Security patch level July 1, and build number is now APG1

Has anyone tried to root on this new patch?

"Current software is up to date" , clear data, repeat.

downloading now...feels like Christmas morning with WiFi calling be added...about time ATT

Saw this on my rooted phone this morning lol. Wonder if any brave souls that are rooted have tried this yet? Never thought these phones would ever achieve root, so I just updated like most people.

Phone on my other line got the update, but I haven't got mine yet. What gives? Non-rooted and everything.

This newest fw needs to be leaked first. Like I said, at&t won't release it officially. But there's a chance root will work since it's an engboot and if the bootloader wasn't updated to v3, you should be able to flash pf2.

Unfortunately, when I flashed over to the t-mobile firmware, my bootloader was updated to v3... im unsure if at&ts latest update has it though but im hoping

Huge file for a rom ..
please give more info about this rom , prerooted , deodexed ?
some screenshots would be nice ..
yes it's big 316mb?
150mb rom is big
sure that you didn't add it twice?
i used hashcode's motoblur-5.6.890.zip as a base for this. it is a 203mb compressed zip, 317mb uncompressed.
ok, then you didn't compress before uploading
because it's a 316mb download
wow, almost 1000 downloads and not so much as one thank you. now i remember why i don't share stuff.
well it took me almost 5 hours to download
and I don't think it's complete
could you post md5 checksum?
---------- Post added at 10:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:47 AM ----------
thread only has 236 views, don't think you have 1000 downloads, even if you have posted on several other forums
i just downloaded it in under a minute, and yes it is complete.
md5: 5b67be9192b16714edfb5fb04f5351c6
you downloaded 300mb in under min?

I really would like to try this rom, but it is currently unavailable, currently using minimoto and love it, but always looking for something new

uploaded a compressed zip (~181mb) and updated op link. enjoy
I think I am missing something...
Is this technically just a full blur ROM on a 2.3.6 base? I'm reading that carrier bloat is removed... But not understanding exactly what to expect with this one
Currently running latest Mini moto on my gf's Verizon D3 and she a little bit of a pain when I want to just flash and test something. Mini moto is working okay for her but has a few things that need a slight fix/adjustment. She's got 3 kids and doesn't like me to flash something that can't be what she's accustomed to for daily driver purposes... Albeit stock she was not happy with, I just need a little help in understanding what the benefits to this ROM are so I can convince her it will be an improvement and how.
Anybody who can shed some light.... It'd be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Does the lock screen just do a pattern unlock and not a slide then pattern unlock.
Sent from my DROID3 using xda app-developers app
default (screenshot) is a slide to unlock
---------- Post added at 06:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:30 PM ----------
this lock screen is same one, just what it looks like when you touch it
---------- Post added at 06:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:33 PM ----------
pattern unlock does not replace, you have to slide to unlock first, then pattern unlock
What are some of the other noticeable differences.... If you don't mind?
I hate the Verizon stock ROM lock screen... So that is a darn good start

can't remember, this is as close to stock, I've been on for over a year

Blank screen means the kernel doesn't support the display, so you must be running something other than the Verizon 5.7.906 as a base. I was surprised that the 5.7.906 kernel supports this 2.3.6 build, as it hasn't worked well with other 2.3.6 builds.

@deepen915, are you going to try rooting this?
Android central has an article on it here:
AT&T Galaxy S5 receiving 142MB update with security fixes, interface improvements http://www.androidcentral.com/att-g...-update-security-fixes-interface-improvements
Mostly just looks like bug fixes. I bet it breaks root though.

Can someone grab the ota and post it? It can be modified to update w/out breaking root.
Why so quick to update? Is the system that unstable on the s5?
Risk your root for a little security fix and stability. I think not. Why not just ask a dev if they can get you current rom stable with a update made by someone not trying to screw you around...... ATT.......
A guy in the comments, on the Android Central post about this update, said that he took the OTA and it did not break root.
I'm still kind of scared to do it though.

I tried to update...and it failed after rebooting. Not sure if it is because of root. I have nothing else customized... I think.
I am aware that G900F NF/NG firmware enables VoLTE in S5. Not sure if the NG firmware for G900A does that also.

I think it will too. It's just that this guy claims that he updated while being rooted and still has root after the update. Maybe he's trying to pull a fast one on us.
I'm running Dynamic Kat anyway, so there is no way I'm taking a chance at not being able to flash safe strap again.
Can I have someone dump the modem? Thanks.

[ROM][TW][Deodexed][5.1.1][SM-G530T][SM-G530T1] Gwiz-Rom v1.1

I am proud to present the first custom touchwiz based rom for our T-Mobile Galaxy Grand Prime! I have used the latest Samsung Firmware and made changes accordingly myself. THIS HAS ALSO BEEN CONFIRMED WORKING ON SM-G530T1!
First off, I am not the best developer here so I can't fix everything. This rom was created with Superrr Kitchen and used apktool to mod a few applications. I saw that stock touchwiz was filled with a bunch of bloatware so I decided to create one with all of this removed. This rom is currently working with no issues on my T-Mobile Galaxy Grand Prime and I prefer it a lot better than stock.
ROM FEATURES
-Based on OF8 Base
-Debloated!
-Removed T-Mobile apps
-Build Prop Mods
-Deodexed
-Galaxy S7 Bootanimation from its firmware
-Rooted
-Knox Removed
-More things are to be included in later versions
BUGS:
From my testing, I have not experienced any bugs. Please let me know if there are if any.

FUTURE SUPPORT?
I will post updated builds when I can but not very often. Future builds will include themes and other mods.
INSTRUCTIONSNote: I am in no way responsible for what happens to your device when flashing this rom. You must be rooted with Shinyside's trap kernel installed! This rom contains no kernel and such in its zip. You simply must have Trap Kernel installed beforehand.
1. Backup your device and download the rom
2. Download and install FlashFire http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/chainf...elease/flashfire-0-32-3-android-apk-download/
3. Open flashfire and hit the + button. Now make sure you have "Davlik Cache, "Cache, System data and 3rd Party Apps" checked.
4. Flash Gwiz Rom with FLASHFIRE using the FLASH ZIP/OTA option
(do not use FLASH FIRMWARE PACKAGE)
5. Confirm and flash it!
Note: During the flash process, your screen will be black for atleast 5 minutes. Do not touch your device when it is flashing. You will know it flashed successfully when it reboots itself.
Special Thanks:
@ShinySide for making Trap Kernel for us. Without it we wouldn't have root!
-Superrr for his amazing kitchen

OFFICIAL update to Nougat for S7 Edge with February security build BQA6

Thanks to @Jimmyvb98 for providing links.
OFFICIAL update S4APK1-to-U4BQA6, and from S4APJ4 to U4BQA6
Files are about 1.6 GB and in order to update you need to be on MM S4APK1 or S4APJ4.
Instruction are HERE
File is already renamed, so just put on sd-card and if you on APK1 just update. If you are on last update BQA4 you need to Odin back to API2 then update to APJ4 and APK1. Then use this update.
EDIT: Added new link to PJ4
Thanks to @Venom0642 we got mirrored links

S4APJ4 to U4BQA6
Can please someone download ASAP and provide alternative download link. I don't know how long this host will host this file. I will try to get access to different file host. later today.

Looks like its the February security update! So why can't we just put on the SD and just "update" the existing BQA4 without wiping? Just want to be sure I don't have to wipe or back up EVERYTHING AGAIN LOL

Were you on BQA4 and just performed an update? Do we really need to back up go back to MM and redo again just for a security patch? Can't we just upgrade BQA4 to BQA6 via recovery update without wiping???

I backed up with Smart Switch, downgraded to MM, then flashed BQA6.

Woke up to a system update this morning

Looks like I received my first OTA update to 8.1. That was fast. Hopefully nothing is broken.

Disable all update files with package disabler pro!
Systemless root via Magisk, at least eventually. Soon as we have bootloader unlock and TWRP.

Curious if it's the big camera update? I'm not sure, but I think Sprint already got it...
I have the unlocked version....these updates were there the first time I turned my phone on a few weeks ago.
Why wouldn't you want OTA updates if you plan on eventually rooting? I've never rooted before, but I really want to root this phone. Always told myself I'd do it on the next phone I buy.
What issues would arise from updating before you root? Wouldn't you have to wipe anyway? Or do you want to avoid any possible bugs with new updates? Just a little confused.
Thanks!

Because many times root may only work for certain software versions. If someone achieves root for a specific version, and you have updated your device, you may not be able to obtain root.
Got one for tmobile/h932 as well though it's just a security patch. Bummer . Would like a stable 8.1 over root.

Feels like camera improving was made like the unlocked versions
Getting a software update on Sprint model right now. Didn't get a prompt beforehand, but assuming it's October security patch.
Edit: weak change log, but definitely included Oct security update.

Guys, don't forget that many times it's crucial to not update if you want root!
