Recommend wireless charger for S7 Edge? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Accessories

I'm trying to decide whether to get a wireless charger for my S7 Edge. I have looked at a few options but can't seem to find one that meets my requirements. Reviews often mention a noise when charging which, as it will be right next to my bed, is a definite no-no. Also I don't want any bright lights as my OH already complains about the amount of lights showing from my night-time tech plugged in. I could tape over small lights though.
I'm not bothered about fast charging as it would be overnight. Obviously reliability is important and not heating up too much. Any recommendations please? I am in the UK.

I had a look at the Spigen but I have very little room next to my bed and it would take up a lot of room. I have heard that the official Samsung is noisy while charging?

I bought a Bedside table with wireless charging at IKEA model "SELJE" it works great no noise!
It has a small led when charging is activated, but it is covered by the phone so no problem it lights...

You can charge 2 devices at the same time since the charger also has a USB port.
Max. power induction charging: 5W.
1 USB port.
Voltage USB port: 5Vdc.
Current USB port: Max. 2000mA.

Wow, I never knew these existed! Sadly, my bedroom furniture is all oak so this table wouldn't fit in very well.

I bought a CHOETECH some time ago. Here's a link: https://www.amazon.de/CHOETECH-Indu...eräte-schwarz-Schwarz-mit-Kabel/dp/B015K8D8WI
Placed it on my bedside table and it works perfect. Not too large and no noise at all; it does have some LED's to indicate charging (different color for slow or fast) but they are automatically dimmed when it's dark. In an almost completely dark room I really have to look very good to see if they are on

HappyLlama can you let me know what model number this one is please. I can't find it on the link you've given and would like to find it in the UK.

I like the look of the Seneo too but have found a very useful review of the ChoeTech 518 on You Tube and it seems to have everything I need so I'm going to order that. Thanks for everyone's help.

That's the same one I have. It works great but since it's on my nightstand and I use my phone as a night/alarm clock, I had to put a piece of tape over the front LED as it was too bright for a dark room.

There's some guy selling official Samsung chargers for like £5 on eBay now. I think they're probably the S6 version, which means only 1amp output.... but absolutely perfect for charging your phone at night
That's what I'm using, they look ****ing sweet too haha.

I just got a official Samsung wireless charger but it just says "Wireless charging has paused" all the time, so im thinking of buying another one. Im looking at this atm, https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01FQTMOBC/ref=noref?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&s=electronics - Will it fast charge my Exynos version of S7 Edge? It seems its Quick Charge 2.0 as in only supports Snapdragon version. If not, can anyone recommend or say what I need to look at for a fast charge wireless stand? Its important its a stand.
Its input values, right? On the Samsung official one it says "Input 5.0V::::2.0A 9.0V:::::1.67A"
Thanks alot!

Nexus 6 Car Charger?

Anyone have a good recommendation for a car charger for the Nexus 6? I drive a lot, and need to be able to give it a quick charge.
I'm open to cheap and expensive options, I just need a good quick charger.
Well, I used the Nexus wireless charger for my N5 in my car. (Some cars support USB natively. For those that don't, any 2A Auto-to-USB -- or even better, Auto with corded microUSB -- adapter will work.) The magnets keep the N5 locked in place, so it doesn't bounce off, and there were no cables to fiddle with when placing the phone on (or taking it off) the charger. True, you had to get a bit creative if you wanted it mounted, but that usually wasn't too difficult. Personally, the N5 with charger fit perfectly in my center console, so mounting issues weren't a concern.
We'll have to see whether or not the N6 will support the magnetic mount for wireless chargers at all, and if it does, how well does it stay in place? If it works as well as the N5, then the Nexus wireless charger would be my top recommendation for a car charger.
As is posted in another thread, there are Quick Charge 2.0 certified accessories available, or will be soon.
Here is the link:

More to come, and as soon people realize its a good thing more companies will make Quick Charge 2.0 compatible chargers, power banks, car chargers etc.

Very interested in this. Ironically I could care less about quick charge at home... I always plug my phone in when I'm driving, and I work out of town so it's a lot. I wonder if using quick charge daily for am hour or so each way would hurt the phone... my phone already gets pretty hot driving with streaming music and navigation/waze.

From what I hear it could mess with the battery. I only charge to full and only when I really need power I will charge it for a short time.

Not for $30 With this battery, I can likely work all day and make it to the gym afterwards where I listen to music while working out and watch play movies/netflix while I finish up with cardio. My normal car charger will likely be fine for this.

That's actually the cheapest of the quick chargers I've found so far but yeah $30 is pushing it. I have found myself with a low charge on the OPO before where a quick charger would have been helpful. Instead I've had to use a NewTrent battery pack with it and the phone stuck in my man purse.
I use the Scosche USBC242M it's a dual port charger. Each port is 12 watts(2.4A). Its pretty fast, I believe the certified quick charge 2.0 ones are 15 watt ports.

Looks like it's a more flush fitment too, whereas the rest are much taller.
I've used some Pure-Gear cables before. They were not manufactured well at all. They were also mislabeled as to what type.
Remember everybody, if you use a 2A car charger, which now seem to be widely available, you also must use the proper cable or you won't get the full current.
This Mediabridge is my favorite charging cable:

I can vouch for the incipio car charger, acts very similarly to the turbo charger and definitely charges faster than any car charger I've personally used. Pricey, but the tradeoff is worth it
...
....
I ordered the neobits charger that was linked earlier. I like the idea of the new turbo style charger in the car. Price is deceptive because the cheapest shipping option is $14...

It works and everything but it isn't as flush mount as the design would seem to indicate. It sticks out a little which kind of annoys me. It is more minimal than any other car quick charger I have seen though so I guess it's ok.

Powermod Quick Charge 2.0 Certified D/C In-Vehicle Car USB Charger
Both chargers are as fast as advertised over my stock HTC A/C charger that came with the phone and my Rockfish car charger I've been using since my HTC Vivid days.
They both came in nice retail packaging and the Powermod car charger comes with a nice (but short) USB cable. The Tenergy wall charger has an LED on it and it is blue when an non QC 2.0 device is plugged in and turns green when a QC 2.0 compliant device is plugged in. Unfortunately the car charger doesn't have this feature. It has a blue light that rings the device but only indicates that it has power. It doesn't change color when a QC 2.0 compliant device is plugged in.
I have found that both of these chargers will not charge my Asus Transformer TF201. I find this strange because I've used other USB style wall chargers with my Asus data cable (the transformer has a proprietary changing port connector) that worked just fine. Still doing research on that one but I'll not be using these to charge my tablet. I just wanted to point this out as some of these QC manufactures say they are backwards compatible with most devices. YMMV.
I've been using both for about 3 weeks and am very happy with the performance of both units.
Below is data from a series of comparison tests to show how much faster the Qualcomm QC 2.0 chargers are over stock type chargers. The data in the HTC vs. Tenergy charger is an average of 4 charges per device. The HTC vs. Tenergy temperature comparison chart is through one full charge cycle from below 20% to 100%. As you can see the QC 2.0 does charge at a higher temperature. I also took the temperature while charging on QC 2.0 with my DotView case on and at 50% the temperature on the back of the case was 91.4 F. I have taken my phone temperature after heavy gaming and the back has actually gotten hotter just playing games than at any time during the charging cycle with QC2.0. I used a IR handheld thermogun we use at work.
The Powermod and Rockfish data is from my commute to and from work that is on average 30 minutes. There are 4 charge cycles for each devise over a 30 minute period.
Conclusion:
The performance of both units is great compared to stock. Since I can already get a full day worth of battery with between 15 and 20% left after a typical day both these chargers just make life easier. If you have to go somewhere but still have 30 minutes before you leave you can "top off" your battery before leaving if you are low. Example, you realize you have less than 10% battery but have some time before you have to leave. Plug you QC 2.0 charger in and get to at least 50% in that time. I feel much better walking out the door with 50% than 10%. With the car charger you can keep your battery "topped off" between destinations. Time will tell on the longevity of the phone battery and the chargers themselves.
I hope you've found this helpful.
I recommend both of these units.:good:

OP,
Some links would be nice. I rarely ever have any issues with running out of power like you have stated. I usually charge while i'm at my desk at work all day, and when I sleep at night, and I never have had an issue with an empty battery. I'm sure some people do have trouble with that; like those who spend all day on the phone, but I'd like to see which products you are talking about, OP.
Thanks!

Actually I'm not sure why my pictures are not showing up. I have my pictures set to public. I'll move them and try another location as soon as I get to work.

Pictures are working now. And holy cow..that's some impressive work Thanks for taking the time to test it all!
Thanks for the input.
I have the Tenergy wall charger and I have been pleased with the results. I will probably buy the same car charger you have next.
Glad everyone seeing the data now. I put this together because of all the questions on QC 2.0 that past few months.
BTW - I do crap like this all the time at work so it really wasn't that much work other than gathering the data. The charts etc took less than an hour to create after I had all the data I wanted.
Cheers mate!
Great data indeed

The car charger doesn't indicate if it's charging at QC 2.0 specs. Only the wall charger does that. The only way you can tell that the car charger is doing it's QC 2.0 is by the battery level or using an inline USB current meter that will show the charge rate.
Sorry for the confusion, I'll update my review.

The charger above has a slimmer profile on a power strip than the Motorola "fat" pack (pictured below).
I'm still looking for a charger that is no wider than the typical charger like a Samsung or HTC charger. Something that fits easily in airplane receptacles. Can be as deep as needed I.e. extend off the wall or outlet...
Many protrusions prevent the Moto quick changer not able to seat all the way our at an awkward angle that allows the charger to fall out of the outlet easily.

The slim profile charger I posted above works fine for airplanes. My wife and I went to Brazil for two weeks earlier this month. We flew on 4 airplanes during that time -- Delta Airlines to and from Sao Paulo, and then Brazilian airline TAM to other places in Brazil.

That's interesting because from the photo you posted it looks to be just about as wide as the Moto charger across the face with the prongs. On Delta MD-88 particularly the faces hits the bevels and the blades dont go in all the way to make consistent contact.
MD90 is basically as bad:
But truthfully I forgot that I am holding out looking a QC2.0 true "travel" charger that has international tips. that isn't wide as a bus or at least the tips push the bulk away from the blades. Thankfully they have replaced nearly all those deep recessed outlets that were on B767 which I assume you took to Brazil..
So any ones with travel tips?

The other pictures on Amazon of the one you posted definitely show it look smaller profile on the prong face. So I can see it is in the right size range. now to find an international one.

Just telling you it worked for me.
On the way down I used just the charger, as is.
Coming back, I had high quality Brazilian plug adapter still connected to the charger (from using it in Brazil), so I kept that on while charging on the Delta flight back. Didn't see the need to remove the adapter, and possibly lose it.
You can buy one of those and there's your travel tips.
______
Another nice thing about the charger I found it is it automatically detects voltage and adjusts as needed. 100 volts - 240 volts. All the outlets in the charging stands at the Sao Paulo airport were 220 volts, while residential Sao Paulo uses 127 volts. Before I plugged it into the airport charging stand, I went back to the Amazon description just to make sure I wasn't about to burn up my phone or the charger...

Those things are BULKY lol. But yea they would do the trick. The best part about these higher quality chargers is that they can accept that wide voltage window without an external transformer. a la the old International Blackberry chargers. So if they just made them with the interchangeable tips there'd be nothing else to get. I need at least the UK, EU, and possibly Australian tips. So it's alot to keep up with when they are bulky like that but I guess I could just use one of those where they slid out different tips from the same cylinder.

and the designer of the moto charger should be smacked for making it unnecessarily larger in awkward orientation.

Fast QI charger with USB port and no light

I am looking for a fast QI charger for my S7E that does not light up and one or more USB ports on it. I want this because I will place it on my nightstand in my bedroom where I want it dark (hence no lights) and I want to be able to connect a sleep monitor (hence the USB port). Can anyone make recommendations? relevant recommendations will receive heartfelt thanks.
Something like these two together should do the trick. I use this quick charge stand and love it. It does have a small LED on the front but you can just cover it with a small piece of black electrical tape if need be.

I got the Anker Powerport QI 10. It has lights but only when you put the phone on it. It lasts for 5secs and then turns off.
Thanks for the responses guys. Unfortunately, neither is quite what I'm looking for. I'm looking for something like this but with fast QI https://www.amazon.com/Ugreen-Wirel...&qid=1480615095&sr=1-267&keywords=fast+qi+usb

No problem but if you use what I linked, you will get 4 USB ports to plug devices into along with a fast qi charger. It's technically 2 things on the desk but it does exactly what you want.

Unfortunately, its not really want I'm looking for. I I have a small shelf next to my bed that has just enough room for my glasses, phone and sleep monitor. So I really just want one cord running from the wall up to the shelf and then the USB cable for the sleep monitor plugged into the pad.
Try this one. Bought it few days ago and it has been working well for me!
This will solve the problem with a light.
I stumbled over this today and remembered this thread;

Dammit i hate it so much that all those wireless chargers put the BRIGHTEST led indicator they can find right in front of the charger.
Wouldn't it make sense to use a low-powered charger (1A or less) to put on your night stand? In that way you don't overheat your battery - which will make it last longer - and since you probably sleep for more than an hour a day, you don't really have to worry about the duration until it is fully charged, do you?
yup
youre totally right. quick charger in the car is better idea! night stand quick charging to me always seemed kinda dumb. why am i even looking to spend $50 on one. im gonna get the regular paced qi charger.. that way it slowly charges the phone at night and ill pick up the quick charger for the truck

I have a wireless fast charger beside my bed and my phone is never hot in the morning. Also, couldn't you just turn off fast wireless charging anyway if you're worried (unnecessarily IMO) about somehow damaging your phone?

If you use fast charging, the phone is going to be fully charged long before morning, so even if it got hot while charging you wouldn't know by morning. It stops charging once it's full. Bur yes, you can turn off fast charging. But then why pay for a fast charger?
I agree with the other poster. If the point is charging over night, you don't need speed. Fast chargers DO generate more heat in the battery than slow chargers. It's basic physics.

25W Charging? What happened to the 45W?

Accessories are always a wild card. Did we really just drop the 45W charging feature on the Note 20/ Ultra? Specs only listing the 25W. I have the official 45W accessory and other chargers that support the proper profiles for the PPS to work. Seems like wasted tech at this point.
Or is there something I'm missing?
Keep it for when it is reintroduced next year. If the rumors prove right we might have to purchase chargers separately anyway (or make do with old ones)

ah, yeah. I read the articles as well..
I'm currently using one of the HyperJuice 100W for my devices https://www.kickstarter.com/project...t-100w-gan-charger/posts/2919125?ref=activity
and this one on order https://www.kickstarter.com/project...t-100w-gan-charger/posts/2909520?ref=activity
That HyperJuice looks cool, but from the comments, it looks like people are having random issues with the charger and actually getting the charger..... I have been happy with Anker chargers anyway. I already have their newer PD car charger like 38 or 42 watts or what ever it is. I have not upgraded my wall chargers from Anker yet..... I am waiting for a 6 port USB C PD charger, but I doubt that will come out for a while because it would need to be over 100 watts.
samsung really watered down the note this year 45w charging is just one of the compromises on this device unfortunately.
not that there was a huge difference in 25 and 45 w charging times but thats not the point. The Note is supposed to be the workhorse the flagship so they should not be removing features.

I'm wondering is that a software flip they can make to enable it. I bought one for our two N10+ and when I need a lot of charge in a pinch, it delivers. I have it in the kitchen as central location. Forgot to charge it at night, getting ready in the morning, running down to 5%...set it for 15-20 minutes and we're good.
I don't know what crawled up Samsungs back side but it seems like we're being prepped for loss of features as a bonus for premium prices.
Headphone jack
FM Antenna
45watt charging
smaller storage
smaller battery
wired earphones
and soon to be charging brick.
Personally I'd like them to ditch the curved edges.

Those were so much fun at the bar. Nothing like being able to turn off tennis and put on baseball without having to ask, LOL.

Just remember. When you're dealing with happy people, they tend not to post about it. When you're dealing with upset people, they tend to scream from the rooftops in our heard the loudest. Same with posting online...
I've had mine for a while now, and no issues at all with the hyperjuice. some of the edges were little sharper than I liked, I simply sanded them down and no issues.
The only real complaint I had was, it didn't support the full Gambit of USB PD profiles. So no PPS like Samsung was touting. Now that other one by CIO does support PPS and all the other standards. That one is really exciting to me

[emoji817] 100% I've been preaching and asking for the ir port to be brought back. I stuck with my note 4 through many generations until I killed it and couldn't get parts anymore for it.
@rosedog
Has to have the proper chipset #1
And also has to have compatible battery chemistry. The thicker charging leads on the boards, thermal sensors. Etc. Could be there. Guess we will find out soon enough with teardowns.
i bought a used alcatel 7, it has IR.
i carry it when i go travel, to change hotel tv input so i can stream my video.
