Favorite feature of Note 7 - T-Mobile Note 7 Questions & Answers

Mine is being shipped however what is everyone's favorite feature or design on this new beast?

This is my first Note so everything to me is great. The S pen I love and the screen. The only complaint is I wish the screen was a little wider. I know the measure from the end of the curve. If they would have made it 6in with the curve would have been perfect.

Old phones in my sign.
But the best part of the notes have always been the spen to me.
I had the note edge and it was lovely then the s7 edge was great but i missed my spen.
but im sure your fine alot your like when you get the phone.

Iris Scanner.... That's really cool.
Using the S-pen to take quick notes without having to turn on the phone, That comes in handy.
Being Waterproof saves alot of worry.... I'm in Fl, always around water.

Iris Scanner hands down.
My wife says I've a line for an eye and it can detect my eyes. LOL
Then tried to have my co-workers and friends tried to unlock it and they couldn't :good:
During registration It did ask me to open my eyes Wide, as the first attempt didn't work with normal eyes position.
The new fingerprint sensor is waaaaay better, this one actually works, previous models it simply didn't work right, so I always ended up disabling it.
This one, you simply touch it, and it opens up the home screen as it supposed to do.
Quick frankly the Finger Print works even better than the Iris scan, as it's more natural.
Whenever I turn on the phone, it's always through the Home button.

Coming from the S7 Edge so a lot of features I already had. I do love having my S-Pen back and the Iris Scanner is really cool. However my favorite features is the improved UI of the camera. The camera on the S7 Edge was the best I had used on a mobile devices, but the new interface makes it so much easier to use the extra features. Direct feed to YouTube Broadcasting is great to have.

Maybe not exclusive to Note 7. but the camera's focus speed and picture quality is really great, makes DSLR almost redundant. Of course S-pen is a signature of all Note series and main reason I won't buy another make, but improvements to s-pen are more incremental over previous models, than drastic. Also screen is probably one of the best, if not the best on the market ATM. And water proofing is one thing less to worry about.

Yes, indeed. I live in Florida and Im also a swimmer. Even though Im not planning to submerge this pricey beast, Im always around or in a pool, so a huge extra level of protection

This is my first note device and can easily say it's the S-pen that has me hooked. I've been constantly using it but if I'm not using it im most likely clicking the top of the pen non stop. A close second has to be the iris scanner.

I have had every single not and Galaxy device to date. I am really excited about the water proof finally. A note that has it!

did you setup the fingerprint correctly?
I know the note edge (n4) you had to swipe down which just suck.
The s7 edge was a press one. It work really good.
I always setup my fingerprints by turning my finger 270degs. making sure it gets my finger from all sides. I even go a little above the pad.
Work great for the s7 edge. but yes the note 7 FP is much faster and success rate is higher

[Discussion] Your favorite GS5 features?

Fingerprint Scanner- Use it for Paypal, unlock device (plus enter privacy mode), and use it to unlock device plus open an app with certain fingerprints that you designate.
Toolbox- Samsung's take on Paranoid Android's "Halo" feature.
Camera- TONS of stuff, new/cleaner layout of all the modes, plus new modes seem really cool. Plus 16 MP is awesome.
Micro SD/Removable Battery- One of the VERY FEW phones that still has both of these, always a plus!
Menu Button- The removal of the menu button and putting the recent app switcher is so much better.
Water Resistant- IP67, and notice how I didn't say WATERPROOF, BECAUSE IT'S NOT!!
Download Booster- WiFi + 4G LTE= DAMN
Better Battery Life- Bigger battery, plus the ultra power saving mode! Already average 25hrs with 3hrs of on screen time with my S4 (stock battery), so I can't wait to see what the S5 can do!
What's your favorite features of the S5?
ISOCELL camera
This: http://www.sammobile.com/2014/02/28...-techniques-that-increase-battery-life-by-25/
Not exactly a feature, but the blue version looks great!
IP67
Pretty much everything lol.

i literally just read that article 15min before seeing your comment, yeah that's pretty cool!
Fav.
1. Download-Booster
2. IP67
1. Still Can make calls.
2. Still support SMS.
...the tiny italic text...
Micro SD/Removable Battery without question, for me; this combination is why I can't really consider any other manufacturer, although there may be some others with these features that I'm unaware of. USB3 is a nice upgrade over the S4, as is the upgraded CPU. Waterproofing is also pretty sweet, although I've never had any water issues with any phone, and I never use a case because I can't stand the extra bulk. The extra height, width, thickness, weight, and fatter bezels for only a tenth of an inch larger screen, not so much...won't be upgrading to the S5 from my S4, although the S5 is probably overall the better device. Perhaps if there is a "Prime" version yet to come, I'll be waiting for the Note 4.
Good features...try to add more exclusive features

I liked the better battery life, water resistant(IP67) and the download booster.
For the fingerprint scanner, I think it does not fit for Android, especially for secure payments. Android simply cannot keep fingerprint data secure...
1. Ultra power saving mode.
2. Good camera.
3. Water resistant
Sent from Note 3 (The beauty & beast)
Only brand, which still supports removable battry + sd card slot
other than that:
1. Ultra Power Saving mode I really think this could come in handy a lot of times but I think the S4 will get a feature like this too
2. faster auto focus on the camera
I really don't care about the finger print, heart rate that just seems gimmicky and less useful than say air gestures or smart pause. The download boaster is a double edged sword while it's nice to have more speed it will also eat up your monthly limit like nothing so I'd rather download at a lower rate but more.
Surely the best feature for me is the super fast Auto Focus. Damn, it's really fast!
I also like the fact that the display can go down to 2 Cd/m^2. Ultra Power saving mode seems useful too.
Other than that is the Exynos 5422 in the non-LTE model seems pretty cool with HMP possibly out of the box. Looking forward to checking out its performance.
Also, the new Touchwiz looks pretty neat.
Likes: Waterproof, SD card, camera and removable battery which is a must!
Dislikes: Fingerprint sensor, dont need it and hated the iphones for having that, i consider it a privacy issue here, your fingerprints should not be taken via your phone, it would be awesome if Samsung would make it optional for this "feature"

It is optional. Like with the iPhone, no one is forcing you to input your fingerprint and use the feature. If you don't want to use it, simply don't use it. It's not required by any means.
Download Booster, Camera, Toolbox, Water Resistant, Fingerprint Scanner.. I like em' all. Folks complain about it not meeting their expectations cause they wanted it to fly to the moon. Wifi + LTE?! Wtf! Every device will copy that for sure!

I like how those bezel-less phones arriving will all be put in bumpers with a laaarge bezel since they will be very fragile ... good thinking there :good:
According to the presentation in Barcelona the S5 is marketed as an "active" smartphone for "people on the go", not a "unboxing on youtube and put on a pedestal" type of phone

I've lurked in there for quite a while... I ordered a S7 when it first hit but cancelled it before I ever got it due to locked bootloader....
I told myself regardless of locked bootloader I want the N7 so I'm making the jump...
The thing I like the least is that I can't find a tempered glass screen protector for my s7 edge so I am disappointed that a non edge version isn't being released.

Honestly though I don't think the work very well. My cousin has the s6 edge, and with the tempered glass and a case (uag I believe) on it caused all sorts of touch recognition issues. Could be dependent on case and all that, but still seems like a lot of trouble.
Anybody see that the Chinese version might have 6gb of memory, and 128gb of storage. http://www.gsmarena.com/galaxy_note7_to_have_a_6gb_128gb_version_after_all-news-19786.php

I wasn't really very impressed with what I saw online, but when I went to Best Buy to check it out I was sold. You really have to see it in person to appreciate it. The curved edge display is much less intrusive than previous edge models, I felt like I could hold onto it without worrying about dropping it (since I won't be using a case). It didn't feel laggy at all. The phone feels nice in my hand. I liked the silver a lot, but even just the reflection of the store lights was very distracting. The S-pen worked really well. I know a lot of people don't really use the S-pen but I use it all the time on my Note 4. I like the new S-pen features, the magnify and the translate. I'm glad they brought back the SD card, that's the reason I didn't buy the Note 5. I like the IP68 rating, that's a feature I really liked on my S5.
I don't like the absence of a removable battery, or that the phone is only available with the edge display. I'll never use the iris scanner so I feel like that's wasted space and resources. Would be nice if they kept the IR blaster, but honestly I've never used it on my Note 4. Black is pretty plain looking from the back, looks like cheap plastic to me, so we've got the fragile nature of "premium materials" with the look of cheap plastic.

I'm on a Note 4. The Note 7 and S7 are pretty durn similar, you won't be gaining much besides a little screen real estate, water resistance, and the S-pen.

I have a s7 edge and I'm seriously considering it. Biggest reason is, and it may sound stupid, is because for 1 I want a different color than my silver. And for the bigger reason I think it has a wider side rail which should be easier to hold and reduce the accidental touches. And lastly because I can .

What I like is that Note 7 finallly featurs water resistant and curved screen, which makes the phone more pratical and beautiful. What I dislike is that it doesn't have a bigger battery than S7 as Note 7 get bigger screen. What I care is the Note 7 whether supports Quick Charge 3.0?

still worth buying?

My s7 edge is pretty busted up and I need a new phone ASAP. Is the note 8 still worth buying? I'm between it and the s8 plus. I hear the s9 is coming out in a few months or something. Are there any known defects I should be aware of so I can inspect the phone when I get it? I'm weary because I had the note 7 and that a fiasco that was.
I LOVE my Note 8. I've had it for about a month, and had an S8+ before that. The S8+ and the N8 are very similar, actually. The N8 has a 0.1 inch bigger screen with less rounded corners. It is bigger, thicker, and heavier than the S8+, but also feels more solid and premium.
The N8 has 2GB more RAM and a dual lens camera with 2x optical zoom. But the S8+ has a bigger battery.
The real differentiating factor is the S-Pen. Some people use it everyday, others never take it out of the phone. I personally use it more and more.
The S8+ is cheaper for basically the same experience, and I was very happy with it, but I found a great deal on a used N8, so I bought it. I think it's worth every penny over the S8+. But I wound up keeping my S8+ as a backup phone anyway, so now I have both. Either one is a worthy upgrade to the S7 Edge.
As far as defects to look out for? There were issues with the S8+ screen having a red or pink tint. The bigger issue was the one that had UNEVEN tinting. So check out the screen and make sure it's true white and even all across. I don't believe the N8 had that same problem, or at least it was not as prevalent.
Now, do you get the S8+, the N8, or wait for the S9+? Here are my thoughts:
True the S9+ is a couple months away, so you could wait for it. But then when it releases, the Note 9 will be just a couple months away, so you could wait for it. But then what about the S10? Etc... There is ALWAYS something better right around the corner.
Honestly, the S9+ looks like an incremental upgrade. Dual camera and 6GB of RAM. Both of which are available in the Note 8 now. It will have a slightly faster SD845 processor and faster Iris scanner (reportedly), but not sure if that's worth the wait.
My opinion: get the Note 8. It already has the extra RAM and the dual lens camera. If you shop around, you can get a used one fairly cheap now, almost as cheap as an S8+. Cheaper in my case, actually.
Get the Note 8. Big boys phone (or girl)
S8/S9 etc are brilliant and all... But they just seem... Oh I don`t know. Boring is the wrong word.
"Samey" is maybe the right word.
There may be marginally higher specced phones round the corner, but when isn`t there?
Get the note. It seems more "grown up". And it will be worth more come upgrade time than a s8+
I am really enjoying mine. And I`m strictly a Moto fan (at least what moto was before Lenumptys bought the brand)
Thanks for the responses guys.... I actually just watched some s9 videos and yeah there's nothing about it that blows the note 8 out of the water. I don't really care about the finger print sensor because I plan on using the iris scanner mostly. Are there any good screen protector that work with the note 8 curves screen though? I want to get a good one on it as soon as I can.

I've been using these film ones from Amazon on 2 Note 8's and a S8 + and we are happy. I'm not a fan of the glass ones because of the dot matrix effect and what not.
I hope the note 9 has 8 GB Ram, if not will wait for Note 10.

For film, I've used Spigen protectors and they were great. For glass, one of the more popular full adhesive screen protectors is Whitestone Dome. Zagg also has a new one that looks promising. No doubt Note 8
If you look at my older posts..I had a Galaxy S7 Edge too. It's motherboard got fried on it's own lol. So I had to buy a new phone. I was confused with N8 and S8 too..and in my country the price difference was just around 80-90 dollars so I went with Note8. Also I am using it completely stock. No Screen Protection and only the transparent case that I got inside the box. I have learned one thing about phones in today's world...Whenever you buy a new phone, just unsubscribe from all the tech channels and newsletters as they keep pushing about the latest and greatest phones, which makes you feel that your phone is somehow outdated now. So just buy a phone and forget that newer phones exists. That way your phone will be brand new for more than 5 years.

Black for me but it's a personal preference. If you get a case or something maybe consider that color too so they match. Really up to you though
I bought a exynos duos. It has a premium phone but
- aod drains a lot of battery so I'm pretty angry because it has not sense turn it off to get better sot.
- edge lighting doesn't work too... so bad because if you can't use aod at least edge lighting...
- I really don't know how to get 6 hour or more sot... tried everything (black theme, turn everything off, medium psm, worst resolution, etc).
- the virtual keys burns the pixel of the screen so u have to set auto hide
- Samsung support [email protected]#^ks
- most snote features disabled
Btoh:
- not matter if you use performance mode every day... it uses the same amount of battery life but slightly improve sound and screen visualisation; 2% more of battery usage.
- the phone is a monster: excellent camera, ultra fast...
- spen really nice
If note's problems don't get fixed with Oreo update consider think if really want to buy 1000 dollar smartphone and can't use it main and unique features. Also if you think to use mpsm to get more battery b life it will be like to buy a car and walk to work because use to much gasoline...

Edge lighting issue is not just mine... take a look on Google and you will see that is a extended problem throw users. Edge lighting simply don't works on turned off screen or on.
About battery drain... just a few apps installed and I tested with and without aod stuff. Without it 6 hours at max: with it 4 max (6% usage). Also with aod deep sleep has a few % running.

This finger print thing

Actually not very good is it, not because it doesn't actually work very well unless you are stationary sat at a desk, but walking along with the old one your finger found the pad on the back really easily.
Now it's an utter faff, just so they can show off technology
Great for the ads but for real life the pad on the back much better

I find it works fine, had no issues using it.
I actually found the pad on the back of my s8 plus to be more of a pain to use so never bothered with it.
S8 yes, I agree
S9 was easy in real life

I had bad experience with the sensor too at the beginning but I did the following things and now it is much better... Actually I was hasty to set it up the first time and that was the problem..
1) use the same finger three or four times
2) ignore the indication at the screen about which part of your finger is not scanned and just keep trying
3) the most important is to scan your finger naturally like in normal conditions and not like you try to set up the fingerprint..
4) play with different areas and angles of your finger until the setting up is complete
5) after you set-up the fingerprints there is an option to test them.. Do that multiple times and see which of the three or four is not used. In a good set up all of them should show as used. Remove and register again those that do not appear at all or frequently
Cheers, one of my fingers won't work at all

That sounds like a personal problem. ?
I took the screen protector off that came with the phone. That alone improved the detection. From my experience with fps's it is best to constantly change the angle of the finger until the scan is complete. Also try holding your finger on the fps 1 second longer than normal.

I'm returning it

I'm taking my S10 back. I find texting difficult, my palm keeps touching the side and causes me to hit the return or a different key. I feel like I need to hold the phone with my other hand and very carefully tap each letter with a precise touch. I also find when viewing YouTube videos the camera hole is just in my view, so I can't view videos in full screen. The screen is nice though, colors are great. I don't use the fingerprint reader.
Have you tried switching accidental touch on in settings?
When watching vids I rotate the phone so the hole punch is in the bottom right corner
Yes, tried that.
Get the S10e. It'll alleviate some of your issues.

Install from Galaxy store, samsungs, edgeTouch.
It helps unwanted touches from the curved screen.
Helps a lot!!
Edgetouch may help accidental button push but not a 1/4" hole starring at me when watching videos. If only they center dropped the camera ilike the OnePlus 6t instead of placing it in the corner.
The main reason I have a strong dislike for the edge versions.
Thank you all for your feedbacks. I might exchange it for the 10e or swap to the OnePlus.

Try the 10e. It's the first phone that does pretty much what I've wanted a phone to do for a long time.
Bixby routines and bx actions make this phone amazing.
Can't wait to get a 1tb card when they release.

I sent back the S10 because of that miserable finger print lock and bought 10e instead. No complaints so far and I don't think that 10e compromises a lot when compared to S10/+. I have the 8/256 ver. which costs $300 less then I've had paid for the 8/512GB S10. Still, I have some concerns about Samsung abilities to maintain a steady stream of updates to make their phones a top performers(as the price tag suggests) vs the competition. I'm waiting right now for the “super night vision” as they call it, and I just compared some picks taken w/ OP6 wondering if Samsung can make it better as they should.
I know it's a new line, some bugs are to be expected, etc, etc, but the time is running, each month new phones are being fed into the busy, commercial pipeline.
I'm happy with my 10e for now and I'm hoping that Samsung won't get overwhelmed too much with spinning more and more phones out like the new A's and so on, and invest as much care to just released S10.
No, I wont be switching to OP7, maybe later in the year if the 7T gets ufs 3.0, I'll wait and see how will Samsung handle all the S10 needed improvements. The 10e is a great phone(*), I'm having a lot of fun w/ it.
(*) - conditionally or, the time will show.
These edge to edge screen is not good trend and is not practical solution..little bit bezel on sides are good to make phone easy to hold and provide strong grip and less slippery ..also it save u accidentally touching the screen..its funny how all android manufacturers blindly followed iphone x
