P3113 Problems with Ubuntu Touch - Ubuntu Touch Ports to Android

I have followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166921 to try to install Touch on the p3113, but the device and ubuntu specific links are down. I have the device specific that I got from a mediafire link that someone posted on there, but people say that it might not work. I tried to search in http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ and the old version, but I was out of luck as I could not find the "quantal-preinstalled-phablet-armhf.zip" which is the ubuntu generic file. If I DID find a quantal folder in those archives, it would always be for the desktop. In the link to the ubuntu download page for that file, "cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-touch-preview/quantal/mwc-demo/quantal-preinstalled-phablet-armhf.zip" You can see the "ubuntu-touch-preview" part of the link, which does not exist. I'm thinking that the people hosting the server have deleted the preview, for us to be left with only a "ubuntu-touch" folder which does not contain anything to do with quantal. May someone please reupload that file if you have it?

Sorry i don't know if this is the right place to ask for help but i really need it
You are posting in the wrong forum section. Thread has been reported.
The files you download usually don't need to be unpacked. Just rename them to update.zip and apply the updates through the recovery mode. Some recovery roms, such as Cyanogens or Amon_RAs, has an option of picking a specific .zip file, not called update.zip. Also most ROM builders provide MD5 sums of their ROMs so you can check yourself whether your download is corrupt or not. I suggest you trying to verifying that.
1. Your G1 is a Dream not a sapphire.
2. The development forums are for posting development threads. Any questions go into the Q&A forum.
3. Are you trying to flash a Hero based ROM? (I'm guessing you don't have the correct SPL.)
What types of files? are they roms?

What is a mirror?

In relation to ROMs, what is a mirror? I see that on there a lot and don't know what they are and what purpose they serve.
Mirror is not a ROM term at all, but a web term. A mirror is a server that is hosting a file for download. The idea is that in order to either reduce load on the original server or expedite the download by allowing you to choose a server closer to you. The term mirror is derived from the idea that it is a remote server with an exact copy of the original file. Because of the mirror system being out of the original content provider's hands, a checksum of the download is usually provided to help ensure that the file has not been modified in any way.

Awesome. Thanks. Do you know how to check the 'checksum' or 'md5sum' as I've seen it? I'm working on the MacOS platform.
BTW - do you know how to get a term added to the glossary?
Not so sure about the "checksum" thingy, try searching the forums??
However, adding a word is as simple as going:
Settings > Language & Keyboard> Touch Input> User Dictionary> Add New OR you can just spell the word when you're texting (for example) and click the correct spelling instead of the suggested spelling, that adds it too.

On linux and windows you go to file directory and type md5sum {file name}. Couldn't see it being different for mac, don't forget the .zip, .apk, etc. at the end of the file name.

On mac the command is md5 (filepath)

I don't have my UNIX book in my office, but this sounds right. OSx is based on FreeBSD, so it has a md5 utility built in. Just open up the terminal and type the above command. On windows, you will need to download a project called unixutils, which can be found on sourceforge. The command is md5sum {filepath}. But in order to get this working you will either need to provide the location of md5sum.exe or add the wbin folder from unixutils to your path environment variable.
I have Mac and if I type for example this:
Code:
md5 /Users/kevinsimac/downloads/darchdroid-v265.zip
it returns
Code:
MD5 (/Users/kevinsimac/Downloads/darchdroid-v265.zip) = 9a7af785d5ba97bbbac1ea044c99b420
What's the whole purpose of the md5 in relation to our work here?

As I explained above, the MD5 is usually included for files hosted on a server other than the content provider so that you can ensure that the file has not been modified. For example, I could volunteer to be a mirror for Fresh and if flipz didn't post the md5, I could add an apk into system that could do something like send me your location or a copy of all your e-mails or something else and you wouldn't know that I had modified the file since flipz handed it off to me.

Zip & Xap coruption in windows 8

Zip & Xap coruption in windows 8
I can zip. I can rename to xap and I can send to my phone and it works but when I try and extract I get error this is causeing a lot of headache and is happening on more than one zip file I have tried both versions of 7zip and WinRAR with no avail. searched the internet for days on end I cant figure out why this is happening.
OK, basic bug reporting steps here:
1: summarize the problem. All I got is that it has something to do with zips, xaps, WP8, and Win8.
2: explain what you're trying to do, what the expected result is and what actually happens (the screenshot helps with, but does not replace, this step).
3: give the steps to reproduce the problem. Do it as actual steps, not a run-on sentence with no details. For example, how are you sending the file to your phone?

Okay this really has nothing to do with my phone. other than the fact that zip's can be turned in to xap files.
lets say I have a folder with some pictures in it I right click on it and hit add to archive ok now folder is zipped.
then I try to unpack it but I cant because its corrupted.. I can not extract the file or a pic I get this error.
I Have found only one other person having this error on 7-zip forum and he says in only one post he fixed an error he was having with his zip by turning off IDM. I honestly don't see how that's related.
I have lost files due to this error.
If you copy the file off the PC, can you open the archive on another machine?

OK so.
I take a folder, 7zip it to .zip
renamed .zip to .xap
Extracted file just fine, windows 8 x64 pro.
Soooooooooooooooooooo...update your 7zip?
Not even sure why you're asking this in a phone forum, but did it work to extract the files on another machine? The fact that sending XAPs to the phone wors suggests that the problem is with the decompressor on your PC, not the compressor.

Anyone have R.A.H._TWRPv2.6.3__BigPart_selinux.zip?

The link to R.A.H._TWRPv2.6.3__BigPart_selinux.zip takes you to Dev-Host, which for a file hosting website is useless! Trying to download this file takes you from advertisement to advertisement and exposes folks to potential malware. One page was even blocked as an attack page. Long story short is I need R.A.H._TWRPv2.6.3__BigPart_selinux.zip to successfully BigPart partion my Everest (European version) Xoom (BigPart partitioned) and cannot find a download source anywhere.
I'd be grateful if someone with this file will send it to me.
Thanks!
Found the file!
I found the file on one of my micro-sd cards. If anyone needs this file, let me know.
