As I was just looking into these images for another reason, I also copied the bootanimation zip-files for you. Here you go.

Thanks a lot! I think I'll go to gimp (Photoshop alternative)and just create a initial image for the bootlogo.

Sorry, no. I just copied the bootanimation zip-file directly from the Pixel's image at /system/media/bootanimation.zip. So this is not a flashable zip but really just contains the bootanimation.

How can i extract boot logo (splash screen) and where i have to place it?

Just curious... can anyone tell from this if the Pixel has HTC's own HBOOT bootloader? Or is it a Google bootloader of some sort? As I said, I'm just curious. If HBOOT was on there, the HTC fanboy in me would be happy to know that they got a little bit of software onboard the Pixel.

I think it has google bootloader. It's a pure google phone. More than nexus. It doesn't even have the htc logo

Yes, I downloaded the img, and at some point will unpack and get files. I figured in the meantime, someone who has already done that maybe could share one.

Can anyone post the stock Boot.img if anyone has it extracted please?

Google store version: I tried flashing the latest factory image with November security patch using the flash-all.sh, flashing boot and radio image went fine but I get an error about missing boot_a partition. I even tried the previous factory image and got the same error. I ended up side loading the OTA finally.
Has anyone had success flashing the factory image?

I flashed my Verizon version fine. If I had to guess, sounds like your fastboot is out of date.
Edit: to clarify, the fastboot binary on your pc

Thank you, I was using the fastboot & adb that comes from brew on my Mac and that is not current. I installed the latest SDK and got it working.

If you got 4.0.3 we need a copy of your OS before you upgrade. 4.0.3 has vulnerabilities that we need to get root. Sorry I don't know the procedure, but I am sure some dev will be more than willing to tell you.

Just saw this and need to let you know not to do any soft of fastboot or updating without backing up your files. The worry is you flash a retail bootloader and possibly cannot go back if you use these.

yeah, that's why i'm holding out... battery life sucks on the 4.0.3. it barely gets me 8-9 hours with moderate use. i've noticed there are huge drops in the battery level every now and then. i guess i'll just deal with it until we get the root thing sorted out.

Ok so I have unlocked my bootloader now with SunShine thanks to jcase. Can anybody link me to the proper thread for installing a custom recovery? Also, I assume that installing a custom recovery means a full data wipe, correct?

best way is:
go on the play store download the app flashify and go through the process it take you. are you rooted?
Done and done. Unlocked and rooted finally! Now to just remove that unlocked bootloader message. I missed my xposed modules!

I changed both. The animation works fine when I flash them through twrp, but the logo (where it used to give the bootloader unlocked warning) is a cyan colored screen with a white box where the logo should have replaced it. I tried to flash it through fastboot and mfastboot both of which were unsuccessful. Not sure what I've done but as you can imagine it's pretty ugly. I can take a picture of it if necessary.

Phone showed 5.0.1 update ready but went to twrp

So my phone is rooted with unlocked bootloader running faux kernel. I just received the ota update and clicked the button for restart and install. When I did that it brought me to my main option list in twrp. I didn't know what to do so I hit reboot system. It rebooted but nothing showed updating when I did that. Showing I'm still on 5.0.0.
What did I need to do? How do I still update now?
You cannot accept ota if you're modified.
You'll have to flash a ROM.zip or fastboot flash system.and boot image.from the factory images

If you download the image from google there is a zip drive with the files you are looking for inside of them. You can fastboot them individually.
Or you could just flash one of the many roms on here that are using the newer 5.0.2

[Q] No OS on phone

So, like an absolute idiot I wiped /system without a proper ROM zip on my device and I'm stuck with no OS on my device. I asked for Drive access to the KK factory image from Motorola, am I heading in the correct path for success? Does someone already have the KK image that they could provide for me? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance
Yeah your on the right path I did the same thing once
Once you get the factory image, you'll use fastboot to flash the files with the instructions Moto provides. You'll be fine.
Do u still have a custom recovery installed? You can put the to custom ROM zip on the flash drive or SD card and plug in an otg cable to the phone and you should be able to flash the ROM from there. Or you can do adb sideload from the recovery

Worked perfectly.
My process
- Flash stock 5.1 using fastboot (Steps can be found on Motorola's site or somewhere on XDA)
- Install Marshmallow OTA
- Flash cracked boot.img for Marshmallow. This step is needed in order for TWRP to stick and for you to root without getting stuck on the warning screen. (I'll find the link for you if you can't. It's somewhere on XDA.)
- Flash TWRP
- Create backup so I don't have to go through this process next time haha

Something odd has happened since upgrading to 6.0.
'adb devices' still sees my phone, but 'fastboot devices' no longer sees anything, and making a desktop back-up with adb now creates a file containing 0 bytes.
Everything else seems fine. Are there some new permissions I need to give before this will work?
Thanks again.
Edit: I managed to get fastboot working, however now I've run into a new problem.
To confirm, when you say flash the cracked boot.img for Marshmallow, I should execute 'fastboot flash boot boot.img' for the cracked boot.img?
I'm getting the error: mismatched partition size (boot)
I can still enter TWRP with fastboot, but it's not permanent without the cracked boot.img
Am I missing a step?
Edit #2: Finally got TWRP to stick another way and have root now. Thanks for everything!
