note 5 troubleshooting... - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys ,
recently i had bought note5 (sm-n920f), to my dismay it was a rooted phone.i checked its ime (359523062717457) on the net and founded that it was samsung s6 after that i checked by app phoneinfo and founded that it was sm-n920v
now the real problem is that i want to basically update it to marshmallow...?? is it possible ...??
as there are certain feature that are not working as they should...
*private mode is not working
*having difficulty with network signals
*it always shows 4g no matter if i connect to 3g or 2g
*cant print (have installed plugin)
so basically can i update it to m.m...??
will it solve the problems....???
how can i update it....??

Normally have difficulty to upgrade because of the mix variant. Just afraid you will softbrick it. But it's your call.

It's showing that and not booting?. If you flash correct file for your android version & variant should be no problem.

That's the problem. Your csc seems to be verizon but the baseband belongs to sprint. Have you tried smart switch?. Assuming your phone isn't refurbished(since you said the imei belongs to s6), ss will decide which is suitable for your phone.

Very risky and high chance to brick. As you said it's a combination of 920f, s6 and 920v. I have no idea.

Even more did you see at all any network by using the search functionality in that case?

But at your home you have again a network connection?
From where are you exactly?
Might it be an issue with base bands? 850/1900Mhz?
If yes, have a look at this thread:

No network or Sim registered after flashing juwe's v.5
Hey! Hope you are all well. I'm quite desperate to find out what may be the problem I describe below could be.
I just flashed Juwe's Rom and all went well untill my phone had finished booting up. My Galaxy S i9000 doesn't register it has the sim inside. I've tried a number of times to re-insert it with the same result. I have the signal bar in my notifications with a little x above.
Any help would be very much appreciated as I desperately need this phone for business.
Thank you in advance
hey once the same happened to me when i installed sh 3.6.1, after i install my sim wouldnt register, going back to the previous version my sim worked...so i changed my kernel to fugu and flashed 3.6.1 again everything worked fine... try this might help u !!

anyone recieved this update? P7310xxkj4 honeycomb 3.2

This P7510 wifi issue is only if you update OTA. I haven't heard of any problems when updating by flashing the complete firmware.

Does anyone here have a UK 3G tab? Or any other European 3G tab?
Yes mate . I have an Orange 3G Tab 8.9 with me right now, why ?
I just updated my french Orange 3G Tab (P7300) via Kies to KJ4, so far 3G and Wifi seem to work just fine.
bigbrovar, that was me who commented on your blog
still working fine, no WIFI issues. Seems a bit more responsive than with 3.1, less UI lag, faster rotate.
masterludo and fishton, i sent you both a PM.
can someone post a link where can i download for the p7300? thanks
@poisike you got your reply
If anyone else is interested, I can post my CSCVersion, SalesCode and Baseband.
Yep please do it
Alright, here you go:
CSCVersion: P7300FTMKJ5
SalesCode: FTM
Baseband: P7300BVKJ2
How does 3.2 compare to the overcome rom running the new kernel? Now that the lockscreen lag is fixed this thing rocks so unless I'm getting something big by upgrading I'd rather stick with what I have.

Fount it and downloading... but i'm on 3,5G connection at the moment, so it will take some time.
Thanks masterludo! Does your tab have a SIM lock? Any operator apps preinstalled?
Yes if the tab is from Orange, it s simlocked and has Orange **** by default
Yes it is simlocked, actually it was simlocked I could remove the simlock using a tutorial from the 10.1 forums
Actually with this update it has even more crapware installed as on 3.1. I uninstalled at least 6 apps (mostly games) and still looking what I can remove.
I can't tell anything about performance since I didn't install the Overcome ROM yet. Landscape mode is still laggy...

SIM lock is not in firmware, correct?
nope, the "unlock" remained after the update, it's in the /efs folder
Is this update also available for P7300? or is this just for galaxytab wifi edition. also any link where one can download the odin flashable version of this update?
This is also for the P7300, I flashed it earlier (see my previous posts).

Worked! Tried it on another computer with the latest USB drivers from here and Odin 3.04. Probably my problem was in USB drivers that Kies installs. Thanks!
I have an International S4 Active, which apparently come from France with MF5 on it. I can flash the UK (BT) MF5, and that works. Any MF7 based rom I try to flash ends up getting 95% of the way through and failing with "Ext4 error". I have tried Australia and UK MF7 images without success. Has anyone else successfully upgraded an MF5 device to MF7? I can see that it should work for a UK(BT) device according to this url:
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/4...ive-android422-i9295xxuamf7-jellybean-ota.htm
Maybe I should've bought a UK device, but when I bought it off eBay it said it was an "S4 Active International" .. *shrugs* I was surprised to see it boot up for the first time in French.

I installed it on my Note 4 and I can say that it feels more stable now.
No more "contacts has stopped", camera preview (right after taking a picture) is fast, no more waiting.
Do not disturb and the old "sound profiles" are back.
Overall the device seems more responsive.
Installed over BOB4 without data wipe, only Cache wipe from recovery.
Confirmed by SamsungNL: CSC is specific for the Samsung Experience Store!

It seems as the release is for Netherlands (Samsung Experience Stores)..
If i flash over stock rooted lollipop i maintain root?
Looks amazing, bloat free.
First of all, we say that the software is now marked N910CXXU1BOC3 and continue to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. Changes are few, but the most important is the return of the "Mute", which somehow disappeared in Lollipop. I also noticed that the interrupt function is now called Do Not Disturb and is used to mute all calls, notifications and alarms outside the defined exceptions. Certainly improved liquidity and contacts startup speed, switch between the dialer and contacts or gallery, which now opens much faster. I can also confirm that other users who also noticed that finally Lollipopie run applications that previously throwing error. I also have the impression that the light beam has undergone a facelift notifications. You do not have this feeling that changed the brightness icon on the toolbar? The battery is difficult to say anything, but I sincerely hope that there is no longer a delay after the call is answered, and finally the GPS to work properly (does not sever the connection).
After this update finally the lag when pressing the multitasking button is gone!
Its a tar that gotta be flashed via odin. Im running echoe rom v3. Will I loose my root and stuff if I flash this?

Guys, I know this is maybe little off topic. But I think I can get your opinion on this. I have a problem while calling, I have a little call volume so I have to set call volume at highest volume, but when I do that, my speaker does absolutely terrible cracking sounds and during call I can literally hear that annoying buzzing noise like the wind or how to describe that...it is really annoying while talking to someone. It does that even while ringing and waiting for someone to pick up. It is not my provider fault I tried in another phone (and the signal is full) I am on stock 4.4.4, network is set on Auto (3g/2g) because when it was on auto (4g/3g/2g) my battery went down in minutes....do you have any idea? Thank you...
I consider this firmware the fastest on any Samsung phone. I am more than happy that a Samsung can be fluid like a HTC.

Should be a bit faster, but it is hosted out of Europe, so speeds will be subject to your ISP and their international data links.
I think the update was only a couple megs
Thanks OP for posting this. Yes this is the same firmware as the OTA update is when you first get your phone. Nice to have this firmware in case of any issues. The download takes 2 to 3 hours so be patient
Hola
Can someone please confirm that given that Knox is still tripped even after flashing stock firmware, what this actually means for warranty /returns?
I understand that Samsung Pay is unavailable and similar security features are not going to work with Knox being off when we root, but I do worry if Samsung will deny any support even if we go back to stock firmware.
"So what you want me to do 'bout that?"

As far as I understand from reading around on these forums, Tmobile itself doesnt care for if knox is tripped.. Samsung on the other hand is likely to not have any support for a "modified" device.
Now as far as warranty for Tmo, a nice "accidental drop" that shatters something will be under your warranty if you have insurance on your phone through Tmo.
T-Mobile or Assurant couldn't care less about a tripped Knox flag. However, it's always a wise idea to return exchange/ jump upgrade a phone with its stock recovery. Often times, they'll factory reset the phone in front of you and you really don't want TWRP popping up doing the wipe.
I have heard of people returning galaxy phones running CM, but again that is not the wisest of ideas.
How edge firmware gets released soon
