Bubblepnp and sidebyside player. Might also need Gear VR pro to stop oculus auto loading

I would also be interested in this. Also... There are other apps that stream like show box or MovieHD... How could we watch videos from these?

Showbox content can be downloaded and transfered to another folder to access in Oculus video. Thats the only way I've found.

That's how i do it also, but it would be great to be able to watch without downloading

Yes, kodi can be configured for VR, there are alot of youtube videos showing how to set it up. Used it yesterday. Just takes practice. You will also need a Bluetooth controller. Good luck.

Guys. Just use MilkVr Launcher. + Emby Server. It let's you watch any movie (including 3D) through wifi network. For me It works fine.
https://github.com/heavykick/MilkVRLauncher/releases
I was testing kodi but for me MilkVr Launcher > Kodi in terms of usage and performance.

Can you describe it better? Milkvr asks me about some link. What link does it need?
Why do I need to install embe if Kodi exposes itself as DLNA server?

Buy a cheap bluetooth control pad off ebay to use as a mouse. Then get Cardboard Enabler from the play store or search online to disable oculus from auto starting on connection. Problem solved

MilkVr creates link inside of MilkVR folder so application thinks that film is inside folder.
Just follow the description on the github site it is very easy to do it and believe me. I have tried around 10+ solutions to watch videos on gear vr and in case of image quality nothing matches Milkvr.
If you have problems contact me on hangouts([email protected]) we can speak in Polish about it, will be much easier

Hi
of course you can use any DLNA-Server. You can also use a NAS or the Windows-DLNA ...
What does MilkVRLauncher do?
It forwards links to SamsungVR (was named MilkVR before) and that's it. So when you have a link to a video source you can start MilkVRLauncher and paste the link to forward it to SamsungVR.
But often you don't have the link to the video source, because Android internals pass the link to your VLC or VideoPlayer or may be to a download manager.
When Android does find more then one app that can take care about the link it will ask you which app to use, and this I did use because android knows that MilkVRLauncher can handle VideoLinks.
And this is the second way to get the link for the video source into my app. The most common way!
What's now about DLNA?
There is no DLAN client in the MilkVR launcher itself. But there a DLNA "Browsers" for Android available. Browsers that will pass the link to the video source to android, where android does ask you witch video player you want to use. And there we are!
Usable DLNA apps for Android are AnDLNA or BubbleUpnP ...
And why Emby?
If you don't have a NAS and want to use a media server this is one like each other. I did use it in the beginning, because you can use the Emby android app and chose external player where you can pick the milkVRLauncher.
And yes, you can also use links from internet pages and stream direct from the internet. But often the links on homepages are not direct links and we need direct links, because milkVrLauncher does not follow forwards
Any further questions? Just ask me!
you can download my app from GitHub.
The app is free and open source and everybody who want can join and help to make the app better.
You can also support me via
Greetings,

With a USA IP from a VPN service , you coud install an app called Samsung Phone Cast. With this app, you coud use any app installed on your phone. This app is avaible on Oculus store, but only on USA users.

Direct streaming from vimeo to chromecast

Direct streaming to Chromecast without using the tab mirror option
1) First find you favorite vimeo URL
for example: I choose this http://vimeo.com/69627704
2) Go to http://keepvid.com/ (This service and other like it can resolve URL from other video site too, not just vimeo)
3) paste in the vimeo address and hit download. You will be presented with 2 links obviously choose the 720p one if possible. Right click on it and copy url it should be something really long like this http://pdl.vimeocdn.com/18706/952/1...n=1375283992_18627ba2bd4d1204fdaacfc695607cc9
4) go to http://googlecast.github.io/cast-chrome/ (I take no credit for this site whomever did it was great)
5) Drop down activity type to HTML5 video play back and paste in the really long URL
6) Hit play (the video should play now, but ignore it and scroll down fast)
7) YOU have to scroll down fast to the bottom on the page and hit the name of your chromecast fast (then your TV will go black screen for a bit seems like a long time 5 secs, then it should play on your TV).
I believe this method work with other video service too as long as you can get their true URL, basically you just need an mp4 file or something URL
Vimeo is already working on an app. It appears that once the SDK goes out of preview there will be a whole glut of casting apps.
Just found the method to work with putlocker as well. When playing putlocker video, to the bottom right it allow you to "download" the video, I just right click and copy the link and past it directly to step 4 above. And it works
I combined http://googlecast.github.io/cast-chrome/ with an apache instance on my macbook air to natively stream an .mp4 to the chromecast, no transcoding or webrtc.
Can the video be paused / resumed?

even 720 tab casting is good with my setup but for some reason i couldn't get OP solution to work smooth enough. it pauses rather than stutters.

Yep there is a set of control at the bottom when you click on the chromecast to activate it. You can pause stop volume... I been having good luck with multiple video providers... Best of luck to all until we can get official support. The trick is all about the true url of the streaming video and the github website still wondering who made that site. I am trying to study the code, but I am not white listed so it is limited

sort of off topic question:
does it cast the highest resolution available when used natively? for example youtube, does it send 1080 when the video is available in 720 and 1080? i hope they would offer more bitrate/resolution settings in the future.

From what I see, as long as your source from Internet has 1080p then yeah. This is direct streaming, so it work like those YouTube 1080p video directly to Chromecast. However I think you would need pretty good Internet for that. I always have trouble with smooth 1080p streaming even on computer.

No, it doesn't work any more. Google disabled all of these unofficial casting apps by introducing a "whitelist" of allowed apps in their August firmware update. That's one of the reasons why we've dubbed it the Google CrippledCast in our house.

...and @Kyonz developed KyoCast to have a custom whitelist, and Team Eureka released Eureka-ROM which lets you use Google's whitelist, Team Eureka's whitelist (which allows things like AllCast, fling and a few other third-party apps), or a completely custom list of your own.
Of course all of that requires root, which isn't possible for newer Chromecasts...
you can use curl to play video directly on chromecast
If you have whitelisted device (via Kyocast/ EurekaROM) you can play supported video formats using curl directly to chromecast.
curl -H "Content-Type: application/json" http://<your_chromecast_ipaddress>:8008/apps/Fling -X POST -d "<your_video_link>"
where <your_video_link> is the video link from internet.
<your_chromecast_ipaddress> is the ip address of your chromecast
Still no direct Chromecast support in the Vimeo player, but if you have Plex, the Vimeo channel in Plex works with the Chromecast.

Sorry that should have read Orbot (my spell checker changed it). Its basically an app that allows you to connect to a proxy. In order to use it download it run it go into settings and change the last exit node and enter:
{us}
This tricks the real player install into thinking you're in the US and should allow you to get it working. But to be honest as soon as I discovered Avia I gave up on real player. Real player at the time was only allowing you to cast stuff for a limited period of time, not sure if this is still the case? Oh and I think Orbot is pretty useless unless your rooted.

I suppose it is not as convenient, but you can always download the content from your pc to cast it directly from your phone with Plex. But it is a different solution, i have all of my content stored on my pc, so i use my phone only as a remote. Hope Avia adds the function to play subtitles.

One stop A/V app ...
Set it up with your TV provider and it has the full TV schedule on your tablet. It provides a nice set of universal remote control options for controlling your A/V setup. Once you get the remote setup, then you can choose your channel from the TV guide with the IR.
It also has a very robust setup for watching videos, searching videos, watching movies and trailers, etc. It will show what movies are on other services and launch them if you choose to watch (Free crunchyroll, etc)
I cant find .apk, for edit, where folder locate?

How to mirror my android phone screen to my tablet or TV box?

Hi there
like the title of this thread,
i want an application wich allow me to Mirror my android phone screen to another android tablet or tv box
i search on the Play store but i don't find what i need.
so can anyone help me !!!
regards
Samsung devices can do this via SideSync. I went out of my way to get a phone and tablet so I could use the mirror/remote call/file transfer functionality. Recently LG copied this, so if you have an LG phone and tablet you may also be in luck.
You should probably check the list of devices that support the Chromecast, or consider MHL for output of your phone to a television via an adapter cable.

After long search i think that it's not possible to mirror All the screen of the phone to another android device beacause
it's should be a protocol like ,DLNA or Miracast ... wich is possible with a dongle wifi display.
but i found two applications wich allow us to share content between devices:
1_ the first aplication is Screenshare:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.springdesign.screenshare.browser.server
2_The seconde application is EZcast screeen
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.actionsmicro.ezcastrx
you can watch the video to know how it works
If both devices are rooted you can get full Chromecast functionality (well, mostly. a few things like Netflix don't and likely will never work) using the Cast receiver port that's on this board along with the Xposed module to disable the signature date check on the device that's sending the Cast, works for me.
Thank you but i don't understand very well
can you please explain what shoul i do step by step?
Regards
I can recommend to use my app Screen Stream Mirroring  , here is the free version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobzapp.screenstream.trial
I recommend it not only because I am the developer, but because the app was initially made for this.
You can use VLC for Android as receiver or any other RTSP player.
I will also release very soon a player for Android with good additional features.
Just ask if you have any question.
How it works?? there is no instructions!
please explain step by step what i should do?
Download allcast receiver to your tablet and allcast to your phone.
vnc method (root)
Try droid vnc server from the play store(this requires root access) on the device you want to mirror and get a vnc viewer on the device that you want to connect to the vnc server and this will mirror your screen

search yueye and download two apps called limitless remote and limitless server. The server app will host a server so every devices on the same Lan can pair up with, but you need to root your server device or the display will be blank, the client device which is the controlling side do not require rooting. You can also download a limitless.zip from the original website to install it in any window os, you can even remote control your pc when you host a server there

If you have a quite recent Android version it should use hardware encoding so you should be able to stream any game... up to 60fps since Android 4.4.
You can check in app preferences if hardware encoding is enabled.

I was going to try your app, but the reviews on Playstore are dismal. Possibly the most negative reviews I've ever seen for an app. So I won't bother, because as in most apps, there are dozens more.
You really should consider trashing the app, fixing it (apparently you have an insane number of ads in the free version) and re-releasing it under a different title. Word of mouth, or in this case, thumbs is everything in the dev world.

Google play movies? YouTube app?

I got movies purchased from Google play, can I view them through the gear vr? Is the YouTube app available also on the gear vr?
Lol im pretty sure people owning the VR have seen this thread, funny no one has dared to answer a simple question. Weak community.
no
the cinema app can play local mp4 files though.
Well at least you took the time to reply, I appreciate it. I have heard that mp4s can be played but the thing is that all my movies are purchased from the Google play store and the format is very weird
No youtube app for gear vr but there is youtube in google carboard app. you can also use little walk around. Use tubemate to download any youtube video straight to phone and play it using oculus cinema app in gear vr.

Sadly it appears Oculus/Samsung appear to be gating any app that can do web browsing / stream since they want to control the content (to some extent). Most consumers will not transfer movies for playback and will simply use the streaming function of the Oculus apps. Again I hope I am wrong, but their IMO lame excuse for no web browser (it would require full Oculus integration) as example is false. Homido has a very good web browser that streams content from any web source and works great with the iPhone- ironic. Homido did say they were working on an Android Cardboard version, but can not for Oculus.
The stock 2D web browser using voice and the touch pad for mouse function would allow any streaming content from the web a consumer wants. This is something that Oculus appears to not want, but ironically works great on the iPhone. for streaming. Fulldive has a Cardboard browser, but the streaming is audio with a black screen.

It is not integrated though, so have to remove the phone, pick a vid, place phone back in VR unit and place the set back on. That seems a pain in a$$ to me. Not so bad for a 90 minute movie if having to, but
a true pain for short vids like Youtube. The app only works with 360 vids and not 2D.
Cmoar Cinema Pro has Youtube, but no account access.
Idk for the lack of ability for me to play the Google play movies I won't buy this product. Saw alot of potential but didn't really got my attention. I bought me a 60 inch led Sony TV instead with roku loaded ?
also been wanting one. i heard in a thread that there was this widget that allowed you to play cardboard apps on the phone with gear VR.
we need to break this format. this is rediculous. we should be able to watch any of our content on this device with NO problem. I dont understand why this device does not perfrom as advertised. Someone smart needs to hack this **** and let us all download it.
There is a way to run Youtube app on Gear VR
You need install a tool on Google Play, it named "Play Cardboard apps on Gear VR" (of [KunKunSoft]), run this tool and switch to "Cardboard mode"
After that, Install "Cardboard" (of [Google Inc]) app on Google Play, run "Cardboard" app and you will see "360 Video Chanel" app, it is "Youtube VR", run it and enjoy!
Hope this can help!
if u want to stream movies in vr just use HD movies app download it for free and move it to sd card and hit the vr video
or use the samsung gallery on vr if ur lazy to transfer to sd card downloaded videos
Samsung Internet is your best bet.. Works great for me.. https://www.samsungmobilepress.com/2015/12/02/Samsung-Launches-Optimized-Web-Browser-for-Gear-VR
NOMone VR Browser
I don't know about movies downloaded from Google Play, but in NOMone VR Browser you can watch youtube without any problems (not 360 degree, though). You can use it with a keyboard and a mouse or using earphones. To have the best experience:
- Check "Request desktop site".
- Goto the youtube video you want to watch.
- From the options at the bottom-right corner of the viewer, choose "Theater mode". Now press fullscreen.
I'm one of the developers of this app by the way. The application still has a long way to go, but we intend to achieve a 100% integrated solution by version 1.0 if Allah wills. If you have any comments of feature requests, don't hesitate to reach out for us. But we don't check xda very frequently. On the other hand, we are very active on our facebook page (nomonesoftware).
