Instal nexus rom on Huawei p7, is that possible. - Huawei Ascend P7

Hello,
Before i want to ask a question i want to tell this. 1 week ago i had a nexus 4 with android 7.0 on it. unfortunately the screen cracked and the whole touch screen is not working anymore. Now i have a Huawei p7 and i want to instal a nexus rom on it. So i want to completely remove the EMUI from the system and instal the Nexus rom and make it like a NEXUS 4 phone.
So my question is, is it possible to instal a micro android 7.0 nexus rom on the HUAWEI P7 (Turn HUAWEI in a NEXUS phone)? Because i don't like the interface of this phone. and the EMUI is a bit laggy.
Thanks,

Hi,
Unfortunately, there is no way you can flash other roms that are meant for another phone. It's just not how it works; the only rom you can flash is the ones MEANT for the P7. DO NOT flash any other roms on it. It will hardbrick your device. Other phones have other partitions, and if you flash over the wrong partitions then you're basically f*cked. No way of fixing that unless you swap the mobo.
Fortunately, my girlfriend has the P7, and I'm planning to port CM for this device, but I can't test anything because it's just not my risk to take (yet).
EDIT: If you really want to use your Nexus 4, you can head to your local repair shop, they'll replace your touchscreen for about 40€. If you don't have any repair shops near you, you could try to replace it yourself. But I advise you to buy the new screen with the LCD, because gluing the screen with the UV glue is pretty hard. Just search for "Nexus 4 digitizer and lcd" on the internet, and you'll get a pretty decent price. (and also removing the old touchscreen part is really tricky).

Are there any other CM based roms available for p7?
I can't find any on xda. Or maybe I am not looking in right places.

Hey bro does any custom mod published yet for p7...

You are at the right forum, so search, it's not that hard
But here http://forum.xda-developers.com/ascend-p7/development

I can't say if anything works out because this device is a total ghost, only kernel source available and no other device uses that chip. I will try to search for more information and maybe actually find a way.

How good is this phone? Is it worth going for this at this stage?

need some ques for firsthand users...is it laggy or smooth...hearing a lot of complaints about it...
go ahead, best phone at this price
There are touch issues with many of them, mine had also gone back to the service centre for touch repairs. Careful where you buy it from, you might not get warranty option
regret, i brought it based on its excellent specifications.
worst phone i ever had (china version).
better to buy xiaomi than lenovo, better of the worst.

what happened with your phone? the phone was pretty good in my opinion, did everything so well, i wish the camera was better but for the price its good. I only started the have touch issues after i dropped it from about 1.5m on concrete. I had the indian version but they are identical with different names and boxes
This phone is good..
If this phone is not good then xda won't let it have its own forum..
All those developers don't develope their rom or
They don't give all those supports..
For me its awesome..
You want the truth? Here you go!
I'm an end user of this phone myself and it is literally the worst phone I had ever experience because of this Phone I had to learn how to root and install custom recovery which I never done before in quite a while on the get-go. Not to mention that I had to learn about Xposed because it lacks customisation options. The Official OS sucks the worst trully! I prefer Nexus ROM by Dr. Root better. Specs are ok for the price and if you use Nexus Custom ROM as mentioned previously you will have a lot of free space for RAM. If you are a normal end consumer who wants it easy either look for another phone OR buy an iPhone, but if you have interest in technology and wants to customise your software, look no further this is by far the best cheap phone I used so far.
Here are the MUST you need:
1) Interest in android
2) Tech Savvy
3) Learn to root in anyway possible i.e. One-click root, SP Flash tool and/or adb fastboot
4) Learn more about Xposed framework
5) Learn to flash custom recovery using mobile uncle (or anything similar), SP Flash Tool and/or adb fastboot
Optional but very effective that you don't need the previos 5
6) Have a friend that can do number 1-5.
Once a gain and I quote "If you are a normal end consumer who wants it easy either look for another phone OR buy an iPhone, but if you have interest in technology and wants to customise your software, look no further this is by far the best cheap phone I used so far.". The Official ROM is full of bloatware that hogs your RAM thus choosing a Custom ROM is compulsory.

No mate, you didnt have to learn it, you chose to do this yourself, you couldve simply used a stock launcher, but you didnt, you had youtube reviews showing it all, but you ignored that and still purchased the phone. The stock one isnt bad and the stock OS does not suck so dont go ahead blaming it because you didnt like it and made poor decisions.

if someone is looking at buying this phone, why would they opt for an iphone which is 5 times the price?
OP its all about preference, if you have a price range and cant go higher, go for this phone, keep in mind, it has no app drawer, but you get used to it, also if you want an app drawer or stock feel, you can always install a launcher like google launcher or nova. This phone is very good for its price and i would highly recommend it, just be warned about the touch issues many users are facing
stock OS is one of the biggest sh*t (chinese version).
the moment it is connected, if u r lucky using wifi, otherwise data connection cost money wasted on all the bloated malwares downloaded.
worst of all, lenovo game center, apps/games applicable to china only.
if it is ROW (Rest-Of-the-World) maybe better, no gapps for chinese version.
local radio (ota) cut-off every 15 minutes.
speaker too small and soft, always missed call in my pocket.
heat up every fast.
everything in chinese widgets/themes/fonts...........
weather only in china cities......
lists continue....unable to uninstall bloatware, some unable to disable............
block all bloatwares permission to data connection/wifi/auto-start run/background-run still some able to auto-run............
how good can stock os be?
nonsense, it is so bad, tats why custom roms are put up on xda......
ps;
since i had this phone, there r several major updates (chinese version) in just a few months. this will never happens to any phone makers, reasons is very simply....too many sh*tty problems.
op if u r not tech savvy or know basic linux commands, get yourself a xiaomi. at least they provide google installation apps, world-wide recognitions (not limited to regions eg. china, india, russia) and lesser problems from the go-start.
pss;
i had to use Mediatek engineering mode app to boost volume level, risk damaging to the phone speaker or my expensive head-set.
psss;
one last sh*t from lenovo.......install lenovo usb driver......it will load chinese malwares.
pssss;
i promise this will be the last of my sh*t......ROW (Rest-Of-the-World) does not means the WORLD, it meant for india and russia. if u live in these countries, its ok to buy.

I never think it was a mistake, for me. It was good that I purchase the phone with faulty ROM since I get to learn anything and everything about android. It's a win for me since the specs ain't bad.
Buy it if you want some adventure with android.
one of the Best community for a mid-range phone.
I learned a lot of things by using this phone.
From flashing custom ROMs, using SPFlash Tools(Really helpful, helped many of my friends to recover from bricking.)
I suggest you to buy this phone.

[Q] Ebay no longer work on android 4.0.4

Ebay App no longer work on android 4.0.4, I haven't updated Android because if it work why fix it...
I have alway used ebay on my Mobile phone, but till Monday all I get is update E-bay then when I do I am told
that Android 4.0.4 is no longer compatible.... your making waves on calm waters
Is there any App work around for this problem, I have had to use a webpage shortcut to my home screen.......
thank you
Update your phone
Hi @Exorcist74,
I'm with you, generally on this... if it aint broke, dont fix it. That said, most of the more updated roms are rather mature on our device now. And anything is an improvement over ICS 4.0.4. Even if ya only go upto KitKat on 4.4.4
That said, there is only 2x outcomes with this....
Downgrade the App via APKMirror and look for an older version of the App, before it refuses to run on ICS 4.0.4. And if the nag is Server side, and not built into the App...
... Then ya either gonna have to upgrade the OS on our Note... or find another device?
Hope that helps, Lister
Thanks Lister Of Smeg,
fearmongering sell's that is the bottom line..
I'm not spending large amount of money for the sake of a free app
nor take the chance of Bricking for the same app
I have been thinking of updating my android (Galaxy Note N70000 with Brickbug) but every time I research the Rom it always end up defective in some way or other, so back to why fix it if its not broken...
Thanks again Lister for the good advice...

Unfortunately, some important apps, like Amazon Kindle, were not working anymore for me as well. I did update my android system, and in case you're willing to try the updating route, I can testify that retired developer bauner has made a fantastic job on our good old N7000. I installed Phil's recovery, then installed his 7.1 (!) rom and the appropriate gapps, and I am very satisfied with the result so far. He also made and maintained 5.X and 6.X versions which are maybe even safer. He's bravely fighting planned obsolescence, and competently so. I did have to resize my partitions following his guide so that there would be enough space for the upgraded OS before installing it.
I find that it's also easy to find parts for the phone at a very cheap price on aliexpress, so I see no reason why I should stop using it in the next few years.

is anyone aware of any developers who are on their way to getting this phone

I only ask the above because we have one unofficial ROM and zero modified stock ROMs and nothing to flash in case of emergencies, it's off putting for me to modify anything as I've nothing on my memory to flash should I need it.
Not being needy, just concerned that this flagship isn't getting the treatment it deserves
Well there's reasons for that. Phone just came out not long ago, not released in the US, and in a strange move Huawei have said in two months bootloader unlocking won't officially be supported basically killing development for this phone unfortunately. I wouldn't expect any major developers moving their ROM's to us.

Still find it odd, firstly with every flagship I've had and as you can see from my signature ( if you're viewing this on a pc ) I've had quite a few.
I have never once seen, after over a months release only one non official ROM available for a phone, the Sony z1 and the note 4 being the worst amongst every device I've had, the OnePlus and the HTC sensation being the best with the most.
Secondly there is a huge chance that Huawei will overturn their decision to allow bootloader unlocking, not only that but id have imagined that with today's developers whether or not Huawei allows unlocking, we would still have a hack around it S-Off for HTC devices springs to mind.
The US not being involved is a loss but at the same time, some of the best developers I've had the chance to communicate with here on XDA have been from all over the world, not too many from the US iirc so I'm not buying that.
I'm not bashing here but just a little concerned that not a single ROM had been released, I think it's a terribly sign for such a device to have nothing.
I've even been looking into making my own ROM myself, will know over the next few weeks if I can make that a reality or not, but as it stands I don't even have a starting base and the difference between devices unless debranded is quite stark and would probably end up bricking devices.
Such a shame, I sincerely hope it changes but I'm holding less and less hope as time goes on.
PS: I'm not sure but wasn't treble meant to be able to be used on this device too??
There are plenty of treble based ROMs and most of them should work fine.: https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble
Just flash them via TWRP. Otherwise Huawei phones have traditionally never had much independent ROM development.

Oh mate??? You might have just become my hero, I know literally nothing about project treble other than the fact that it may help with ROM flashing, but again have never done it..
Coming from the OnePlus 5 I never needed it.
Have you flashed any treble ROMs on this device ?
If you don't mind can I just ask.
If I flash something, how can I get back to my normal ROM if it becomes unbootable?
Update: @mrabcx
I tried to install a treble ROM, made a nand back up first and it failed to boot, restored nand and it's now back up and running.
I think we need a treble compatible twrp, does it even exist for the p20 pro??
I don't have P20 myself so can't answer that, but the phone is very similar to other Huawei phones such as Mate 10 and should in theory be able to boot Treble ROMs. I guess there could be some issues with clearing cache/wiping data etc. If you can post the details in the Treble ROM sections then I'm sure someone there will be able to help you out.

Yep I was under that impression myself, then I tried every single ROM there is in the treble section, not a single one booted.
Not only that but everyone there is trying to get it working on their phones so no one really cares for anyone else.
Not good.
Tried via fastboot as our twrp doesn't work.
Tried via twrp and the sand issue.

Can I install a fresh or stock Android on Note 8? I don't need any apps from Samsung

Hi all,
I am a long time IOS user, I usually buy the new Note every year because I love it's design, I feel like it made for me, but also usually I use it for maximum 1 week and sell it, I am sorry but really I hate the Android which made by Samsung.
My question is, can I use the note 8 like a Windows PC or laptop? when a new version of windows released I download it and install it on my PC, Can I install a clean, original, pure, not edited and up to date Android on my Note 8? before you say anything about Samsung's features, I don't want them, I need the Note 8 design on a clean Android.
I searched a lot on Google but I could't find an answer so I hope someone can help me here.
My Note 8 model is SM-N950F /DS

To my knowledge Exynos source code isn't fully released, and Snapdragons lock the bootloader. That explains why there's less AOSP development (or none). You can check the rom threads for what's available, but they might not suit your needs.

The custom roms are made by devs, not Google. "Pure" Android firmware is made by Google but you can't flash those firmwares on a Samsung device (just like you can't flash Samsung firmware on Google phones, LG phones, etc.). AOSP custom roms will give you the pure vanilla experience on Samsung, but there hasn't been much (or maybe anything) like that here, for the reasons I mentioned in my previous post.
Take a look at what's available in the rom threads... The more active ones tend to have many posts and recognized devs. Either way I've never had a custom rom that contained malware, etc., but root in itself means less security than stock. Of course read up and ask questions if you have any doubt about something along the way (but search first though lol)

LineageOS?

I haven't seen much work done on ASUS phones for LineageOS ROM releases. I particularly couldn't find a ROM for the first ROG Phone. Now, after much waiting, the ROG Phone II is available. What needs to be done in order to be able to flash the ASUS ROG Phone II with a custom ROM?
I would like to upgrade my phone, but doing it without an alternative to the default OS is a no-go, for me.

Nope. Asus doesn't send out units to devs, like other companies do. If they did, we probably would have many roms.

I do have a person who could 100% get lineage on it, but we would need to him a device.
TBH, I'm a custom rom flasher too! BUT, there's so many options to customize ROG II that I don't feel the need to flash other roms - for now at least...
Also note, we have air triggers which make the rom even harder to code...

My point, is Google should make a phone like this. New pixel 4 6gb ram...2.0ufs, and 64gb storage. What a joke
So, I don't really care about the accessories. If I could just get an /e/ or LineageOS port, I'm satisfied with just having the powerful hardware. I've thought long and hard about it, but there's just absolutely no way I'd run a phone with its default OS.
If I could afford it, I'd certainly try to see what I could do about getting another one, but I'd feel awkward about not having any guarantees.
Is there no way I could get a walkthrough for how I can accomplish this custom ROM on my own?
Right now, there's no ROM development going for this device. Still you (developers) can build ROMs because this device has stock vendor source which can be used with any customized System OS.
There's also unofficial TWRP for which you can use it to modify the stock ROG 2 system as your liking. Like disabling & removing system bloat apps, flashing Magisk root, using Edxposed framework & GravityBox, etc.
ROM development has halted because devs dont want to waste their time working on Android 9 when ASUS has been beta testing Android 10 when developers received their phones. They are waiting for Android 10 kernel source code.
You can see this by checking their GitHubs, LineageOS was in development 3 weeks ago, its up to ASUS to finish their update first.

That is the general idea.
So your are not prepared to put your money where your month was ( Google should have made this phone) then just chill and enjoy until. I mean whats the point of moaning about something someone hasn't not done, when you can not do it yourself.
From my opinion the system comes with the phone is good enough because it provides the stock android option. Especially the android q updated recently.
