i suffered that alot when i was new to rooting and flashing, just try flashing a new stock firmware back to the phone from samfirmwares.com and see how you go,
actualy pre rooted firmware
firmware http://www.multiupload.com/YY0JBMUWBF
csc file http://www.multiupload.com/NRVCK6KYWD
512 pit file http://www.multiupload.com/I5WICSBFJ1
see how you go with that, although u may need to manually add youre providers apn settings in after though
Regarding the icon: flash the bootloaders(boot & Sbl) and a working kernel
Thanks for the posts ...fliptechnologies do i use odin to flash them files ? where does the firmware go ?(pda?). Does anyone know if anyone with the same problem has made a guide by any chance ?
thanks
there are apps which help you root your phone using adb
like SuperOneClick you might want to try it, or using a firmware with root as suggested
there is also an app which can be installed in your phone to root ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953)
but first you need to get a firmware in order to install that app
get an stock ROM like 2.2 froyo or 2.1 eclair, then try with the app

Flash Failed and Black only download mode

Hi developers,
This is my first post, so if I am posting in a wrong section please forgive me. I have Ace 5830i (DDLF1).
For using the Deodexed ROM by rajrocks. I planned to flash the DDLA1 firmware. I downloaded the single package PDA file and the Odin from this post :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552792
I connected the mobile with laptop in download mode and got yellow box in Odin, selected the PDA file and Clicked on Start. But I got the following error:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now the mobile is working fine as usual, but it's not going to download mode. Whenever I am trying to go into download mode by pressing VOLUME UP + VOLUME DOWN and POWER key, LCD light glows up with a blank black screen. Now how can I flash and how to recover the download mode?
Is anything I am doing wrong ?
I have followed the steps mentioned in the above link.
Please tell me how can I recover the download mode and flash.
Thanks
It happnd to me as well. Try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1822109

Is there a some kind of changelog we can look at..?? It will be great to have a little better stock ROM after so long..!
P.S. Is this some kind of value pack or basic stock ROM just different region?
Any way to see the changelog?
maybe it has 3.0 kernel lol ok its a joke keep calm xD
Some apps are updated and the footer of touchwiz is now fully transparent. Dont remember XWKTN. I think footer had a black background or semi transparent.
Using this firmware for 2-3 days.
i am too lazy to follow that odin installation...wish we had mobile odin support from chainfire :/
Not more changes in rom
Just 1-2 changes..
But thanx for link
Well if they had put something like tw4 i would consider to flash it XD

Does this update require agreeing to the ridiculous TOS they have implemented? I'm considering changing from StockPlus, but think it's completely ridiculous that they should require my signing a draconian TOS over 6 months after I started using it.
Is someone be able to disable it from the Rom? Which of course is a huge breach of the TOS if they signed it already. The way they have implemented the TOS is probably illegal, but I certainly don't have the money to challenge it.

Good tip, this still works with 1.2.771.

Wipe all my information and returns to OF3.
The phone is absolutely new, not rooted and has around 9.89 GB free space. Me Baseband version is: G900AUCU4BOF3
What could be the problem, and how to solve it?
Finally everything is OK, after a few days of trials and errors. I used Android ADB sideload with the same file (OF3toPA1) and the update installs without any problems. Now I am on Baseband version: G900AUCU4CPA1.

Can you please provide the installation instructions, I'm wanting to perform the same operation. I downloaded the OF3toPA1 zip file, but what do I need to do next? By the way PA1 doesn't require root right?

Check this link: http://www.livingandroid.info/install-custom-rom-adb-sideload/
You will need to install the Android SDK: http://www.livingandroid.info/install-android-sdk-adb-fastboot-tools/
Not needed root.
Same Problem
I'm having the problem that AT&T doesn't say there are any updates available (I'm on G900AUCU4BOF3), I can't find the G900A_OF3toPA1_OTA.zip file you mention.
Where can I get this file?
Thanks!
So, I just did the update from OF3 all the way to MM. the EASIEST way to do this is via ODIN because you need the new BL. I used the guide in the general section here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/general/galaxy-s5-android-version-6-0-1-t3419016
in 1st post, click show content for Stock Firmware, then click show content for Below PA1 or on PA5. follow the steps provided there. worked like a Charm first time for me. I was on rooted OF3.
