Unbrick LG G4 H811 9008 Qualcomm - T-Mobile LG G4

Hi guys,
i came up with a temporary to unbrick LG G4 H811 , you just need a 32 GB SD card ( i used Sandisk 10 class) , the dump that i will link , and Win32 disk Imager, the SD card must low level formatted.
1- download this dump
http://www.mediafire.com/download/nkaarfueu161run/H811-10N-fulldump.zip
2- put the SD card in the PC and chose the dump file and write ( run as admin ):
3- put the sd card in the phone plug the battery and power on.
now you will be able to enter Download mode, the problem is that when you flash a firmware, it goes to the SD card rather than the EMMC memory. the Dump is included with TWRP recovery and an unlocked Bootloader, so if someone happens to know how to access or mount the EMMC memory that would be awesome
Guys this solution is for H811 bricked by Firmware downgrade, not for deffective devices (serial 505) which Bricked on there own
EDIT : if you can enter TWRP recovey , check if your EMMC memory is alive by typing in terminal : cat /proc/partitions
if you see both mmcblk0 and mmcblk1 , congratulations !! your EMMC is alive , if not , you can use the SD card as your primary storage and flash either a custum ROM or KDZ

Thanks for your efforts but this did not work for me. Maybe someone else will have better luck??

hard bricked my g4
I saw this post and jumped at the opportunity to try something different than what ive been trying. I will post back with results on whether or not this process was successful. I hope someone finds a permanent solution to this issue. All of my rom flashing experience comes from the HTC M7 (Sprint) which I found out extremely fast is a lot more forgiving. I flashed a rom to my G4 and as soon as I rebooted my phone wouldnt power on or show any signs of life although in device manager it shows the phone as a "port" then qualcomm 9008,,,,, Anyway, fingers crossed!:good:

Unfortunately I dont think this worked for me either. Unless there is something Im doing wrong.

Using a Sandisk Ultra 32GB SD Card with a Sandisk reader to put into the computer, WinDisk32 and the image provided phone shows signs of life! My battery is dead but it is charging. It is now boot looping to Secure Booting Error - Error Code: 1006. I will get a real charge on the battery now and then play around. Thanks for this!
Unfortunately it will not stay on the Download Mode long enough to do anything. But at least there is life.

This got me on the right path and I did fix it like this. I downloaded the H811 V20o dump from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/unbrick-lg-g4-h815-9008-qualcomm-t3452853) Link to file here Link .
After I did this I booted up to download mode but would not get a USB connection (go figure) so I booted to TWRP and flashed the Bootloader for H811 20i and the Boot from Here.
After I rebooted this allowed me to boot in Download mode with a USB connection. Once I saw that I removed my MicroSD flashed the 20o KDZ and I was back up and running!
Hopefully this helps anyone stuck!

How did you get into recovery mode to flash the .bin you mentioned? I just keep getting the Secure Boot 1006 error and boot loops on Download mode.

If you can boot off the SD card, plugging in the USB while the phone is off and holding VOL UP will get you into Download mode. If you need to get to recovery hold VOL DOWN + PWR until the LG Screen shows then briefly let go of PWR and hold it again. This will give you the normal recovery options, select yes 2 times to boot into TWRP.

Awesome, so I saw the recovery but after I select yes two times it just black screened. I restarted the phone by pulling the battery and tried imaging twrp to the drive. Did it again and it just restarted to that 1006 error after selecting yes twice.
Now, I have flashed everything that did work and nothing comes up kind of baffled at what happened might be my SDCard is doing something wonky so will have to check another card when I have time to go buy one.

Just to clarify. When the imager was done writing to the disk. Did you have an actual image or a folder with files that said image?

Update:
And as I type this I just flashed the singleimage.bin again and I am able to get into the Factory Reset page.
-----Old Post-----
Shows up as like an 86MB partition with 11.9MB free space.
Inside there is an "image" folder with around 178 files in it. This happens when I image either the singleimage.bin, the H811-10N-fulldump.img, or Dump_H811_1GB.img.
The H811-10N image used to work, as did the systemimage.bin. But now nothing I am flashing to the MicroSD is pulling up the phone.

Thanks for the quick response:good: How did you flash the single img bin? Was your phone on when you did that?

Ok so I did the following using the singleimage.bin file:
- Win32DiskImager > 32GB MicroSDCard.
- Eject the SDCard from Windows.
- Battery is out of the phone.
- Put the SDCard into phone.
- Put Battery into Phone.
- Plug Phone into Computer (not sure if this is necessary)
- Boot loop with Secure Boot 1006 error.
- Hold the Vol Down + Pwr until LG. Let off Pwr while still holding VolDown then press and hold Pwr till Factory Reset is up.
- Press Yes twice
- After this I see the Secure Error 1006 message faintly come up.
- Reboots to BootLoop, no TWRP.
It feels like I am missing something here. If anyone can correct me I would appreciate it.

SD Card cannot be read and G1 firmware does not boot up (almost bricked)

Hi guys,
First off I want to say this site is great in what it is doing for the mobile phone world! This is my first post and I am a noob so be gentle haha! Well ok, i've messed up my g1 phone and its almost bricked. I think I have identified two problems:
Problem 1:
I was trying to partition my sd card using a method from a site called theunlockr.com. Where they used the apps2sd software:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_7n1g8jXgY
After performing the procedure, my 2 gig sd card cannot be read on my computer (comes up with "insert disc") and cannot be read on my phone as well. My SD card is completely wiped and I tried formatting it again but it still cannot be read.
Problem 2:
I tried to reboot my phone and now it gets to g1 tmobile screen but no further. To turn the phone off I have to take out the battery.
I can get into the recovery utility using the pwr and home buttons so I do not believe it is bricked, but as my computer cannot read the sd card, I am not able to copy any roms to make any progress.
My question is whether if after buying a new sd card and formatting it, can I simply reflash of my ROM by doing "alt & S" to make it work? The reason why I ask is whether I should simply send it back to TMob and play dumb to get a new phone or buy a new sd card and usb reader.
I am looking at it too simply and there is more to it? E.g have I messed around too much and damaged the file system links etc on my phone. Will a reflash of the cynogen rom using the recovery utility completely reset my phone and get me passed the boot screen loader to the operating system?
I had the following set up on my phone:
Firmware: Cyanogen 4.02
Recovery Image: 1
Recovery Utility build: JF v1.43
Thanks for your input!
Mepow!
Reflashing your phone if you messed up partion it will not work, if you pop out your sdcard and then try to boot it prob will, try a card reader and format and repartion or you can try recovery console and type ums_enable to try to mount your sd card while connect usb to your computer and try to format it that when and when you are done type ums_disable and then type reboot to reboot the phone
thanks tried that in the recovery console but it came up with
"ubs_enable not found". My computer unfortunately does not recognise the sd card.
You gotta type ums_enable not ubs as you said in the last post

Nook Won't Boot After Formatting SD Card

My Boot will not boot no matter what I do. I encountered this issue after flashing to phiremod v4, which worked beautifully until I decided to free up some storage space on my SD card and format it through the Nook. The next time I tried to boot, I got the dreaded black screen.
I've burned Clockwork Recovery (4gb v .7) onto the SD card and copied the Nook Color V1.1.0_r2 rom (found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932145). From there, I formatted the data, system, and cache, then installed the rom from the SD card. Everything went through smoothly, until I rebooted the Nook (with the SD card out). Nothing happens! The Nook simply will not reboot without the SD card inserted. Even if it boots (with the SD card) it just sends me back to Clockwork Recovery.
I also tried recovering the Nook through ADB (using the steps found here http://mrm3.net/2011/01/24/113/). I install everything, but I cannot locate the ADB device in the device manager. I've even used the .bat file to auto installs ADB, but it is still not found in the device manager.
I've read that it is nearly impossible to brick a Nook, but I'm not sure what else to try. I'm a Android noob, so please bear with me. TIA!
Fairly certain I read about a bug with formatting the SD card on the NC, that it would format the internal memory instead. I would imagine you will need to flash a new image to the internal memory (should be stock image floating around here somewhere).
No worries, you are most likely NOT bricked. There are hundreds of posts about people thinking they bricked their device.
First thing is first, IF YOU READ THE POST IT SPECIFICALLY STATES DO NOT FORMAT THE SDCARD USING THE NOOK AS IT WIPES THE /BOOT
My suggestion to you is do some research on XDA there are PLENTY of posts about "unbricking" your device.
I have only seen 1 nook be bricked, and it was hardly bricked because it could be booted from an SDCard.
Try following the instructions here to return back to the stock OS:

Yeah, I realize that was a big no no. I am unable to perform any of the steps in the link you provided because my nook doesn't even reach the 'Welcome to the future of reading' screen. Also, I can't try method 2 because ADP is not working properly.
I should mention that I also tried samuelhalff's first method to no avail. Any other ideas?
So you CAN boot from an SDCard correct? Only way to boot again is to flash the boot file...

Yes, I can boot (to Clockwork Recovery) if the SD card is inserted and the power cord is inserted and I hold the power button for 10 seconds. If I install a rom from the SD card, doesn't it flash the boot file? If not, how do I flash the boot file?
I know you said you tried Sams method, I would re-read how to flash his boot repartition file found on his froyo on emmc thread

Here's the link to the boot file. I did the same thing not long ago (formatted SD from within CM7) and I fixed it by flashing this file to repartition the boot.
It's the last link in the OP of this thread (repartition-boot-with-stock.zip):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914690
If that doesn't work, he has a couple of restore to stock methods in that thread as well.

Any luck with it?
Yeah, I had to do the 8 failed boot attempts to bypass that screen, then re-root. Now, I'm all set! Phiremod is installed again.
Glad to have helped! Happy nooting!

[Q] After formatting internal SD with NTFS it can't mount nor format even with CWM

It happened after formatting it with NTFS (it was a temporary thing so I can use it with one of Microsoft services), and my device is working and rebooting properly without any error messages..So what can I do now to make my SD working again?
(I don't really need the data that was on it, I just need the card to work)
Thanks..

try formatting the card from within CWM, i presume if you boot up the phone you can't mount/unmount it and subsequently format it from within Android.
but i would try fromating it as FAT32 from within Windows 7 first, NTFS is not supported by Android to the best of my Knowladge...
Thanks, yes I can't format it in Android since i can't mount it, I've already tried formatting it from CWM with no luck, it showed this:
Formatting /sdcard...
Error mounting /sdcard!
Skipping format...
Done.
And windows doesn't see the card at all when I connect phone to PC, so I can't use windows to format it too.

Try a formatting tool or recovery tool in My Android Collections
olaf2k4
Turned out you're right, the problem is android not being able to handle NTFS properly, I tried to format external SD card with NTFS to see what will happen, and I had the EXACT same symptoms, but of course I removed from phone and had it formatted using card reader and it's working properly now with my phone..
xsenman
The problem now is that windows can't see internal card at all, I've tried one of format tools form the link you put, but it didn't help since phone "doesn't allow" windows to detect the memory, any other way to do it? right now I'm trying this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1724078
It seems like it isn't easy to install NTFS support from the link above (since you need fuse.ko file that should be compiled for both your device and ROM), is there any kernal that support NTFS or any other easy way to do it?
If you are talking about your external sd just format at fat32. This is standard for sdcards and your phone wil reconize your card..
Unfortunately it is the internal one..

Finally, I found a solution, just do the following (I tried it and it worked):
1. First install the drivers ONLY if you haven`t already installed them, also if you have Kies installed there is no need to install these drivers, but you are better off installing these anyway : http://dev-host.org/ZRA
2. Download this package (it includes i9000 stock rom+kernel+odin) : http://dev-host.org/RAE, if you have a Captivate or a Vibrant just download a stock rom for your phone model and find a kernel which has root and cwm in it.
NOTE : The next step will require using the 3 key combo for accessing the clockworkmod recovery and also the download mode. The 3 key combo used below is for the Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000. If you own a Captivate or a Vibrant please click this link and choose your phone model to see what 3 key combo must be used, as it differs from one phone model to another : http://tinyurl.com/6q6ajpx
3. After you have extracted all the contents you downloaded and installed drivers, put your phone into download mode using the 3 key combo : volume DOWN + home button+power button, keep those pressed until it goes into download mode.
4. Connect phone to PC via USB Cable and open Odin (windows should detect the phone and install some drivers, after it`s finished you should see the message "Added!" in Odin which means Odin succesfully detected your phone so now you are ready to flash)>check Re-Partition Option>press PIT button and browse for the s1_odin_20100512.pit file, press BOOTLOADER button and browse for the APBOOT… file, press PDA button and browse for the CODE….file, press PHONE button and browse for the MODEM….file, press CSC button and browse for the GT-I9000-CSC….file. PRESS START button and wait for the green pass notification in Odin.
• When the phone reboots into the rom, wait for the setup wizard to appear and then just use the 3 key combo into the download mode again.
Close Odin and open it again> press PDA button and browse for CF-Root…file> Press START button and wait for the green pass notification in Odin.

No need to do all this.
Just:
- remove external sd card (if you have one inserted)
- reboot into CWM-based recovery
- mounts and storage
- mount USB storage
You will be able to see and format, FAT32, the disk using windows

I tried your method, but selecting "Mount USB" was throwing the error i mentioned in my last post. Though i solved it eventually. Somehow i ended up in the phone's own recovery/bootloader menu, had an option of "Low level format" there. Took around an hour or so .. but it worked :good:

[Q] Recover data from Soft Bricked Phone

First I'd like to thank you for spending time to help me out with my problem. I've tried to handle the problem on my own for the past 2 days, and amount to nothing. I've searched the internet about this issue, and tried to adb pull my photos and tried to flash using ODIN v3.07. But the device doesn't seem to be able to be detected by few computers I've tried. I've changed different cables to see if it would help, but it doesn't help either. I've also tried to use Odin v3.04 to see if it helped.
Problem: Galaxy note is stuck at the samsung logo and cannot continue to main screen.
Cause: Removed battery to take memory card out, after that, reinsert the SD card and the problem occurs. (Battery was also at the low)
Needs: Recover photo from phone
Prevent: Factory reset
What the phone does:
Samsung Mobile USB composite successfully connected
Can get to download mode
What it can't:
Samsung MTP USB failed to connect
Not detected in ODIN v3.07
Phone Condition:
GT N7000 (International version)
Have never been rooted before
1 year 3 months age
Thank you so much for your attention, I hope all you "GURUs" can help out a noob like me.
photos? are those saved in the gallery? taken by cam?

once done.. power off the phone and reboot into recovery .. CWM should be there..
go to mounts and storage and choose mount usb storage and conenct to PC.. check if you can get the drives there... (may take a few secs)
if no.. then install the 2nd zip.. aroma file manager.. this will give you a file manager in recovery... you can copy required files from the internal SD to external SD. then power off and remove the sd card..
Thank you so much!
From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU SO SO MUCH! Thanks to you, I can have a good night sleep. :fingers-crossed: You're clearly a Guru! Better than the staff's I've consulted from Samsung Service. Again, thank you!
did you manage to recover the photos? how?
I used the first kernel (Philz) and updated the phone through SD card, mounted the USB through CWM and connect to my computer. Then I got the notification from my computer it got detected. Yeah! Haha, thank you so much!
Now, trying to figure out is it possible to flash odin using this technique.
no...
but you could try doing a factory reset.. .. and check if the phone boots up.. keep in mind that you now have an ICS kernel.. so if the rom was ics then the phone may boot up.. but if it was JB or GB then it wont..
you can also try to install a custom rom from here..
Thank you so much for your insights. Sorry to bother you, but which Custom Rom do you recommend? I'd like to have an experts point of view.
hmmm thats really hard to answer... but you could try JB for note. like eybees, or ulitmate and more..

if yes the factory reset doesnot erase that...
1. try booting without the sd card..

Sir
newbie here.My device isn't rooted.Yesterday, I downloaded Marshmallow update 6.0.1.At 43%,I started the update.I thought it will complete in that.you know, the logo and all came.I watched it updating till 85% then got on with my work. Then,I felt a vibration.I saw it rebooting and then it showed samsung logo in all white. It wouldn't move forwards after that.I heard 3 vibrations periodically. The 1st one...4 sec gap...and then the 2nd & 3rd vibrations in quick succession. And it would go on infinitely until the battery discharged.I plugged it in the wall charger and then I noticed the charging has also become very slow.I left it for charging at 6 AM and till now(12:14pm),its just 58%.I read in a thread about force restrat and quickly going into recovery mode.I wiped the cache partition hoping it would solve the problem but it didn't. I couldn't understand the rest of the part,so I didn't try.I selected power off option and right now it is charging.I have important data stored on the internal storage so I fear doing a factory reset.I also have fingerprint lock on it so I have no idea how to connect to PC and use.I got no idea about flashing roms.Is there any possible way to revert back to lollipop? I just want my data before I do something. Please help.I really want my data.I can manage without the tab.
I want to recover photos and no,they were not taken by camera.Rather, they were transferred to the device via sharing apps and I deleted other copies. Please help.I need my data.
I stay far away from solo kernels. Only if it is packed i a recovery file.Till now, i don't have problems, whatever I try to do with my Note.
From 4.1.2 to 7.1.1, no problem.

I know this is an old thread and these files probably are not up to date either. Hope someone can help.
I tried the philz zip and it went by quick but I believe I got a "signature not verified error."
I tried the aroma zip and I think it said "incorrect footer?"
Thanks for any help.

I have no issues with accessing SD card once Android boots up. I have tried, reflashing recovery and erasing cache via fastboot. Anything I should try?
EDIT: Fixed by swapping out my Samsung 32gb UHS-1 MicroSD (that was working fine when I booted android) with an 8gb Class 4 Kingston! No UHS-1 in recovery?
interesting, @eteles has a xt1040 i believe and he reported that it was working with the new dtb files.

It works flawlessly on XT1040... Using 32GB sandisk class 10 sdcard...
Flashed it via the app rashr on my XT1039
I can access my sdcard files and backup to it (that's all i tested so far)
@vpnair : maybe you can try to download it again
Congrats and thank you a lot !
You guys are amazing. Seriously ^^

The interesting thing is, I believe i did access the external SD initially (via Install Zip option), but when I went to the option of Mounts and Storage and attempted to mount external sd (to access on PC). It came with mounting error. Since then, no matter what I do, I cannot access SD card from recovery.
Recent attempts at flashing
1. Tried redownloading and flashing with both fastboot and mfastboot. Noticed that bootloader said 'Mismatched partition size (Recovery)' in red. Didn't notice the first time i flashed (maybe it was there.. I dont know).
(EDIT: Fixed by swapping out my Samsung 32gb UHS-1 MicroSD (that was working fine when I booted android) with an 8gb Class 4 Kingston! No UHS-1 in recovery?)
2. Can't boot from bootloader to recovery (first time it just went to normal bootup, now it just turns off the phone) (EDIT: Solved! - Have to select Recovery via Volume Up key - Thanks @eteles)
3. Volume UP + DOWN + Power button goes to bootloader too not recovery.
4. Can only get into recovery by 'Reboot --> Recovery' (advanced reboot menu with gravitybox) EDIT: See 2.

ah yea i dont expect it to connect to a computer and allow transfer of files in recovery mode, usually taht requires the lun file and even then its iffy at best if it works.
1) mismatched just means it didnt match the exact size of the original.
2) thats very odd...
3) good to know, i did a quick google on how to enter recovery and saw the buttons so i figured that was it
here is the md5sum for CWM-6.0.5.0-peregrine.img to avoid file corruption

You have to boot into bootloader mode, go to recovery option with volume down key and select it with vol UP... Do not use power button to select it...
Is this a touch recovery?

Haha indeed. I'm proper retard. Now it boots into recovery fine. But MD5 of CWM recovery is okay (@stephtban thanks for the suggestion though). Also tried Shabby's TWRP. No luck.
I guess i screwed something up by trying to mount it. :S Always open to suggestions, if anyone can come up with any. But for now, I'll say its just my phone that hates me and leave it at that.
Thanks Shabby. Swell guy. I'll donate once I get money next week. Hope others do too, for the time you've spent on this.

I had the same thought as you, it seemed to be the only variable. It's a Samsung 32gb SD Card Class 10 MicroSDHC UHS-1 (like this).
I have read that Moto G does not suppoert UHS-1 speed, but that it is still compatible. And it does, works fine...except recovery! Swapped it for a 8gb Kingston MicroSDHC Class 4 and voila...working!
Interesting that the the the 32gb UHS-1 card does work once I boot up (so it isn't a hardware issue). Motorola need to address this.
