Off Topic - BLU R1 HD Questions & Answers

So how many R1 HD users are awaiting the release of Google Allo? I have to admit I am intrigued...

Now that I'm aware of it yes, just pre-registered. I saw a leaked all that I'm not chomping at the bit to try, but it looks like official release is still up in the air?

Well they released Duo, can't imagine Allo being far behind. I absolutely hated Hangouts, but Allo looks much more promising.

Any word on an ICS update?

Has anyone heard anything new about us officially getting ICS? It is taking forever, i know our ROM's are stable enough without it but i miss the camera
no news yet.
it was supposed to be Q2 as far as i remember but time is running out.
im seriously pissed off at samsung who are being real d*cks about updating devices to ics.
even small sh*tty devices like huawei media pad have had official ics updates and we bought the most expensive tab thinking it would entail good support but so far nothing
basically i've given up waiting. when it comes ill be happy but im not counting the days / holding my breath
Totaly agree!, I am using ROM Stock (3.2) and I gave up about Sammy ICS, I'am waiting a net model with ICS in Brazil, but I feel so sorry because I think we will have no 8.9 new models
:\

For source that has been out since October? Take the Galaxian Soup AOSP and add the camera and touchwiz. Done.
This is an insane wait with so many other tegra 2 devices already having official ICS ROMs

According to this on Android Central it's going to be late July
July was confirmed by Samsung on Facebook Last Month
Waiting for warmer weather here in the UK before they start dishing out Ice cream Sandwiches

Well Samsung is always late for updates because they always manage to release a new device where there are new android versions coming up. :S
I can understand why they wouldn't want to update, I tried the galaxy tab 2 and it's much smoother and really working very well with ICS considering is the same hardware it just doesn't make sense to update when you can buy the same thing again just for the software update.
Honestly I would even pay some dollars to Samsung if they allow me to update next month.

Well - the P7300 isn't mentioned in there at all :-(
Am I right in assuming that the SGH-i957 and the P7300 are completely different (the custom ROMs would suggest so)

yes completely different!
they use different hardware thats why the roms aren't compatible from one to another!

Yeah, but that argument doesn't hold because most of their new devices are still released with Gingerbread. The Galaxy IIIS is actually an exception and not the rule. Go to gsmarena.com and look at all the newly released and announced Samsung phones--most on Gingerbread

Why would you say that? They don't even make an 8.9 Wi-Fi only anymore if what I'm getting on their website is correct. Unless that is you are not talking about the Wi-Fi one.
For Wi-Fi only people there is no new device.

Marshmallow

They say update for p7 marshmallow is coming!
https://curved.de/news/huawei-ascend-p7-erhaelt-update-auf-android-6-0-marshmallow-346090
mmm.. is it really trustworthy?
Hm, curved is legit, but I don't think it's true though. The news is based on a inside-handy.de article referring to statements of the German Telekom (an operator). I think they just messed something up, maybe they were talking about the mate 7.
Huawei would've publicated there update-plans if there would be one's.
You never know
Here is another link about possible firmware: http://www.inside-handy.de/news/38914-telekom-android-updates
on hungarian forum told me maybe march will be testing on p7, so ithink not rumour !!!

Yeah, that's the article curved referred to, both articles are basicly based on a statement of Telekom. They probably made a mistake, I assume. I'd be really glad to recieve marshmallow, but the chances are to my mind very low..

I don't know why do you all think it's impossible for p7 to get marshmallow.. P7 & P8 were the phones that turned another page for Huawei.. I think they just might get us marshmallow, even tho it is a long shot.

The P6 didn´t get Lollipop, the P7´s stable release was about 1 year after Google published 5.0. I just highly doubt Huaweis' interest in providing updates.. Anyway, maybe, in long-term, you'll be right. Don´t let me discourage you from hoping
If they do, I'll certainly buy another Huawei. Even though I have to update it by hand, they do offer updates so I'm fine with that. I just hope they'd get rid of stupid CUST nonsense that keeps breaking ****.
:good:Awesome
That would be awesome if marshmallow came to our device. I just really hope that this time they release a stable version of marshmallow, because it really took a long time for a proper lollipop to come.

Google-ish N build

So, it's quite possible that our much beloved Nexus 5 doesn't receive final Android N, afterall.
In that case, I was wondering it anyone would be interested in providing a custom N build, with no changes, compared to Google's own build.
I mean, ODEX, non-zipaligned, no root, nothing. Just stock like stock Google software.
I'd pay for this.
Is it possible for someone to create a ZIP that can be sideloaded in the default recovery?

When the final release is out, it's pretty safe to say that someone will make a build for the Nexus 5. Until then, there is nothing devs can do right now. Google currently doesn't have everything available to do so.
Yes, I know.
I'm talking about the future, after N is uploaded to AOSP.
I know there will be lots of ROMs, but I just wanted stock Google software, no root, theme, anything.
Basically, an unofficial Google OTA.
I'm willing to pay for this, and I can gather many people to join this cause.
probably Google will release android N to Nexus 5, but its the last official release to it. Just like Nexus 4 on Lollipop era, was pretty the same thing.
How is that surprising they want you to buy the next device so if they drop support look at it this way you can always install a ROM and I'm confident you will see something up fast

Nop, Google won't release the Android N for Nexus 5, as they dropped the support for newer releases in October 2015. But of course that as soon as the source code is out we'll get the update because the devs will take care of that

Since you aren't clairvoyant I'll wait to see. The N7 2013 got MM but if you go by the date listed on googles site they stoped officially supporting it in July of 2015. And if not, eh.. There will be tons of N roms once its released. Most likely day one.

True though xD
Looks like afterwards I have reason
We all know there will be lots of ROMs.
But the purpose of this thread, is to get to know if any developer would like to provide a stock "Google" equivalent, for those that want their N5 to feel like it's been updated by Google itself.
I'll sure try, especially if there is money on the line lol
I won't make any promises, but I'll gladly take a look when the source gets out if I still have the device.
I've been reading stuff on Reddit, and many people would appreciate this "Google experience" ROM.

It's officially over for us. It's up to the devs now.

No it is not officially over, nothing on that page confirms it is officially over. Only the ''Guaranteed" support is over for the Nexus 5.
That doesn't mean it won't get Android N, I think the chance for a official release of Android N for the N5 is really small but there's still a chance it will get it.
Till the final release of Android N is out no one knows anything for sure if it comes to the future of the N5.

I know he used to do it for the N5, pretty sure I've seen his builds for a few other phones as well. That was his thing. When a new Android OS comes out he usually releases a stock / AOSP build. Non rooted, no mods, etc. I'm not sure if he's still around though, but it can't hurt to ask.

Looking at the history of ROMs in the past here on XDA, there is usually always someone who ports a pure AOSP build with no mods. I wouldn't worry about it much. Especially this early.
I hope so.
Not really into modding/rooting/whatnot.
A stock Google-ish ROM for me, and I'll be happy.
Dont worry man.. Nexus 5 is still pretty popular phone and dev friendly so IMHO you shouldn't be worried at all.. There is i believe 99% chance u will have Android n, just be patient for a couple of months when the Android n will be officially released

Nougat

Why are we not getting any beta updates?
Beta for 3T will come after final release for 3.
Simply because there are more oneplus 3's in customers hands than 3T.....But I think they could unify now with beta 10, the timeframe is off for Nougat before end of month, with Beta 10 just dropped.
But patience is a great thing.....I'm not to fussed as I like Xposed for a few things (not currently available on Nougat) So they can take as long as they need.....

Not sure why people is so hyped for new updates and stuff.from what i've seen on internet, there are not too many changes on android 7 than we have now on 6, except the dpi which for me seems to be a nice thing to have, but not that important. you guys need to learn how to enjoy your beautiful phone, without being hyped for the updates. If they release early, it will be full of bugs and then you will curse them.better wait 1-2 or 3 months more and fix all those issues, instead of receiving a faulty update which will ruin my beautiful 3t experience.

Chances of Updates

Anyone think we'll get any updates now that the 'S' versions of the phone have been released?
Or shall the regulars just be forgotten?
In my eyes it's a total joke.. they are releasing a new phone before they fixed the firmware of the last one wtf is this.

Well, the new phone was announced shortly after the original, to be honest. It's because the new chip was released.
That being said, their updates are few and far between and barely scratch the surface of the issues. Especially given that the global version is missing a ton of things over the Chinese one.
It's a missed opportunity....
OnePlus conquered a part of the smartphone world because of their amazing hardware, coupled with great software support and supporting the modding community.
Nubia could go the same way if they would've spend more time on their software support, instead of spitting out great devices with poor software...

You know what, I can't argue. It was less than $400, and from China
I got 6 OTA software updates since i got the device. Last one was after the official launch of the 3S.
