So, he didn't sign up and use Google Photos, Dropbox, Amazon Photos, anything like that?
I have a friend who said she was terrified of losing all her pictures and she never realized they were automatically being backed up by Google.

nope, none of that stuff. there has to be a way to get into it. I was seeing where some people were using a usb to hdmi dongle to get it connected to a monitor and mouse, and i have one of those converters, but mine doesnt have a mouse port and i dont have the phone in my possession anyways

Oh. Well, I hope your friend gets the pictures off.

Easy to do
You can connect your phone to your computer screen and use your mouse to remove everything from it and save it on your computer or on a usb drive.

The device makes you select it as a USB drive in the GUI. I'd have to try the HDMI output device I have

This phone doesn't support mhl. How do you intend on connecting it to a pc screen?

Use as mass storage device for USB card Stereo?

I have a car stereo that will allow me to plug in a USB flash drive for example loaded with standard MP3's / WMA's or what not.
Im looking for a way to be able to hook up my ATT tilt, and have the music on there recognized as being on a mass storage device.
Im guessing there is some software out there that could accomplish this but after searching for a few days I have yet to find anything.
Anyone have any ideas?

well yes yes i know I could do that lol
But pulling that tiny freakin card in and out of my phone 1000 times im sure it will end up getting sucked into the black hole under the seat of my car never to be seen again.
Also It would be nice to do it via the phone as It would charge the phone at the same time.
Might have found something

I've never cared for the WM5Storage on the Kaiser. I've found it best to use Softick Card Export 2 to make the Kaiser into a USB Card Reader. Well worth the money.

Use Nexus One for External on 360?

Trying to figure out a way to use my Nexus One as a 'portable device' on my xbox 360. I've tried reformatting the SD card and removing partitions. Sorta lost. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas?
The Xbox 360 will format it automatically to its own "format/partition", It will max out at 16gigs (or 32, I forgot). Try this, plug it in, turn on usb removable device on the Nexus One, now on the 360 go to settings/memory, and see if it's detected, then format it on the 360 to make it usable.
Side note, why in the heck do you want to do this? The 360 will use the ENTIRE microSD card, no matter what, so you phone can't use it.
Go get a cheap USB flash drive, problem solved.
Tried that already, it doesn't recognize it at all.
The idea is hopefully it'll only be worthless when it's in USB mode connected to the 360. And because I can use LogMeIn Ignition+Dropbox to move over movies into my Dropbox folder, download onto my SD card and then I can just plug it in via USB and watch said movies through the 360 at friends and associates houses'.
Also it's great for when I want to listen to my music and things like that while I'm at their house.

Oh, I thought you were trying to use the microsd inside the Nexus One as an Xbox 360 "memory card" (since it now supports the use of USB Flash drives like that, since MU's are discontinued).
Nope. I just wanna be able to plug it in (mount if needed) and be able to use it as a portable device for media. Anyone else have any thoughts or ideas?
bump
No one has any ideas?
get a ps3

That actually is a good idea for the 4GB card that came with the phone.

Need help

I own an Xperia Z. Apparetly the water proofing feature failed and after trying hard to salvage my phone I can connect it to pc and able to access the file inside. PC companion detects it too. The problem is screen is busted and i would like to try to access it through mirror apps BUT I realised that initialising is required. Any solution you guys have in mind?
If screen is still show something, use USB-OTG cable, its cheap(0.5-3 Euro) and connect to it normal mouse to move on screen
If screen is totally dead, connect MHL cable(5pin not 12pin that is for samsung), its cost from 4 euro to 10 Euro, connect it to tv via HDMI slot and it stream your phone screen to TV(also its better than wifi streaming because no lags and it charge phone, good for playing GTA ;] and you can use it with other phones )
Both cables you can buy in any shop that sell phones, tech stuff or just get in on ebay.
PS. Also you can backup ALL data from sd card and build in memory, especially "android" folder. Install the same apps on other phone, then open them, close apps, and replace those folders with your backups, you gonna get the same data like you had in xz.

alright then i think thats the best method after all thanks a bunch!!!! I have been looking up and found out that there is a way to put my phone on debugging mode without the need to touching the phone through command prompt. Any ideas about it?
Nope, I dont like messing with anything that require commands, debugging or terminal. Its funny because for most of my life I use linux xD
But Im a person who think that if we have GUI... we use GUI. because using terminal for simple tasks is like using dog instead of computer mouse... its just retarded... But it just my opinion ;]
So I think that if you have access to your files, just copy them to other phone with the same installed apps, and try to recover your data. Or try those cables... Maybe someone else would have better idea or know how to use this debugging for that... :/

Is there a way to do a full backup when touch screen is dead?

Can't run titanium back up because my touch screen is dead. Don't want to lose progress in some of my games!
Any suggestions? (Other than I'm a loser for worrying about my game progress. lol)
Does Kies (or whatever it's called these days) backup the phone still? I can't remember if you have to accept / acknowledge the connection as you plug in the usb. Hope this helps, AoN
Hook the phone up to a PC and copy the contents of your SD card to your PC. Most games store your progress on there.

usb otg works on my galaxy s6. Just use that and a usb mouse.
Use OTG to a mouse, any basic mouse should work

Smartswitch is the client now. Believe the only thing that matters is that the phone is unlocked

Screen broken so unable to backup data onto pc, help!

Hi,
My phone, despite being in a supposedly smash proof case, has a broken screen. Ergo it will not let me backup onto pc. Is there any way I can access the data on my phone? Or are there places I can take it so they can recover data. Thankyou.
Warranty should help you backup your stuff.
Found this: "I just saw another thread and had an idea. You could buy a USB-C to HDMI adapter, plug it into your TV and see if it works. Then you could pop a mouse into the adaptor and bob's yer uncle.
Let us know how you get on.
Cheers
Steve"

Any usb-c to hdmi should work fine.
Beyond that you're stuck
I'm in a similar predicament. Were you able to resolve the issue? If so what'd you end up doing?
Hi,
I tried using a USB-C to HDMI/USB to no avail. Had the screen showing on the TV but mouse movement was never recorded.
Seems you need the primary monitor, the screen that is, to unlock.
So, I'm going to have my screen replaced during the week.
