I wonder have all developers stopped creating systems for Motorola 2014 G LTE ? :crying:
for I see that Motorola E 2015 LTE Surnia get almost new system every day.
or it is difficult to create systems to Motorola LTE 2014 THEA
I hope I wrote right I am from Sweden

Oh, I thought all Swedes are fluent in English
Looking at Motorola's marketing policy, they are are selling specific models to specific regions/countries/continents.
They don't seem to be very Europe-oriented - hence the numbers of Moto phones sold here, namely the LTE's, are quite low.
The number of developers who own European Motorolas is also low.
The CM does include Thea, though, and it is updated daily. So is MoKee. AICP has some love for Thea, too.
You can also use any ROM available for Thea's brother, Titan - you will just need to modify a couple of files before flashing those.

Yes Titan ROM seems to be working on my XT1072 HOWEVER!?!! Intermittent lag, especially on resource hungry apps like browsers (even the infamous Firefox stopped responding!!!???) I know, can hardly believe it?!??!!! There's the possibility that it has nothing to do with the ROM and everything to do with sd card corruption. Thanks Google for stuffing things up, everything was b just fine in KK as far as Apps2SD is concerned, no longer!, now this dumbass internal storage crap, bound to fail in the end?!! Best of luck:good:

MOTO X 2014, Android 5.1 Update

Was just searching the net for past 2 days.... as soon as android 5.1 was released, there is not even a single news/ Rumors about moto x and android 5.1, So i figured
Lets Start a new thread, and something or the other is bound to come up!, got my android L update for MOTO X european version from right here so i figured lets start here.
if anyone has any information let us hear it
from what i found, there's some news on moto g running android 5.1, moto x 2013 being considered.
does that mean, we have lost the top priority :fingers-crossed:
i seem so eager coz this 5.1 is REALLY stable, i have got a nexus 6, just updated it... its smoother, some pesky bugs before, nothing now.
~~~~my moto x is suffering from bluetooth audio stuttering , among other bugs.
Did you see any change in camera quality on your Nexus6?
I mean do you think the new 5.1 will make the MotoX able to shoot in RAW and Camera-2 API will now be supported? Because that is the biggest thing which needs improvement in MotoX, and performance boost will be a boon, rest it seems stable on 5.0 as well.
Interesting, i can check it out , if someone can guide me how to .
P.s. the camera sensor itself is older version so don't expect it to be too good, samsung, oneplus one , oppo , nexus 6 all high end devices in latter 2014 use IMX 214 or IMX 240.. which are both 2014 released sensors ... On the other hand MOTO X uses IMX 135, which is released on JANUARY 2013, 2 years old now, Motorola has a reputation for increasing their, profits by using atleast one old part in their fabulous devices (HINT: moto 360, ti processor is sooo old, its parent company stopped supporting it and it drains battery too, could have easily used snapdragon400 but.... moto)
Moto X Pure Edition ( XT1095)
Well I'm searching daily for Moto X 2014 android 5.1 update but I'm not able to find anything. I had Nexus 6 I sold one week before 5.1 update, but I've tried it on my brothers Nexus 5 and its was really fast, especially the dialer app feels snappy now(but that was factory reset so not confident about that yet)..
Would love to hear more about Moto X 2014 android 5.1 update
Motorola contacted people about a week ago about participating in a soak test for the Pure Edition. So far the update hasn't rolled out to anyone.
Just leaving this message here, if anyone stumbles upon this question....
how to update XT1092 to android 5.1
as now android 5.1 is released for XT1095, and in future too XT1095 will be the first to receive any updates.... this is what my plan is.
I am Converting My XT1092 to XT1095 and then flashing the modem (google it).
TADA! thats it, that simple.
5.1 hasn't been released for any Moto X yet
As @chrisrozon says, there is no oficial release out yet of 5.1 for any victara (xt1095, xt1097, xt1092, etc). What is "out there" is a leaked soak test OTA. It's working but clearly unfinished; it has some serious battery draining wakelocks for some people.
Anyway, as soon as 5.1 is officially released (or after a few days if you're cautious), most people with non pure versions will be able to flash it and use it without reflashing original modem, since the new baseband of the xt1095 has been modified to work internationally. At least in latinamerica many of us could use the 5.1 soak with no baseband modification.
So if you're planning to convert your moto x to pure edition, i advice to do it once the 5.1 official release is out.
Cheers!
Manuel.
XT1079 - does it de Google etc?
I like to get a Moto G (2014) in the China version (XT1079) because I am often in China, I am on China mobile, and they use TD-SCDMA (which my iPhone doesn't support, so it's terribly slow). Of course now you say "get Unicom" - but I like to keep my SIM number and in China you can't transfer numbers.
Currently it sells for RMB999 ($160) on the Motorola Website in China.
I hope a merciful XT1079 owner can help with my questions:
1. Can I switch to English at all?
2. China Android is as far as I know Google free, so can I install the common Goggle services? Mainly the Playstore that is, and get other Apps from there.
3. Does the China Android even support VPN?
4. In case I need to root to get a 'normal' Android - will it still support TD-SCDMA?
Moto G XT1079 Q&A
I have a Moto G 1079 i bought it in march when it was 1299 from jingdong
The following info may be outdated and without deep research. I did all this in april so there may be updates now which you can research prior buying.
But all in all i recommend not buying the Moto G that Lenovo messed up really reallybad. I dont recommend. Instead maybe buy a Xiaomi device. I recommend the Mi Note dual sim dual network support especially China Mobile and other 4G
The questions with ur answers. Good luck i reallywished lenovo didnt mess up this great device
1. Of course you can change the system language to english
2. Lenovo installed their own app store and security app that won't let you install anything unless you root, which really is a shame because Moto G is an excellent device.
3. If you root u can install anything and thus astrill or any other vpn app is still usable. The VPN settings are still available nontheless
4. If you root which is a painfull process that needs Motorolla's approval email and stuff. I did all that it and it still works 4G China Mobile no problem.
P.S. when i was researching there was rumours that a GB rom or brazil Rom was possible to flash but when i tried it China Mobile wasnt usable. Maybe the new images and updates have fixed this issue
Good luck
Please let me know if you find anything. Basically im stuck with a really bad 90% stable rooted Moto G thats works hahaha
[Question] Feasibility of porting Moto features
I'm definitely getting in over my head with my current knowledge/capability, but I'm thinking this would be a really cool project to work on for a few months or so. My idea is the following:
It seems that, so far, no one has been able to get a custom rom on the Moto X 2013 to use the low power cores at all, and from recent information it's pretty clear that the original Moto X will not get the MM upgrade. What I've also seen is stock-modified roms that use APKs from the more recent 2014 edition to get features such as "karate chop" for flashlight. Because of this, can it be assumed that the protocol for communicating with the low power chips is the same between the s4 pro and the 801? Could it be possible to take the Moto specific parts of the LP kernel (which the source for is widely available), put them into a marshmallow kernel that doesn't mess with the APIs used by Moto Voice and Active Display, compile an MM rom that runs on that kernel, and modify specific Moto apps to check for a different android version and model name?
Most reliable ROM? (Opinion thread)
I've been with my stock Droid Turbo since it released in October 2014; I'd like to upgrade to something newer, but nothing I've found has fit my requirements (big battery, <5.5" screen, non-glass back, headphone jack, no notch, Verizon compatible, preferably unlocked/unlockable). So far, my Turbo still does the job, so I've stuck with it; however, its battery is showing its age, and it hasn't gotten an update in quite some time. Obviously, I can replace the battery at some point, so that's not a problem; the issue of updates, on the other hand, is.
I've unlocked my phone long ago when Sunshine first released to root it, so that's not an issue. My issue is that this is my one and only phone, so I need it to be stable and I'm looking to have all of its features working. I know from browsing ROM threads in the past they've typically had issues with either stability or features not working, so I've been hesitant to jump ship from the stock ROM. I'm a security professional, though, so it bothers me how behind this phone is on security updates. I'd like to move beyond Marshmallow as well, but the security updates are my main concern.
So, with all that said, I'm looking to get some opinions from users of the Quark ROMS out there. As stated, stability and feature functionality are the most important things for me. Please let me know which ROM you would recommend for my situation, and why. I know the best solution would be to trial different ROMs myself and see which works best for me; but between work, family and kids, the time just isn't there to be without a phone I know I can rely on - so I'm seeking your advice.
Thanks in advance!
(If you've got any suggestions for a phone upgrade, feel free to chime in with those as well.)
I have been using NepoRood's AOKP ROM for about a year. It's great but since he broke the screen of his Turbo, he hasn't updated the ROM. I flash BHB27's kernel and hope the security updates in the kernel are enough.
lots of stable roms available with EVERYTHING working,
calsurferpunks LOS 14 is very stable and smooth
Viper OS is exceptionally smooth and fast, also very stable
RR 7.x i would not reccommend as it was a bit less stable than the above selections, but it has ALOT of features and is stable enough for a mention
i could not get AOSPExtended or mokee to work
didnt try CRDroid very long but seemed similar to RR 7.0
have not tried others yet, if i like a ROM upon trying it, i usually trial it for a month or more to get a good idea of the long term stability/usability of the ROM
This is not an endorsement of any ROMs. In the 3.5 years I owned three Quarks, I first used rooted stock Kitkat wth xposed/Gravity box, then Lollipop CM, then Resurrection Remix (both Marshmallow, then Nougat).
However, I keep a list of current ROMs for Quarks (Droid Turbo/Moto Turbo/Moto Maxx) and I read through all the ROM threads. I help when I can, when people have issues. So, I've seen a lot... The three ROMs I see people praise most often and seem to have less issues with are:
@bhb27 RR - Resurrection Remix (Nougat)
@calsurferpunk's LOS (Nougat) -- sort of a hybrid of RR and official LOS; it doesn't have the plethora of options RR has, but I never used all the options in RR. However, it does have LED notification and Moto apps Google Play permissions and a few others.
@NepoRood's AOKP ROM (Nougat) -- but now not updated as often as he owns another device.
Most of the other ROMs on the list are also fine. I am not criticizing them in any way. We appreciate all the ROMs this device has and all the hard maintainers do to help users. All the Nougat ROMs are compatible with ALL Quarks -- Droid Turbo/Moto Turbo/Moto Maxx. They're all the same phone (the way an LG G3 is an LG G3, no matter whether bought in UK or Canada. Some even have the exact same radio bands. Moto Maxx XT1250 = Droid Turbo XT1254, with same radio bands, same FCC ID. XT1250 runs on Verizon with a Verizon SIM card. BOTH the Moto Maxx XT1250 and Droid Turbo XT1254 were sold in the U.S. by different carriers, but they were the EXACT same phone. Point is, Motorola really messed things up by calling this phone different model names for different carriers/different parts of the world.
None of the LOS-based custom ROMs would be possible without @bhb27's kernel work, however. He not only maintains two ROMs, he also codes our "stock" LOS kernel, besides having an advanced standalone kernel and his TWRP work, plus apps like Turbo Toast.
OTHER
You don't say what carrier you are with. IF you are on Verizon with your Droid Turbo, and IF you want Verizon Volte, then you need @computerfreek274 stock-based Marshmallow ROM. It's the ONLY ROM that has VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling -- and only then for Verizon. Some Droid Turbo users on Verizon still use an LOS-based ROMs as they feel the many options those ROMs offer (like the nifty LED notification and security updates) are worth not having VoLTE. But others use this stock-based ROM because it's debloated Verizon firmware, has battery and speed tweaks, and they NEED Verizon VoLTE.
NOTE: No other Quarks have VoLTE and the Droid Turbo only has it on Verizon when using stock firmware or stock-based ROM. This ROM is only compatible with Droid Turbo (or Moto Maxx XT1250, since they're really the same device).
Click the link and look through the list.
Thank you all for your responses! They more or less affirm what I thought, but it is good to hear it directly rather than what I've gathered from bits and pieces in other threads. I'll have to give them some more consideration.
Chazz, I am on Verizon, and I would prefer to keep VoLTE, if I could. I didn't think any ROMs other than the stock-based one had gotten VoLTE working though; I knew there had been some development on it, but last I had seen, that development seemed to have stopped.
Does computerfreek's ROM get the new security patches baked into it, or is it on the same patch level as stock-from-Verizon? If it's at the same level, it wouldn't really cut it for me as those security patches are my main concern. I've considered it for the features before, but I decided that wasn't worth the wipe and resetting/reinstalling everything on my phone.
No, this is where the LOS ROMs excel, especially the ones where the maintainers are active and keep the ROMs updated. They have the latest Android security patches.
This is from that CF ROM thread a few months ago, and I can't find any information to refute it:
No. This ROM is based on stock from Nov 2016, and does not have any security updates after that date.
Even the latest revision, ver 1.0.8, of CF's ROM was released a few months ago, before the Blueborne vulnerability set was announced, and so obviously could not contain any applicable updates.
Whereas you can see the update date in the title of these two threads:
ROM update! RR-N-v5.8.5-20180414-quark-Mod.zip
Both have April 2018 security patches.
The S4 Mini has the same age and its running Android 11, sadly, the code of this phone is abandoned since 2016 and its ugly in terms of some devs
Hi there. Have you checked out the basic Lineage OS website. They are running version 18.1 and provide regular monthly updates. This is for the Motorola X 2014 (XT1092). I've been running this myself and it's quite good. everything seems to work fine. the audio for voice calls is a little low for people on the receiving end of a call but it's pretty good.
Sorry, I don't know if I understand correctly, are you using this moto x 2014 custom rom on a moto x 2013 successfully?
It's really very sad for me to have to ditch my moto x, it's a great device that I just love, but without a new rom with android 9 or higher I'll have to let it go. But I still have hope.
Several apps no longer support nougat.
