Dear community,
in this guide I show you how I use Nougat as secondary on the hammerhead,
covering the following things:
Install Nougat as secondary in multiROM
Enable build-in features including root
Adblocker
Google Pixel Launcher
Viper4Android
DoubleTap2Wake with 5min timeout
Screen-Brightness-Dimmer
STEP 0: Requirements:
Installed multiROM (+multiROMrecovery)
A primary rom with kexec patch
STEP 1: Downloads with credits:
Here are all non-playstore links in one place with propper credits (i hope)
ROM - (Thread) by @bokbokan
Gapps Choose: ARM | 7.0 | nano -> Red download-button
Adblocker - (Thread) by @BSDgeek_Jake
PixelLauncher | mirror - by @LlabTooFeR (Post)
Viper4Android - modded by @guitardedhero (Original-Thread)
Kernel (take the newest) | (Thread) by @eng.stk
Wifi_fix after Kernel-flash by @yyz71 (Post)
SELinuxModeChanger (Thread) by @MrBIMC
STEP 2: Installing Nougat
Reboot to recovery
MultiROM -> ADD ROM -> NEXT -> ZIP FILE
select downloaded ROM.zip -> Swipe to Confirm
Wait and ignore the 2 errors "E:unknown command [log]"
press BACK
Click on "aosp-7.0-2016****-bokrom-..."
FLASH ZIP -> select gapps.zip -> swipe to confirm
FLASH ZIP -> PixelLauncher.zip -> swipe to confirm
FLASH ZIP -> Adblocker.zip -> swipe to confirm
Reboot into the new rom (give it a bit time)
Complete initial setup, and enjoy the Nougat
STEP 3: Enabling built-in hidden features
Developer-options
Goto Settings
Scroll down to the bottom
click on "about phone"
Tap 7 times on "Build number"
SystemUI-Tuner
Pull down the statusbar
swipe down again to reach the quicksettings-buttons
locate the gear-symbol at the topper-right corner for settings (DONT CLICK)
Hold that icon for at least 7 secs
Root
Goto Settings
Security
root->enable Apps (and adb if you want)
Please also do:
Settings->Security->Enable unknown sources->confirm
Settings->Display->DISable "adaptive display" and "inactive display"
STEP 4: Installing Essentials
First download and install them all, but dont open them.
SuperSU by Chainfire
Busybox by Stericson
MultiROM by Tassadar

optional: SUPER nice feature: reduce minimal screen brightness. is awesome at night
Left Menu->Screen->scroll down to the bottom-> Set minimal brightness to "1" NOT "0" !!!!
optional: SUPER nice feature: DoubleTap2Wake, but wait battery drain - np set to 5 min timeout.

Hint: All these settings take effect 10 secs after boot is complete. you can disable the notification in the settings of kernel auditor
STEP 8: Enjoy the Nougat
I hope you like this guide. If many people find this helpful, I will create a Part II:
Extend funcionality
Add custom quicktiles (ie. adblocktoggler)
Add soft-power-button
Workaround quickpulldown
Theme it using substratum
...
Cheers
Blade
P.S.: This is my first "big" Thread here, so please tell me if I break any rules. My only intention here is to give something back while hoping this could be useful to someone.
Also I wanted to say clearly: I did not develop anything here I wrote about. This is just a user-2-user guide, because many people reaches me via pm about multirom and nougat
Special thanks to @bokbokan for making all this possible with his multirom-friendly version of nougat!

Hi @blade. Thanks for this awesome Work
Can you share the screenshots of battery life and SOT ?
How is overall performance and battery with this ROM and What about Bugs ?

Hey, thank you very much.
Since im a flash-a-holic with multiROM, its kinda difficult to a clean, overview.
I will do a clean record staying on one ROM for some days and post new pics.
But here are some screens.
My SOT is between 4 and 6 hours at the moment.
Overall performance seems to me better than marshmallow. (definitly not worse)
Bugs:
1) Setting a custom icon for a custom button on the navbar via systemui-tuner gets invisible after reboot. (restarting systemui fixes it, in Part II of my guide i show you how to automate this)
2) Some theming-problems, with substratum. (teal-user-icon and powermenu not themeable - restart submenu works)
Cheers
Blade

Great thread! Question: whats the theme you use? The white/copper one. Thanks.

I dont think it works.
Magisk on secondary should be the same pain in the a** as SuperSU systemless.
Both require boot.img modifications, and I dont have any good test results for modifing bood.img on a secondary slot.
But I would love to test that whole world

Thanks for the great guide!
I learned that the rom can be installed without MultiROM but the extra zips will not install properly. I installed MultiROM, installed this rom as secondary, and the other zips flashed properly. Lesson learned: Follow the instructions.
The Viper4Android app isn't installed when I flash the provided zip. I followed the directions carefully. How can I get this to work? Thanks!
Edit: I've realized that neither the adblock, Google Now Launcher or Viper have installed properly. What is going on?!

Could i add some suggestions, on top of all of that flash the latest Adreno Graphics drivers, and use the "son of Sammy v4" color calibration profile for your screen, it emulates super AMOLED displays and really makes colors pop.

Hello @BIade !
As promised, I created an account here on xda, and I must admit, this community is AWESOME
Could you please tell me, how you added your own buttons in the quicksettings??
Please I really want that too
And before I forget: Thank you very much for all the help till now...

Hey mate,
You need:
1) Tasker (free trail)
2) AutoNotification
After installing, you will see 20 new tiles, if you go to the edit tiles section.
AutoNotification's Settings-page lets you hide specific tiles, if you want.
In tasker you can configure the actions, labels, icons, and states. If you need any help, just ask
btw. Welcome to xda - finally

Hey mate, sorry for my late response.
This guide is for nexus 5 hammerhead, and I dont know how N6P works...
i.e. a friend of mine has got a LG G3 (d855) and multiROM was a bit messy with bumping, kexec also needed on secondary, etc.
So before you get wrong informations, I would recommend asking in the N6P-Thread.
Cheers
Blade

no worries mate.. thanks for your reply.
I actually tried, didnt work. I believe the two versions of android (6.0 and 7.0) requiring different vendor images causes an issue.

** As i don't have HTC Legend anymore, i won't be able to port and share any ROM for Legend anymore. So, anyone are welcome to kang, modified, enhance or whatever you like to this ROM. Just make sure you give appropriate credits ESPECIALLY to the creator of ROM based that i ported over. Best Regards. **

Introduction
Dear fellow xda members,
Few months back when i gave my Xperia Mini Pro to my girlfriend and bought HTC Legend for myself, i'm a bit disappointed to see there are just a few choices of ROM for this device. But now, we have more flavors of ROM. Now, i'm going to share one more ROM which also one of the ROM that i'm dying to see to be able to run in our device (apart from miuiv4), which is AOKP.
This ROM is my personal ROM, stable and faster than MIUIv4 with much more customization and usefull options than CM9. I have tested it for several days with a very heavy usage and i'm very happy on how it served me. However, i don't dare to claim it is the one for everyone. If you like it, then i'm happy for you. If you hate it, you can leave it. If you can help me and the others on getting it more better, then you are more than welcome. Please don't PM me for any patches/mod/bug fixes etc that you made for it but instead, PLEASE POST IT HERE so that i can link your post to the credits section which to ensure that any contribution you made will be recognized.

Hints/Tips
Press power+vol down together for few moments to take screenshots immediately.
Long press on the "settings icon" in notification to go to settings. Long press on the toggle button to go to the corresponding setting page.
Go to Settings -> ROM Control -> Tools -> Start-up tweaks, tick on the box to enable it and choose any tweaks you want to be started on boot by ticking on the corresponding boxes (enable sysctl and recommended and enable SD Boost is not recommended as i didn't test it much, unless you know what you do and choose the correct setting. Even without the SD Boost enabled, the ROM already very smooth.)
As usual, set Background Process limit to At Most 4 Processes under Developers options
If you have problems with Play store after applying custom dpi in ROM Control (i have tested it with normal play store and working just fine though), please apply patched play store from my Miuiv4. Will upload/attach it here later.
Disable ring delay in phone setting to make your call ringing immediately

Thanks for the encouragements.
Right now i'm trying to include the new camera which a bit faster and have burst mode. Once finish that, will try to remove any unwanted apk before trying to put any extra tweaks, testing applying themes and other things. Just got permission from the dev of ROM that i take as aokp base so i think i can release it earlier than i expect.
Good to hear

Havent test it as i didnt use it frequently, but in zeubea's cm9 (which is this ROM based on), i got very poor results, accuracy of 1900m, might be because of my location (borneo island) or something else but i will test it.

Yes, the basics is all working fine even in the initial stage. All obvious bugs has been fixed. As i have mentioned in post #3, im on stability testing for now as i intended to use this ROM as my primary ROM.
I have used this ROM under heavy usage for 2 days without any single reboots, tonight i will do stress test on it and tomorrow once i get back to the office, i will clean up everything (and implement the OTA updater if possible) and upload it. So, i can say you can expect it to be shared here by Tuesday 28 aug.

If you read about it (or at least zai's quote) you'll find why this should be called an idiot kernel.
But no: reading and understanding is not important if you "develop" your own Roms. If something's wrong call it "impossible".

INSTRUCTIONS AND DOWNLOADS
The first thing I recommend you to do is to preform a nandroid backup (it's optional, but highly recommendable).
Secondly, if you want a clean install, get the XXMA3 Stock Firmware from HERE. This is a stock firmware package ready to be flashed through Odin and it's the one I've used as base. I've downloaded it from SamMobile and then created it using SplitFUS2.
Don't know how to use Odin? Click HERE!
Relevant downloads:
Download ClockWorkMod Recovery (if you don't have it already). Don't know where to download it? Just search for Millan.SIS CWM (for example)
Download TransfROMers_V1_2.zip (Please don't make any mirrors...)
Optional downloads:
Download and extract Rings_Notif_Alarms.rar -> OPTIONAL! Not needed for the ROM to work. These are just some custom ringtones, notifications and alarms arranged by me.
Download and extract Original Sounds.rar -> OPTIONAL! Only if you want the original stock sounds (in case you don't enjoy the ones included with the ROM).
Download and extract APK.rar -> OPTIONAL! These are just some cool apps that I use (specially Noozy Player).
Enough downloading, let's get started:
Place the downloaded zip file (and optional extracted folders) on your SD Card's root.
Turn off the phone
Access stock Recovery (Turn on the phone with this Key combo -> Long press Home+Volume up+Power Button)
Choose Wipe DATA
Choose Wipe CACHE
Choose Apply Update from SD card
Choose CWM -> you will boot into CWM Recovery
Wipe DATA and CACHE again via CWM
Go to Advanced
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Wipe Battery Stats (only if your Battery is full, otherwise, don't do it)
Press Back Button
Choose Install zip From SDCARD
Choose zip From SDCARD
Select -> TransfROMers_V1_2.zip
Choose “yes...."
Wait for the Rom's installation to finish
Press Back Button and choose "Reboot"
DONE!
To enable OTA Updates, please click the link to Version 1.3 and follow instructions.
Click to collapse
NOTES
Since I didn't include kuro's data2sd script, I recommend you to use Links2SD in order to minimize the phone's storage. Don't know how to use it? Just click HERE.
Deadly's compact kernel has "THE" brightness bug. In order to fix that, just access CPU control and set the Freq. min clock to 312Mhz. For more information about this, click HERE.
Don't forget to enable all windows animations.

Thanks people.
I really appreciate all of your replies. Thought no one would give a damn about this, you know, since there are a lot of other cool ROM's out there.
Give me your feedback as well as your suggestions. I'll try to update all that's possible to turn this humble ROM into a better one.
Things I still want to accomplish:
1 - Remove the status bar from the lock screen
2 - Move the all apps/home icon to the dock's center
3 - Your suggestions...
By the way, don't ignore the optional downloads...
Hasta!

We are using different build of that kernel....
These sounds are too loud for late night....
One more thing - no init.d folder in /etc.... Is init.d supported?
Apps in launcher are in some random order for me...
I got only 4 icons on my launcher's dock.....
Sent from my GT-S6102 using Tapatalk 2
Yes init.d is supported (the kernel supports it).
The folder doesn't exist simply because I didn't add any script. But anyone is able to add they're favorite scripts.
You may ask why I didn't add any script...that's simple, because I didn't felt the need to.

Well so far I'm loving it. Everything seems to be working fine, thank you again chevyrhoads. Themes are working great also. The only thing so far is the camera works but it's not full screen. If you want to take a picture you have to touch to the left of what ever function you are trying to use. So far that's all I see. Will report more if it arises.
K will put on fix list...need more tester lol

That looks like the menu you get when flashing a N910F ROM with louforgiveno's data fix. From what I gather there's something modded in the build.prop that causes that.
If I get a chance I'll take this for a spin tomorrow.
Oh... @chevyrhoads... you might want to put in the OP what bootloader one should be on to use this ROM. Not that people actually read the OP or anything. I can't wait for the first idiot to ask whether he can dirty flash this.

if you go into build prop.....towards the bottom you'll see the line: ro.build.scafe=americano
change that line to ro.build.scafe=capuccino
if you check my last post you'll see the power menu that I have on my phone after changing that build prop line, it's dark because of my theme.

Hey so am back with an interesting thing with to share it with you guys.....yeah trust me you will like this
So....whats it???
Its the new Gboard theme enabler
It will enable the new dynamic keyboard theme for any device that is using android 11+
So what is those...
View attachment 5253033View attachment 5253031
Thes are the new dynamic keyboard designs google introduced in android 11
So now...How do you get this..???
Its pretty simple you can do this with some magisk modules but not everyone uses or prefers magisk right?
so i have a flashable twrp zip file that will do the job for you
So you can go here and grab it
https://github.com/IMMANUEL44/gboard_theme_enabler/raw/main/Gboard_theme_enabler.zip
Instructions:
- Reboot to TWRP
- Flash the zip
- Restart phone
Done.
Also you can do this via termux/terminal if you have and want a rooted method
su -c sed -i '/bool.*redesign/s/false/true/g' /data/data/com.google.android.inputmethod.latin/shared_prefs/flag_value.xml
Thanks to @Adithya R for the instructions
Also some magisk modules exist you can also use that
Thanks to PixelProps for the method and also for the testers

No
Honestly all credits should go for me since I'm origin of all of these Gboard stuff you are even using screenshots from my Telegram channel t.me/rkbdigboard . Making flashable module of flags which will reset on Gboard update or even GMS update is stupid because you have to flash it everytime after update.

You are right not everyone uses any root on phone and it could be useful but I don't think that's good idea to put it to device tree because it could break many of my Gboard themes. I'm not against your module and i think it's very cool to make flashable to enable most of the features at once without using file explorer which could be difficult for new users. I just got pissed off that everyone don't credit my findings but just emoji

I never said it was my idea i clearly mentioned it was the idea given by Manish4586 and he helped me port it i just added the values and it seems lame to point it to that magisk moduel cause it is how the commands are done anyways and i have more flags than in that module so it doesnt make sense i didnt give credits to the maker of the script caue i dont know who did it i wasnt mentioned about it so nly i didnt credit or i would have done it am ready to do it whole heartedly now too i dont wanna spoil someones hardwork
