Thining of buying this device, is it made for the US market, will it receive Nougat? - Galaxy S6 Active

Hey guys, I like this phone because of its durability and am thinking about buying it.
I'm an Europe resident and dont know if the phone is made for the US market solely, because I don't see submodels and almost nobody is selling it including stores and second-hand.
Is it prone to screen burning? I saw a few listings on amazon that show massive spots of burned pixels
Also do you think it will receive Android 7? Thanks a lot!

It was designed as an exclusive for AT&T, a US carrier.
The phone is no more durable than any normal phone.
If you drop it, the screen can (and probably will) break.
It might be marketed as water resistant (has an ip68 rating), but many seem to fail after getting wet.
Updates for this phone are late. Don't expect updates beyond MM.
Boot loaders are locked, root is extremely unlikely.
I bought it because it was the first big battery galaxy. I like it, but subject to the warnings above. I don't care about updates, as long as the phone works, I'm happy.
The S7 and Note 7 line now all seem to offer comparable attributes, but they look a little slippery (I don't use a case).
Hope this helps,
AoN

if you are talking about buying s6 all I can say is keep in mind this should happen to you
1 bad battery life
2 home button stuck
3 loosing imei anytime If you don't have backup that'd bad
4 blue dots on front camera

5 the phone is very slippery you will drop it

I have been using my Active in Brazil for over 6 months, very far away from any AT&T coverage, and very happy with the device.
- The battery live is fantastic
- It has an IR blaster, that the S7 has not
- It gets OTA updates every month from At&t even in Brazil
- I have used 4G it in a couple of countries in Europe (Swiscom and Lyca) withou any issues
- It is tougher then the S7 and I never had any water related issues even though I often use it in pools and shower
Just don't expect to root it, and you'll have to disable a bunch of At&t crapware.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Note screen artefacts - strange discovery

Hi all, this is my first thread.
I would like to share my recent discovery with you. Three days ago I bought Samsung Galaxy Note I (one) and I love it. However, I immediately noticed a large circle in the middle and a small one in the lower right section of the screen. It can only be clearly seen when there is a grey background (I noticed it when starting Market for the first time). I immediately installed a couple of screen test applications and realized that all the colours are fine, there are no dead pixels, just these kind of "imprinted" circles that I cannot erase. I did search the Google and this forum and realised that some users have the same issue with the SII (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...1087236&page=4), although at the different places of the screen.
Today I found out the cause of the circles. By looking at the advertisement sticker that I peeled off the Note, I realised that the Samsung original sticker is the cause of the deterioration of the screen at these places!
Look at the two attached pictures and see for yourselves. Just to be clear, they are not dust or grease or something like that, the circles are "inside" the screen. And it is obvious that the patterns are the same as coloured adds on the sticker.
How can that be possible? Can it be that the phone spent a lot of time under the marketing glass at the store and that some kind of chemical reaction occurred under exposure to light?

Wow!!!!
The only thing that comes to my mind is that your particular Note was some sort of display unit behind a counter or glass shelf.
Let me explain... Since our super-mega-screens are AMOLED (meaning organic) based, they tend to deteriorate every time we use them, specially blue colors are the quickest to deteriorate when we use the device.
However, UV light (normal sun light and even fluorescent tubes like the ones in offices and stores) when shined directly to our screens tend to degrade the quality of the display even quicker!
I bet your Note spent way too much time under UV light while the sticker was on the screen, thus creating a ghost image or shadow over it.
Unfortunately, there's no way to fix this.
If I where you, I would return this Note ASAP to the store and explain your findings...
Cheers!

Definitely take it back and show them the very obvious proof that this has occured since before you even set eyes on the device !

Hi all,
My nightmare continues... After bouncing a couple of times between service store and the seller's store I finally got my brand new Note. Not. I got a new one, but it turned out to be a demo model from another store, and guess what, it also has the same circles and shadows imprinted in the screen. The dealer said that this one has also been in display for almost half a year and to me no wonder it has the same screen issues. So, no luck here.
But the thing gets even more complicated because they do not have another Galaxy Note anywhere, in any store, so they cannot replace it (they returned them all and are starting to advertise Note II, which is a lot more expensive at my carrier's tariff). So I am stuck. I tried to get the DOA form and hopefully will get it through the day and go to the authorised importer here in Croatia and hopefully get a new one or at least have my screen repaired. However, I am not happy to see my new phone going to repair shop, I know that I must get a fresh new one if I return it in a weeks time.
More strangely, the store said that if they return the phone to the authorised dealer they will need to give me the new one and since they don't have it they are willing to cancel my two year contract? And that is the only thing they will do. And I do not want that, all I want is a perfectly working Note.
I will try to go to the importer myself with all the papers and will post back the results. Of course, I do not need to mention that I am very disappointed with the customer service....
I wouldnt have left the store with out either a Brand spanking new Note (Not display model) or without a contract termination.
I know you dont want to cancel, But your paying for a service which isnt being delivered !
Cancel that motherfu*ker and take out a new one with a better provider, Your current one sounds awful !
Tell your new provider that your old provider are offering you XXXXX handset for XX amount per month and if they can beat it, you will join them !
It worked for me I got my mummy the Nokia Lumia for £20 a month (free phone too) as opposed to her old provider wanting £35 per month.
These people dont give a $hit about you, They just want your money, So dont think the promises they make instore will keep because they wont!
Its time to play hard ball if you want a decent outcome!
PS: What sort of provider sells Ex Display models as 'Brand New' ones ? Over here in the UK we call these people 'Rogue Traders' !
Keep us informed :good:
You shouldn't let them do that to you

Well if they give you note2 for price of 1 its not to bad. Its majorly bad they gave you 2 faulty units.
Like above posters, cancel or claim working unit alternative.
Whats the namr of the store? So people can avoid it
Did you get a discount for using a demo product?
Also, always test screen in store. That way you can often exchange on the same visit.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
That is completely unacceptable! They can not sell it as New by any chance! As soon as the product leaves the box it becomes B stock!
B stock usually pays off and you can save a lot of money, but not with smartphones, unless aesthetic if the only flaw, which is rare...
I have a 7 string guitar I bought in B stock, it is completely fine, except for a dent on the finish on the back and the electronics were a bit messy so I got a HUGE discount!
Latter that month bought new pickups and redid all the electronics, taken from an older guitar I barely used, and got myself a limited edition Cort X-7 for 185 euros (something like 200dll)! (which is just plain ridiculous) xD
Be on the look for B stock items guys! You can make really great deals!
Hope you get your problem fixed! Good luck!

Hi all, just to let you know how everything turned out for me... After a couple of weeks of complaining and arguing and loosing my nerves with the store where I bought the Note I, I decided to cancel the contract. So no luck there.
But, in the spirit of a nice Christmas story, I was given a brand new Samsung Galaxy Note II by a friend of mine!
And I am forever thankful and just want to say that the phone is amazing!
I hope you will file a consumer complaint against the store.

Bravo majstore You got GN2 instead of a demo GN1 you have the best christmas gift ever I wouldn't trade my GN1 for nothing (only for GN2) and btw on my note on the back it says Not For Sale lol but it works normally

To Others, Silly to Ask, but do find it concerning, Removing Plastics

I received my exchange order today, received a brand new T-Mobile Note 4, manufactured very recently; the phone did not arrive in the expected condition; all four sides did not contain any plastics to be removed. The only plastics I see are the camera lens, screen protector, and back cover plastic. Is this something which some of you may have also encountered? I know Samsung doesn't play a role here as it depends on how the carrier handles their phones when packaging.

You have a new phone would be my guess.
It took me three days from opening day to get mine cause of family drama.
It didn't have much plastic on it.
(I can describe the plastic to you in a pm if you stop creating new threads).
It was brand new.
We did a factory data reset on my s4 which is running cm so the missus could have it. Sims were switched.
The guy at the store could barely turn phones on. He asked for permission to help another customer whilst we were playing with the s4 to make sure switch went ok.
T-mobile employees aren't touching your phone pre-sale even if they want to see what the fuss is all about. They'd get in trouble.
Are Samsung employees? Since as you mention t-mobile is the middleman.
They'd get in trouble worse. Not unless they were told to. To update firmware or test that that batch of phones work.
What about the visible microscratches, how many times are you suppose through the exchange process until you find one that is mint
Can't hurt to try again.
It has to be tmobile removing the plastics prior to packaging, no wonder the latest firmware was already installed. They should have been careful when handling
Maybe. I thought Samsung and T-mobile went back and forth with the firmware and then Samsung flashed it on the phones and shipped the phones to tmobile.

In any event why not exchange? Can you not return your phone or something?

I had to do an exchange twice with tmobile.
1.
White s3. Pink blob in the lower right corner when on a white background. Exchanged within 14 days for a brand new phone. It's my mom's phone, now. I still flash cm nightlies on it. Not a microscratch on it till this day.
2.
Ducked my camera up on my s4 flashing something or another.
Took it to a cell phone repair store. Even though I own one. No love. The guys at the other store said return it. I said I'm way out of the 14 days. They said call tmobile anyway. Flash back to stock and it will be fine.
Guess what?
It was.
Brand new s4. (Also, without microscratches). My dad's current phone.
Tmobile and Samsung want our money.
They will attempt to make you happy if you ask right.
I had to call 611 and tell them I had already factory reset.
End of story.
Got an extra battery, european s4 battery cover, headphones, charger, and extra ear bud covers out of it.
Seems like you had the entire process done in the store.
The Note 4 I received was through Overnight Shipping, it seems like the device was shifting around here and there while in transit especially during this time of year.
The display is immaculate, but the body is not; the reason why I made huge deal about this is not only because of what I pay, but also the possibility of reselling down the road.
Since this was suppose to be a Christmas gift, its currently sitting under the Christmas Tree. Unfortunately, I'll need to tell the recipient to Keep Calm and Wait; will need to see what T-Mobile suggests as they do understand these predicaments.

Warning for New comers...!

hi. i have had my eyes on this tab S 8.4 LTE since it was announced. i have been saving a lot so as to get this tablet.
the day i got all the money for this tablet saved, i went to the Samsung store and bought the device right. hell, i even paid extra for the Bronze color one.
i felt blessed and happy. after like half an hour of using the tablet, i found the stutter and lag to be all over the UI. it was not deal breaker but definitely was Heart breaker. for a premium one of a kind, Samsung Flagship tablet, i didnt expect that. i have owned Note 3 and both have EXACTLY the same hardware other than the screen.
but i got over that and accepted that as part of deal from samsung cause after all it had Touchwiz. i personally love touchwiz. i really do.
after like a week of usage, i started to feel like the battery on this tab is giving up on me. i tried every thing there was to try. i rooted it, removed the bloatware, installed greenify, swapped roms, minimized brightness and all i was advised by good folks here on this very good community of xda.
then i was told that many people here found the solution by re-sitting the battery connector on the mother board. and i tried that. i removed the back cover, with all the pain and cringing, and REALLY found the plug to be very loose. looked like some child had it just PLACED it on its place. it was not even all the way down. i did that, and boom, i got the battery back to normal, i un-noticed all the scars and scratches there were because of removing the back cover.
after like 4 or 5 days same **** started happening. battery would fail after like 3 hours of screen time and that also doing nothing just plain UI browsing, because my tab was in the period of showing it to friends and relatives. u know the usual stuff. people asking u to let them see your new tab. every body praised and loved the SUPER AMOLED!
after like some time, it literally gave up on me. it would not boot, it would power on. it would charge and that also very weirdly, when i plug it it sometimes said, 50% battery, then at the next second i remove the charger and re-connect it and it would show, 89% battery. the next second i would remove and re-connect the charger and it would say 4% battery.
i could not do anything. so i went to samsung OFFICIALL sales & repair centre and I LITERALLY MADE THAT STUPID ***** WRITE DOWN ON THE JOB SHEET TO NOT LOSE THE IR BLASTER COVER THINGY. they gave me 15 days of time for to repair it and asked for Rs 5000 which is equivalent to US $ 55 approx. i was like, ok if u fix it all well i can pay that. and FYI, the TABLET WAS IN FREAKING WARRANTY! IT WAS ONLY 20 DAYS OLD!
you get where im going? well i called them 15th day and they didnt pick my phone. i tried for next 2 days and they didnt pick any call. i went to their office and asked them what happened of the tablet. they said sorry we could not fix it and we were told this by our ENGINEERS the second day. i was like why didnt u tell me that before why make me wait 15 days and they said our phone was dead... MOTHER****ERS!
i asked them to return my tablet, they charged me Rs 1000 approx US $10 BEFORE returning me the tablet.
when they returned me the tablet, it had that IR blaster cover lost. i was so angry i cant explain. i could not do anything against them i went there 3 times and waited for like 30 min each time JUST TO SEE THE MANAGER AND HE NEVER MET... i wish they all die in deepest pits of hell for eternity. amin.
anyways, firstly i didnt trust the local small repair shops but i had no choice i gave the tab to one of shops and he repaird it for me in like 1 day. i was really happy. but he charged me Rs 3000 about US $30.
i started using the tab and it was fine. i got the normal 6-7 hours of screen on time. and btw, he didnt replace any thing including the batter.
since this saturday, the same **** started happening AGAIN. i went to the same shop and gave him the tablet to repair. just today he called me and told me the expense for this time repair would be Rs 5500 approx US $55.
NOW, this is my experience with samsung's greatest tablet ever. i have learnt my lesson the hard way i guess. Spending US $40 or $60 might not be a big deal for some of you Europeans or Americans out there but im from Pakistan. im a student. i dont get money very often to repair my ****. and that also a mere 28 days old BRAND NEW OUT OF THE ****ING BOX TABLET.
i know, i might get hate here as well, cause not many these days, understand others problems.
but i would advise you all new comers NOT TO GET THIS TABLET EVEN IF U ARE GETTING IT VIA SALE. i paid the full price and even more cause of import fees and taxes.
and btw, its not just me, there are many people who didnt get the battery life they were told they would get.
you have been warned.
Why didn't you get a replacement by warranty? Didn't get that.

HAHA... replacement? there is no such thing as replacement here mate! they only talk to the customers until they pay them and thats it. after that they dont have any time for you. as i have already said, they were not even ready to return me my device which they had ****ed up by losing the IR blaster cover. they said first i need to pay then they will return my tab. its been one of the ****ed up experiences of my life.
and to top things off, no one is there to complain. no executives, no senior person, no managers NOTHING! only sales girls with fake smiles and little cleavages. u see, women here, especially women who work in such sales department, like all over the world are used very wrongly. and in our country you can not even look at a woman with anger, let alone talk to them about the **** they did wrong to my tablet.
its very very saddening situation here man, very very saddening! people who have resources get everything and students like myself or people who have not much relations are the victims. i know if i were in any other country i could have sued their asses off. but here NO.
and its the device its self thats the problem. u see if samsung cuts its product lines even 25%, and works more on QC and software, things like thing would never happen.
all the hype around S6 and i bet you, it will all be the same. I bet you it will still lag, it will have almost the same issues as previous phones. yes there will be changes, but merely cosmetic!
Reality bites

Unfortunately, most of the stores in some countries are only third party/franchisee, so they don't offer the same wonderful customer service you may be accustomed to. They don't readily provide brand new unit replacements, heck, we usually even have to fight for parts replacement and settle at that (better than nothing, I guess).
From where I'm from, we're usually told, "we will have to have our technician take a look at it. Please come back after 5-7 business days." When we come back, they tell us that they were unable to elicit the problem, and if we want, they can have it sent to their main branch (in a different city) to take a look at it. Of course, they still end up telling you that there's nothing wrong with it and charge you anyway.
---------- Post added at 02:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:24 PM ----------
Thank you for this post. I actually considered getting the Tab S2 when it comes out. Your post reminded me of my past experience with a Galaxy Tab 8.9 and an S3 (tablet had a defective motherboard and I could only get the parts replaced, no new unit) and my Galaxy S3 wouldn't connect to a WiFi network unless I literally stood right next to the router (this one I actually did manage to get a replacement unit, but the trouble I had to go through..ugh).
Anyway, I'm so sorry for the trouble you had to go through.
Sorry but just because you had an bad experience it doesn't mean that others should be scared off. I bought my tab 's 8.4 on sale and I use it at least 4-5 hours per day without any lag at all and with around 35% battery left every day. I think you could just have said that you had a bad experience instead of telling everybody in bolded text that they shouldn't get it.
Except I have WiFi version. So if this is a common problem on the late version then I have nothing to say.

I agree - I have the 10.5 and yes it suffers from slight lag but theres ways around that (Nova/debloating etc).
My note 4 is the boss and not issues at all now i'm on 5.0.1. You can't really slat a manufacturer entirely if the country you reside in doesn't have the support required - you took that risk on.
As for the technical problems you are having, I guess taking apart a device that was under a month old kind of invalidates any warranty - if you didn't have one I suspect all you've done is cause problems for the engineers. Did you contact the sellers/retailer? Have you contacted samsung to see who they'd recommend/are there others that may be able to sort it out?
However if you cannot get Samsung repair service in your area, why didn't you consider a make that can be supported locally?
I imported a gear VR from the US to UK and if it went wrong I'd wholly expect Samsung not to honour the warranty....sometimes we take risks and it doesn't work out!
Well no doubt you had a nightmare experience and sorry that you didn't have my experience. For me I couldn't be happier and have zero regrets with my purchase. Other then the lag problem which was fixed by debloating and switching to nova launcher I really really really love my tab s and so glad I didn't get the iPad mini like I was planning.
Now I eagerly await the lollipop update.
Sucks that you can't get proper service. Sorry to hear that but a lot of us can get proper service so I don't think its right for you to tell people to stay away. If someone gets unlucky here where I am they can easily return it and get a new one. For me I was first disappointed by the battery life but have quickly realized maybe I was spoiled by the 10+ hours my ipad 3 got. I don't experience any lag and have mostly good things to say about the device. I do wish the battery would go a bit longer. My only complaint comes with the power button. After only a few weeks its not looking good. Its going to go at some point. It already looks like its pushed in.
I have a 10 as well, and I have had zero issues with it. I have read some other complaint threads, but I haven't had any issues at all with mine. Sucks to hear others have issues, but this is the finest tablet I have ever owned.

I imported a gear VR from the US to UK and if it went wrong I'd wholly expect Samsung not to honour the warranty....sometimes we take risks and it doesn't work out!

So if this is a common problem on the late version then I have nothing to say.

both of you are very right at your position. i might have also said the same things if i saw some thread like this and i had no trouble with my tablet.
but the thing is, samsung has Proper sales and service business here in my country. u would not even believe that some of the products are not even launched in some big countries but they are made available here. Note 4 was launched here 2 days before its international launch! same case with some other big tabs and smartphones.
removing the back cover does not void ANY kind of warranty. i snapped it back and no body could tell if i ever removed it. i dont have the tab with me, but when i will i will try to show you guys what the OFFICIAL samsung ENGINEERS did to it. i opened the back with a debit card and nails and they have proper equipment, i guess, but they ruined it for me. and how come they lose some part of the tab when i CLEARLY TOLD THEM & EVEN ROTE IT TO THEM NOT TO LOSE IT because its too small thing to lose.
any how, all of you guys who have no trouble with your tabs, great for you. i feel good for you. i would have called it my bad luck if it was my first experience with samsung device. i have had sasmsung devices for a very long time including even some of the house hold electronics. mobile division of samsung sucks balls in terms of QC.i remember having S2 having dead speaker after 2 months, S3 having strange glue marks on the AMOLED screen, S4 having heat up issues and now this.
@ Pills_e and i didn't write text in bold or what ever to seek attention. why didnt you write such a thread? because you didnt have a problem right? i just tried to warn people. i have said it already and would say it again, im a student. i dont have a full time job. its Very hard for me to spend US $40 or $60 after 10 days just like that on repairing a gadget that is not even available to me. it might be easy for you, but not for all.
i just advised based on my experience and its just sincere brotherly advise to all new comers. people will get what they like, no matter what. i just poured in my experience. thats it.

hi. i have had my eyes on this tab S 8.4 LTE since it was announced. i have been saving a lot so as to get this tablet.
the day i got all the money for this tablet saved, i went to the Samsung store and bought the device right. hell, i even paid extra for the Bronze color one.
i felt blessed and happy. after like half an hour of using the tablet, i found the stutter and lag to be all over the UI. it was not deal breaker but definitely was Heart breaker. for a premium one of a kind, Samsung Flagship tablet, i didnt expect that. i have owned Note 3 and both have EXACTLY the same hardware other than the screen.
but i got over that and accepted that as part of deal from samsung cause after all it had Touchwiz. i personally love touchwiz. i really do.
after like a week of usage, i started to feel like the battery on this tab is giving up on me. i tried every thing there was to try. i rooted it, removed the bloatware, installed greenify, swapped roms, minimized brightness and all i was advised by good folks here on this very good community of xda.
then i was told that many people here found the solution by re-sitting the battery connector on the mother board. and i tried that. i removed the back cover, with all the pain and cringing, and REALLY found the plug to be very loose. looked like some child had it just PLACED it on its place. it was not even all the way down. i did that, and boom, i got the battery back to normal, i un-noticed all the scars and scratches there were because of removing the back cover.
after like 4 or 5 days same **** started happening. battery would fail after like 3 hours of screen time and that also doing nothing just plain UI browsing, because my tab was in the period of showing it to friends and relatives. u know the usual stuff. people asking u to let them see your new tab. every body praised and loved the SUPER AMOLED!
after like some time, it literally gave up on me. it would not boot, it would power on. it would charge and that also very weirdly, when i plug it it sometimes said, 50% battery, then at the next second i remove the charger and re-connect it and it would show, 89% battery. the next second i would remove and re-connect the charger and it would say 4% battery.
i could not do anything. so i went to samsung OFFICIALL sales & repair centre and I LITERALLY MADE THAT STUPID ***** WRITE DOWN ON THE JOB SHEET TO NOT LOSE THE IR BLASTER COVER THINGY. they gave me 15 days of time for to repair it and asked for Rs 5000 which is equivalent to US $ 55 approx. i was like, ok if u fix it all well i can pay that. and FYI, the TABLET WAS IN FREAKING WARRANTY!

I'm so sorry for you. I hate that you've been through all of this stuff regarding samsung devices. I wonder if the tabs going to Pakistan are made in a different factory than United States ones? I hope you have better luck in the future.
Sent from my Galaxy Tab S 8.4 with much love to the xda community.
I have the 10.5 and am on a stock rom and have zero lag anywhere. Initially there was lag with the OS it was released with (I bought it release day) but subsequent updates removed all the lag I had. I love my Tab S and I get 11hrs watching videos on it on long flights and drives and the screen is amazing.
What you should have done was try to return the tablet for a replacement INSTEAD of opening the back. Opening the back voided your warranty and is not something I EVER do for ANY device I own that's within warranty period. Outside of the period I may take the chance but not a day before.
Sorry to hear this happened to you as I know how frustrating these kinds of things can be.
I'm Surprised!
I'm surprised that Samsung would even touch your Tab S 8.4! After you rooted it, changed the ROM and then opened the device up which a user is never supposed to do, I'm surprised your warranty is worth the paper it was written on.
You should have taken the Tab S back to whomever you bought it and got your money back.
Hmmmm... was just about to order a tab S 8.4 WiFi as well... Lol.
i have 10.5 LTE and the battery stand only 3.5 Hours after few month of purchase its stand around 6 hours before
i have already make root so i got KNOX flag 01
but i will pay 50$ if this will fix the problem but after i read your story im afraid to fix it and the problem come again .. i don't know what to do

Community needs to wake up, Seriously!

hi.im a loyal Samsung customer. i love their innovations, their experimentation, their ideas!
i love Note series, since Note 1, i never got anyother daily driver phone. it was always Note! the refined version of their S line.
Everybody knows how samsung treated Note 4. it is left like it is not even one of their own.
im not living in Europe or USA or Canada, where u can get subsidy from carriers and get a new phone and pay the rest monthly.
i have to get the cash, get it for almost 40% higher price than its price, or get it imported . i got mine imported.
Yesterday my Note 4 screen gave up on me. the left side of the display flickered and glitched out on its own for NO reason at all! i didnt drop it, i didnt put weight on it, it didnt get wet, NOTHING! all on its own, and mind u its only 20 days old phone.
its under warranty but i cant claim it cause i got it from UK and now i cant go back or send it back cause that would take time and lots of money especially when, if fixed, it comes back.
now i gave it for repair but they didnt satisfy me and said that these issues were common with S5 and onward phones from samsung. risk is higher cause it can be LCD issue which will cost me around $200, where i got this phone for $550
i had a Tab S8.4 this January, that had TERRIBLE battery issue, and after that motherboard died and i had to sell in for parts!
now all these stories and whats the outcome?
well i see many people here saying that looking at support from samsung for note 4 , they will not be getting any more samsung device, and blah blah.... then how come samsung sell millions of newer releases especially in European countries and USA? i mean, majority of their sales are in these areas right?
its sad, how **** their QC has gone, and even software support is ****! everyone knows they will not release 5.1 for international models until after Note 5 comes out.
Note 4 was supposed to be DAWN of new design language for samsung especially for their Flagships, but where is that philosophy now?
im not trying to be that mean dude, but it hurts when u spend ur hard earned money, u wait for a device u love, u get that and after 20 days u find its screen glitch out for no ****ING reason!
this is second time within few months, samsung betrayed me.
and its not just me, no major update in almost a year is bad from samsung.
so all who are saying they will not get Note 5 for lack of SD card slot, or removable battery, PLS STICK TO YOUR WORDS!
they have really really turned themselves like apple. samsung is the new apple now... but atleast, Apple knows a thing or two about QC and Software support. because without software support these phones are nothing more than a piece of hardware!
Unnecessary thread is unnecessary.

Why buy an imported version? Imports always have their risks no matter the brand. A screen replacement is always expensive due to the high costs of the amoled display (oem displays are always much more expensive than their knockoffs). Did you try calling a samsung service center for help? Sometimes they honor the warranty even if it is an import. If not then just send it back to the store you bought it from (should be cheaper than replacing the screen).

i knew i would get such comments and even hate for this. its not a personal matter.
i would eventually get my issue fixed, that not the problem. the problem is Samsung's behavior to its customers.
its us buying their products and when people find unnecessary issues and lack of support from company, we rage like hell. but then at the end we go and buy another one of their over priced product and the cycle keeps going on and on....
the reason of this thread is not to bash samsung or to bash its customers in anyway. i myself like samsung but not anymore and thats because of no one else but samsung themselves.
its only US, customers who can fix lot of issues.
im sure many here would understand my point, sad you didn't

Look it's not that I don't understand your point, it's the fact that your thread number 500 on this subject. I've already said I'm not buying another Samsung product.. I love my note 4 but have grown to dislike the lack of updates and most definitely the lack of open source on the TW side of things.
This is what happens when you take risks for granted. That extra 40% for a local version probably doesn't seem so bad now. You should consider an import as a no warranty device, not to mention you rooting it as well. I don't think I would purchase any kind of device today for $550 without some kind of warranty, unless I had 100% certainty the device would not fail.
I knew the risk when I bought my Note 4 and rooted it the second I brought it home. That was a $700 risk I was willing to accept with nobody else to blame but myself. (Of course I used the ol' amex warranty safety net, I am not totally reckless)
Conclusion: Suck it up, move on, and hopefully learn something from the experience.
I'm with you. The Note 4 amazed me when I got it, but the Lollipop update and amazingly long delays in fixing the issues, seeing all Samsungs old, ****ty models getting 5.1.1 before their newest most expensive flagship phone really soured me off the experience. With the Note 5 looking total ****, it seems like there's no real reason to stay with Samsung. Great hardware (except the Note 5), but their support and software are ****.
I totaly agree with you and I will not buy any Samsung phone/product in the future. I have Note 4 and Tab S and on Note 4 I had to lose warranty and root it to get the ROM that is working to some point and on Tab S I have stock and it is HORRIBLE! Gr8 piece of HW with crappy SW = not worth it! Thx to this incompetent Samsung like engeniers Apple is still on top thx to good support and great SW with lesser HW.
Sent from my SM-N910C using Tapatalk
see! i told you guys! samsung says no Note 5 for Europe and also just look at what they made us wait for our Note 4 5.1, this ****ty fingerprint magnet Note 5.
what are the upgrades? NOTHING!

Mi 9T Pro/K20 Pro Out of Stock Everywhere

I have been trying to get the device for months.
I tried getting the Chinese K20 Pro off AliExpress. At first, I ordered it from the seller Mi Global Store, but they kept saying there's a shortage. I waited for a month and then they asked me to switch to the Global ROM version, the one they unlocked its bootloader and flashed it with supposedly malicious software. I canceled the order and thankfully got my money back.
Two weeks later, I ordered the Mi 9T Pro variant from another seller, Xiaomi Official Store, and they did just the same - kept saying that it's out of stock and that there are quality issues in the black one. I eventually canceled the order from that seller as well.
I also don't think I would get one locally since it's so expensive here.
Any thoughts about where I can get one for cheap?
Gearbest? I ordered one (Mi9T Pro Global version 6/128) there yesterday afternoon and it shipped out first thing this morning apparently.
I got mine from Gearbest. Paid £282 (~$370) for the Global Pro 128-6GB variant in blue. I also unnecessarily shelled out for the shipping insurance but on the flip side I didn't get a customs bill.
Check around for vouchers before going ahead. Gearbest's "window prices" are sometimes inflated and getting your hands on a promo code (usually tucked away in a newsletter) brings it in-line with AliExpress' best price.
Good phone but not sure if I should have bothered with the Pro version. The non-pro variant is apparently just as good in real-world use and if you don't play videogames the Pro's power is kinda wasted. I might feel differently if Android Switch emulation suddenly takes off.
FYI - It's also impossible to get glass screen protectors that fit it properly. The front panel glass tapers away slightly on all four sides - so it'd be an extra costly phone if it were to get dropped. Hydrogel protectors work fine but glass screen protectors leave a white edge or 'halo' on all sides not unlike when you get an air or dust bubble but instead it's consistent with all screen edges like it's not adhered properly or something. The hydrogel ones adhere fine because they're essentially flexible plastic - but they don't offer much protection for anything other than scratches (something Gorilla Glass is already fairly resistant to). Be sure to buy a clear gel case; the one included is brittle black plastic; it's useless and covers the shiny back plate in its entirety.

I will take that into consideration. Thanks!
I bought one on friday from JD Central Thailand. It was for sale at the Official Mi store for 10,990 baht. Which is $362 USD https://item.jd.co.th/3742465.html
They have 1000 baht off coupon you can apply. I image they would post international. But you would need to check.
They are not unlocked and are true global units.

I don't play games but I did want the dual band GPS for increased accuracy. Only the pro has the dual band option. I am yet to see a review that mentions that in any detail. Why are so many reviews focused on what the stupid box and packaging is like and avoid actually important specs of a phone?

I don't know what EEA means. If you want an answer you will need to clearly explain what you are talking about. The Mi Store told me the the 9T pros are global versions have all the $g bands for both thailand and Australia and are not unlocked bootloaders.

Nice. Enjoy it. I have been using mine for a few days and I am fairly happy with MIUI. I have only used Pure android phones for the last 7 years or so. The only thing I find irritating in MIUI is that there are so many notification options and I can't turn off all the sounds when anything happens yet. Just when I thought I was only getting sounds when a new notification comes in, some new sound appears for some unknown reason... But I will get there.
I also found that some web sites aren't registering the phone as a mobile and force the desktop site no matter what my browser (of the main ones I have tried) and no matter if I have browser forced to show mobile site.
Other than that, all good. Battery time is terrific.

Great. I personally can't put up with anything other than stock Android, because I need to get all my personalized settings and other stuff out of my stock Android OnePlus 3. I also don't like the design aesthetics of MIUI. For this reason, I will flash either Evolution X or Pixel Experience right when I first get my hands on the phone.
