Why doesn't my P9 see the latest update OTA? - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I just got a P9 a couple of days ago, it has L09C432B170 installed.
I see in the forums that L09C432B180 is the latest but if I check for an update my phone tells it is up to date.
I am in German on 1&1 but phone is unlocked and unbranded...I just came from Windows Mobile so I am bit behind of if Android device updates need to be approved/released by the network before push to devices these days.

Because there is no officiell realese yet on B180, if u want it u have to install it manually. U can download it here.

Ah ok, didn't realise it wasn't officially released.
Got it on download right now so will give it a try.
Thanks

ROM for AL00?
I have an EVA AL00 - a Chinese version of the phone. I was experimenting with the newly release Marshmallow ROMs, which installed successfully, but subsequentlly by mistake downgraded to a 4.1.1. EMUI ROM which looks nothing like the original Chinese EVA-AL00 ROM. I have since been unable to install any other ROMs or upgrade them via dload on SDCard. The current ROM I seem to have is EVA-C900B162.
Three questions which I am hoping members of the forum can help with:
1. Are there links to original Chinese ROMs? Which one should I download? http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/rom-stock-rom-eva-l19c636b168-t3419586
2. The ROM I have now - what is its country of origin?
3. Which Marshmallow upgrade ROM should I use?
Thanks!

1. Non of the roms in the link is for the Chinese Version.
2. C900 is a Global version so i dont know exact what rom u installed but i Think u have used C432 wich is a EU version.
3. Here is a Chinese Stock rom u can use to your phone.

I tried installing the ROM you sent by putting the UPDATE file in to the dload folder, powering down, howling Vol Up+Vol Down+Power (as always) and when I get to the update screen at 5% it says software is incompatible. Any suggestions? The phone is not rooted and twrp is not installed.

Your Vendor is All and should work with any firmware. What firmware did u flash with so it became C900? Best would be to unlock bootloader and debrand it to C432 with SrkTool Huawei.

See, that's the thing. I was trying a number of firmware files. I had flashed it to the forthcoming Marshmallow release (the one that says EMUI is 3.1, but in fact it was 5) and it worked fine. Then I by mistake upgraded to the current version and I have no idea which specific file I used. I tried upgrading back to Marshmallow or to another existing version and can't do it. I am sure this has been posted already but can you shared the instruction for:
1) unlocking the bootloader
2) debranding it to C432
Thanks!

Hello, lads, I'm new here. I'm seeing that people have version B170/80 but mine is still on B152. I received my phone a week ago. Why is it so?

I'm still stuck on 160. I'm using a phone supplied by three network.
Can I get the 180 update or what is the latest I could use?

Latest Marshmallow firmware for P8 Lite Firmware Single SIM (UK)

I am currently on “ALE-L21C432B565” firmware but it seems Huawei released a new one (OTA Updates does not show any updates, most likely B565 is for another country).
http://m.huawei.com/ukmobile/consumer/support/downloads/index.htm
HUAWEI P8 Lite Firmware(ALE-L21, Android 6.0, EMUI 4.0, C02B589CUSTC02D001, United Kingdom)
Would be good if anyone can confirm whether they have it - single or dual SIM? If not single, what’s the latest version for single SIM?
Thanks,
I upgraded to B565 from b133. Had to downgrade first, but I got to b565 on my gf p8lite. She had an update a while back to b575. Have you tried updating hicare and trying an update through there? I'm sure that's how I upgraded.
Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
I had ALE-L21C432B183. Force Installed ALE-L21C432B551 and then again ALE- L21C432B565, however, showing no OTA updates. Now thinking of another force install - ALE-L21C02B589CUSTC02D001. It does not say whether it is Single or Dual.
Did you check OTA updates recently? Is it showing any updates? If not perhaps, B75 is latest, but not showing it on UK support site.
Odd numbers are for single sim variant, it's some kind of beta rom, it's for testing. I can't install this update over b575. If someone wants to try don't install if your LCD is boe_NT35521S. Update b575 is here forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/rom-p8-lite-ale-l21c432b575-t3417082

Just installed, this is Vodafone Firmware, build number now shows Balong C52B311, will have to reflash my phone now to get rid of it lol
gordonyoung53, lol, sorry man, thanks for the update, I was ready to try this....
I purchased P8 Lite from Carphone Warehouse. I am on B565, checked now using HiSuite and it also says on latest version. Checked About>Certification, and says Serbia, lol....Must have installed a Serbian version.
What is the current Single SIM UK version?
And where can I download it to install via force method.
Hi buddimanv, cant find a uk version, i'm on b574, also serbia version from sokkoban page
It's not serbian version, it's just certificate because serbia has different lows then EU. gordonyoung53 b589 is for single sim, I think your phone is dual sim because your previous build was b574, and buddimanv you need to manually update to b575 single sim, link is forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/rom-p8-lite-ale-l21c432b575-t3417082
Thanks Ker21 for clarifying, will checkout B75. Also seen a ALE L21C432B581 on following link - wondering whether this is the latest ROM? I am assuming b589 is for Vodafone?

If i read correct yor build is b183, that's mean that your phone is single sim and you need to install single sim variant, b575 is the latest one.
B581 for some reason fails to install. It's ota update, not the full rom. Install b575.
B589 is some kind of beta rom, on phone information there is a one more line with cut bild c02, some thing like that. Sorry for my English.
Cheers Ker21, yes, my phone is a single sim, originally had ALE-L21C432B183, then upgraded to ALE-L21C432B551, and then ALE-L21C432B565.
Sorry, I missed your previous post #4....Out of interest, you mentioned about LCD boe_NT35521S, where can I check this?
That's display numbers is only important for b589, because as I wrote it before it's some kind of beta rom. Just download b575, copy dload folder to root of your sd card and dial *#*#2846579#*#*, then 4. software upgrade>SDCard upgrade
Cheers Ker21, will update to B575, thanks
Any result about the B589 firmware?
This beta shows that I am in roaming and I can't use my mobile data...any advice?
After reading the whole discussion ... it's a single sim, and is from Vodafone.

Here is a guide, the latest firmware is B202 for EMUI 4.1 i think u can go direct to B202 from B103.
What you need?
1. Charged phone
2. Enabled installing unknown apps
3. Download Firmware Finder from Google Store (the free version)
what next?
1. Run Firmware Finder
2. Go to settings and Enable Installation via system update.
3. Tool will prompt to download Firmware Finder Proxy - do it then install it
4. Go back to the tool and select firmware of your choice - make sure you select FULL (not OTA)
5. Firmware Finder Proxy window will open - do as described - go to Wifi, advanced add manual proxy as local host with 8080 port
6. Go to phone Settings - System update, DO NOT CLICK ON UPDATE, just click on Menu and choose to "Download latest full package" and then click on Update the phone
7. It will attempt to download it but it may fail (as in my case) with message about unstable internet connection - go back to wifi settings and disable proxy, go back to update and resume it - update should start to download then follow as on screen instructions.

Hi m8,
Short answer is NO, because it might get softbricked and you don't have a doco dload firmware to use in order to downgrade to previous firmware on your device.
Flashing another device cust firmware was working well whille on EMUI 9.1 and users could flash the international dload firmware version (VOG-L29 C432 one) without the risk of getting softbricked. Once EMUI 10 was released, a lot of users got their devices softbricked, because of security changes inside kernel and within system itself. Some of them managed to revived their units using different methods or when Huawei released the firmware for their devices, but there are still many of those who are waiting for an dload firmware release for their custs.
So my advice is to wait for docomo to release the update and don't flash VOG-L29 C432 dload firmware on your device (or you could do it knowing the risks and assuming them). Untill today, no user from docomo tested if flashing C432 will work, because of the chances of getting a softbrick.

Hi m8,
I will answer for both posts :
1. YES, you can remove them using ADB commands. For how to remove, check my thread from here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...w-to-remove-huawei-bloatware-vog-ele-t4014937
For finding out the name of the app you need to remove from your phone, install this app and use the original name of the apk's you need to remove (select app and press details) - https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/jumobile/system-app-remover-root/system-app-remover-root-7-1-release/
2. When you say you have the original firmware from docomo, what do you mean by that? Is it the dload firmware that can be flashed using an OTG adapter+memory stick (or Huawei NMCard) or some other firmware? As my knowledge, if you flash an EMUI 10 firmware and got softbricked device, YOU won't be able to downgrade to EMUI 9.1, just using a proper dload firmware (in your case the one released by docomo) could revive your phone. So in your case, i would wait for them to release the update ?
Let me know how can i help you more and be safe

For the dialer you can use the default Google Phone app and Google Contacts, maybe there are closer than what you're used to ?.
NO, you cant modify the firmware prior flashing it. If you / all of us could unlock bootloader and rooted our devices + installed TWRP on our Huawei phones, you could have flashed a custom ROM or remove/adding using ROOT ANY apps you would like. But as we can't unlock our bootloaders anymore, we have to use EMUI as is, customised by docomo or other provider. Only way to have a clean firmware is by getting an international or Chinese version of the device, one with C431 / C432 or AL-00 cust .
Installing other firmware COULD get you a softbricked device. I say could because nobody has yet tested flashing an C432/C431 cust firmware on the Japanese DoCoMo phones .

If your device is a P30 Pro Single SIM HW-02L (VOG-L0J) with Build ID : VOG-L0J 9.1.0.136(C341E136R1P2), then this firmaware is your original one https://easy-firmware.com/index.php?a=downloads&b=tags&tag=Huawei+VOG-L0J
Pay attention that in order to download that firmware you will need a paid account on their site

Ouch, i've replied you earlier about your firmware in case of backup, but it seems that you have a higher release version than the one available on easy-firmware.com (they have VOGUE-L0JB 9.1.0.136(C341E136R1P2) whille you have on your device v9.1.0.182(C341E136R1P2). So in case of flashing a C432 firmware on your device and get a softbrick, you are unable to return to latest available for your device. And as i've seen in your SS, there might be some problems regardless LTE basebands, which may be different in Japanese device vs European (International version).
So i would reccomend you to wait, maybe your next 1-2 firmware updates will bring you EMUI 10, alongside March/April security patches, as now you have January 1st 2020 on it ?

hi , dear SilviuO
unfortunately i haven't read this thread earlier.
I had upgraded my VOG-L0J to VOG-L29 10.1.0.151(C431E19) by using hisuite proxy .
at first , it looks perfect. until I executed factory reset.
now, almost google app are gone because of google play protect failen.
I tried to change to some other firmwares with hisuite proxy , all failed on installing step.
can you give me some advice for this situation?
thank you.

Hi there, m8. If you would asked me before?, i would recomend you to stay on your actual version... But now it's too late, so you will have to try using the GMS methods to install & use Google Services on your device.
I would also reccomend you to use a dload firmware to get back to your original cust, but there's no EMUI 10 n'or EMUI 10.1 dload firmware released for VOG-L0J .
For info about how to install GMS, use YouTube or xda P40 Pro thread:
1. YouTube - link 1 / link 2 or just search for How to install GMS on Huawei P40 Pro
2. P40 Pro xda thread - https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...uide-method-to-install-google-mobile-t4120143 or https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p40-pro/help/gms-method-t4163345

hi. SilviuO. thank you !
I got a VOG-L0J 9.1.0.136(C341) firmware now.
then I will downgrade to it then upgrade to EMUI10 again.
because I want to find out why google auth failed . before I did factory reset ,everything was ok.
is there risk for it?
thank you again.

If you have an dload firmware for EMUI 9.1 and you will flash it, there's a BIG problem: YOU WILL GET YOURSELF A SOFTBRICKED DEVICE! The only way for you to rollback to EMUI 10 and then to EMUI 9.1 is through HiSuite and by using the right firmware for your device. I know that there's none released, so unless you get yourself (maybe from a Phone Service Center) a dload firmware EMUI 10 or EMUI 10.1 for VOG-L0J to use it, then you'll need to use your device AS IS ?.
Hope you haven't used the EMUI 9.1 firmware untill now and you get to read this before
