Adopted storage is definitely a wierd implementation, apps still need to support sd storage before they will sucessfully install on sd card. You can format sd as portable storage and still store pictures, etc on card. In my opinion if Android is giving you the option to format a card as internal, then all apps and data should be able to transfer to sd, rather than only apps coded for sd.

I use adoptable storage in mixed mode (50/50 % of my 64gb) 32 for expanded internal and 32gb for portable storage.

Store apps on internal storage instead of SD?

I'm tired of my SD card getting corrupted. Is there a way to install apps to internal storage instead of the SD card? Is there a simple hack to fool Nook into thinking the internal is the SD card? Thanks!

There is a setting in CM7 to do that. By default it is "automatic" meaning the app decides where to go. You can change it to card only or internal only.
Some apps, even installed in the internal memory, for some reason, it REQUIRES the external uSD card installed in order to work. Other way to say is: some apps won't work if no uSD card plugged in.

[Q] Can we swap the internal and external SD cards?

I want to use my external microSD 32GB memory card for internal, because I need more gigabytes for my applications.
I don't like the method of App 2 SD.

[Q] How to move Apps/Games from USB Storage to SD Card

Hey XDA members, just now i install NFS Most Wanted for my SGSA which take up to 2GB. it was pretty smooth for SGSA. but then i realize that after moving the game using App2Sd, it move from Internal memory into USB Storage instead of SD Card. now my internal remain untouch at 1.21GB, but it take 2GB from the USB Storage which leave only 220mb left instead of my 16GB SD card with 8GB free space. i also detect that any app that been moved from internal memory get into USB Storage instead of my SD card. is there any way to move Apps/Games to the SD Card(not USB Storage, the 8GB/16GB that come with the phone)? maybe theres an app or manual method to move them to SD Cards.
my SGSA:
-JellyMod4.0
-CoCore E5.6.2
-CrossBreeder 3.15.13
current storage status:
internal = 1.97GB, free 1.21GB
USB Storage =3.92GB, free 220mb
SD Card = 14.62GB, free 7.32GB
you can swap usb with sdcard (then mobile memory = sdcard) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36530952&postcount=1011 or try use apps like mountstorage (some app dont work)

[Q] Moving app data from internal sd to external

Hi! I have an 8 gb hummingbird, and I wonder if thete a way to move or even install apps or just some apps' data from internal sd to external one. For example, I installed Asphalt and now can't install Real racing because have about 500mb left.
Do I need to make some sdext partition on my sd? Basic sd swap seems like a little extreme and unreliable.
I'm running emmc cm10.1 stable.

You need to go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and read item 4. I have flashable zips there that will swap the internal and external SDs. After you flash it and reboot all new apps data like those game files will get stored on the external SD.

And then I'll need to move all the data from internal to external?
Also "For these swap zips to work, your SD must be formatted to fat32. " I have exFAT 64gb card, so there's a broblem.
And finally does "A 16. Swapping Internal and External Media Storage" from "Nook Color Tips Thread" will work on NookHD?
And what about CWM backups and flahable zips then, how can I backup and install zips from external sdcard?

Yes, you must move old data from internal to external if you want it automatically available to apps.
You will have to reformat it to fat32. Use SDFormatter free on the web.
And no, that nook color technique does not work on the HD/HD+.
And the swap does not effect CWM. But CWM has an option to use the external SD (for both backups and flashable zips).

OK, SDFormatter formats only in exFAT, windows cant format volumes more than 32gb in fat32, so when I find right foematting tool I think it will be all.
Also CWM does not understand exFAT, so FAT32 will solve that problem too.

I'm pretty sure SDFormatter does fat32 unless the 64GB is causing a problem.
Edit: it doesn't.

I have Nook HD +. I used the swap sd card zip. It shows internal storage as ext sd card and my sd card as sd card in root browser. But when I download apps they are all going to my external sd card. Am I doing something wrong? I have stock 2.2 rooted.
Thanks

Isn't that what you want by using the swap? For downloaded items to go to external SD? They would go to internal SD without the swap.
They are only downloaded to external temporarily until installed, then they are put on internal.

Hi there.
After you make your SD card as adoptable storage, you have to go back to the Storage options and choose Move Data.
This will transfer all possible data from original internal phone storage to the new internal SD card storage.
Also have a good look at this awesome adoptable storage tool which enables you to create 2 partitions on the SD card, one for adoptable internal storage and the other partition for normal SD external storage allowing you as normal to use it to store music, pictures, videos, etc.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/auto-formatting-sdcard-to-internal-t3583875/page23
Alternatively if you are a root user, have a look at this amazing app which will allow you to link nearly all apps to your SD card and therefore free up most of your internal phone storage.
I personally bought the Pro version from Google Play because it is that good!

Enjoy!

If you have rooted phone you could partition your sd-card to ext4 and fat32(this partition works as normal memory card).
Then you could download app like Apps2sd or link2sd and link(move) apps into the ext4 partition of the sd-card.

Download Apps2sd https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.co.pricealert.apps2sd&hl=en
1. select link apps
2. Create mount script
3. Reboot
4. Link apps to sd card
Also 30GB is probably way more than you would need. Probably 2-10GB would be enough.
ok so it is better to use 10 gb for the ext4 ?
i have some question only one partition will be shown in the settings is it right ? alsow i have some trouble how i formate correc.t i have usen mini partition have made partition with fat32 and one with ext4
but when i look at apps2sd formating tool there will be 3 partitions created. one partition have name SWAP Partition. Do i need this ?
and is this tool : https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/auto-formatting-sdcard-to-internal-t3583875/page23
agood way to formate ? or is my way with mini partition manager alsow good ?
and with mini partiton manager i made all partitions as primary is it okay ?
i have used this tool https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/auto-formatting-sdcard-to-internal-t3583875 then 2 partitions will be shown but not with the correct size ii habe a 64 gb sd card but my smartphone shows 40 gb and 35 gb Oo
