Nexus 6 (Stock) and app associations - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all, I have a nexus 6 running 7 beta.
Does anyone know how to stop apps like soundcloud trying to force them selves on you.
For instance I use facebook Lite and when launching a soundcloud link it takes be to the playstore. I hate the app and just want to use the browser. Im not sure if its hardcoded in the app or if there is a system change I can make.
I dont mind it with youtube as the app is fine but some of this 3rd party ones I don't need when I can just view in the browser.
This used to work but I would like to set a number of URLs to not try launching an APP.

HTC Flash Player

I am running KingxKxROM and i noticed the HTC Flash player app while browsing BetterCut and creating an activity shortcut. I made the shortcut and then tried to launch it from the home screen and I keep getting force closes.
1) can this app be independently launched?
2) can this app play adobe shockwave flash objects?
3) can this app play .flv file formatted videos?
I had a Nokia 5610 and it had Flashlite 2.1 and was able to play some shockwave flash objects files but due to its low memory it could only do smaller files and such.
I was wondering if this HTC flash player can do the same. If so, can some one tell me how?
I don't think it's an app to be launched by itself, but through the browser. It comes with most hero builds, and only works on Hero builds

Yeah I believe it is for browser use only. Like if a webpage uses javascript like YouTube, You can watch the video from the actual website & not have to have it open up the YouTube app. That is just one example though. If I am wrong someone please correct me.

Watch animated gifs in browser

Hey there, I would like to see gifs in my browser, since everytime I want to see them, I have to switch to Firefox, however, in firefox I dont have flash support, so I constantly change between browsers... Is there anyway to enable this in the default browser, or another browser which can do both?
Thanks!
Both work for me using opera.

[Q] Streak 7 honeycomb sound issue

Was wondering if anyone has had this problem that i have and if there is a fix for it. I am using the stock rom and when i play podcasts or music in general in any app i want to multitask and research what im listening to but honeycomb seems to kill the task and its stock nothing to make it do it i want it to play audio in background while im surfing the browser or other areas but it just kills task.
That might depend on the app. I know that TuneIn Radio will play in the background. In fact, at first I wondered why it didn't stop.

guessing thats normal then since it doesnt do it in other apps. i tried doggcatcher and beyondpod but it kills them must be an app problem but they say its not. oh well
Maybe you need to change priority of your app to Foreground? But sound likes really this app doesn't support playing in backgr

I'm not a heavy podcast listener- but for what it's worth-
I use the google listen app for the ones I do listen to...it works for listening while browsing... I'm running stock HC on my ds7 as well.
the ram for the dell streak 7 available is only 256mb, and HC 3.2 was setup so that it automatically close the task in background if it run out of memory.
the only fix is that go to development in settings menu and uncheck the box "close background apps"

This Thread is intended for People you have installed Android "L" Preview and have not tried to do any sort of customizing to it. Also for the people who are coming from a clean wipe. well the thread seems quite important but it would be even better if the op will take the initiative to update the op with app not working

Notifications menu. Vids won’t play

Things used to be fine. Save video to phone. In the notification menu on top of screen after download is done. Tap one to open. It’d open and play. Not anymore. I installed an rar app and archive app. Every time I tap vids to open it would pop up a list of those apps to use. Once or always open. So I uninstalled them. Now it just opens the files app or downloads app. I never had any issue before. How do I fix this? I looked at settings for chrome and it seems ok for how to deal with media. Not sure though.
Thanks.
What file extension is the video?
Which app was launching to play the video when things were working?
In settings>>apps>>default apps is anything shown for video?
Try resetting app preferences in settings>>system>>reset app preferences
Thanks. They’re mp4. I don’t know. The default video app on the pixel 4 xl was used but I don’t know. Reset app prefs is a good first step. Didn’t think of that. Hmm.
