Hi Guys,
I have been using Apktool for the first time today and have managed to get the professional mode working on the stock moto x style rom (marshmallow 6.0.1, 1 may 2016 patch level) without root and have also managed to enable the debug menu option i.e. what was the ladybug button in the old version app.
I have uploaded the new version of the apk to google drive for anybody that wants to give it a try.
If anybody wants to look at what has been updated I only modified three files (AndroidManifest.xml, \res\raw\app_features.json and \smali\com\motorola\camera\Util.smali) so if you decompile the original apk (standalone) and the new version I have created you will quickly see what has been changed.
p.s. When I updated the app_features.json file I added in device codes for the moto x style (clark), moto x play(lux) and moto g 2015 (osprey) so a wide group of people could try the mod but I have only tested it on the moto x style as that is the device i own.

Dude! As a photographer this is huge for me. Great work. Nice to have the manual settings.

for those with the camera working, do you use quick-capture (double-twist your wrist to launch camera)? I couldn't get it to work, the settings turns off by itself.
This is how i installed gallery apk since normal install was not working on CM13 MXPE 2015:
- deleted gallery that came with cm13
- created a new folder at /system/priv-app (i called it Moto Gallery)
- placed apk inside the new folder
- reboot the phone
- (icon will show on app drawer but when opening the app it will show only pictures but with no options, settings etc)
- return to the system folder created in the beginning
- install apk by clicking on it
That's it! Fully functional gallery. Take a picture and slide the right side of the screen inward. A bottom drawer will ask you to open pictures with gallery. Choose always!
I also set Moto G4 camera as default camera and not out works with twist gesture!
Once again, I'm on official CM13 nightlies 07/20 on MXPE 2015.

those that do not need specific library you can just instal via play:
Moto app
If a app does not show to you on play, or show as incompatible app, you need a flash zip, that contains the libs and other files that the app may need in those app you need to search, xda have almost all.

Flashed last nighly (2015.12.15) and videos aren't playing anymore. Both Youtube and Video player just play the sound while video is stucked. Seems to be a lack of codec.
Facebook videos still working.

I've a doubt. These marked options (from Moto X2/G3 and similar) are from the 2015.12.11 nightly, however, without working. After this, these options are gone. Why?

Problem is in newer nightlies the feature to format the external SD card as internal storage seems to be broken.

I'm using a Moto G 4G XT1039, right now with "cm-13.0-20151218-NIGHTLY-peregrine", at least YouTube-videos are working.
But I have other problems:
I installed BusyBox to get a "crond" working and it is doing as expected.
But I have not found any way, to get the "crond" starting via "init.d", it seems that it is just not working with cm13.
I was trying quite much to get it working, I modified the ramdisk and build sevral new ROMs, with no success.
There was just one way to get "init.d" working, I build a new ROM with SuperR's Kitchen and dis-/enabled the root-access in the options, to get SuperSU installed instead of the integrated cm-root.
Unfortunately it seems that the latest SuperSU 2.62-3 still has problems, after doing a "su -" there are several commands that are not working anymore, like "pm list users" or "logcat".
So anybody any idea how to solve this problem?

On my Moto G 2014 LTE (thea) I recently upgraded from cm-13.0-20151230-NIGHTLY-thea.zip to cm-13.0-20160107-NIGHTLY-thea.zip (flash with only cleaning dalvik and cache).
In the changelog for the nightly from 20160103 I can find changes for the camera (android_packages_apps_Camera2) to allow storing pictures on external media.
Unfortunately, after starting the phone with the new version, there is no change in the camera app at all.
There are no settings available to control the storage location.
Did I missed something ??

Weird, it should be in Camera app settings. BTW: Make sure you're looking at correct app, some fellow at titan forums was looking in motorola camera settings...

Yes, I checked the correct app as the motorola camera is not included in CM13
(of course, I installed the motorola camera from another forum here as well because I like it. Unfortunately, there is also no option for the storage selection).
According to the app information, the currently installed camera version is 2.0.002 (46d5f50491-30).
When I start the camera and hit the ... button I only get six options for various settings. But there is no setting for the storage location.
(my external SD is a 64GB installed as portable storage and mounted as /mnt/media_rw/2F95-B020)

Oh sh**, I didn't recognize this setting option before
I saw the two choices to change between still camera and video camera, but never recognized that the ... button has changed to a gear button.
Now I can confirm that all is working well. The pictures are correctly stored on my external card.
Sorry to bother you....
(One final question about this. Is there a way to mute the shutter sound ??)

Yes, I will check this but I think a setting option would be better as it would survive an update and there is no need to fiddle around with the image...

That's strange. In the stock Motorola camera app it was always possible to switch off the shutter sound.
As far as I know, no country complained

my moto g 2nd gen 4g 2014 running on cm 13 thea has gone into bootloop after flashing supersu v2.6. I flashed it because it said su binary not installed...i tried both the method that is the normal one and by twrp....nothing successful ...please help

I have the same phone with cm13 and using the included superuser.
This works fine with all apps I'm using.
By now, I found no app which required SuperSU.
Which app is asking for it ?

CM has built-in Superuser capabilities. Just don't flash SuperSU.

i'm using AOKP 7.1 and this file has solved for me the camera bug: "can't connect to camera"

On RR, CrDroid, AOKP I just download the moto camera app from the play store and it works absolutely fine. No force closes, no connect issues

What version do you have from the Play Store? I'm still on RR 6.X. and this one below -- from new Moto G5 -- is newer camera than I had. Thank you to @Rahuld107 for finding it!

I just downloaded this modded APK, and installed it. I then froze the older Motorola (system) camera. The new one shows up as a user app camera. For a few minutes I had two cameras, until I froze the old one.
Everything works well. Yes, it even has professional mode, but I probably won't use that. Video works well too.

I'm on RR N 5.8.3 and everything works well, except the manual focus on professional mode. It keeps shooting in auto focus on my side :/

There's been a couple of fixes I think since I posted. Go to that thread and look for v4.

Hey everyone, here is a magisk module that will allow you to use both G5 and V20 cameras at the same time on a stock LG nougat rom.
For the ones that don't use magisk, delete the stock lg camera folder in priv-appp,then copy and paste only the two camera folders from my zip to priv-app.
Remember thatV20 camera app doesn't have manual photo or video yet on G5 cause of smali editing that's needed to put those options on the main screen. (now they are located on the second screen that only V10 and V20 have)

No,these are nougat only I'm afraid. By the way,you should know that V20 cam is still a bit buggy on G5,this mod is for the ones who just want to have them both at the same time ?

Which folder did you deleted and which folders did you copied in priv-app?? Did you set the permissions and rebooted after?
Is LGCameraApp from the G5 and LGCameraAppx from the V20, or is it the other way around? I'd like to install the stock Nougat Camera app on my wife's G5 (she's using LineageOS now).

Only for stock rom,los or anything based on los won't be able to use this magisk module.

Using v1 apk and the version 1 PC app I am now able to unlock my windows PC with my x4 fingerprint reader. I'm fairly excited about this as I have been looking for a way to do this and only found the option that is for Samsung only devices.

You don't need an APK as Moto key should be updated on the play store . The 2nd version is for Oreo users only though.

Thank you for the post but the PC software has always been available direct from motorola HERE
What I am looking for is the apk software that runs on the phone. My Motorola X4 (Android 1 variety) does not come with the Moto Key apk and there is no link for me to download it via the playstore. I have found the ver 1 .apk and I'm currently using that. It will not update to v2 via the playstore.
You must use the same version on the phone and PC for them to sync. I'm currently up and running with v1. I'm currently running Android 8.0
