Touchscreen feels slow, unresponsive - BLU R1 HD Questions & Answers

I just got my R1 HD out of the box and have immediately noticed that the touchscreen often requires me to try tapping a couple times before it registers. Has anyone else seen this happen? Very annoying.

Yep I noticed that myself. I'm coming from an LG G2 that had touch issues, and its great a new phone is almost as bad.

I'm wondering if its just a quality control issue? Some report it slow or unresponsive. Personally I have not experienced this. If your experiencing this right out of the box, I would definitely be contacting Amazon for an immediate replacement. I would end up throwing my phone over touch issues, and we all know that's not a warranty claim

Return it immediately. Mine has zero touch issues.

I've been having this problem and made a thread about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/r1-hd/help/touch-screen-periodically-starts-t3439547
Ordered a unit and started having the touch problems described in the OP a few hours after I got it.
Had it replaced by amazon and the replacement is doing the same thing too. Not only does it randomly exhibit the described behavior but sometimes while scrolling it loses track of my finger and starts pressing everything in the path of my scrolling.
Really aggravating. If there isn't some kind of software fix we can possibly do I'm going to have to return it, don't have time to deal with it anymore.
It's a shame because I really love everything else about the phone.

L-Speed after root
After you root it download L-Speed from google playvand go to main tweaks. Hope this helps.

What version of the phone are you using? 16gb/2gb or the 8gb/1gb? I have the 16gb/2gb and works fine. I wish the speaker phone was 50% louder.

I did as well, but Viper helped alot. At least the speaker and headphones, ear piece is still way to low for me.
I have issue with touchscreen issues as well, but only along the edges, it has issue getting right to the edge.

For the earpiece volume:

No issues with wired ear buds, actually too loud. What is Viper?
Thx

Viper is a kernel module / app that gives you more control over audio settings, at least for speaker, headset, and bluetooth. It needs root ( and the magisk systemless stuff works great with it for me) but then you can edit stuff like gain, equalizer, and many more things. I honestly don't know what 90% of it does, I just use the gain boost.
You can find it in the play store (though I had no luck with this one for some reason), or if you use magisk a flashable zip is in the 2nd or 3rd post in the magisk thread.

How did you install Viper? I tried and it reset the phone lol Had to go through the entire process of rooting again.
Any other audio mods that work?

Using magisk, it justworks.tm. Just installed the zip, then the app. Never had an issue.
As for other mods, I know Speaker Boost works ok (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.omegacentauri.SpeakerBoost). Though. That just boost audio volumes.

[Q] Speaker Distortion on CM11

Hello,
I have installed CM11 on wifes mini 2, but the sound is very distorted at higher volumes. I read that I should install viper4android, which I have done, but I cant seem to stop the distortion. Also, when I am tweaking settings in Viper, I don't hear any difference. This is in both Apollo and Google Play Music.
Message alerts are also piercing and distorted.
Any help much appreciated
i have just spoken to someone in the cyanogenmod irc and it turns out that the amp in the phone gets put into bypass mode when flashing a non stock rom. They said that there was nothing they can do about it and that, as far as they are aware, there is no fix.
Surprised that no one else has noticed anything with flashed roms.

People did notice it, usually referred to as 'Sound Crackling'. They are right in saying there is no fix ATM. It is one of the things that keeps me away from CM11 and CM12, besides the camera.

Sorry, the camera??? My wife has said that she is pleased with the camera as it is now very responsive. To be honest the sound is not a major issue, it is only really noticable when the volume is cranked up high. A little lower and it is still better than my nexus 5.

No loudspeaker sound

I was on CM12.1 earlier this morning. Suddenly I realised that my earpiece is not working while on calls. Neither did the screen turned black in effect of proximity sensor while on call. So I right away flashed stock to check whether its a hardware or software issue.
Digging more into the problem I could make out that its not the earpiece that is damaged but its the phone that thinks the headphone is still connected. I used an app called SoundAbout to check the media output. And it was confirmed that headphones is used for media output. Then I checked playing a song, it didnt through loudspeaker which also confirms that phone is detecting the headphone is plugged in while it is not.
Below I upload the screenshot of that app called SoundAbout which I used to find the problem. Sorry for such a long post.
Any help, suggestion, or any strange or extraordinary experience that could help?
Any help is appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!

Well if you are using SoundAbout why don't you then select where you want the sound to come out from? Isn't that the whole point of that app?
Also dunno about your proximity sensor issue but my phone suffers from similar ear piece issues as well and the issue crops up sporadically so I am still not sure sure its completely a hardware issue. I spent months looking for a solution but was finally about to hand it in for repairs when I the came upon the strangest solution somewhere. Here's what I do when this happens -
Plug my headphones in
Make a call
When you can hear anything in the headphones (call being connected, recipient's voice...heck just dial a non existent no. so you can hear the operator say it doesnt exist, any sound at all) , pull the headphones out and the sound comes out the earpiece.
I know it sounds silly but it works for me. It might not work the first time but after a couple of tries, it always does. Till date the only workaround I have found to this issue albeit a temporary one. Lasts me a few weeks before it happens again. Rinse and repeat.
One of these days I am gonna bite the bullet and hand it in for repairs. Remember reading someplace that this could be because some chip or something that supposed to switch sound depending on the task fails to do so though I am talking from memory here and this might be completely inaccurate.

i saw some users have the same problem actually ....try to plug and unplug it several times and see what happens
and clean your headphone input plug then reboot ....if any of that didn't help then repair it
None of the above method worked for me. I will send it for repair very soon. Till then I will use the app to manually route audio to loudspeaker.

Actually the issue is called stuck in headphone mode. If you google it there are a number of methods to solve it. One of those you could try out is http://forums.webosnation.com/webos...37-stuck-headset-mode-permanent-easy-fix.html
Go to a hardware store, pick up a tube of graphite powder for around $3.
1) Gently squeeze a couple puffs of graphite powder into headset jack.
2) Turn phone upside down to let excess fall out.
3) Grab a pair of headphones and insert/remove them several times.
4) Enjoy your new, permanently fixed phone.
Im planning to try this out. Even u can!!!!!!!!!
I will report soon

[Q] Problem with speaker and microphone.

I'm running the latest version of SlimLP on 5.1.1. The issue also happens on stock firmware too. Here are the problems:
1. The speaker doesn't work, except extremely rare circumstances when I hear a notification, usually from FB Messenger.
2. The microphone doesn't pick my voice up during calls, forcing me to use an integrated mic on headphones or loudspeaker.
3. The earspeaker doesn't seem to work.
4. When I record video or something, the sound is picked up, so obviously the microphone is still functional.
I've used the Xperia diagnostics app, and the microphone isn't deemed functional on that, the ear speaker doesn't work at all, but the loudspeaker works perfectly fine. I really don't know what to do. I don't think this is a hardware issue with any of them except the earspeaker. Anyone know fixes? I've tried pressing down on the areas but that doesn't seem to have an effect.

I've tried the app before, it didn't work, now it does! Thank God, I'm pretty damn happy about this. Bought the pro licence.
When I plug my headphones in however, sound keeps coming out the normal speaker, rather then the headphones. Hmm.

Nexus 6 speaker issue

Ok guys so I am having some terrible speaker issues on my nexus 6. Unlike the usual volume dropping at low battery, my nexus 6's speaker sounds like its at 20% even at full battery. My volume is 100% in sounds for everything (media, ringtone, alarms and notifications) but whenever I play anything via my speaker in play music, youtube, mx player etc, my phone will be fully charged but the sound from the speakers will be only 20% instead of the 100%.
Currently I am running the stock 6.0.1 unrooted. And yes I have already reflashed the stock rom twice already. I even rooted my phone again, and tried to manually boost the speakers via file and by editing the speaker file, but that also didn't help.
Any help would be appreciated guys.
You could try 'volume control plus' of Firestorm apps.
Hi. I also had the same problem. Usually this progresses to ultimate failure of the speaker. The top speaker is usually the victim. There are some discussions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/curious-speaker-volume-lowering-issue-t3136759 and here https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/84nSaI1Btxc but i suggest you get ready to do an RMA or do a hardware (speaker) replacement. I actually did the replacement and now things work well. All the best.

I mean to say that there is plenty of discussions about it and some people have tried many solutions; what worked for me, in the end, is a hardware replacement. I suggest if you have warranty to use it. If you don't have warranty then possible hardware replacement is eminent.
I have a similar issue (or maybe the same). When playing music and turning the volume all the way up, the speaker volume automatically decreases. It's as if the phone is protecting the speakers. There's no setting I can find to prevent this. When I either have external speakers or headphones plugged into the headphone jack, or when using bluetooth, the volume is fine at 100%. It's a very frustrating problem and I just haven't had the time to scour through these forums for possible solutions, so I'm glad this was a new post.

If this is what I think it is, it is not a hardware issue. Myself and others have posted in the past regarding this. Nexus 6 purchased in February brand new, started seeing this issue in March. Very similar. But for me volume would be stable at a certain level, normally below half, then when increasing the sound, seconds or minutes later it would decrease by itself and pressing the volume up would not do anything. Had this issue with a custom ROM and no audio mods as well as using V4A and Arise sound mod. Have yet to pin point what it is.

This is exactly what my Nexus 6 does. And, at this point I'm just glad it's not just my device. I bought the device used on Swappa and tested pretty much everything but didn't really notice this issue until a month or so later. I was wondering if I got a partially defective device. But it sounds like I didn't.
I have the same problem as most of your descriptions . it occurs at all battery levels. Speakers sounds fine no crack or pop. Top & Bottom for about 2 or 3 seconds, volume auto changes to about 40% of max. the power amplifier(s) may be the culpert here?
I been reading all over the net , Xda, Android police, Android Central & other's with N6 & some Sammy's having the same problems.
Hard to believe that there isn't a definitive answer? & to think,we were lucky enough to buy the N6? :crying:

speaker got noticeably a lower sound

Same here. And it is weird as the speaker still has good quality which means that it is not affected.
mine as well i just noticed it after latest update
Mine is not a new thing I've noticed.
It's not permanently low. It's like I'll watch a video and the usb c port speaker is decently loud with a full sound and then about 5 mins in it fades to quiet and tinny. The front firing speaker seems unaffected.
Playing the video from the beginning doesn't change anything so it doesn't seem app specific. This has happened since day 1 but I don't listed to much out loud these days

This change in volume is caused by Dolby Atmos. Whenever this happens when you're watching a video, you should try going to the dolby atmos settings, switching to a different mode (and then back if you want), and play the video again. The software automatically EQ's based on what you're listening to in a really dumb way, and the method I just described will let it forget and reset for a little while. I'm currently looking at a method to remove Dolby Atmos entirely in favor for an actually decent EQ.
Edit after 45 minutes:
I've removed Dolby! I crossed my fingers and removed it via adb.
The command I used in ADB was:
Code:
pm uninstall -k --user 0 'com.huawei.imedia.dolby'
I had a little switch in my notification drawer which immediately was gone. In the settings there is no sight of the software either, and my phone speaker finally sounds fine! I hope this will work for you all too.

Yep, it works. The only thing that alters the audio now is if you plug your phone in, but that's not too bothering for me personally. You could try disabling it too, once you're shelled into your phone just type "pm help" and there should be a long list of commands you can apply.
Thanks for the tip! I bought a second hand cellphone, and I thought it was defective. I used the debloat software for huawei phones, and now it sounds how it should be. I just had to install an eq from playstore to use when using earbuds, because I felt it was sounding different. Now everything´s fine!!!
Seems it has re-activated itself on my phone, switch is still gone. I'll do a reset this afternoon to check the sound difference, but this fix seemed to be temporary for some reason...

Yeah, read about it on a debloat post on P30 Pro forum, system apps aren't full removed through adb, it just disables for the current user (wich is user0/ default main user), without it, the uninstall command won't work, to remove completely it needs root acess, wich unfortunately we can't get, but I'm not sure if they are allowed to reinstall itself, unless a factory reset is made.
Edit: Guess what, uninstalling Dolby Atmos seems to dont fix the issue at all, but Dolby is still gone, maybe it has something to do with the system keeping some of its data in the storage, or this issue has something to do with some other system service. I'm installing dolby again and try to look for something else, seems to have nothing to do with dolby, since when using dolby with earphones it don't do that.

This change in volume is caused by Dolby Atmos. Whenever this happens when you're watching a video, you should try going to the dolby atmos settings, switching to a different mode

Yes this seems to have worked as a quick fix, thank you!
Will attempt to disable it completely later
