Beiuns Tempered Glass Screen Protector [First Impressions] - Elephone P9000 Accessories

When shopping for a tempered glass screen protector for this phone, I decided to go with the Beiuns protector on Amazon UK due to the great reviews which unfortunately were not specific to the P9000.
The protector itself came well packaged and accompanied with all the wipes and stickers required for the application process (use the guidance stickers, they'll help you a ton). Application was a breeze but after a while, I began to notice that the protector does not adhere very well at the very edges of the screen. This is impossible to notice unless looking at the phone from an angle. This may be the cost of having the protector so flush to the edge of the phone.
The glass itself feels like... glass? A little tacky at the moment but I'm sure once my oily fingers lubricate the glass the experience will be much smoother. Unfortunately, this protector does have one rather substancial caveat; there has been a dramatic reduction in touch screen responsiveness which gives the illusion of a slow and uinresponsive phone. Light taps are left ignored and scrolling just doesn't feel as smooth.
It is because of the responsivness reduction that I would advise against getting this protector. You can check it out on Amazon here - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0...ummary#mobile-twister_size_name_1472216732457

I have this same exact issue. Sometimes light touches are completely ignored. Can get really annoying especially when typing or trying to swipe-type.

Clarivue screen protectors are damn good.

Just got one for my Milestone, and must say very impressed with the Clarivue screen protectors.
Not only are they actually made in Japan (I can tell since labels are also in Japanese), they give you two, along with a wet wipe.
Was very easy to apply. The Anti-Glare one I got does reduce clarity significantly but at the same time appears to be completely finger-print proof.
It's on special (at the moment), and got a 10% discount coupon from my first purchase so think I might buy another pack (this time the ultra-clear one)
http://www.clarivue.com/motorola-milestone-screen-protector.html
I have Clarivue screen protector on my Milestone also, and it's perfect. The second one I put perfect, the first one still had some dust beneath. Anyway for the money I prefer Clarivue instead Boxwave.
Do you see any orange peel with the screen saver?
whaaat 11$? no way, just go to ebay and check those sellers from HK - you can get these things pretty cheaply (even ten times cheaper)...
I've got the cheapest antiglare on earth for my milestone as I hate fingerprints and also with the antiglare it seems like it is easier to swipe fingers across the screen as they don't "stick" to the default glossy screen.
However I get pretty weird colors probably because of refraction characteristics of the protector. Even though - pros>cons.
Can you suggest any seller for the HK one? At least you tried them already.

I would say any ebay seller with 90%+ rating si good.
Look good! But does the milestone really need a screen protector?

If you keep your phone in a "sleeve" or you don't use the phone in dirty conditions - I would say - it doesn't need a screen protector.
However I use a matte protector for two reasons:
-it feels better, my fingers "sticks" to too shiny surfaces like milestone and with the matte protector I think it feels more smooth to swipe across the screen
-no finger prints!
I totally agree. Mine right now sucks. I'd like to try the matte.

Thanks for this! Im alway want no finger prints!
can they delivered it to indonesia?
The Milestone has a gorilla glass display thats very hard to scratch! It is harder than most metals and there are videos on youtube of people trying to scratch gorilla glass with keys and pens, but fail to do so... so its kinda pointless adding a protector as it will only detract from the smooth feel of the gorilla glass. It will reduce the sensitivity of the touch screen. It is counter productive!

You can find it on google - its a pretty well known fact - The Droid and the Milestone were amongst the first cell phones to use Gorilla glass on the display - youtube should have a bunch of videos too.
But you should understand - this only makes it very hard to scratch the glass - any material that has a hardness value higher than the gorilla glass can scratch it.
I was using a screen protector for a while but I got fed up with it after a while and took it off. The cover I used diffracted the light from the screen caused a slight rainbow effect and was less sensitive to the touch. One of the reasons I chose the milestone is because of the capacitive touchscreen and the cover made it almost as bad as an old resistive screen!
My screen is still scratch free dispite living in my pocket, although the metal around the screen has a few nicks. Gorilla glass is impressive there are some demos on the net like this one http://vimeo.com/8602963
The rainbow effect was because it was anti-glare. With clear protector you shouldnt get any difractions. Also the clear protectors are thinner so you get better sensitivity.
How are you protecting your screen from looking all smudged? And don't your finger "stick" to the glass without matte protector? Because for me that's even worse than having less sensitivity.
Yes the screen permantly has a bunch of fingerprint marks, although I don't notice them much. This will probably bother me more in summer when there is more sunlight around.
I find my fingers do the opposite of stick, they glide over the glass, with protectors I didn,t like the extra friction.
I appreciate it is down to personal preference.

I'm sorry to say that, but Gorilla Glass has one weak point, dust... Dust and sometimes sand have quartz and quartz still is harder than GG. My Milestone has survived so many falls but once, and just once, it slipped in the floor and one small spec of dust fell of the speaker grill and the screen got a tiny scratch from that single spec of dust.
It is hard to scratch it, but not impossible. Today I use a Invisible Shield and I'm happy with it, no more scratchs.
Here I use the phone only in a Noreve leather case... I dropped it only one time, the cover was open and the Stone felt with the screen on the floor and I got 2 tiny scratches on the amazing GG 8-|... I'm using a cheap screen protective film now ^^.

[Q] Is a screen protector necessary?

Is it really necessary to put a screen protector on my Nook Color, or is the screen pretty durable?
I don't want to put anything on it that will lessen the sensitivity of the capacitive screen.
Thanks.
Obviously you run more of a risk without one, but I feel the same way you do about the sensitivity...I personally use a cover that folds open like a book (as opposed to a pouch), so that protects it just fine in transit, while leaving the screen bare when in use.
I also figure the risks are a bit different for this vs a cell phone, since you're not carrying it around with your pocket (with your car keys), moving around a lot while using it, etc...
So yeah...if you're paranoid, you can use one, but due to the nature of the device I feel its screen isn't really at risk. Plus it does seem pretty durable.
I don't think it is necessary. However, I heard the protector will make your screen darker. If you think the screen is too bright even when you set to the low brightness, then get a screen protector.
I have a case, but I don't think it is necessary either if you don't carry outside of your home.
I got myself a clear screen protector just because i couldn't find an anti glare one. I prefer to use one because
1)Its easy to clean the screen protector than the nook screen
2)The clear one does not make any difference in screen quality afaik. I hear the anti glare one makes it a little darker
3)the obvious worry about scratching the screen but thats really not a major issue due to the nature of the device.
I have a screen protector on mine. And notice no difference to the touch screen sensitivity. Its also a piece of mind. Cause if i scratch my screen by accident all i have to do is replace my screen protector.

Have always used protectors on touch screens myself. Subscribe to better to have one and not need it than need one and not have it. Get a good one and sensitivity should not be affected.
I prefer the matte feel of the screen protector vs bare glass. I think it goes without saying that a device with such a large surface of glass has a greater chance of being marred in some way.
Yeah, don't cheap out. Get a zagg or similar one that isn't just a 10 cent cheapo from China and you get minimal to no reduction in sensitivity, while actually keeping your screen clearer because there aren't smudges, scuffs, and fingerprints all over the screen.
I have the Barnes and Noble anti-glare screen protector, and it makes a significant difference if you plan on using it in sunlight.
A screen protector seems to help/resolve the complaint that many have about the screen being too sensitive and of it being sensitive to dirt & moisture .. my experience says it helps quite a bit ...
I have the B&N Anti-Glare Screen protector and I have no noticeable decline in touch sensitivity. Easy to clean and looks great in Stock mode or with the Nookie Froyo.
I have a non glare protector... I like it better, personal preference.
i use a protector simply because it has a matte surface.. i hate glossy surfaces (ie the nook's virgin screen)
i got mine for $3 shipped on ebay and it fits and looks great

Not only that, but fingerprints are almost a thing of the past.

[Q] Fingerprint-Proof Screen protector

I have been looking for oil-resistant screen protectors for this phone all over the internet. Do any of you have one that is oil resistant but CLEAR?
Because I used Steinheil Fingerprint Proof and it really affected the vision (it's a matte material :S? no idea). Is it possible for there to be a screen protector that is fingerprint free AND clear?
I just bought a "5pcs Clear LCD Screen Protectors For Motorola XT720 701" off ebay.
It says its Fingerprint Free, but I don't know if I could trust that. Because I got a screen protector from HK saying it reduces fingerprints, but it still had oil stains.
So, any Fingerprint resistant AND clear screen protectors that people can recommend?

Screen protectors are worse than fingerprints. I used some of the best in the market like zagg and bodyguardz. They are clear in the start but slowly accumulate scratches and imperfections and decolourize ruining your viewing experience. Not to mention they too attract fingerprints. I removed my zagg after 4 months and I enjoy my phone ten times more. Just wipe it on your shirt when it gets a lil dirty. Besides fingerprints dont show up when the screen is on anyways. Its only when the screen is off that you notice them.
Our XT720's screen is made of Gorilla Glass, which is very hard and scratch proof. So, unless you'd like an anti-glare (another word for matte) protector, you won't need clear or whatever. As Sorhab said, screen protectors are made of plastic and can easily be scratched.
Only matte screen protectors are fingerprint free. Even that, you still need to wipe it with mild soap-liquid at least once a month to clear.
.
i was afraid of that, because Matte traps light in AND out. so on a bright day, the screen is less bright, and the sunlight is trapped inside, giving off a generally hard to see screen.
I'm a bit of a clean screen freak. Ive been using no screen protector for a few days and I always end up having to wipe it alot. Everything is a lot clearer though.
I guess there really is no hope. If I want oil-free, then I have to sacrifice clarity and brightness right

Go without the screen protector, our XT720's have one of the most beautiful screens and resolution. Overtime youll come to notice them less. Its only when we buy something new that we are anal about cleanliness

Very Good Screen Protector

Hey all,
A little headsup I found an awesome screen protector. Thought I'd post it as theirs been an influx of "MASSIVE SCREEN SCRATCH" Threads.
This screen protector is military grade, does NOT scratch.
The only downside (could be an upside for some) is that it requires soapy water for install.
I have this screen protector and can not tell you how happy I am !!!
Check it out here
Once applied, all bubbles disappear within about 24 hours. Once its fully dried and bubbles are gone, its virtually invisible !!
It feels lovely to touch, you can feel it but its not a nasty feel like some of the other protectors. Almost the same sort of feel as an Xtreme Guard, but less rubbery !
If you want any more info feel free to ask.
Wilks3y.
Hi!
I'm planning to buy a screen protector and I might choose this one, can you tell me about how effective it is against fingerprints and smudges?
Well, I have a XtremeGuard screen protector which is also a soapy install screen protector and I must say it's nice. There are some major downsides like smudges and an orange-peel effect which happens if you don't install it correctly (also happens when you do install it correctly, but minor). The only way I can remove smudges off this thing is with water and a micro-fiber cloth which isn't something I carry around with me everywhere. That being said, dry screen protectors are the way too go. They can be cleaned easily (meaning smudges can be removed with your sleeve) and look better when the protector is installed on your device. I've gone through the Zagg Invisible Shield (the one OP posted), XtremeGuard's screen protector, and a normal screen protector and the dry one is the best in my opinion.

Hey, it hardly shows any finger prints at all. I've cleaned it once since install (month or two ago) and that was just a wipe with my jumper sleeve. Much better than the others such as the XtremeGuard mentioned below.

Hi, I also have an extreme guard on my HOX and I agree with your comment. However, and this will sound weird, try this:
Rub the finger prints in, with your finger. Untill they are really smudgy and horrible, then get your jumper sleeve and just wipe the smudge fairly hard. I'm telling you this works like a charm and gets rid of all finger prints !!

Matte vs Clear Screen Protectors

Hi
I scratched the shatter proof screen protector (badly, i hit the screen with the tip of a USB cable and it made a really deep scratch)
I'm kind of obsessive with the phone's screen so I'm planning to remove the shatter proof protector from my Xperia T and place a new one but I'm not sure about wich one is better
Clear protectors promise high transparency but matte ones promise anti dust + anti finger prints
It would be nice to get rid easier from dust and finger prints, but I'm not sure about how will the image be afected. Does anyone know if matte protectors mess with the image in any way? Wich one would you recommend?
Thanks for taking time to read my question, I hope you can help me
Also, I've read that the Xperia Z and some new models come with the Sony logo printed on the screen protector instead of the glass, are the new models of Xperia T like that, too?
Get the clear. Matte will not only noticeably reduce screen quality, but'll also mess with your eyes and mind >.<
I'd recommend a matte screenprotector. I had a clear one, but after a while there started to show some scratches. After bought a matte one, I noticed that the image on the screen wasn't affected that much. Also, your finger slides more easily over the screen when using a matte one, so I recommend a matte screen protector!
After I was getting more and more annoyed by constant screen polishing, and also the occasional rainbow spots left from skin lipid, this morning I removed the glossy screen protector to apply a matt type.
After I switched the phone back on I got a mild shock. The amount of degradation in sharpness and vividness was surprising. My mobile's screen pixel density is 342 ppi, so, quite good. With the matt plastic it's like putting the bottom of my water bottle as a lens protector for a Zeiss camera lens.
I feel what would really be needed is something in between, with a silky smooth, semi-gloss surface.
I've got this one : http://www.disagu.fr/golebo-semi-matt-protection-d-ecran-pour-sony-xperia-tx.html
very good product.
i like the matte one.. its comfortable in my hand,. and my finger like dancing on the screen....
its not too affect color quality...

Yep I've tried both types on various devices and I wish there was something which had the best of both worlds...
But for now I guess it's:
Glossy - best image quality but get dirty
Matte - clean & smooth but degradation of image sharpness & colour
On my tablet I use glossy and my phone I use matte
