Well if you want to stay with samsung then you should look into the s7 edge. I am going to try and drag this out until I can preorder the lg v20. I will probably go a week with no phone but I will manage.

Hey thanks man.... so is Samsung discontinuing the note then

I'm in the V20 camp as well. The only thing that makes me nervous is if I hold out for the pre-order I'm worried they'll stop allowing the returns. Has anyone gotten a word on how long they're allowing the returns for? I love this phone but the stigma around it has me over the whole thing sadly.

I have the same concern. I am going to attempt to get a loaner phone from t-mobile so I can return my note 7 asap in case they stop the returns.

I don't understand what's the rush? If there's a recall you can return your phone any time, there isn't a return window.

Right now this is a voluntary return and not a mandatory recall. If things comes out to be the worst then there will be another mandatory recall. So why not wait to see what happens before doing anything?

We don't know yet. Samsung's wordings seems to show that they will be resuming manufacturing of the Note after setting up better QC. But they can change plans very quickly at this point in time. So we don't really know what is going to happen at this point in time. If they are discontinuing the Note at this early point in time then there will be a mandatory return type recall.

I don't know if you are joking or not. But if you are not joking then your Note will be the first confirmed China made T-Mobile Note 7 to have this problem. Would like to know if this is true.
If you want to return then either Samsung 7 edge or LG V20. Samsung 7 Edge can use the Gear Fit2 and Gear VR.

I was using my gear vr with my dji phantom 3 pro. Flew for maybe an hour and 20 mins removed the note7 from the head set and noticed the two bubbles instantly I thought dead pixels but turned the device off and they were still there and the fact that color still shows through the spots tells me it's bubbling

I can't tell if that is a pixel issue or glass separating from screen issue. Either case has nothing to do with battery over heating. This is not from over heating battery problems.
Regardless which one is the issue these are warranty issues and can return (under T-Mobile's new return policy for Note 7) or exchange. If want to exchange under warranty then you can return device and get a loaner phone from T-Mobile to use until new Notes start manufacturing again or wait for recall. That is unless you want another device then take advantage T-Mobile's return new policy for the Note 7 and get another device.
Again: This is a manufacturing defect and not an over heating battery issue.

Delete delete

I just contacted T-Mobile on their twitter help page. Apparently they don't have a return window for the replacement units either. So if for any reason you're not confident in the phone, you can take it in for a refund and exchange. It is a voluntary return at this point and not a recall, but they will allow a full refund outside the 14 day window for the foreseeable future. So we should be able to hang out to our phones until the v20 comes out from what I understand.

Excuse me.... I don't want to just return out of the 14 day window... personally love the note series I've had the 3,4,5,and now two 7s my 4 was rooted running overdrive n5 port till I could buy the note 5........ And this has to do with battery overheating because if it wouldn't have gotten hot the adhesive wouldn't not have bubbled..... as there was no issue before........... I really wish I would have just kept the v1 note 7 since mine was a China model with no issue

Its more of a confidence thing at this point. The phone has this black cloud over it (metaphorically). I'm tired of the jokes and the Note 7 memes popping up everywhere and co-workers asking if the phone has blown up yet. I know the chances of the phone burning up are slim to none, but now I'm paranoid and constantly checking to make sure the phone isn't heating up. I love the phone, but it's rapidly becoming a love/hate relationship to the point I'm starting to resent the damn thing, as dumb as that sounds. If people want to keep their phones, more power to them. I'm just frustrated and over the whole thing.

Is anyone going to return the phone because of possible recall?

Hi,
Was wondering what people think of the recall. Seems like if they do do a recall, we would have to ship the phone in for a week at least. This would be very inconvenient and I'd rather just return the phone now before 14 day t mobile policy.
Any thoughts on if Samsung would give a freebie or maybe just give a new phone somehow? Otherwise, returning the phone seems to be the best idea and buying it again after the issue is "fixed"
Any idea if t mobile will make us pay 50 dollar restocking fee on this?

I would say if you're not havingany issues there is no need to return unless you're worried of future issues. I won't be returning because I have no issues and my phone was manufactured 2 weeks ago. Also tmobile will not charge rsf

I didn't grab the 7, decided to wait for whatever the Nexus will be because really, tho the note series has always been pretty good locked up and knox not being able to be reset later for full functionality has finally turned me off, with that said tho, if you have a note 7 by all means exchange it. It's in no way worth a gamble, whose to say what could happen if it caught fire, exploded or whatever. Your safety or your families is nothing to take a risk with and saying it has been fine so far is just plain stupid. Everything and everyone will always say it was just fine until it's not. If something was to happen and someone hurt and you knew about the issue yet ignored it you are pretty much a piece of *[email protected]# in my opinion. Samsung would not issue a recall and face the negative press unless it was something they truly deemed necessary.

This is exactly what I was thinking. I've had no issues with this phone and have loved it so far, but I'm not going to take the chance of not sending back a possibility defective phone. Of course there isn't any signs of issues right now, but just my luck as soon as the recall period ends my phones will explode. I will be calling T-Mobile today or tomorrow to see what our options are because I'm not going a week or two without a phone. Everyone should return their phone and it should be a no brainer
If anyone is planning on selling their Note 7 down the road I would exchange it.
People on ebay will want to know if its one of the "fixed" units
Well my 256 GB card just showed up. They're not recalling that bad boy. Maybe go with something unlocked I guess.

Samsung acts fast and announces a recall on all Galaxy Note 7s because of potential battery issues. And Apple doesn't give 2 $#!%$ about the owners of iPhone 6 and 6 Pluses with Touch Disease who can barely if at all use their phone.
if there is a recall i will go back to my note 5 I loved that phone
I have my old Note3 as a back up (just replaced the battery so kids can still play on it and now it works and looks like new), so no big deal at all for me., so whatever they do I don't care much, I just hope it's a misunderstanding and despite being worldwide, only Korean made Notes 7 will be recalled (can't believe all factories produced faulty batts or that they can't track where battery was made) and mine is made China. One thing I'm 150% sure I will be owning Note7 recall or no recall and hell will freeze over before I would return it and switch to some other phones just being released any day now.

I just called them and they said samsung is manufacturing new notes, and in about 2-3 weeks they will call you and you bring your old note in and they just give you the new one, no restocking fee
I have 3 or 4 other phones so will just be waiting to see what our options are.

Looks like you'll have that option.
I just got back from the Tmobile to return my note 7. They gave me the option of another phone instead of the note 7 or just get a phone in the meantime until my new note is shipped in 2-3 weeks. They remburst me for my tech 21 case and screen protector. Which I still get to keep. Also since I Finance the note 7. They will credit me for my first payment of my old note 7. I had the silver returned and ordered the blue Coral. They actually asked which color I would like.
Just called t-mobile. They said they will exchange the phone outside the 14 day return policy.. They will be sending out a mass text message with details on the exchange.
I definitely want a note 7, I don't want to exchange for any other phone except for a replacement note 7. So are they fixing the current phone or are they exchanging them? Waiting a week without a phone is stupid, I hope we get the Option to exchange for a new fixed one
Mine was made china on Aug 6th...its just the Korean variants with the issue correct?

So is note 7 Rom developing coming to am end?

Just wanted to see if devs are still going to be developing for this device with all the issues that are STILL happening apparently. It's such a shame because I absolutely love this phone. TEKs and OVERDRIVE roms looked real promising. I would just to keep a phone for 2 years if of developing is going to die off.
well considering a 2nd recall by samsung will most likely happen within the next few days according to t-mo. i would say the development for the n7 is done period. i got a feeling the n7 won't be back on the market after this either. samsung will probably scrap em all and move on to the s8 or even the note8 which will most likely need to be renamed as this whole thing has literally damaged the notes name.

The Note4 is my daily driver again, took back my replacement Note 7 yesterday.
It's basically got all the functionality where it really matters, the S-Pen.
The other features that were heavily marketed were of no consequence to me.
I definitely notice the difference between the two as for overall performance, but, it's not an awful experience by any stretch.
Throw your ROM of choice on the Note4 & ya got yourself a very comparable experience.

My phone before this was actually a note 4 and the only reason I went to a note 7 was because my phone was stolen. I was running abstrak rom (now discontinued). I'm probably going to see what mm roms they have for it now. Since I have to purchase another note 4, it will probably be on mm and I dont even know if it's rootable. My old note 3 and 4 were excellent phones, it just pisses me off that Samsung stops updates for older phones basically forcing you to upgrade phones. That being said, I'm sure the note 4 will never get a future update.
And, lights out.......

You guys believe a Note 7 V3 will ship with rootable firmware?
I seriously doubt it, we caught a lucky break on this one & some on V2 were left out in the cold w/a phone dead for development.
It's a nice phone without root, Package Disabler apps help a lot, along with a decent Ad Blocker, but, not enough for Round 3 on the exact same phone.
I'll check in on the next iteration, the Note 8,or whatever they'll call it.....

When Samsung has a major fiasco they recall all the product gather all the staff in the court house and destroy the product in front of them and the manager of that department is then banned from the company for life. Korean custom. Not only did the guy lose his job he disgraced his Family for generation to come. Going back to Note 7 the product is being discontinued it was announced in German newspapers today
GREAT!! *sarcasm*
My Note 5 was messing up and I got the 7 for the upgrade.
I'll have to debate this, as mine was one of the ones that wasn't a replacement or recalled. But with no rooting ability, or way to drop back a version to gain root...might have to go back to the Note 5.
I never even attempted to try the software update. I didn't like the stupid green battery icons or grouped notifications. I still have my v2 on original release firmware with updates blocked. I like the phone uprooted but I do not like the current software for it. It's a shame because I love phone otherwise, but without future root to make those small tweaks on the v3, I think I'll wait until I find something I really like. I've always been a Samsung guy that being said I'm not a real Fan of pure Google type phones. For some reason I really like touchwiz (ya I know).

I don't want to give my phone up!!

As I said this will be my second time returning this phone. And right now there's no phone in the market that comes near this phone. I don't know if to return it or what. I'm at a lost here. Sdcard, spen slick and so many more feature.
I feel your pain. Always on display, water resistance, spen. I dont know what else to get.

V20 is the only option but good thing I'll hold on to my baby till it releases.
This whole fiasco almost looks to me like a sabotage or complete incompetence among engineers. Do they actually know what the problem is? Because apparently it is not what they said it was. So what happens if the phone gets stolen or lost?
Ya this phone is just premium in every way. I dont even think a v20 will be as badass as this phone. I'm holding on to mine until some more info is released

There isn't a phone out the van hold an Spen to the Note 7. Anything LG makes is crap. The other iphoney is not anything special. I'm holding on to mine. Samsung hasn't released a statement about halting the note 7. I'll hold on to this phone until I wanna give it up. If it blows up, so be it. That's my choice.

Seems to me this issue started soon after pulling the battery process to their internal plants instead of outsourcing to reputable manufacturers. Looks like it was a corner cutting, cost saving routine. But look how much it's costing them now. Seems they took this process for granted instead of making a quality product they screwed themselves so hard, the note line could be cursed. The upcoming S8, I won't be an adopter, watch everyone else get burned just like we are now.
Yea I plan on holding on to mine too. I been thinking all day what phone could I replace it with and I literally came up with nothing. I got a few cases on the way, 256 gb sd card is on the way, gear vr on the way ????

Discontinued

What if I kept the Note 7 for say... 6 months. Could I still return it?

And get a full refund?
Say i waited til the s8 or Note 8. Could I return it then for a full refund?
If it becomes an official recall, yes. Do you want to take the chance that they'll disable the phone?
Try it and see.
Been talking to tmobile and samsung chat.
This is looking very ugly.
Samsung says the refund and $100 bill credit will end. It has an end window.
Meaning if the note 7 is return outside of this window. You will not be refunded the price of the phone.
Tmobile says that they wont have s7 edge in stock until Nov-Dec.
They also wont let you get a loaner phone. You must exchange your phone for another phone one and that ends that.
So if we keep are phones and samsung kills them off. Lets says Jan 2017 they kill off the phone (nagging update, samsung app, market not working etc..) And give you a deadline for Feb 2017 to return the phone and you dont. Then your be left with a brick that tmobile wont give you any money for in exchange.
So i really thing samsung needs to get sue here. Because this makes no sense.
They want you to return the phone but there arent making enough replacement phone (s7 edge seems to be the best replacement)
Then they are going to make a deadline for the exchange.
The Lady in the chat says that they havent said anything about it yet. But it is in the works.
If Samsung disable the Note 7 through software, then you will have to root it and flash a Tom. Which is what I do will all of my Samsung devices anyway.

This is looking very ugly.
Samsung says the refund and $100 bill credit will end. It has an end window.
Meaning if the note 7 is return outside of this window. You will not be refunded the price of the phone.

Not what my T-Mobile store said. They told me to keep the note as long as I'd like saying that it's better than jump because you could turn it in at anytime you want and wait for a better phone to come out. Liability says they can't just block you from returning the phone.

Yes tmobile said you can hold on to it.
Samsung is the one who said, they will put a deadline on the exchange and bill credit.
Tmobile only knows what samsung tells them.
So while tmobile say keep it and all is fine. Samsung can put a dead line on the return and screw all that up.
Also samsung can not just kill the phone but they can pull all support. So you lose samsung pay, store etc...
Also naging messsge to return the phone (like they did with the v1)
And they said that outside the US they slow down charging speeds and max charge percent.
This is all stuff they can do in an update.
True you dont have to take the update but they will probably do this in the furtrue.
I love the phone and would love to keep it. But if they kill off all support or mess me up on money then i gotta exchange it.
But as of now the way things are going is im going to have the phone until Jan cause there no s7 edge in stock and it would seems that samsung is making more s7 vs making the s7 edge.

That was uncalled for and a wasted post.
Thanks for the info guys.
I may just keep it for a while until they have some S7 or S7 Edges in stock. As much as I want to keep it, I just don't think it is worth the hassle.
I still have my Note 5, I may just keep it or maybe have it as a back up if I get the edge or s7

I am not the one you should be apologizing to. It's just irritating when someone puts a post that has no relevance to what is being discussed by every in the thread. If you felt you wasted your time by trying to understand what is going on, you should simply ask or refrain yourself from participating.
Moving on.
Take what each side tells you with a grain of salt. Several reps told me there is no timetable because the phone has been recalled. No matter when you return it they have to take it bask.
I spoke with T-Mobile yesterday and they told me that I had 30 days to return the phone... I will call again to see if another rep tells me differently...

I hope we get some clarification on this some time before the middle of next month. Every day that goes by with no reports of new 'explosions' just makes it harder to let go.

Exactly my thought, when was the last reported N7 flame up? Only thing making me thinking of jumping to the S7 edge is the gear Vr... But not enough to make me want to give up my N7v2...
I haven't heard a single recent problem... Anyone else?

That's what makes me think it was a conspiracy. I've heard some people mention that that Apple people took down the Samsung Giant. I mean really I'm sure there are still thousands and thousands of people with these phones and not one more report. Pretty sketchy to me.

***horrible bad burn in note 9***

Don't know how many note 9 with burn there are but here is mine! Looks terrible! Noticed it for the first time last night when it got pretty dark outside and it is super annoying! I assume Samsung will replace with new one? But I have a whitestone and skinomi on it, I am sure they wont cover those
With some light in room
Pretty much completely dark room
Anybody else experience this or have any ideas?
It looks like to me it's screen burn-in. I don't think you can do anything about it.

If you're still within the one year warranty, complain to samaung through "Samsung +" app and don't mention anything about burn in. Just say my screen doesnt look right. If you're out of the warranty then you're SOL.
Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
I had the same issue a month ago. Samsung won't replace it but they will change the screen. They did that for me, but the issue is coming back again. People need to reach out to Samsung and bring this issue to light. Too many units are doing this now but not enough people are speaking up.
Check out the Note 9 screen burn in thread and you'll see other users, including myself, who have pics posted of the same issue.
Sorry about your phone... Reach out to Samsung asap and make sure to send them picture evidence of your issue when you send in your phone. The more people to complain, the more likely Samsung will probably decide to replace these defective units.

That close? That shouldn't happen. I'd definitely get a factory replacement from Samsung. I doubt that your carrier would return it because it's been a while.

Yeah, that's not even two months. Burn ins will never happen in two months unless you make them happen on purpose. Just contact Samsung. They will replace it. They have an app called samaung +. Use it. They're very helpful.

yeah i mean i use it daily and average about 2-3 hours of screen on time and nothing intensive or static images that would cause burn in. Do i just return for refund and buy a new phone or try a new note 9 again? I mean is this going to happen in a month or two again??

Talk to a rep on the app. They're very good. I'd get a new one for a replacement from them. Make sure it's not a refurb. O doubt they'd give you a refund. Burn ins dont happen that soon. You literally need at least two years of the same screen layout and same things done everyday. I've been using oleds since Samsung released them on their first note and I've never had any burn in. And yours actually doesnt even look like a burn in to be honest. It looks a screen uniformity issue.

Your phone has a screen problem, not a burn in. Burn ins are shadows of things you have on your home screen, like your status bar and icons. This is nothing like that. This is an issue with your screen and they'll give you a replacement. Just make sure to present your proof of purchase such as your receipt and all that jazz and you'll be fine.

I agree that it is a screen uniformity issue or something odd. I have every note since the note 2 and never seen this and all of those were used a year and never had a problem. My nav bar isn't "burnt in" which is weird because it is always up and dark
and i have been talking to a rep on samsung+ and sending photos and troubleshooting for him, seems very nice and helpful so far

It's basically going to be a new phone. They will keep the mother board and camera from the old phone and put it in a new body.
So new body and new battery.
At least that is how they handled every report of burn in on the Note 8.
If they send you to a UBreakIFix it is about a two hour turn around..

That's UbreakIFix's statement. Its as water resistant as a new one out of the box.. That's part of why they dont just replace the screen.
