Axon 7 root without bootloader unlocked - ZTE Axon 7 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other Deve

[MOD EDIT:]In the absence of the OP I have been asked to make it very clear that the included TWRP build flashes fine on Chinese and US models but bricks Euro models (The "G" model)
CAUTION: this might be outdated,since this method is using a qualcomm bootloader logical bug.that is fixed in 2016/12 .so the latest firmware dont have this vulnerability.

Any chance for european model A2017G?
Also how does dm-verity gets bypassed?
As far as I know Boot partiton gets verifed at every Boot on all recent Android devices.

If this works on the US model, would it allow for a dump and generation of stock firmware (without bootloader unlock)?

Looks very promising! I have the chinese model, but im on b07 already...
I could try it once im back from holiday though

If the program can flash around the locked bootloader, does it have the option to be able to download the partitions while NOT changing anything? Then we could finally get some clean backups.

I am almost positive that the boot.img that @jcadduono uploaded to idlekernal is the B20_Boot update, since it came from a post unlocked BL dump from @jkuczera . It might be good proof of concept that root works, and could provide way to get pre-B20_boot system image. We will need a B18 or B20 full image to confirm ability to root without BL unlock. The 2017G(EU-HK) has a full firmware release B02, i'll see to attach it's boot.img later if you want to spin up a version for them

[HOW-TO] Easily resize system + data partitions!

BIG THANKS TO MUR4IK FOR THIS TOOL! Be sure to donate to him and support his work!
Cannot get the builder to run or use Linux/Mac? Solution here!
In this guide I will be showing you how to resize your data + system partitions for more/less space.
Things you will need:
LG GT540 w/ A Fastboot ROM installed
LG drivers and Fastboot/ADB drivers installed
Windows (with .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installed. If you have trouble launching the program, (re)install .NET 3.5 SP1. Also this tool will not work with Wine on Linux.)
Your phones USB cable.
WARNING: MAKE SURE TO NANDROID BACKUP YOUR ROM BEFORE CHANGING THE PARTITION SIZES! YOU MAY NEED IT LATER. ALSO, THIS TOOL DOES NOT REMOVE RECOVERY.
First of all, grab the SwiftBootloaderBuilder.zip from http://kulkoff.com/swift/ or from here.
(Mur4ik's site is recommended)
Next, put your phone into Fastboot Mode (Camera+Power)
Extract the files to your Desktop using any archiving program. Then go to the folder you extracted. Right Click and Select 'Run as Administrator'
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
You will see a window like this pop up:
Now we can alter the partition sizes. If you want the same effects as Mur4ik's 234MB DATA KDZ, choose 150MB system, and the data column will change accordingly. If you want a bit more system space (eg. To run airbus360's LG Optimus One ROM) Select 190 system. Basically, adjust the settings to how you want. My recommendations are:
For SwiftDroid, joe.stone AOSP, airbus360 AOSP, EleganceSwift, MMXTREM 2.1 Lite, Quarx Black ROM: 150 system 234 data
For airbus360 Optimus One: 190 system 194 data
For stock 2.1: 250 system 134 data
Once you have decided on the size you want, hit 'Flash New Bootloader' and confirm you really want to do this. You will get a 'Done' message and then click OK. Select 'Wipe Data' and then Reboot Device. After you click reboot, hold down HOME until recovery pops up.
Now you have two choices. Either install a new ROM from scratch, or restore your nandroid backup you made earlier.
This tool also has the option to remove fastboot and recovery from the device, so you can return to stock firmware, and possibly use regular LG updates again.
Thats it!
If you've got any questions, PM me or reply to the thread.
Also, don't forget to say
if I helped!
Anyone with WinXP SP3 32-bit has got it working successfully?? I still can't make it work. Resizing, removing fastboot & recovery doesn't work for me.

I have only tried on Windows 7, but i'll try it on my netbook soon (that runs XP)
Working fine for me (XP SP3 w/ .NET 3.5 SP1) No issues at all, also partitions resize ok too.
Hi. Thats should be added in header that this "tool" has a requirements MS .NET frameworks 3.5 SP1 and adove.
Mur4ik,
Because this tool can save the bootloader instead of flashing it, would it work to save the bootloader using the tool in Wine, then flashing it with fastboot (maybe a solution for Linux users) What would the command be to flash this boot bootloader?
Thanks.

EDIT: Doesn't matter, .NET 3.5 SP1 wont install, also using Winetricks didn't help. But what I might do is, create a load of bootloader files (on my Windows machine) and then upload them, so users can flash w/ fastboot.
Anyone knows how to get fastboot on fresh stock ROM without that KDZ stuff? Coz I'd just bricked my phone (dead phone), but the LG people in India are too generous to fix it in two hours.
I won't take any risks with KDZ. But I'm missing Swiftdroid and other stuff. Please can someone tell how do I install fastboot somehow without using KDZ?

You could root your phone then use root explorer and copy the flash image file to the bin folder then run the command mur4ik posted in this thread but change fastboot to flash_image run the command in terminial that should work.

You might be able to flash it using flash_image. But either: flash_image may not be able to access the appsbl partition or it may not be able to be changed 'on the fly' so to speak. You can try this, not sure if it will work, root is needed, not sure if it will brick your phone, I have not tried this method.
Download either:
150 system 234 data
250 system 134 data
and also download flash_image from here
Put the .mbn and flash_image file on your SDCard.
Open a terminal emulator and type the following:
Code:
su (press allow when prompt comes up)
cd /sdcard/
chmod +x ./flash_image (if this doesn't work, try chmod +x flash_image)
./flash_image appsbl appsboot_150_234_64.mbn (or appsboot_250_134_64.mbn)
sync
Now try entering fastboot and flash recovery. In theory, it should work.
oh snap, Eoghan beat me to it
@eoghan and effortless.
Thanks for your help, I'll try that later.
EDIT: One doubt, I don't think it's possible to resize partitions while using them.
Lets hope it works, then once at 2.1, there is no need for KDZ anymore (sort of)

Hi,
does it mean that by using your tool I will be able to flash a new factory ROM (dload\Update.app format), even if I had put a TWRP recovery to my P7?
Without changing back the TWRP to stock recovery?

If your bootloader is open, no Problem.
Put the twrp recovery .img in the recovery folder and choose flash recovery.
Only ADB and fastboot commands. If you have trouble - Plesse give me a info.

[ROM][MIUI][4.4.X] Stock Kitkat MIUI 6 fastboot ROM flashing guide for Redmi 2

After xiaomi decided to push an update of miui with lollipop, they decided to change partitions and firmware is new too which is bad (as it causes bootloop) if you want to switch to Cyanogenmod 13 which has got official support recently.
So its good to get back on kitkat MIUI to switch to Cyanogenmod.
Let's get started!
THINGS YOU'LL NEED:
1. ADB and Fastboot tools: http://d-h.st/oFLb
2. Stock MIUI kitkat ROM: http://bigota.d.miui.com/V6.7.1.0.K...ICH_20150826.0000.7_4.4_global_dcc2d135ee.tgz
3. 7zip (Probably the best file manager) http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
4. Drivers: http://d-h.st/a5kA
How to install drivers: Download and extract the above zip contents in a folder. Right click on My Computer > Manage > Device Manager. If your drivers are not installed correctly, it will show as unknown device in device manager. Right click unknown device > Click update driver software > Browse and select the extracted folder. If warning is shown, ignore it and proceed.
5. Patience and some brain xD :silly:
INSTALLATION:
Windows 7/8/8.1 is recommended
1. Extract the adb and fastboot tools in folder on your desktop named Redmi 2.
2.Download and extrack the fastboot ROM in the same folder too. Use 7zip software here to extract it.
3.Now move mouse to empty space in folder and while pressing shift, press right click. A menu will open. Select " open command prompt here" option. A command prompt window will open.
4.Power off your phone. Let it vibrate. Press and hold "Volume down and power" buttons until it enters fastboot mode.
5.Connect the phone to PC/Laptop in fastboot mode itself. Let the OS install drivers, make sure you have working internet connection.
6.Type the following command:
Code:
fastboot devices
Fastboot will return serial number of device(It can be any number don't worry if it looks weird). Click button below to see screenshot:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
7.If a blank space is returned, make sure drivers are installed correctly and phone is connected correctly.
8.If everything is okay, type the following commands one after another when previous process is complete.
I have shown a example for flashing recovery image below. Likewise you have to proceed for others.
Code:
1.fastboot flash boot boot.img
2.fastboot flash system system.img
3.fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
4.fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
5.fastboot flash cache cache.img
9.After this is completed, type the last command:
Code:
fastboot reboot
10.DONE.
Your phone will now boot in MIUI kitkat and you are ready to flash the official CM13!
Follow this guide for CM13:http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-2/how-to/rom-install-official-cyanogenmod-13-t3374589

I exactly followed your post and flashed the images via fastboot and got a bootloop.
Then used fastboot to install & boot a twrp-3.0.0-0-wt88047-20160309.img and proceed to install a cm-13.0 NIGHTLY-wt88047 ROM and, again, got a bootloop

Nope, It's still saying 'remote: Data too large" on trying to flash either system.img or userdata on fastboot
Any other suggestions?

This how I did it from a computer running Ubuntu Linux 14.04.04 LTS:
1. @ PHONE: put phone in fastboot mode
2. @ PC:
2.1. unarchive the file wt88047_global_images_V6.7.1.0.KHJMICH_20150826.0000.7_4.4_global_dcc2d135ee.tgz
2.2. go to the unarchived directory and execute:
sudo ./flash_all.sh (this command executed from an Ubuntu Linux terminal)
2.3. After a while it reboots and then it takes a long time (>5min.?) to show you the MIUI 6 interface
Done.

[Guide]Extracting Stock firmware files using Huawei Update Extractor/splitupdate

There seems to be a little confusion on how to do this and I've written down how to in many posts now so I figure I'd just write it down in a little guide.
What you need:
Firmware update.zip from http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/
Windows only: Huawei Update Extractor
Linux/Mac(?)/(Windows too): splitupdate perl script (requires perl)
Direct link: https://mega.nz/#!4PBknJrK!iZQDI4ti6ERmQJC6afgUGTSvHHKcm9KFz9okmwwez3I
Source: https://github.com/marcominetti/split_updata.pl/tree/f5f415262be3487de28321b49dcb69d947897bf1
(Or my 'special' version https://mega.nz/#!NS4VnL7Q!5GMn-soCf_WMW6fZANd-TDzxjQkZW2LynEQtJ_TlUdU which extracts
to the same folder as 'splitupdate' instead of 'output/', and includes a mount script (Linux only, maybe Mac?) for extraction of files of the different images)
Archive extractor of your choice (7zip, winrar, winzip and so on.)
Firmware build
First you need to determine what your current firmware is, this can be done by going to 'Settings -> System -> About Phone' on your phone. Check 'Build Number'.
Mine says:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

BLA-L29 8.0.0.132(C636) (Replace 8.0.0. with C636 and add a B infront of 132 )
This can be translated into BLA-L29C636B132.
Now we have our current firmware!
Info on Nougat -> Oreo
As of Oreo the partitions changed a little.
'Boot' partition was split into 'ramdisk' and 'kernel'.
'Recovery' partition was split into 'recovery_ramdisk', 'recovery_vendor' and 'recovery_vbmeta', and shares the 'kernel' partition with 'ramdisk'.
The one's you probably want to flash are 'ramdisk' and 'recovery_ramdisk'. (Ramdisk is where Magisk/SuperSU goes, recovery_ramdisk is where TWRP goes)
Firmware update.zip
In this example I will be using my firmware, BLA-L29C636B132.
First start by going to http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/ and enter your full firmware in the 'Enter model', click on Find Model.
This is what it will look like after you have searched. Locate the row that says FullOTA-MF and click on the 'update' link in that row.
When it's downloaded, open update.zip in your choice of archive manager and extract UPDATE.app to your desktop or somewhere easy to find.
Huawei Update Extractor:
Download Huawei Update Extractor from the link above, it's attached to first post in that thread I linked to (v0.9.9.5).
Extract the zip to your desktop (Or Downloads folder).
Enter the newly created folder that should be named 'HuaweiUpdateExtractor_0.9.9.5', and run HuaweiUpdateExtractor.exe.
Start by going to the 'Settings' tab and uncheck 'Verify header checksum'.
(Something is wrong with the header of erecovery_ramdisk, also it's mispelled to erecovery_ramdis, or maybe character limit? The partition on phone is named correctly. This does not need to be unchecked on Nougat firmware)
Then go back to the 'Extract' tab and click on the button that says '...' and open your UPDATE.APP
Rightclick on the file you want to extract and click on 'Extract Selected', this will bring up a dialog where you choose where to extract to.
After this you can flash the file using fastboot. Take 'ramdisk' for example.
Make sure you have adb & fastboot installed (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790)
Open up a command prompt and connect phone, reboot to fastboot mode using: usb plugged in, power + vol down, release power when phone vibrates.
Or you can use the command 'adb reboot bootloader'.
Make sure phone is recognized in fastboot mode with the command: 'fastboot devices', it should show up as a fastboot device.
Next we can flash RAMDISK.img using: 'fastboot flash ramdisk RAMDISK.img'.
On Nougat you would extract 'BOOT' from UPDATE.APP and flash using:
'fastboot flash boot BOOT.img'
Linux/Mac(?)(and Windows with perl installed, I use Strawberry Perl)
First download the splitupdate zip from above.
Extract it and enter the extracted 'split' folder, open a terminal and:
'chmod +x splitupdate'
'chmod +x crc'
Now put your UPDATE.APP in the 'split' folder and open a terminal and use the following command:
'./splitupdate UPDATE.APP file_to_extract'. If you write 'file_to_extract' or anything that is or is not in the UPDATE.APP it will list all images in it.
Typing './splitupdate UPDATE.APP' will extract all files in UPDATE.APP
It will output files to the newly created 'output' folder. The filtering is not perfect. If you use './splitupdate UPDATE.APP RAMDISK', it will extract all images with RAMDISK in its name, so you will get RAMDISK.img and RECOVERY_RAMDISK.img. This is fine for me as the original script extracted everything, which takes long for the larger images.
And if you use the 'special' version:
'chmod +x simg2img'
'chmod +x mount.sh'
I edited the splitupdate script for the 'special' version just to make it easier for me as I like to check SYSTEM, VENDOR, PROCDUCT and those images for changes.
So it made it easier if it extracted directly to the root of 'split' folder instead of 'output', then I could run the mount.sh script directly.
To use mount.sh, first edit the script and replace YOUR_SUDO_PASSWORD_HERE with your password or remove 'echo YOUR_SUDO_PASSWORD_HERE | ' and input password manually when it asks.
Then simply extract SYSTEM.img (or Product, vendor, odm whichever you like) and './mount.sh SYSTEM' (yes, no extension).
This will convert SYSTEM.img to SYSTEM.raw and mount it to 'split_folder/SYSTEM/' as a loop device, it will also chmod 777 everything in SYSTEM/.
Linux ADB and Fastboot
Use google for this one. ADB usually works fine right away, Fastboot might get 'no permissions' and need to be run as sudo if it's missing udev permissions/entries.
You can make fastboot work without sudo but it's easier to google it as it might get lengthy and there are a lot of different distros of linux (I use Ubuntu)
Hi ante0, i have downloaded the bla a09 8.0.0.109 c567 which is the recent update for my US mate 10 pro version, i was using hisuite to update my phone which is failing but i was able to grab the update which it down loaded and it has the following files in it, bla-a09_hw_usa( which contains update_full_BLA-A09_hw_usa, public( which contains update_data_full_public), update.zip which contains update.app and other xml files, i have already bl unlocked and rooted with supersu but i wanted to install magisk and i installed twrp and tried sideloading magisk but it fails stating boot image already modified and advised flask stock boot, so which files do i need to flash and what are the fastboot commands to do so and i was also thinking about complete bl lock just to make it look like new phone and how do i do that, please direct me, thank you.
I think to update you'll need to:
A) Unroot your supersu.
B) Restore stock boot and restore your stock recovery with guide in OP and with the firmware files actually installed on your phone.
Then you could root oreo with magisk.

there lies my problem, i am trying to flash an updated stock firmware than the one that came with my phone, i have unrooted supersu and deleted supersu app and dont have root anymore confirmed by rootcheck apps, since my boot is already patched once magisk wont flash and advising me to flash stock boot image but i dont know which to flash as with oreo there seems to be different partitions and i dont know commands other than basic fastbbot commands to flash stuff.
ok so i was able to flash ramdisk, recovery and system and boot back to OS ( i have earlier erased system by mistake) and i have flashed system.img from updated firmware but version still shows old one, and i am trying to use funkyhuawei erecovery method to flash the updated firmware and when i boot to erecovery to update but the update button is missing and i just have rebbot, wipe date/fr and wipe cache, so what do i need to flash and commands for it in order to make erecovery work and i have update button enabled, thank you.

If you can, use the HWOTA method instead. It's free and found: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/how-to/guide-mate-10-flash-oreo-update-package-t3716814
If you can't use HWOTA and have to use Funky:
You seem to be in normal Recovery. You should see a button that says 'Download latest firmware', the one you're describing is showing buttons that are in normal Recovery.
Are you booting using Usb plugged in + vol up + power?
For some reason my phone would only boot to revovery and not erecocery, anyway i used hisuite method and was able to flash new firmware. Thank you.
I've just unbricked my Mate 10 pro via this method. Thank you Sir.
Not sure if this is the right place but where can I find the original Huawei OS it was shipped with? I installed Lineage and want to go back to Factory.
I just want to .img file. I have only unlocked the bootloader not rooted the phone.
Lack of camera and other features means I need to get back.
Any ideas?

You bricked your device because you don't know what you are doing,not because of this guide.Oh,and i thought KangRom was responsible for bricking you device....anyone else to blame ?
My phone was bricked because of Lineage OS, and i unbricked with this guide. Read my post first.

lol,i've read "bricked"... .I apologize for that!:good:
There is no way at least for the US version to find firmwares shipped with phone until now, i figured it out by connecting phone to hisuite on PC and it showed update available and i clicked update and waited until download part of update process completed and then i went to documents folder and hisuite and the app stores the download there and it will have 3 zip files, u can copy them to a different place because once the update completes those files are deleted. Might be the same for other models if supported by hisuite.

It should say your current firmware (besides Lineage) in Settings -> (System?) -> About.

It's better to use:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/how-to/guide-mate-10-flash-oreo-update-package-t3716814
I'm not sure if symlinks will be set up correctly if you flash images directly. And some partitions can't be flashed from fastboot (like the erecovery ones)
