WiFi Tether - FireFTP does not connect - Please Help - BLU R1 HD Questions & Answers

Hey all,
So i have a Prime R1 HD - unrooted.
When I setup WiFi hotspot (through Settings), internet works except for connecting to FTP using FireFTP client (FireFox addon)
I sometimes need to do work on the go, and I use FireFTP becuase I don't have to swtich windows / programs to jump between web page and FTP cleint
But with R1HD, I cannot connect to ANY website via FTP inside firefox.
ANY IDEA? I tried doing IP6 inside APN - no luck
FileZilla FTP client works ok, but is not convenient
PLEASE HELP GUYS

Please, can you clarify. Are you having trouble with your PC/laptop. And the r1hd is just as your modem.
??
Do you have option to test same site with wifi, and see if that works? Then switch to tethered connection?

VPN?

Hi
Just purchased a Kaiser and loving it!
I am new to windows mobile and trying to SSH into one of my work servers.
I have purchased PocketTY and copied my SSH2 key on to my device. I have setup a VPN in the connections settings.
How on earth do I make PocketTY connect via 3G and dial my VPN to access the server? I cannot find any docs this at all. Do I need a VPN client and if so which one should I get.
Thanks
bump
Does no one really know how to do this?
Thanks
Try PocketPutty, works a treat for me and it's free........
I think that it depends on what type of vpn you're using. Me for example I use Open VPN and therefore I had to use openvpn client on my kaiser (and I'm very happy that there is one). I also think that in your case is the vpn that isn't working properly yet. Let me know what vpn link do you have and I'll try to help you

Internet Sharing settings?

Im using the tmobile web proxy hack and trying to use the internet sharing feature on the wing. When i enable internet sharing, all i see on my computer (vista), is a local connection enabled, but no internet. For anyone using the proxy hack, what settings do you have that work with internet sharing? thanks.
Im using the pdaviet .14 rom in case it helps. Anyone have an idea of whats wrong?
In order to use the I.S feature you will need to have the total internet

You need to set the proxy settings in Internet Explorer on your desktop.
It is slow but it works
In Internet Explorer, click on Tools, then go to internet options, then go to connections, check use proxy, then you should know the rest.

Hamachi VPN VNC Setup:

I've really begun to use Hamachi in so many different ways. Routing realvnc/ftp/voip/etc through hamachi. I make sure that only the 5.0.0.0/255.0.0.0 ip block can connect and with hamachi for windows mobile and vnc/ftp/total commander/etc. I can access all my machines on the network securely. If anyone is curious on how to do this let me know.
It is nice using my home network as a proxy to access the web securely at work. It's way faster than tor, secure and no one at work can monitor my activities.
Hamachi with magicJack
Hi Klepto,
I have a magicjack. Is it possible to use hamachi free edition to tunnel VoIP? My ISP is blocking the VoIP ... I have a computer in US that I can tunnel to .. I am in Karachi.
Sincerely,
Tariq
I tried once to use hamachi on my kaiser winmo. But after installing it, I could find the way to browse through network. I tried to type the IP adress directly in the File exporer or total commander. I guess I'm missing something about the use of it despite I get it right on different PCs. And there's no faqs or docs on their website.
So while I didn't get a simple file access, you get a proxy use of your machine '-_-
How to configure it
Hi,
How is it possible to use Hamachi for Windows Mobile to connect to a hamachi gateway, I got the client, but it has been removed from their website? I got version 0.0.3.1, is it the same version you use
Thanks a lot.
Pretty P.Oed that LogmeIn just pulled the client w.o. warning. I contacted their online chat, which was useless - just told me that LMI no longer supports the Windows Mobile platform.
I updated the rom on my phone and now do not have access to my gateway.
PPCgeeks has a thread with an attachment of what is said to be Hamachi 2.0 for Win Mo. It's attached to this post. Link is here too (requires registration).
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/windows-mobile-software/109508-logmein-hamachi-mobile-beta.html
I emailed LMI as well. I don't have the gall to try install this - but am running out of options, so will probably do it.
What alternatives do I have ? Are there any good (Free) VPNs that work with WinMO that are relatively easy to configure.
URG!!

Transfer Files using Wifi + Android Name

Hi, i`ve been looking for a way to transfer files to the phone without using the USB cable.
I found: OnAir which does not work and SwiFTP which works but...
- i`m using Conectify to share my laptops internet connection. This in turn offers IP`s with DHCP.
Is there a way to name your phone to something fixed so that i can use it's name to connect?
If you have any other tips on how to do this, please feel free to let me know

on air does work fine on both 5.0.7 and froyo for me.
I suppose you're talking about Windows network. Is the phone rooted or not?
Non-rooted have no such option, but can use FTP. If you want to address it by a name - install DynDNS on the phone.
Rooted can change hostname to whatever you like (look up my thread about it in Development section - but it doesn't show on Windows network, since it's not NetBIOS name, it needs DNS server to be addressed) and/or install Samba+Netbios (look up Samba thread in Android General section, this one shows your phone as a computer on the Windows network with an SDCARD share, but it's a bit quirky - slows down when phone goes into sleep). Both things require interaction with O/S on a level of browsing system dirs, executing system commands and changing system text files. If you're not comfortable with it - I don't suggest trying.
I would just use ES File Explorer and pull the files from your Windows shares that you want rather than trying to go through all of the trouble to push a file to your phone.
Estrongs File Explorer does work very well browsing windows/smb shares over wifi. Astro can do this as well as an option for sftp for connecting to your linux box. As for a static IP you can do this manually from the wifi options in the phone. Or a nice app was made called WiFi Static, and is available free from the market.
A bit of a different choice, but Dropbox is free and can share files between any number of devices, in the cloud.
