Recommendation on Android Head Unit? (I've done some research but need help) - MTCB Android Head Units General

I am looking for a recommendation on an Android Head Unit. I see a few different options common in the forum but I really do not want to make a mistake in choosing since it seems like small mistake can cause huge headaches in terms of what is supported. Some basic information I am looking for:
- Double Din, universal fit style
- Looking to incorporate factory steering wheel controls if possible (not sure if this is vehicle specific - will be going in a 2010 Mazda Miata)
- Would prefer picking a model with as much information here has possible in attempt to alleviate headaches down the road
Unless I am mistaken, it seems like the Joying units are common here. I see that there is both 5.1 and 4.4.4 options available. There seems to be a decent amount of info on the KitKat versions here (would be looking at the Y-UQ124 model):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...oying-rk3188-rk3066-2-din-head-units-t3193170
Is there a difference hardware/performance wise between the 4.4.4 and the newer 5.1 models? Can the ones that come with KitKat be upgraded to Lollipop? I don't mind running custom firmware too as long as it is stable.
Am I moving in the right direction? What would be the best head unit based on what I am looking for? Thanks in advance for all your help!

Ease of use

I am considering upgrading to the new 4G network my phone provider has upgraded to and have a few questions for you One fans. The choice is between Galaxy S4 and HTC One. I almost know the answer but where does the One excel? And 2: Is the One as easy to root and install new ROMs on as the Galaxy S III I have (or rephrased: is the One easy to root and install new ROMs on if you have no experiences to compare with).
I could not think of any place else to ask this, I have had so uch use of this site.

The better place to ask such a question is in the Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum, which is where I've moved this to
As a future reference, only development work belongs in the development forums. If the thread is anything else, it doesn't belong there.
Now, in regards to your questions, I'd honestly say the One excels throughout. I've had the phone since March (just after release) and not had a single problem with it since. Even the fact that mine is an early build hasn't presented any issues either. The thing I'd pinpoint as far as what impressed me the most is the BoomSound dual speakers. The volume and clarity is perfect and is still as good now as when I first got the One.
Rooting and installing ROMs is just as simple as with other phones as well. If you have a search around this forum you'll soon find guides and videos about how to root the One and installing ROMs is exactly the same as with other devices.
I hope this helps
Thank for the help moving my posting. There's a new contender, the Asus PadFone, but a serious drawback is that the pad is only working WITH the phone inserted.... The tablet tempts, though. A LOT. Desicions, desicions ;=) But it will probably be one of the two first, since they have the capability to act as IR remote for my stereo for a minimal amount. Any experience in that department, any one?? Does it work, without having it hooked up to a car battery under the reclining chair??

NTG 4.5 Android Auto Upgrade

Have anyone of you experience with upgrade ntg 4.5 Mercedes E w212 to Android ?
Can you recommend some hardware ?
Also looking for one for the e class coupe. I think the "original brand" is carsara - all the other ones seem to look like whitelabeled devices. Lookup alixp "w212 android". Broad terms but should cover good deals otherwise you would not find. And obviously in your example buy the one that works with NTG4.5.
There are units out there with round or straight edges with 10,25" of screen. And also with 4 GB RAM which should be more responsive. If you want to cheap out on RAM, you should definitely look for custom roms - once you've found out about the dev (MCU something?) or somebody on the internet. Or cleanup yourself with root permissions.
I am going to research further before i purchase, as i don't want to brick it right away.

Updating Android on IdeaPad.

Hey all, I recently get my hand on a Lenovo IdeaPad A10 (S/N UB02130810). Obviously it's quite an old device already, but it's in a really good shape and I may find it quite useful on my daily routine.
However, it's currently running an Android 4.2 and I was curious if there is a way to manually update it/install from scratch any new version, preferably Android 10 I think.
A friend of mine tried to look for something online but couldn't find a definitive answer or solution in how I could do that, so I though I may ask here, I hope I chose the right thread, my first time posting here

Hello from a noob who's into phone deGoogling

Hello good people of XDA.
Over the past few months an interest in flashing custom ROMs onto smartphones turned into a hobby of refurbishing and deGoogling phones. Mostly Motorola models.
I've used this forum a few times when looking up information on a phone I'm trying to flash. Right now my favorite is LineageOS but I've been meaning to try out some others.
Motorola phones are my favorite because so many of their models seem to be moddable. The LG v20 I picked up has a too recent version of android to try rolling back for a firmware flash, so when I have some extra cash I plan on buying an unused one from a chinese vendor and hoping it has the old android version 7.
My favorite phones are ones with IR blasters. Mostly because of how much you can control anything with a remote using your phone, I really don't understand why this feature isn't more common, but I suspect it's because of how mischievous they can be if misused.
Personally I don't have much IT experience professionally, I just recently got a CompTIA A+ certificate and am looking for my first helpdeks job to get into the field, but I'm really interested in getting into computer security. As of right now my big fascination is trying to remove as much of Google and as much tracking from a smartphone as possible while keeping app functionality.
Mobile development is something I never really thought I'd get into but I've found is extremely interesting to me. Hope I can contribute as the time comes

Newbie questions about T817W

Hey everyone, I'm brand new to this whole thing and I've looked everywhere and have just gotten more confused. I have a Tab S2 LTE (SM-T817W) and I'm trying to get LineageOS or just anything to get a newer version of android to make this old tablet feel a little newer. I've looked everywhere and it seems like there is almost no mention of the T817W and no support for it either, However other models do have support? Is my tablet just a uncommon model or is there something different about it that makes it unsupported. Also if there IS anything I can do to upgrade it to a newer version of android and someone can point me in the right direction that would be great. Thanks!
