My S6 Active no longer works with any computers... - Galaxy S6 Active

Was going to transfer some Roms between my phone and computer when I suddenly start receiving this notice:
"The last USB device you connected to this computer has malfunctioned and windows doesn't recognize it"
Upon further inspection in the device manager I get this:
Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)
I've tried uninstalling it numerous times and have tried reinstalling the official Samsung drivers but nothing is working. It's not working on any computer I try it with so at this point I don't know what else to do. It was working fine just a few hours ago.

check your usb cable it may have become damaged causing no communication between your device and the computer.

Forgot to mention that my phone is able to charge but cannot be recognized by my PC for whatever reason.

Have tried multiple cables, USB ports, and tried on a different PC. None of which will let me go into the explorer but they are charging my phone.

Turn on a bright light and have a close look at the connector inside the phone, it may have dirt/lint/debris, or even corrosion from water exposure. You might take an old tooth brush to it

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it and nothing changed. It still charges when I plug it up but the computer still says it's malfunctioning.

Help! My computer won't recognize my phone

I'm running windows 7 x64, and Cyanogen's 3.9.7 and suddenly my computer stopped recognizing my phone, it didn't replace the driver with something else, when I plug my phone in it doesn't even communicate with the computer. There is no drop down to mount, and the computer doesn't even see it as being a connected device, I've tried USBDeview and it doesn't show up as being connected at all. I have no idea what to do. Help would be great.
Does it appear in Device Manager?

Nope, not at all.
Tried it with more then one usb cable? One of my cables went bad not too long ago... Also could try different usb port. If all else fails.. try it on the different computer just to rule out hardware issues. If it does not register on different PC then you may need to exchange you device...
Good luck

[Q] Device not recognized?

I'm running Winxp SP3, Captivate with Cog2.8b3
I had installed the USB drivers for 32bit provided on these forums (before connecting my phone), then connected my phone and had windows throw up the "usb device not recognized" message. There's no android/samsung/etc. listing under the device manager.
Anybody else had this problem, or know how to fix it?
I had similar issues and reinstalled and uninstalled everything multiple times and that didnt fix anything. My suggestion would be to try a new USB cable or each of your USB ports.
My cable that came with my captivate was actually bad. It would charge the phone and even attempt to register with Windows by eventually fail with the same error you listed above.

I've tried each of my ports; the cable had worked previously, fairly recently, but I have a new windows install. I'll try a new one when I get back from school.
Try removing all bits of the USB Driver after un-installing them.. then try re-installing. XP is a pita with USB devices sometimes. Well windows in general for that matter.

Droid 3 undetectable

Alright, So I'm looking to help a friend get to the point where they can plug in their Droid 3 and it actually work.
Have plugged into every USB port, have installed the drivers Verizon reccomends installing for the device.
Basically we called up Verizon, and requested to get a actual OEM/Motorla cable. They sent a actual Motorola cable. Still doesn't work.
From what I understand the device has only been detected ONCE, and it was unsuccessful at finding drivers, now when you plug it in it doesn't even try to look for drivers. It just charges. gives you no options to mount or anything.
I've shot in and uninstalled alot of the drivers so it would cause it to re-detect and that attempt was unsuccessful as well. Uninstalled the Motorola driver application and did the same thing over, Uninstalled the USB drivers. Still nothing.
The device does run the most current version of Android, It is running stock. any clues?
perhaps try to manually install the drivers control panel/hardware/devices an printers
Have you checked the actual setting for the usb connection itself? Is it on charge only mode? Try a different computer if you can, if not, see if you can change the setting for when you first plug it into a computer, you should get the options of pc mode, charge only, media sync, and hard disk.

Jell - I'll shoot in and give that a shot if I can see if I can, Is i'll check for a driver package on the forums I guess see if anyone has one
Josh -- Not sure how to actually set the setting for the usb connection rather then when you plug it in and it asks for you to set it.
You plug it in and it charges, Doesn't ask what mode you want to put it in. Its like you're plugging it into a charger.
I have the same problem with connecting. My phone isn't recognizing that its plugged into a computer, it thinks it is plugged into a wall charger. It would be nice to know if anyone have figure this problem out.

[Q] Connecting to computer problems

Hi all!
I have a Nexus One running CM7.2.0 with Clockworkmod Recovery. My computer is running Windows 7.
I want to connect my phone to the computer in order to return it to it's factory state with an official shipping rom and stock recovery image.
However, I've run into a problem which I've been having for quite a while now; when I plug the phone into the computer via USB cable, it charges, but nothing happens on the computer, and nothing happens on the phone.
I've tried different USB cables, and different computers.
If I push the part that goes into the phone port to the right, the computer will make a noise as if to say that something is connected, but then it will be unable to install the correct drivers, and will say "USB Device not recognized" It comes up as an "Unspecified" device in Devices and Printers, and in "Unknown Device Properties" it tells me that "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".
I have a feeling that the problem is the port on the phone, but I wanted to ask on here first to see what other people thought. Why is it that the phone charges correctly, but won't be recognized on the computer?
I might just add that this problem first started when I installed a device manager program that allowed me to see my texts and things when the phone was plugged into the computer. It was a while ago, and I think I remember (not entirely sure though!) not safely ejecting the phone before unplugging it, and then 2 minutes later when I went to plug it back in, this occurred. Whether this is related to the problem or not I do not know.
Also, I'll add that this problem has been occurring for quite a few months now, but it is only recently that I have noticed that when plugged into a wall charger, the phone charges much slower than it used to, and the charging light will go on and off every so often. This suggests port wear, but this started happening quite a while after the connection problems happened.
Anyway, thanks to all those who respond! I am keen to work out what is wrong.
Thanks,
Simon
Also I'll add that the SD card works perfectly fine in an SD card reader USB thing!

I'm not sure you properly read what I said..
My phone doesn't work on any computer I try it on. All other USB devices work fine on the computer I am currently using. This means that it is not simply a matter of following the steps you linked, because the problem is not related to a windows error.
BTW, learn how to read properly.
Youshuold change usb cable or or rest the phone.but first of all buckup your data after that phone will stat newely so bug will be gone

USB connection cut out???

Hi guys, so I have a little bit of an issue! I've had my nexus 6 for about 3 months and i'm not sure when it happened or why but some how and some way no matter what rom I'm running, USB connection to desktop no longer works. I have tried turning adb on and off, reloaded drivers, and tried other computers. When I monitor device manager in Windows 10 no new devices are connected at all, just does not show up. No unknown device, adb, USB, nothing. So I'm not sure what I should do, I was thinking of claiming warranty however trying to avoid it. Any suggestions??????
P.S: Mounting external storage devices using otg is successful.
May there be some problem with your cable. Try different cable on all available usb port.
I've done that, no success
