Antenna strength? - T-Mobile Note 7 Questions & Answers

Does anyone have an idea as to the strength of the antennas? I have the Galaxy s7 edge and I am getting less bars and have a harder time holding onto a signal than I did with my Note 5. I hope the Note 7 has stronger antennas!
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

It's the first phone with 4x4 mimo. I'm not sure if that has anything to strength our not. Just speed maybe? I plead ignorance, but hope it can add to the conversation.

Can't wait to get the hardware and see if there are enough receive antennas in there.

Mine is sitting next to my unrooted note 4 and the 4 has 4 full bar but note 7 is 3 bars. Both connected to my wifi 10 feet away.

Lol that's not a good sign.

Looking at the comparison (Note 7 vs S7) on tmobile website it looks like the note 7 has more bands than the s7. That would mean better signal?

Mine has worse signal then my wife's s7 edge and if I lose signal somewhere the only way to get it to get service again is to restart the phone

Google Hangouts

So I read back in August that they were letting people use hangouts over cellular now, but my note 3 won't do it. Anybody having these issues?

You would think that if they enabled it it would come through Google play. Which means everybody would get it at the same time.

Can anyone else report either success or failure of Google Hangouts videochat via AT&T LTE? I'm on the verge of upgrading from a Note 2 to a Note 3, but I think I'll wait if Hangouts doesn't work properly yet.
My friend down the street just went to the Note 3 and had the exact same issue. I'm starting to think its model specific.

Yeah they've been blocking it and I know how to enable it in an sql editor but can't do that without root. However in August they were suppose to enable it or begin enabling it.

My ATT Note 2 blocked Hangouts video on LTE until a month ago--then it started working.
However, I just got an ATT Note 3 and it once again blocks Hangouts video on LTE. This is in the same geographic location and using the same ATT account that was previously associated with my Note 2.
The Note 2 and Note 3 both show the same Hangouts version: 1.2.018 (849105-30).
I'm guessing nobody's work's over cellular?
I try a couple times a day and still says need wifi.
mine was crashing the other day made me sad.. international been getting updates left and right. get your ass in gear AT&T!
I found this several months back on XDA. Gtalkenabler_v1.1.1.apk modified. Must be rooted and works in GS3, Note 2 and Note 3. Allows you to receive and make hangout calls on LTE and 3/4g.
Not sure how to attach file. Look it up or PM me.

Thanks, but most of us are aware of the mods. It's actually just as easy to do it through an SQL editor than to have that running all the time. We were more concerned that were previously able to do it with the S4 and not now.
Also I would recommend Wannam Xposed for any kind of hacks if your rooted, to include enabling hangouts. It works without problems like the Gtalkenabler and the SQL editor.
I have the same problem. About a week ago I read an article. It said AT&T announced it but wouldn't fully rolled out until the end of the year.

[Q] Slow internet on note 4

I received my note 4 in the mail today via ups and I have tried almost everything to get the internet to work as fast as it should. I have called tmobile and told them the issue and 3 out of the 5 people that I talked to asked me how did I get the note 4 and it isn't supposed to be released until the 17th. I have downloaded the speedtest.net application and I got ping 26 ms download 0.74 upload 0.05. I need some help on what my next move should be. I have not rooted the device.
Got my Note 4 today as well and I'm experiencing slow download speeds also.

Did you try changing the server on speedtest? Does the internet work fine though? If nothing works, i'd say reset the phone.

Yes I have changed the server and actually got lower speeds, the internet is not working properly at all. I did a reset on the phone as well.
My internet speed is better than my Note 3. I have 90% LTE connection here...ie...everything but 1 bar.

I have tried wifi as of right now that is the only way that I can download things, after I downloaded the speedtest.net, I turned wifi off to get the 4g lte reading and pretty much got those marks above. I was using the sim card that was in my note 3 and then was told by a tmobile rep that may be the problem after changing out the sim card basically got the same readings.

I'm using the Sim card I used in my Nexus 5 (previous device), I'm sitting in my bathroom and getting 15mb/s speed on 4G LTE, getting about 30-45mb/s in my living room.
It could very well be a faulty antannae in the device, especially with how the packaging was when I received the device. Nothing against T Mobile, but a packing ENVELOPE? Really? Seems kinda faulty for a $900 device.
It works on 4G but not real good and 4G lte looks like this now

I am wondering the same thing. I wonder if you can disable Band 4 using this technique by writing to non-volatile memory and disabling band 4?

I want to disable Band 13 where I live.
I don't want to disable merely pick.....I guess we need Samsung for that

without root you have to go off the tethering on your plan if you have it. dont go with the new tmobile unlimited plans because they charge for tethering and it's not as much as you can get now. there's really not anything similar to the note 7. the note 5 comes to mind but you had the note 4 so i'm guessing you didnt like the note 5. the international note 7 has root so you could go that route. it has bands for tmobile use.

tmobile uses Frequencies: Band 2 (1900 MHz), Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz), Band 12 (700 MHz).
the n930F uses:
LTE Cat9 700/800/850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100/2600 (Bands 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,12,13,17,18,19,20,25,26,28)
TD-LTE 1900/2300/2500/2600 (Bands 38,39,40,41)
so yes it is tmobile compatible.

I'll recommend a Nexus 6P, it's a gorgeous phone, and it's full pure android, so no problem rooting it legally from google.
no problem with bands, as it's multi band.
I'm using Wind (T-mobile partner), I too only buy phones that works with AWS bands
for the past few years, all phones are true multi-bands, so we no longer have issues with phones not supporting AWS
I too was considering the Nexus 6P before picking up the Note 7.... which I might either return or sell, if root is not available in the next 30 days

I understand why someone wouldn't need it but not knowing the use case of the guy asking the question it's better to assume all possibilities rather than just your own.
I for one cannot send a text message at home without WiFi calling connected. That may be a consideration for him to take into account when making his decision.
Also the area he lives in may not support volte

Titanium Backup, i've been using it for many many years.
The stupid Samsung "Smart Switch" (not smart enough) software doesn't work, it doesn't transfer your Apps/Games and safe games, or Apps data.
Which is why Titanium Backup is a must.
Then I also use use Droid Firewall, to manually control what comes in and out via. It's a great tool to avoid browser malware from being installed into your phone unexpectedly while browsing the web, or trying out some AD Bomb Infested Apps from Google Play.
Being able to choose what gets to connect to the internet, makes it easy to identify. Nothing goes behind my back without knowing which App is sending/receiving data.
There are a lot of other Apps I use which requires root, but they are of less importance. Apps like Widgetsoid, CPU Speed control, GPU speed control, SD card Boost, restart to Recovery Mode, and much more, basically all the Apps that can let you have full control over your phone.
Which is why most manufacture they do not like the idea of the "End User" messing around with their phone, because we are not "Owner" of our own phone, so we don't get to be "Admins"
That's the only nice thing about Nexus phones, you are guaranteed Admin / Root access.
But unfortunately as you mentioned, Nexus phones even the top of the line, are not always the best.
Samsung makes the best phone, but they are getting worse and worse at letting the "Consumer" do what they want with the phone.
