HELP PLEASE!! Strange issue, moto x XT1056 Sim not working - Moto X Q&A

model written on back fine print: xt1056
firmware when i got this phone from ebay: xt1053 retail LP
Bootloader version: 30.BE
i checked imei by dialing *#06# and it showed 0 as IMEI number. i inserted sim and it worked, i even changed sims from different networks and they worked.
everything was ok, but i wanted to fix this imei thing, and downloaded qualcomm nv tools and then read items, and it showed ESN and MEID items correctly but IMEI was 000000000000000000.
i put IMEI similar to MEID with adding 9 at the end for make it 15 digits. wrote it successfully into nv items. rebooted phone and whoaaaa.. IMEI got changed.
later on i flashed xt1056 lollipop stock rom, IMEI was removed, dont know how. and since then no sim is working, no signal, nothing. checked with nv tools, tried to read IMEI and it is shown as 00000000000000.
i cant change them now, it gives read only error even when it accepts SPC code and unlocks phone successfully.
please help, my phone is useless right now.
strange is this phone allows any rom to be flashed on it regardless of carrier specific.

[Q] Baseband "Unknown". Possibly simlocked?

Hello
I bought a droid 3 from ebay in Europe. The phone came from US (Verizon).
It was already rooted and with safestrap 3.05 installed.
System version is 5.6.890.XT862.Verizon.en.US
Kernel is 2.635.7-g790a33c [email protected]#1
Build 5.5.1_84_D3G-55
Baseband – now says “unknown” but was showing something before I flashed a new radio (explained below)
I want to use this phone with gsm networks in Europe. So, I flashed cyanogenmod in boot slot 1 and tried to connect to my gsm network, but it didn’t work, The error was something like “Cant assign to selected network”. Then I followed this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1989359 the part for non-us “foreign” gsm networks. Stil the same problem.
Then I thought it might be sim locked. Bought an unlock code from unlock4moto, booted into the original slot, entered sim card pin followed by the sim network unlock code I received from unlock4moto and I got the message “Your phone is subsidy locked. Contact your provider”
I re-entered the code. Same error.
Tried to connect to my gsm network that the phone was detecting but I got the same error “Cant assign to selected network”.
Then I decided to flash the new radio from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1989359 (the “using us gsm networks” part) and changed build.prop and rebooted to original software.
Now it doesn’t even ask me for sim pin code and when I try to search for networks its says “Connection unavailable” and on taskbar “Selected network unavailable” and the baseband version disappered, now says "Unknown"
Am I screwed?
What’s my problem now?
Thank you

Wrong Imei

So i bought an at&t XT1097 from ebay and it came with sim locked, i tried to unlock it with no succes via at&t because they told me the imei was not in their database.
After looking at the imei displayed on the box i found out it wasnt the same displaying at the phone (i checked this imei and this was the original imei). So now what should i do? I have my moto x rooted and bootloader unlocked still i dont know if i should just return the phone since i live in Chile and bought on the USA, or try to upload the correct imei.
well as far as i know if it was att variant, then bootloader should not be unlocked, as att isnt allowing it, your device seems too be from a diffrent carrier, i guess xt1097 is not only own by att, retail ca, retail brazil and many others carriers also use xt1097. search by the imei might be you find something help full, and also check sim tray, it contains the original imei also.. you can also check imei from bootloader, just boot into bootloader and press volume down and select barcodes from the menu by pressing volume up. last thing you can do is RMA
It IS an at&t variant, i just unlocked the bootloader via sunshine. The sim tray doesnt contain the imei either and in the bootloader barcodes it shows the IMEI that im unable to unlock.
What is RMA?

The barcode imei is what the real imei is.. Box imei might be different, so if you have unlockbootloader and imei is not on database have you tried 3rd party unlock providers? I got mine in 3$ from unlockbase.. Give it a try.
Ive tried to unlock it via 3rd party, where most of them refunded me claiming that they couldnt get the unlock code. Its all so weird since now at&t says i cant ask for the unlock code since its attached to an account (previously they said it wasnt from at&t), and now i asked for the owner to try and get me the code.
I really hope i can get the code, im using a really bad phone right now.
Thanks for the help!
Seems suspicious. Is it possible the phone is stolen and has had the IMEI changed?

Moto X xt1056 IMEI 0 recover imei

hi everyone,
i recently got moto x xt1056 (as written on back but when i turn on wifi hotspot it has "xt1052" inside ssid name.)
when i checked its imei by dialing *#06# or in about/status, it shows "0" as IMEI.
is it due to someone flashed xt1052 rom to xt1056?
amazingly, in this condition sim and messaging working fine, 3g working fine. whyyyyyyy?
maybe the previous owner flashed this xt1056 phone with retail rom including gpt/modem. i think this is what caused imei 0 issue.
anyway, i downloaded qualcomm nv tools and connected my phone over qpst port, and when read its info, it showed details as follow.
ESN: some hex numbers
MEID: some hex numbers
IMEI: 0000000000000000
i calculated imei from meid by guess
entered it in there and wrote the values. now imei is back.
later on i flashed sprint lollipop stock and imei is again disappeared. please help.

Permanent IMEI change

Hello all,
I purchased a bootlooped HTC One M7 off eBay and was able to restore it, however, when I attempted to make a call I discovered that the IMEI had been wiped clean. When using the *#06# code into the dialer, the IMEI came up as blank. Eventually, I rooted the phone and was able to restore the IMEI by using the Xposed Installer method and the original IMEI came up when using the *#06# code. Unfortunately, when I checked a few days later the IMEI was missing once again.
Is there a way to permanently change/restore the IMEI or am I S.O.L.?

No IMEI only on stock rom, Nicklaus DS (Edit: IMEI restored).

On stock rom, sim card doesn't work for me because phone can't see imei numbers.
But, if I install any custom rom, the imei of the two sim cards is seen, the sim cards of course also work.
So I made a copy of the imei in twrp, installed the official rom, restored the imei, however the phone still does not see the imei on the stock rom and only on the stock rom.
Have any ideas?
I was able to restore the IMEI number with this simple guide: https://www.lenovoroot.com/2018/01/imei-null-baseband-fix-moto-e4.html
I leave the link for others.
I was restoring the IMEI number on the XT1771 Nicklaus DS.
And if the phone connects to the network after the whole operation and the IMEI is invisible, it is enough to restore the IMEI to the device in this way:
