Xiaomi Redemi 3s Pro - hard brick (no power led, no turning on) - Mi 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
While flashing in Miflash i get some error. After that my MI is brick. When I plugin it to PC is discoverd by driver ive used to access with Miflash but looks like im unable to get into fastboot mode so Miflash dont see phone at all.. I saw that there is an option to connect some pins at motherbord to "froce" phone into this mode but i couldnt find any information about it for that exact model.
Do anybody can share with me any information how i can solve that problem? Maybe there is way to fix it without opening the phone? Or if opening is the only way, any pics or shema what exacly i should connect and in which order to force phone into fastboot?
Pls help. Its brand new phone

Go to
En.miui.com/thread-245347-1-1.html
There are instructions there.
Like u mentioned, connecting the pins is the only one I know of.
There is a video there to for help. See if that works.
I hope u get it up and running coz I know how it feels to hard brick a new phone.

Yes. Im exactly looking for something like this one but that tutorial is for Note 3 Pro.. and i have s3 Pro. Totally different phone and motherboard. Any idea where i can find information for my phone? Dont wanna smoke it up while connecting wrong pins. Two days of hard research gave me nothing.

Are you sure it is a 3s pro? Or 3s prime?
Also how did u manage to hard brick it?

I dont know if this will help but just check the below link. This usually helps in case your partition is gone and that is the reason for no fastboot.

3. In Device Manager with Qualcome drivers i can see only Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 900E.
3a. I cant see any "sd" drive or other "memory".
4. Ive tryed to unplug battery and after that nothing changed in Device Manager
5. I saw http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/urgent-help-qualcomm-hs-usb-diagnostics-t3382169 but it wont work for me couse i cannot switch to fastboot and every single option there ask for it.
So thats how i ****ed up my phone.. any sugestions?
Anyway thanks for any advice since now... My mate told me about xda forum like "dude.. if u have ****up like that the only place where u can find solution is xda"

Try the solution by @rajumack07 before doing something with the hardware. Fixing your bootloader should get you up and running.
http://www.leakite.com/2016/06/revised-how-to-unbrick-qualcomm-android.html
I faced a similar scenario with my other phones. MI3 and Micromax Canvas 2. And I don't fear them any more. So i wish you the best and let us know when it is working

Have you opened the phone?
If yes, try the steps in this to get to Emergency Download mode.
http://xiaomitips.com/guide/how-to-unbrick-redmi-note-3-snapdragon-best-solution/
If you havent opened the phone, just take it to the service center. It will be lame but easier.
I wish I had that phone with me. It would have been easier with Screen shots and pictures.

Yup its open but as i said its NOT Note 3.. its 3s.. there is different motherboard. And in my country there is no any Xiaomi service.

I KNOW I KNOW. I know that you have a 3s and not 3. I was giving the link coz the steps are almost the same for alsmost all Qualcomm devices.
I believe 3s has a Qualcomm processor right?
It would be better if you can attach some pictures of the motherboard and phone in the OP.
The reason I gave that link is that you know what to do and Just improvise!
Basically (carefully) remove the pins for battery and USB. Find them and follow the process. See if it works.

I don't think following the process of entering 9008 by cables is the only one. Please try with the link I had posted. If the diagnostic mode what you are saying also has "9008" along with it, then you're in download mode and you can proceed using the link I had posted or by @Deathonator. But if it's in 9006 mode, then you will have to make it to 9008, the steps are in the same link in my above post.

[SOLVED!] ULTRA Brick - Oreo Firmware OB16 Over Nougat ROM/kernel/TWRP DESTRUCTION?

Or as bricked as these Qualcomm devices CAN be?
Hey all,
The TL;DR is basically where the list starts
I was running Blu's TWRP v45, the latest PureFusion, Blu's latest Custom kernel, had OB15 firmware underneath. I had been SO USED to simply downloading the newest firmware from kamilmirza's AFH page and just flashing it + it being totally fine that I did it without thinking for OB16. I wasn't too worried because about a week ago I had flashed the unofficial Oreo Lineage and it worked just fine! Plus, I just assumed if it died I could just restore a backup or re-flash the older OB. But as soon as I flashed the new firmware/modem by itself this time on an otherwise perfectly running device, I only saw the OnePlus splash screen. No booting, no access to recovery, no NOTHIN.
I tried flashing the beta TWRP version afterward via fastboot but no dice. Also tried temporary booting via fastboot to it, flashing Blu's again, booting to that. Everything the same result. Splash screen & nothing more. I then went to the extent of trying to format all the partitions and flash a boot.img or do a "-w update" or "flashall" command via fastboot. Because everything out in the universe is a recovery-flashable-zip, it seems like there's no way I can flash the necessary OTA stuff to bring it back to life!
My only remaining idea is getting this damn unbrick tool to work (duhh). I can see the Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 in device manager after doing the Vol Up (only) and plugging the cable in. BUT the MSMDownloadTool just cannot see the device. Not in bootloader, not in the weird Vol-Up/cable state. [This is with Qualcomm drivers QUD.WIN.1.1 Installer-10037.3 Setup.exe, the official OnePlus drivers, ADB & Fastboot installed.]
Sorry for long explanation. In the end, what I'm left with is:
Blank formatted partitions (I hope... I'm not even positive they wound up formatted from the fastboot commands)
Fastboot is detected, but no ADB devices are found
Can get to bootloader, but nothing else
No recovery access - Flashing beta akhilnarang Oreo recovery does nothing. Flashing stock recovery does nothing. Flashing Blu_Spark recovery does nothing. (The fastboot commands succeed though each time somehow)
So far the only suggestion I've received is trying the MSMDownloadTool/unbrick process on another computer.
Does anyone have ANY ideas? From my experience, it seems like what might help me would be if a folder with the specific partition images existed for the OTAs, like how Google offers. (boot.img, recovery.img, user-data.img, system and so on). Am I wrong in thinking that? OnePlus has told me this simply does not exist and cannot give me anything like that (don't know why, when they already offer all the OTA flashables...)
PS - OnePlus support just absolutely refuses to even let me communicate to a "level 2" representative to ask a couple of the more technical questions about it. I can't understand why. They are insisting I start an RMA and send it for repair. They even initially scheduled a time for me to talk to higher level rep and then thought up a reason to cancel it via email an hour or so later...
Edit: Just in case the thread gets large and people don't read further posts, this is using:
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
Test mode for the driver signing is enabled. Have the watermark bottom right of desktop
It's with the stock DASH cable
Tried multiple ports
Unfortunately it just doesn't show up in MSM at all, even with hitting 'enumerate' button multiple times
Tried starting the tool BEFORE the device is plugged in, as well as after
This is what Device Manager shows (attached) but just nothing in MSM all the way up & down
HOW IT GOT SOLVED:
At the end of the day, I had to fight and convince OnePlus support to grant me a remote session with Level 2 Support.
(Attached final image) These two password protected RAR files had almost identical tools as the Unbrick tutorial on XDA.
The major difference was that MSMDownloadTool was version 3.0.8 ***does anyone have this version??*** I can't get into these RARs. The 3.0 tool circulating did not work for me. We might need the newer version as time goes on?? Otherwise, the process was identical.
Unfortunately, the image they used was for 7.1.1. I had to unlock the bootloader and after doing that and getting OB15 & the RR build I wanted, etc, I then realized my phone was force-encrypted as well.
The only toolkit that worked for force decrypting once everything else worked was:
OnePlus_3_3T_5_64bit_TOOLKIT_by_Neisor
Finally, something like 3 clean flashes later, we Gucci.
Thanks for the attempted help to those that did! Hopefully this can help someone else.
Which Windows do you have? Have you tried MSMtool in safe mode? Or disabling Driver Signature Verification (any Windows after XP). I have got my phone so messed up that it was showing many lines with red "failed" text nearly on everything. No OS, no recovery, no boot, I think even modem was failed. This screen but I had way more fails https://forums.oneplus.net/attachments/win_20160928_21_31_49_pro-jpg.459494/
As long as you can turn your phone off and on, it's doable. But you need to do that USB plugging + volume up thing while phone is totally off (you can hear Windows making bling when you connect it while pressing volume up, but phone itself stays screen off). And there shouldn't be anything on the screen before/while MSMtool do its job.
You can try different USB ports too.

Hahaha yes...... That's why I made this post though! It SEEMS like it should be possible to recover from this since fastboot commands + bootloader work! It SEEMED like it would be easy to recover from if anything went wrong... But, here I am.
Oh yeah forgot to mention ~
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
Test mode for the driver signing is enabled. That part of the process went totally fine with BIOS and installing stuff, etc.
Also, shot in the dark but might @Funk Wizard have any ideas? Sorry to call out for this
Hopefully someone knows better how to solve this. For me the MSMtool part is always the hardest part too, usually it finds the phone, but throws some strange "Sahara communication failed" error. I noticed that even different USB cable can be a problem, but since your Windows finds "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008" I guess that's not the case. Does it say something after that "Qualcomm 9008" -thing? For me it shows (COM3 or COM4 depending on which port it's in).
btw, I messed up my phone in nearly similar case, flashing wrong firmware when using leaked H2OS ROM.

Hmm, ok.
Stock dash cable works, so that part is ok. Also usb3.0 ports should work too, atleast for me. So everything else seems to be ok except the MSMtool itself
Try different cable, bin there done that!!

I hope you find a solution, since my experience sounds similar to yours Ill share it and maybe you can find something to help out.
I was exactly where you are for about 3 hours last night.
Boot would always get stuck at the splash screen. Could boot into Fastboot, tried using the Skipsoft tool to fastboot flash a stock image but it kept failing.
As far as the Unbrick Tutorial goes, I know the first thing I kept messing up was thinking I needed to press the power button while holding the volume up and connecting to the PC
Also when I tried to manually update the driver on "Qualcomm 9088" it said it was already up to date.
Then I just ran the MSMTool it flashed 6.0.1 back on my phone and I was back in business.
Im sure this is the guide you followed: Here
I found another on the oneplus forums that is essentially the same but goes into a little more detail in the steps: Here
Since I was back completely Stock including Recovery I went ahead and sideloaded OB16 to get the firmware and modem then went about rooting, unencrypting etc...
Lost a few days worth of files but I'm back running LunuxOS Oreo right now.
Good luck I know how you feel. :good:
I've got it revived! I'll update OP. Sadly, it required OnePlus's intervention.

Sorry, I just saw your mentioning somehow I missed it, happy you got your phone back already, unfortunately not independent for big OP, did you guys already share this new 3.08 MSM-download-tool to the well established threads or did you I missed this too? This information and according files should be shared with the community and easy to find for those poor souls who unintentionally killed their beloved device...
---------
Edit: further sharing isn't necessarily needed, you did already a pretty good job by naming the thread and describing the situation thoroughly, only suggestion could be to link the updated MSM-download-tool download to the first post with some hint, just an idea though...

If you know about the testpoint pin or edl mode, i guess you are in big trouble and doing a lot of research about it now or even talked to those guys who can remote in to your pc and unbrick your device using TeamViewer
My advice is dont waste your time, just find a way to send it back to China to get it fix.
Nobody have any clues about this testpoint pin and PiLyTam is BS, testpoint pin on all other Xiaomi model will be close together, HTF that this model can be so far away that you cant even use tweezer to short it?
BTW, if your phone is in below condition, not just one but all combined. Trust me, dont waste your time
- your phone is in bootloop and your phone have no OS installed because you have already delete it with TWRP
- bootloader is locked
- you have using that sh1tty xiaomi flashtool and haven't noticed that "flash and lock" was selected by default
Oh and by the way, welcome to the sh1tty group of being xiaomi's customers, dont get me wrong the phone is great but if you are not in China and using "grey products" you are on your own

Have a look here for test point. You will need to read it properly saying something about serious problems later. Not sure if he is talking about the battery or the cable that hides the pins to be disconnected.

**Continue at your own risk**
You'll have to detach battery cable first before attempting to circuit the 2 testpoints as shown on the picture. Don't forget !
In order to reach the 2 points you'll have to disconnect the ribbon cable as shown in the video. Then connect the 2 points (with a clip or anything that can connect both) and reconnect the ribbon cable again (keep holding the 2 points).
That would be it

I'm not an expert but if you phone don't event turn on, how you expect someone to help you? The only one who can help you it's a service or a repair lab. I don't think that the problem is in software.

As far as i know Mi 9 cepheus doesn't have rollback protection.... Maybe this miui 11 beta has, and i didn't know.
EDIT: It does not have any ARB... I did something wrong but dunno what
You can try to unlock again with Mi Unlock tool. Helped in my case which was different from yours though. But you've got nothing to lose anyhow.
Cheers

I was so pissed off! I thought i could use my phone like every day, and this happened... Everything is great with Xiaomi imo except this...
You need to open back cover, find EDL testpoint pins and flash full ROM through MiFlash.
If you dont have authorized Mi account for EDL flash, find someone who have it.

If you can go under the device manager and see if there is a usb device connecting? It may be in Snapdragon's flash mode. If it is, you need to find someone with a privledged account or goto the mi store.

Can you dubbelcheck the rom you tried to flash? Make sure its really for MI9? This kind of trouble most of the time happens when flashing a rom for another phone. Like MI9T or something.

Yes it was cepheus_global_images_V10.2.13.0.PFAMIXM_20190709.0000.00_9.0_global. I followed every instruction for flashing with MiFlash tool....
I had a similar problem when I received the phone, I couldn't start it right out of the box, it's certainly not the same problem but I waited a few hours and then I had the idea to boot it in fastboot and when I restarted it, it worked

Bricked my phone today...

So I had flashed TWRP earlier and didn't realise that I had to reflash the stock recovery before re locking the bootloader. I re locked the bootloader because I wanted the finger print scanner to work again, but now I am left with a bootlooping phone. I was going to try to flash the stock recovery, but I cannot install the Realme X2 Pro drivers for some reason on Windows. I am going to try using FWUL to flash the stock recovery, but I don't know if it is going to work. Any advice for a poor noob soul like me?
Edit: FWUL was no dice. Couldn't even get the phone to be detected while holding down the volume button to possibly put it into EDL mode. I'm gonna have to buy an EDL cable so I can short it and boot to EDL and reflash the stock recovery. Tune in on Sunday to find out what happens next!
Don't buy any cable, you can't boot to EDL without twrp.

I actually managed to get it in EDL mode and it shows up in device manager in Windows. I don't know what to do from here though... I tried using the msm download tool but i cant get the tool to even open on my PC.
Really ? How, with cable ?
With locked bootlader I am sorry to say this but you need unbrick (EDL) rom of X2 Pro.
Maybe try OnePlus 7T's unbrick rom ? Who knows it might work if they both share the same loader, or you may end up with hard brick.

No not with a cable. I just held down the volume up button while plugging it in and it went to EDL mode. I dont think I will be able to use the OnePlus rom, but I know they do use the same bootloader so maybe it's possible? I am gonna wait and see if i can get the msm download tool for this phone from support and use that before going to the last resort of the OnePlus rom.

Funny thing, I have CN version, first thing I tried Volume Up and plugging ubn cable, like any other OnePlus till today, but no luck. My phone goes into EDL only from twrp.
Anyway, I am searching Chinese forums for unbrick rom too, will let you know if I can find.
did you find anything ?

Found the rom but MSMSdonwloader wats password.
No one yet knows and until a working Tool is found then it’s game over. I have tried twice contacting RealmeEU but they never respond. Absolutely terrible customer service, where they can’t reply to an email.
Despite the X2 being a great value device, what they really need to also vastly improve on is responding to their customers.
I brick my CN version Realme x2 pro too. but I flashed official ROM with OTG and resolved.
I tried, edl not work, there is no worked msmdownloadtool.
Anyone find a unbrick method yet?
any update yet??
i have the exact problem

Hello , I was successful to extract the ofp firmware for the CN and GLOBAL version. The firmware is kind of QFIL based firmware and include patch0.xml , rawprogram0.xml , prog_firehose_ddr.elf that can be loaded on the Qualcomm QFIL tool for flashing a stock rom on EDL mode without having a unlock bootloder. I have posted a guide, go try it and post a comment if it works - https://forum.xda-developers.com/realme-x2-pro/how-to/to-unbrick-hard-brick-device-lock-t4091925 .Please read full details in the guide .
so, did someone managed to find a way around that?
i got the same issue bootloader Locked with unable to boot device due to damaged (boot/recovery)
but I can get to the EDL Mode
is there something I can do to fix this with del mode?
Also i get mine brick is there any way to solve it ?
Any updates yet? My phone isn't bricked but I'm trying to be sure whether i can flash stock rom if anything goes wrong..

Hard Bricked Mi9 Global

So have I done something that apparently no one else has on XDA.
Hard bricked my Mi9?
I have heard that you cannot go back from Miui 11 to Miui 10 on China based models or try an install a rom with a locked bootloader.
None of those things are the case here as this is a global Mi9 purchased within New Zealand.
None of the usual tricks work. No battery light black screen no input response from buttons.
Appears like a total hard brick an I have no idea why. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with hard bricked Mi9s that have bricked for no reason after I did standard things an the bootloader was unlocked?
what about edl ? do you already try it?

The idea of unsealing my Mi9 an looking for 2 tiny points to connect does not appeal.
Maybe I could pay a technician to try it

Connect the charger, hold all the buttons (except the AI one), until you feel the phone vibrate or at least see the battery charging LED blink.
Don't let go after 5-10 seconds, but keep holding for 30+ seconds. See if anything happens.
a while ago i bricked my mi9se (because of lazyiness while flashing wrong android rom version with a wrong twrp without changing twrp version before).
so fastboot or recovery not worked. EDL mode was only enterable with contact/test point method -> opening back, connect the two points, connect usb cable. (you have to look on youtube for the right contact points for mi9).
so i entered EDL mode, but:
you have to have a authorized xiaomi account to flash something, and a special xiaomi tool to do that. no chance to skip that. believe me.
on older xiaomi devices you maybe can flash something on your own in edl mode. not so on newer devices like the mi9se, and presumably also on mi9.
you have to have your phones back removed, and look for somebody on the internet with a authorized xiaomi account. there are some ppl out there, which maybe can unbrick your phone in EDL mode via teamviewer for a charge around 15 to 25 bucks.

When you connect the phone to the PC , go to control panel and then under device manager, Com ports you should see Port 9008. if so you are in EDL mode. As long as your phone is bound to you ( you have the needed credentials to sign into MiCloud, you should be able to restore your phone.)
I do not have the mi9 Yet. I have a Mi8 and I am considering a Mi9
Try flashing the global fastboot rom for your device.
IMPORTANT >>>>>>> It must be a fastboot images rom and not a regular recovery rom<<<<<<
Use google for the absolute latest build, I spent 30 seconds just now and found this page which as it linked : https://xiaomifirmware.com/roms/download-official-miui-roms-for-xiaomi-mi-9/ You want/NEED the one called " 11.0.3.0 QFAMIXM | Fastboot | Download"
Unpack Rom twice on your desktop, ( Its double compressed, must be unpacked twice.)
Open folder and you will see a folder that is called Images and a series of batch files.
With phone connected and in EDL or fastboot , double click "flashall.bat" Do not choose the file that asks to lock the bootloader , if it exists) This batch file will restore every single partition from the folder called images.
When it is finished the phone will reboot, sign into your wifi, and then Mi Cloud account and begin setup.
Be sure to make a Twrp backup and save it to your desktop.
You are welcome, enjoy your phone.
PS: if this fails you may need to buy a deep flash cable from Amazon, they cost $6 to $20
https://www.amazon.com/Flash-Cable-xiaomi-Models-Engineering/dp/B06ZYG46VZ Another option is using a program called QPST
If this helped you, you are welcome to buy me a beer, via my paypal. If you can afford to do so.
Tried button pushing advice an no luck. Will try this but am pretty sure surgery is probably my best option.
Thanks for trying to help. 11.0.3.0 is an excellent rom an I've had success several times with soft bricks as it bricked in a bootloader loop with the little Xiaomi cartoon thingy.
I might try your suggestion with both my miflash set up an my miflashpro set up ?
