Which ROM works best for Perk TV? - TouchPad Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Been running JCSullins CM11 ROM on my TP for a long time now. Pretty much just use my TP for Perk TV these days. However, CM11 doesn't work well with Perk. It get a black screen with infinite spinning indicator most of the time, and other times it'll play an ad and then just get stuck (frozen). Thinking to switch to anything else. Anyone have experience with other ROMs and Perk TV?

Multi-coloured screen when trying to play videos?

Hey guys.
I just bought me a Galaxy TAB, I've had it for about n hour, and having used android for a long time and currently using a Galaxy S II I pretty much flashed a ROM instantly.
All went good and what not, but when trying to play a video I get a multi-coloured screen, kind of like the old school tvs.
I hear audio but see nothing but all different fuzzy colours.
Anyone able to help me please?
EDIT: Ok, it's stopped it now? It's working normal. I flashed OverCome rom if it matters.

Playing on HDMI cable causes uber lagg

Hey, first I want to let you know the wonderful news that XBMC is available for android (at it is sweet). But I've noticed that when I hook up my USB to HDMI cable to my phone, the display screen gets lag. Plays fine on the phone, but the display on the screen is pretty bad. I'm running the latest holics and tried playing with CPU speeds, still no fix. If anyone knows what to do to get the lag to go away on the big screen, it would be helpful.

This is the first I am hearing of XMBC. Did a few quick Google searches to get some basic info and it sounds awesome, but I'm still left a little confused. If you have the time to walk me through how to set up some of this stuff, I would really appreciate it!

To flash, or not...

I searched around and found similar threads for other devices, but not for the HPTP, so I apologize if I missed it.
I've been considering flashing my Touchpad with an Android ROM (CM9) but, the more I think about it, I start to question the worth in doing so.
For starters, I have 2 active Android phones - a Captivate that I've rooted & ROM'd to hell & back, and a Galaxy S III that is stock because it's my work phone (I've also had the Fascinate & S II) - so I already have access to the Play market, and all the Touchpad would really offer is a larger viewing area. Plus, while the WebOS market is limited, there are a few apps that seem to be proprietary (TWiT HD, etc).
There's always the fun factor of doing something new, but the flip-side of that coin is the frustration that I know all-too-well from things that stop working with new releases, compatibility issues, etc.
Aside from a larger screen over my Android phones, and maybe some UI customization, is there much of a benefit to flashing CM9 or another ROM over WebOS?
Has anyone actually found that they prefer the latter?
Thanks for any insight!
there is no harm in doing it just for fun. it wont remove webos. when you boot up you still have the option of booting into webos. and if you dont like android on it, you can always revert everything back to how it was originally and just have webos.
i personally loved webos and the superior multitasking, but over time caved in and now mostly use android 99% of the time. especially after hp dropped all support of their previous webos devices with open webos. that really turned me off.
once you flash ics on it youll never ever ever ever boot into webos again. theres just no reason to ever again. webos is cool if you want to just browse the web and maybe look at pictures and watch movies. but not really useful for anything else.
Thanks, y'all
Sounds like you already might be convinced, but as nice as WebOS is (I became a big fan), I've only booted into it when having trouble. Try the latest CM nightly. The UI on CM9/10 is nice, but the apps you can get just blow away WebOS.
my question is, is there any reason not to? I mean you don't lose WebOS if you dual boot it, so you gain android and if all else fails you, you can still use webos

Invisiblek's 4.4 12-30-13 Nightly Impression

I can't post this on the Milaq thread (where most of the invisiblek discussion is) so I thought I would post it here to give anyone else a heads up.
The Good:
It's a fairly stable kernel and all my apps run seemingly just fine. I mean I've only been running it about 5 hours but not a single FC. I did have a weird bootup glitch that locked it up right away after install but after that I loaded all the apps just fine. Super exciting to see it so far!
The Bad:
Screen pixelation/tearing from left to right, especailly on grey backgrounds. Something is up with the video driver/gpu voltage. Certain icons like the Settings sprocket will have a few pixels that will flash and other times you'll see lines all the way across the screen. It might be color specific. I was playing Quadropus Rampage and never noticed it but then went back to the home screen or typing an e-mail and it's very much there.
Pandora plays music fine. If you turn off the screen while playing, horrific things happen like ZZZZZZZZZZZZ and then hard lock. I didn't like that station anyway..
The "OK Google" voice command doesn't seem to work though voice typing does. I'm pretty sure this worked on the Milaq build of the same date.
It's a bit slow and CPU is stuck to 1188. There is a bit of a lag switching apps but I don't notice any core functions slow.
The Different:
The home button doesn't wake up the TP. Only the power button.
Can't say anything about battery life quite yet but I'll keep a gander on it. Battery hasn't been a super concern of mine because I plug it in ever night
The Different:
The typical 15 second reset switch mult-button key is more like 3 seconds now. I like this a lot better.
Positive:
--backup and restore work
--it is getting much better.
Negatives:
--Microphone does not work, so I could not use any vioce search or voice dialer/sound recorder.
--Free game "F.S. Xtreme" has black box issue.
--Youtube still has reboot issue.
--TV streams app "syncbak" has similar reboot issue.
My wifi keeps shutting off and won't restart without reboot. Not even sleeping. Other than that it runs nicely.
Switched to milaq's 3.0 kernel.
The CPU is pre-configured to run at much higher 1.5Ghz, yet the 3.0 rom is still able to run very stable.
I am waiting for camera fix to enable video calls.
Since both 3.0/3.4 rom are using the same CWM, it makes 3.0/3.4 rom switch very easy.
Waiting on Flintmans as it is the only non data media rom. Not a big fan of all the repartitioning. For several reasons. Good to see choices still available. God bless the developers for all their time and effort. Wish I could do what they do.

I flashed 3.4 rom (0103) over 3.0, and tried briefly.
--3.4 rom seems running OK, except it runs relatively slower at 1.1Ghz.
--camera is not working on both 3.0/3.4 rom.
--Free game "F.S. Xtreme" seems not compatible with 3.x kernel. It also cannot run on Samsung S3.

Still does it. Did that soon as rom booted as per the Op.

Same here. Also double check that the setting took. I swear I unchecked it and it went back or didn't take the first time. Perhaps give it a toggle or two. I also noticed that if wifi turns off, it won't turn back on.
Anyone else having a problem with rebooting from within CM and it just goes to a blank screen?
Dirty flashed to the 1/5 nigthly. Reboot issues seems gone now, or just that a reflash has fixed mine specifically.
Just noticed that there is an official thread over at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2592909
Hopefully I can post there too!

Negative on the posting. I'm still seeing the bzzzz when the screen shuts off while playing music. Have disabled the mic (I think). Curious that nobody on that thread has reported that quite yet.
I'm very excited to see all of this development on our old TPs! I'm currently running Milaq's latest 3.0 kernel test build. It is running almost perfectly for me! I cannot wait for 3.4 to finish getting smoothed out. I've tried Invisiblek's builds out, and they currently seem a little laggy compared to Milaq's 3.0 test build. Great work all around though! Thanks to Invisiblek, Flintman, Milaq, JCSullins, Dorregary, and all of the others that I haven't mentioned who have contributed so much of their time and skill toward keeping our Touchpads relevant, even competitive with the current crop of tablets on the market!

What is the best rom/kernel for my Soho-PVT-Prod-07?

Hi!
I just installed twrp/unlock on my fire tablet.
Then i tried the nexus rom but it really didn´t work well. No camera app installed, weird overall and then i noticed it doesnt have video playback.
I want to use the tablet mainly to consume amazon and from my nas.
Is there a rom that works 100%? I read about cm11 being pretty good, but it is all old stuff and cm is dead so maybe there is better things right now?
Then i read about oc kernel, i want to do that and get fast charging too. Is there one that has it both?
I can see myself staying with the stock fireOS if there is nothing else working 100%(cast screen, amazon video...), i guess getting rid of the lockscreen with ads isnt that hard?
I am open for any tweaking, i got my fastboot cable back so i can do risky stuff np, it´s a toy device afterall
