. so i think it is a great phone but it is all up to personal taste
The reason I picked it up 2 weeks ago is because if I need to jump from carrier to carrier, at least I know if I have issues I will always get updates and not have to wait on Samsung or LG.

This phone, G4, ? or wait?

Little bit about my Android history:
Had the OG Droid on VZW for a while and really loved the phone. It worked well and was a solid option.
Went to AT&T to get an iPhone for me and my wife...6 months later VZW got the iPhone and I wished I had never switched (had unlimited data on VZW, missed that boat with the carrier switch).
Used the 3GS for 2 years and liked, but didn't really love it.
Got a Galaxy S2 Skyrocket (the first LTE Galaxy) and loved it...at first. Went on a business trip and everything went to hell. Drained the battery twice in an 8 hour work day (had a decent signal), phone started rebooting randomly and heating up. Switched back to the 3GS for the remainder of the trip. Came home, flashed to stock and it was fine...until I went on vacation, then I had the same issues.
Used the 3GS until I got a 5S. Using that now.
Really want to get back to Android. I like it a lot and the Nexus seems like a solid phone. Do I switch to it, the G4, something else, or wait? Based on what I'm seeing, one of my lines has an upgrade available (I refuse to rent my phone through the installment plans), so I can use that upgrade to replace my phone.
I know this is really a decision for me to make, I'm just looking for opinions. Being that this is the Nexus 6 forum, I fully expect for it to win; and I'm ok with that

I just got the Nexus 6 on yesterday. The last Nexus I had was the Galaxy Nexus. I just came from the S6 and I couldn't be happier. The S6 was a disaster and the last time I checked the G4 still has root issues. Get the Nexus 6 and happy flashing!

I did read 1 comparison of the G4 with the Nexus last month when the G4 came out and in testing, though the screen on the G4 (according to the reviewer) was slightly better, and it had the removable battery and SD card capability the battery life on the Nexus 6 was far better (like 2 hours+ better).
That alone was pushing me to the Nexus 6 (still not convinced that my issues with my Skyrocket weren't due to the SD Card). Well, that was among the items anyway.

There is always a better phone "due" buy a nexus today and 6 months something new comes out! But as of today. Nexus 6 is fire! And also next gen phones snapdragon 810 v.2.1. Nah thanks!

Just bought s5 mini (g800f)

I broke my s4 minis digitizer and decided to go with new phone, so i bought used s5 mini.
I didn't check if s5 mini had cyanogenmod available, but thank god i found hennymcc made unofficial version I had some troubles with Gapps
My biggest problem was netflix not working, but finally after hours of googling i found fix for it and now i can stream netflix to my chromecast 2.
So my question is what kind of experiences you've had with your s5 mini and are you liking your phone?
I've had this phone for slightly over a year and while it's been allright, I am pissed off at a few things:
Promised Lollipop update has been MIA for quite a few months and possibly not coming at all.
It's pretty under-powered with a relatively weak processor and not enough RAM. It is comparable to the much much older Galaxy S3.
Despite that, it was pretty expensive for a mid-range phone (something that might have changed as it is a last year model).
Yep I like the screen on this phone, but after doing more research i maybe should've gone with moto G 2015.
I paid 200e for this phone, I could have got this cheaper but i was in a hurry. I just hope that this device will get CM support for 1-2 more years.
Just got to hope that hennymcc, CTXz, Unjustified Dev won't get bored of this device
I get mine as a gift 3 months ago and I'm really dissapointed with Samsung in general; the gave us poor support and ugly and heavy interface. I'm selling it in order to buy a Moto G (2015) or a second hand Nexus 5. As you say, at least the screen is really good

Yeah i'm kind of getting pretty fond of this phone, maybe i would like this less with stock rom.
It was pretty damn good when I was about to buy it, but after buying this device I got some problems:
•BATTERY LIFE. It can die on 2-4days in 100% charge on standby mode.
•POWER. It's pretty damn bad. I thought that using S5 with S3 processor and graphics card was a nice idea... IT TAKES 2-5 MINUTES TO LOAD NORMALLY AND WORK NO LAG AFTER TURNING IT ON.
•PRICE. Well, I bought it on 50% discount and it wasn't a big hit to me but if I would bought this phone on full price... For price I got (150€) specs and everything fits into it. But a retail(when launched) price is too big.
AND I WANT AND I WAIT FOR LOLLIPOP!!! (and marshmallow but I never get it, that's why I am looking at NextBit Robin)
