Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! Released for Shield Tablet! Finally - Shield Tablet Themes and Apps

Just noticed that Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! is available for my OG Shield Tablet on the play store!

Borderlands 2 will be available too

Its still showing as Incompatable on my Shield Tablet.

Today I buy Borderlands 2 and its looks great

Where did you buy it?
In the Play store it still says, "Your device [Nvidia Shield] is not compatible with this version of the game."

It would be good to see more games come out for this platform, it's a great device, just suffers from lack of titles.

Thinking of getting the N7 as a main device and netbook replacement, anyone else?

I was thinking of purchasing the N7 to replace my netbook and be my only device (outside of my iPhone).
The only things I ever do on my netbook (my main computer) is surf the web, play emulators, watch netflix, and write papers on microsoft word for college.
I figure that with a bluetooth keyboard and a stand I could type my papers. I also thought that with a bluetooth wiimote + classic controller and GBA.emu I could play games to my hearts content. Lastly I hope that I could use an MHL adapter to play the emulators and Netflix on my big screen.
Anyone have thoughts on this or is going to do this as well? Am I nuts? Any problems you see me running into?
I don't see why you couldn't do any of those things other than using MHL which hasn't been confirmed yet (but, if it's not available, may be able to be hacked into working apparently). I know for a fact that as soon as I get my Nexus 7 I'll probably be using my laptop a lot less.
I would never replace a tablet with a laptop/netbook, I'd just use it to accommodate it.
I have a Chrome book 5 series by Samsung and it's SUPER nice for school. Battery life great and for school work its even better.
I'm buying this tab to help keep in touch with the cloud and also for my books. It's great for books if you're in college and for games. Not so much typing up stuff.
If you want the best of both worlds, I suggest buying a Chrome book from craigslist or something for 200-ish and this tab for another 200. Together, for 400 bucks, you're set for school till you graduate! And think about it, that's still cheaper than just an iPad... or half decent laptop.

actually, i'm considering getting this for my dad for exactly this reason. all he ever does with his first generation windows 7 netbook is use Openoffice, gotomyPC (for work stuff), google drive, and google chrome. he's really wanted something more portable than his netbook and he loves his DX2, so i think that would be perfect for him.
This is going to replace my iPad 2 as my "always on me" ereader/tablet. The iPad is too big and heavy for long reading sessions, and frankly I want to be rid of my last i-device. This was just too good an opportunity to pass up.
That's what I did. About a week ago I sold my year old macbook air 13" for $1000 on craigslist and bought a samsung galaxy tab 2 7". Been loving it ever since! Now I've found out about the nexus 7 and I pre ordered the 16 gb model. I'm trying an experiment in our family with not having our own laptops and just using a tablet (wife's idea). Setting my wife set up the same way. We have 1 pc laptop that we'll share and use our tablets as our personal device. So far, it's been working out great for us. Seriously can't wait for the nexus 7 to arrive!
I already use my nook in lieu of a laptop -- my aging Core 2 Quad handles all the heavy lifting i need it to.
Try typing anything serious on a netbook. Even with my Transformer Prime, it's not fun to do, plus the major office suites (including several paid for versions I've tried) are really watered down. If you're planning on writing anything serious with it, adding graphics, etc, I'd seriously suggest keeping a laptop around for that at least, even if it's an old and/or basic one.
Especially since most tablet apps on Android are just stretched phone apps.
Currently, I use my Cr48 for all light tasks and it goes with me anywhere. Although it has been a stellar device and I do enjoy ChromeOS, its a bit underpowered for some multimedia tasks (i.e. watching Netflix). As my aging "OG" Evo phone also suffers from an even more apparent lack of power, my purchase of the N7 is more to replace the midsize "netbook-tier" device than anything else. I think it'll fit there perfectly.
My ThinkPad will remain the go-to "main device" for any heavy lifting tasks but, as the W520 is anything but portable, I need a more lightweight option!

Almost
My Nexus 7 almost replaces my laptop. I was going to replace my Dell Inspiron 1525 with a netbook or a tablet. Since I am no longer on the road traveling, all I need is a living room device. My Nexus 7 works well for what it does. I love Google Now. It works well for looking up things my wife and I are discussing. The Chrome web browser works well but not good enough for bill paying and banking. Also printing does not work well with the older printer I have. I have a very nice Windows 7 desktop for anything serious. The Nexus 7 is a wonderful device as an edition to a digital household, but not a complete notebook replacement. I can say that I now read more books and the GPS is awesome.
2 days after I got my n7, my laptop passed away.
Can't say I've missed it much.
In some cases tho, it would be faster. For instance it's way faster ctrl+clicking a bunch of links compared to long-press+tap.
My tablet has become my main device. Of course I've been using a chromebook for the for quite a while as my main computer. Still needed for some Web work, but for the most part my new n7 will be my main device.

HDMI is a sore loss. Nothing like PS3 Bluetooth controller playing classic games on the big screen. I would recommend the Samsung note 10".
Or wait till they get wifi sync setup.

Ever since my Nexus arrived, i've severely neglected my laptop. Now, it just feels so damn heavy after just throwing my Nexus into my bag and being on my way for the past few weeks.
Safe to say, my Nexus7 has become my main device as well.

[Q] New Nexus 7 User Here

I just bought the Nexus 7 Tablet 32gb and I am struck by what a fine device it is. I have owned a Nook Color rooted with CM7.2 for a couple of years now, and it is nice to have an OS that supports Play Store natively.
I did try a Nook HD+ for a few days but trying to root it or install CM10 frustrated me endlessly. Not a bad device but for some reason I just couldn't wrap my head around it, and the fellows in that particular forum had English as their primary language, but more likely it was just me...
Now then, I have a small question: with Nexus 7 already having Jelly Bean and access to all the loveliness of Play Store, why would one wish to root or even install another version of Android? It seems to me that Nexus 7 is at the pinnacle of Android develpment and holds an enviable place... I am not sure why anyone would want to change the Nexus 7 experience. At any rate, I am impressed with this fine machine and look forward to learning much more about it.
I originally bought a Nexus 7 about 2 weeks ago but I read about the Nook HD+ with its 9" screen, I had hoped that I could root and run with it so I returned the Nexus 7 and bought a Nook HD+. It was not to be... I felt like I had my hands tied using Nook's app store, everything cost money with rare exception, whereas in the Play Store most of the good apps are free. There was a not a tremendous amount of selection either.
Anyway, I read somewhere that the Nexus 7 comes with $25 free to use in the Play Store, but I can't tell if that is the case or not... I don't see any cards and the manuals that are included don't mention anything to that effect. If anyone knows how I can avail myself of this I would appreciate a heads-up.
Thanks in advance.

As far as im aware the nexus 7 play store credit is no longer available it was just a promotion. If its still avaible you should get an email about it when you activated the nexus 7. Thats what happened in my case. When you buy apps though it lets you choose your store credit as payment. If you got it, it will show up there.
Hope this helps.

I have a Nook HD+ and was able to get CM10 on it using a micro SD card. It is a bit more involved then I'm used to when it comes to installing a custom ROM but the payoff is definitely worth it. The screen is absolutely gorgeous and I find it more accommodating than a 7 inch screen. Everything works great (Google Play, Google Now, Google Maps, HD video, Modern Warfare 3, NOVA 3, etc.) I also owned a Nexus 7 but unfortunately went through 2 before I decided to get a refund. The first one had horrible screen lift and the second one completely died after about 3 weeks (wouldn't boot unless hooked up to a charger and then when unplugged screen would artifact and eventually die again after about 30 seconds). Both are great tablets but if I had to only have one then the gorgeous 9 inch display on the Nook HD+ sways my decision toward that device.
If you ever feel like having another go with the Nook HD+ these are the guides I followed:

[Q] Reviews about Kindle fire hd 7" :)

Hi, I'm thinking of buying the Kindle Fire 7 hd, but I want to know how it works, if it is quick and development if have a lot or not! Thanks for your reviews
Sent from my Xperia Power using xda premium
If you are thinking of buying a new Kindle Fire, wait a month or two and there should be a new one. Otherwise, you can read reviews from Sept 2012.
Amazon is running a sale on the fire HD 7" - I ordered one last night and it was here when I woke up a little while ago.
I really like it so far, though all I have done was put a screen protector on it as soon as I opened it and turned it on/worked through setup.
The display is nice and crisp, the screen responsive.
I got it to take advantage of the stuff being amazon prime gives me - streaming video and so on while out and about, as I travel around the country for work. I generally don't want to lug my computer around where the tablet is nice and small.
Obviously here is the first place I come as i'd like to root and get the play store on to add my years of apps to it.
I've been with a variety of (at the time) high end android devices now, so at first blush in the hour i've owned it as my own, and not some display model, i'm very satisfied for the price. ($159 free shipping, direct from amazon.)
Edit:
It's nice how well it works with the amazon services, it was easy to manage my kindle account on the amazon site, and transfer the changes to the kindle.
It's also nice that they have my 'free app of the day' apps from the amazon app store going all the way back to 2011, so win there.
It's snappy and responsive, and I didn't know it had bluetooth - honestly didn't know much about it before pulling the trigger on purchase. I figured best case would be a halfway decent viewing device for amazon prime media.
Turns out this little tablet is a lot better then I thought it would be. Even if I wasn't going to root it and break out of the amazon cage the presentation of it all and what it was designed to do is really well done.
Thanks for answer me so this tablet is cool

worth buying still?

I plan on buying a HP Touchpad and was wondering if it's still worth it.
I plan to install latest CM11 build and use it to watch HD Movies and play some 3d games.
Does the dual core processor struggle in those tasks at all?
I plan to pay about £50 which is the average ebay price i see them being sold for

Is this for a 32GB or 16GB? Overall, I think that's still going to be a decent price for either (much better deal for 32GB obviously). If you look forward to putting in the time to install CM11, troubleshoot when necessary, and just want something to experiment with - definitely do it. Has no problems with videos, can't say much about 3D games.

With all the tablets I have the Touchpad is still one of my Favorites. Not much out they can't still handle. Around $100-120 for a 32GB in great shape is a good deal.
I would absolutely get one. Great device..only gets better with age.

Unequivocally yes! For the cost its one of the best options on a budget. Games run well just take a look at my gaming videos, most of them are on the HP Touchpad. However the screen res is only 1024 x 768 so your HD videos will be cropped, get the Mx video player.

Try to get one with the HP Touchstone charger as that has brought mine back to life on several occasions and is a great stand.

Is the Fire 7 worth it?

I have a few tablets and looking for one for my 3 year old. A good bit of reviews on Amazon said this tablet is super slow and glitches to where its not usable, but since its Amazon reviews its hard to trust them. Is this tablet decent speed wise? I have a Tab 3 7 and after debloating the speed was day and night. Thanks for any responses.

- debloating makes a significant difference if retaining FireOS (you'll need root to do the job right)
- installing a custom rom (several solid choices) yields a nibble/responsive tablet on par with far pricier options
- display resolution makes device less than ideal for extensive text based work; better than most in price range for video, graphics, etc
- be aware of audio glitches in games with when running a custom rom
- parental controls in FireOS top those of most custom roms
- durable but not indestructible tablet; might consider "kids" edition which comes with more generous physical protection and warranty but is otherwise identical
If the Fire 7 is for a small child, I would just keep the Fire OS. It has great lockdown features for its children mode and a lot of free apps for children in the Amazon store. This is the same exact model that Amazon sells for $100 as a child's tablet. That one also includes a rugged child case and replacement insurance. You can get a refurbished one of these Fire 7 tablets for about $28 currently. I got one July 1 and it had 1 or 2 dead pixels that only show on a completely black screen. On any other screen the dead pixels don't show. For a small child that might easily break the tablet $28 is better than $50 or $100. Rugged shock resistant childrens tablet cases are $10 or $15 for this model. I bought the most recent one for my 3 year old niece.
To find the refurbished Fire 7 2015 tablets, go to the regular Fire 7 listing and look down the page a couple of paragraphs. The refurbished prices will be listed in smaller print than the $49 price.
Another way to find them is from the top of the Amazon title page select "TODAY'S DEALS" then select "OPEN BOX & USED". This will take you to the Amazon Warehouse Deals dept. It's an Amazon department that sells refurbished, open box, returns, one-of-a-kind, etc products. All the products usually have an original warranty, can be returned and are eligible for Prime Shipping. While in the "Warehouse Deals" department, search for "Fire 7 tablet" and you will get a listing of the refurbished ones.
I'm basically looking for a tablet with a micro SD slot so I an load movies and shows on it, watch Netflix, and play some of the silly toddler apps. My tab 3 7 has held up good with my kids in its Otterbox.
