Stylus stuck in phone - T-Mobile Note 7 Questions & Answers

Wondering if this has happened to anyone else. I went to use the stylus today, but instead of ejecting when you slightly push it in. It jammed within the phone, and now I can't eject it. It is slightly depressed in.
Also last night I woke up to the phone vibrating. It was just plugged in and laying on my night stand. It was having some phantom touches where it wanted me to use iris scan, or a finger print to unlock it. So I unlocked it and went back to bed. It did the whole vibrating thing again 3 more times. Before I finally just unplugged it and threw it on the bed so I wouldn't here that rattling noise if it went off again.
I know I'm still waiting for my replacement from T-mobile for the rattling earpiece. I just can't believe this phone has so many issues. I never dropped it or damaged it.

There is a little o-ring in the entrance to the s-pen hole (for waterproofing). If the pen is in the phone and you click it in real slow, it can get hung up on that rubber ring. You now have to carefully pick the end out with a needle or tack or something to free it. In the future try to eject the end as fast as possible.

There's a guy that had that problem. It's the SPen. You can try another from a friend and it will work fine and dandy. Seems like the pen may be crooked enough to cause problems, and the push button gets stuck.

Thanks, there is another thread on this same topic in the international forum it seems the issue is a bad stylus. So even if I get it out the stylus will get stuck again.

This also is happening to me, any fixes yet?

Good God, really? This is not possible unless you jam the damn thing in? I tried myself it did not go in? Why is everyone complaining about everything on this device? Flawless experience here?

Dude, we aren't talking about putting the spen in backwards. We are talking about putting it in normally. It's like the spen click top part isn't re-clicking back out.

Same here, not had one issue with this phone.

I went to t-mobile they had a staple which helps get the stylus out without scratching anything. They said they couldn't give me a replacement because they don't have the phone. Called samsung, they sent me a shipping label to mail out, thankfully the place is in my state only 2 hours away. So I'll ship it to them, they said 1-2 days for shipping, 5-7 days for processing, 1-2 days for shipping back. Kinda pissed they wont send me one first then I send them the broken one in the same box. I did ask him that and the guy said nope.

You could just ask them for another s pen. I think it's the clicker that is stuck in the pen and not the pen that is stuck in the phone

You are correct with the second sentence, they wont send me one first... I tried and tried.

I can also confirm it's an issue with the stylus. I've never forced or jammed my S-Pen into it's slot. What happens is the clicker gets stuck in the down position.

For you all to peruse. Your not alone
http://m.gsmarena.com/the_new_spen_can_get_stuck_in_the_galaxy_note7-news-20241.php

So how is this hard to get out? I just checked on my Note 7, and without pushing the clicker in for it to pop out, I could slide my fingernail into the top and pull it gently out, and my finger nails aren't that long.
Edit: Ah, just watched the first video on that link; seems it's an issue with the S-Pen itself, when it's 'clicker' doesn't work at all, the end of it goes in further than it physically can with the spring/click/whatever mechanism working correctly.

Mine got stuck day one but I was able to get it out with a plastic screen protector. I just ignored it after I got it out. Now it gets stuck every single time :/.

Update: I was going to return the spen to samsung but after keeping it out of the phone for 1-2 hours and clicking it a bunch of times, it seems to not get stuck anymore.
My theory is that it has to do with something like a rubber gasket maybe for the waterproofing of the spen?

3rd times a charm? I hope.

Bought a N7 two days ago, got home and charged it and it had a defect, not from the factory, but from Walmart. The screen had some damage towards the top like too much pressure had been applied there. It didn't go away and I exchanged it for another. I took that one home and started it up and the LCD panel on it was shattered, not the outer glass. They both had slight screen lift but that didn't bother me as I believe it could be fixed. Also they were both C70's. It's just got me discouraged and pretty mad. Both boxes were damaged somewhat so that's why I think its Walmarts fault. But anyway I'll replace this one this week sometime and report back.

Yeahhhh that definitely sounds like a Wal-Mart issue there... especially considering the damaged boxes and all. Do you have pictures of the boxes? I'm curious as to what condition they were in that they A) thought it was okay to put on the shelf and B) thought they were decent enough to not even warrant opening the box to make sure... unless it's somehow against Wal-Mart policy to open items to verify they're okay? (wouldn't be entirely surprising now that I think about it)
There's not much room to play for the Nexus 7 inside the factory box. They're pretty clean cut with minimal wasted/open space. Any semi decent hits it would take, especially on the top portion, might be substantially detrimental to the tablet itself.
I did 5 exchanges at various Walmarts and they were all C8O's. I was stubborn and looking for one without and screen separation. I gave up on that mission and realize they all gonna be coming with slight screen separation. But I did manage to find 2 with minor issues. I would avoid the C7O build. Only reason being its a older build.

Good luck with #3! It took me 7! (C6,C7,C7,C7,C8,C8, and now C8..you can see how messed up my account page is now LOL) to get one I was happy with, defect free. I've seen it all now, defective batteries, dead pixels, dust under the screen, screen separation on the left. All of mine have been from Gamestop.
Also you might want to give this thread a look, if you ever need to use VIP for an RMA it's actually an "O" as shook wrote it, not a zero :good:

Thanks. I should have a new one Friday. Wow, that really sucks.
Just an update.
Returned my N7 and got another. It's a C80, so far no problems other than minor screen lift. Will update after a few days.

It's a sad day today for my Nexus...

So today I am just chillin, and pull out my phone from my pocket and I didnt really grip it hard and just falls from my hands... I swear when it dropped it felt that it was falling in slow motion. And out of all the places it could fall, it falls at an angle and then on the screen.
I picked it up and I see the top of the screen has a crack from one side to the other, and another crack on the bottom right corner. And it gets worse, when I turned on the screen the touch doesnt work at all so basically my whole screen is messed up.
Found a website that sells the screen already glued with the frame and a battery so all its missing is the motherboard and internal stuff.
Buttt its $170 so yea gotta wait till next week when I get payed.
I would post pics but dont have 10 posts so yea, it really sucks I've had the phone for about a month and I always protected it. :crying::crying::crying:
Sorry to hear that but I've read that LG will repair your screen for less than that.

hmmm..... But isn't LG already being super slow to produce the device itself, would probably take them a month to do it and I kinda need a phone
Asking them to give you a price and time estimate cannot hurt. Additionally, the limiting step of production is more likely everything that goes on that motherboard, not the touch screen.

Damn man, that sucks. The first time my Nexus was dropped was from my friend being careless... So because of that, I made it so that no one except me can use my phone. I hated my friend for doing that because it was the first hour I had my phone...
But for the screen fix, try to see if you can find a lower price. Doesn't hurt to continue searching the web.

LG will not give you a quote. They will only say, "We cannot give you a quote without you sending it in. Please send the phone in to us, with you being responsible for shipping, and then once we've had a chance to look at it, we will let you know the cost of the repair."
Even after I pushed saying how about the front lcd and digitizer, they still wouldn't give me an estimate.
Sam Thing happened to me.. just 1 crack but half the touchscreen doesnt work.. i've seen plenty of ppl with cracked iphones whose touch still works.. called lg and they told me the same thing. Don't know if its worth wasting money on shipping just to find out they charge more for repair.. kind of a risk. Did you ever end up getting it fixed?
So was it worth not having a case?

That really sucks... Something about these new phones, in particular the ones with the new touch sensor in glass or whatever they call it. The touch response is gone on a crack. I recall my first Droid had two cracks across the entire face and it worked flawlessly... I think I'd rather have that 1mm gap in the display/glass then have to replace it due to a simple crack.

knock on wood, i hope i don't drop it, i have butter fingers too, i did let it slip once but i had the usb cable in it still and it only fell like 2 foot on soft wooden floor, if you drop it from your pocket( 4ft >) and it hits hard floor like cement, its a goner i think!

[Help] Drop phone in Redbull and Vodka

Well like the title says I got drunk and had the phone on my lap with no case and the cup was in between my legs and I leaned over like a drunk ass forgetting my phone was in my lap then splash.
I know that there are other treads in other forums about this but since our phones are inseparable so we cant remove the battery I have no idea what to do! i put it in rice for like 3 days in my car and now what i plug it in my charging light just blinks and it never turns on. I know that light means there is a charging error but does anyone know if there is any way to fix it without having to take it apart? or sending it back to sprint?
I know its not the water that ruins the silicon but that its the electricity from the battery so im wondering if I fried my charging port or even worse my board?
thanks in advance.

Nope, if it won't charge it's dead. The phone is basically impossible to take apart without damaging the shell, most insurance companies won't cover water damage, and even if the rice trick had worked it never works for all that long.
Maybe that is a sign you should drink less?
I did the same thing (with beer) at a pens game and my ol HTC hero but rice saved it. That's actually how I discovered xda and rooting. But I digress... Sorry, sounds like it's toast.

I feel your pain. I was at a party as well when my drunk ass left my phone on a table and beer spilled beer all over my one. My phone immediately started bootlooping. The sad part was that I was so drunk, I hadn't even realized what had happened. I thought what the hell is wrong with my phone? Oh well, I'll fix it tomorrow when I'm sober. The whole night the thing kept bootlooping until it was dead. The next morning I wake up, hung over mind you, I pick up my phone and look at my tpu case and realize there is some liquid in my case. That's when i realized the reality of what occurred last night. Beer had spilled all over my phone!! I let it dry for over a week but I am certain that I have a bootlooping paper weight in my hands now. When i plug it in to charge, it turns on, goes to the htc screen and then shuts back down again. The same bootlooping pattern that occurred the night of the spill. It seems as though the phone wants to charge but cant hold enough juice because Of the constant bootlooping. The sad part is aesthetically, my phone is in perfect condition. I look at it and think to myself, what a waste. The lesson of today for everyone is : KEEP YOUR ONE AWAY FROM ANY WATER SOURCE THAT COULD POTENTIALLY GET YOUR PHONE WET. Especially when drunk and being careless.

Hmm? This should work on all devices as far as I can tell. The company sells the S3 and i5 pretreated, but that doesn't mean we can't do this to our phones.
I'm thinking for the ultimate protection:
Ballistic Aspira case
Mime Ghost screen protector
Liquipel Coating
Total cost: $25 + $25 + $60 (0.o) = $110 for a peace of mind.
It'll be pocketable but pretty much indestructible.

If it's still not working, try bathing it in rubbing alcohol, preferably above 90%. Pure isopropyl alcohol is non-conductive so it should clean off what's left of the vodka while not harming your phone anymore than it already is. Worth a shot

I am currently testing a few devices for my company. I have been using the Note 9 for a few weeks and even if I don't use the S-Pen often, I already have bad experiences with it.
First event was when I was standing up while on a call. Phone was in a Spigen (Neo Hybrid) case and I dropped the phone on carpet that is probably typical to many offices out there. Phone came out perfectly fine but the S-Pen partly ejected and some how broke in half (right below the logo section). Cost be 80$CDN to replace it.
Today, while attempting to put the phone in my desk drawer, it fell 2 feet into the same carpet. S-Pen partly ejected again except this time I was lucky and it didn't break.
Obviously dropping the phone twice is a problem, but I'm curious to know if others ran into the same problem. We did purchase 3 Samsung devices from Amazon sold as (New, factory unlocked) but I am suspicious as to their origin. The note 9 was fine but one of the S9s came with pre-installed software from a bank in South America. Clearly not "new from the factory".
i have dropped my phone a few times at the gym already and every single time the spen shoots out.
That makes me nervous, specially since they aren't cheap.

LOL. Same exact thing happened to me yesterday at the gym. Dropped it off the bench press. Didn't even know the SPen came out, until I saw it. Was SO glad I had a bright yellow SPen!!

The SPens are $30USD directly from Samsung. I know there's an exchange rate, but I don't see it increasing the price to $80CDN.
Now $30USD is still expensive for what you get.
Except for yesterday at the gym, i never had my SPen just pop out when dropped. I've dropped mine a couple times, never anything major or a long fall, as I'm usually very careful with my phones, but stuff happens. It probably just has to do with how the phone hits the ground. Just right and it will jar the pen loose. It's only held in place with tension.
I certainly would not let it keep my from buying a Note 9 or using the SPen.

yeah i never had this issue with my note 8. I had an even slimmer case on the note 8 too. I dont seem to have any other issue with the pen though.
Who was the seller that you bought thr S9 from?

Mine definitely does not have that problem. I can shake and smash the bottom side against my hand and the SPen still stays in the phone..
I have seen videos of S-Pen shots out like this, when dropping it from a high height then it's normal that the pen shots out since it gives a strong knock into the phone so the magnet loses its grip on the S-Pen and it falls out. If they put a stronger magnet in the phone and S-Pen, then it would be alot harder to pull it out.
Is there a fix for this?

Super Glue.

No, since if you put a stronger magnet it may affect hardware or something. Super glue wont solve it either since then pen will be permanent stuck

You should be careful to what you joke about. Since some people are dumb enough to actually believe it and would do it. It's same when some guy on YouTube told people with iPhone 7 to drill a hole on left side to get ear phone Jack back. But when people did it, then their iPhone 7 broke.
So yeah be careful to what you say as joke.

Note 9 Screen Popping/Cracking Sound

Hello All,
I recently bought a brand new Note 9 from John Lewis in the UK and have had it for about 2 weeks now. It's been a great phone with one major issue: whenever I clean the screen with a microfibre cloth using a little bit of downward pressure on the screen I can hear a clear and loud popping/cracking sound. This happens when the phone is both powered on or off, the temperature of the phone makes no difference either and it happens around most of the screen surface, it doesn't seem to matter. Also when I fog the screen with my breathe I can see marks/patterns even if the screen is completely clean. I am not using a screen protector or a case. I am storing it in a pouch.
I did a little digging around online and a few others have had a similar issue too, their issues seems to be when they touch the screen (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/help/experience-popping-noise-pressing-note-t3881671). The consensus seems to be that there might be an issue with the glue/adhesive with the glue possibly being weak or loose.
I contacted John Lewis for a replacement and the second Note 9 has the exact same issue. At least one person who got a replacement got a new unit where the popping was worse and just refunded it.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
How common is this problem?
I have a owned quite a few phones (no Samsung phones btw) and this is the first time I have encountered this before. I have tried to replicate this on friends and family members phones, who all by chance happen to not own any Samsung phones either, no popping/cracking sound again.
This might be a lot to ask, but if anyone is willing to, can you replicate what I did to see if your unit makes this same popping/cracking sound by using a microfibre cloth and rubbing it over the screen with a little downward pressure? I know it's not something a lot of people naturally do, but it would be interesting to see how common this might be.
Thanks
Yea, I've got the same issue here too. Dint bother to take it to Samsung coz I cant replicate it all the time and the last time I did the the same with a Sony phone for a similar issue, they kept my device with them for 2 days and said its alright.
is it like a sticky sound? as if it was delaminating
Or static from the cloth...

Can't say for certain. Could be, but I don't know enough about that to confirm that. Best I can say is that if sounds like a cracking or popping sound when I rub over the screen with the cloth with a little bit of downward force.

I've just purchased a Note 9 from Argos around 3 weeks ago and it has this issue , wouldn't be a problem if I didn't have OCD!

check if it was refurbished. maybe the screen got repaired ?(not adequately)
anyways just take it back
I had the same problem when I sent my T-Mobile branded Note 9 to the Samsung repair center in Texas. They replaced the camera module because it was having trouble focusing after the software update to Pie. When it came back it had new issues and was returned. After my phone was gone for several weeks I made numerous phone calls to support requesting a replacement since this was the 2nd time I had returned the phone. One day I get an S-pen and an SD tray in the mail... no reason why, no explanation, nothing. More calls to Samsung wanting to know where my phone was or when a replacement or a refund was coming. Two days later a phone finally shows up out of the blue. It has a different IMEI so I guess it's a new phone. Everything works fine but it makes a crinkling noise when you clean the screen.. All tolled, Samsung held my phone hostage for over a month, the returned calls promised from supervisors never materialized, my phone disappeared into oblivion for weeks and I have an extra S-pen , an extra SD card tray and a Note with a crinkling screen. Worst customer support experience ever.
I've had a Note 9 since December that did this occasionally, but doesn't seem to do it any more. Hasn't affected it otherwise.
Probably Vietnamese or Chinese builds.
