SM-T813 (Wi-fi) not working with Xbox 360 controller - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
From yesterday I own a new tab s2 9.7. But I noticed that my xbox 360 controller is not working with USB OTG cable, is this a normal thing?
The problem is not the cable since keyboard, mouse and USB pen works perfectly on it.
Thank you for your help
EDIT: Tried with PS4 Controller and is working, so I assume that I should root my tablet to get the Xbox controller working. With ASUS Gamepad there is need to root the device?

Not working on my T713 either. Lights come on but no response.

I'm late to the party but it appears Samsung has compiled support in the kernel out. I'm recompiling for the T713 shortly with CONFIG_JOYSTICK_XPAD enabled in the defconfig. If it works here I'll compile for the T813
This is evident by the fact that it works on LineageOS.

Has anybody had luck with OTG controllers?

Specifically, has anyone had luck with the Xbox One controller? I heard it worked, so of course I went out and bought a controller mount and a couple OTG cables. But of course, it doesn't even begin to work. I'm wondering if there's something I'm doing wrong -- I'm connecting the OTG cable to my phone, plugging a micro USB cable into the USB 2.0 female end of the OTG cable and plugging that into my controller.
I know it works with PS3 controllers -- I don't want a PS3 controller, though. Nor do I want to buy a new controller, especially a wired Xbox 360 controller. Any ideas?

In order for a device to "work via otg", that device needs to be supported by other software running on the device, including a kernel driver (probably not present), and sometimes a userspace driver (definitely not present).
In a brief google search, it seems that the driver you are looking for may be called something like "xpad" or "xboxdrv". The latter has a kernel AND userspace component, both of which are NOT installed on your phone.
If you want to make it work, you will need to recompile the kernel with the necessary driver built in, AND build the userspace driver (may not even be trivial to compile this).
no idea about the xbox one controller but a wired 360 controller works with my nexus 6 and 10, i can navigate through android and i can map keys with drastic ds emulator which is what i use it for, dont know about other game

PS2 Keyboard and Mouse with Nook HD+?

Not sure if this would be the right forum, but I'll try anyway.
I've rooted my Nook HD+ and now I'm running CyanogenMod 10.2.1. and managed to connect some USB devices(a mouse for instance), which work fine. However, I want to use a keyboard and since, at the moment, I don't have a USB one, I tried connecting a PS2 keyboard, using a USB to PS2 converter. The lights on the keyboard turn on, but the keyboard itself isn't working. I tried a PS2 Mouse as well. Again, it lights up, meaning that it is receiving power from the tablet, but you can't actually use it! So, what exactly is the problem here? When I did have the chance to use a USB mouse and keyboard, they worked fine. It's not an Android thing either. Apparently you can connect a PS2 keyboard and mouse to a Nexus 7, running Android 4.2 and they'll work just fine. I don't think it's because of the Nook's hardware, considering that the devices do turn on, when you plug them in. The USB to PS2 converter also isn't the problem, because the keyboard and mouse work fine, when I plug them into the PC. I suppose CyanogenMod doesn't have drivers for PS2 devices? If that's the case, is there any way I could find and install some? If an older version of Android could handle them, I don't see why this OS shouldn't.
Thanks.

i tried it with ps3 controller it doesn't seem to work
At this point I believe the s2 tab simply does not have the USB drivers to run a wired gamepad/mouse etc. Thus Bluetooth exclusively.

My Senze controller can play asphalt 8 and MD5

Xbox Controllers - Wired

Hi All,
I've been working through trying to get my pads to work with the Tab S6 today with no luck, this is what i've tried:
Xbox Controller for Windows (own cable) with 2 x adapters (one adaptor powered)
Xbox One Controller with 2 different cables and 2 x adapters (one adaptor powered))
None of the above have worked, i've spoken to Samsung through twitter and they've basically said that the wired xbox controllers are incompatible (apparently there are other controllers out there) and that I should try another brand or use a bluetooth one. Cracking customer service for a "premium" tablet...:good:
So, little heads up for anyone else that might be looking online for guidance, from what I can see, it doesn't work.
Yeah I tried a wired one with no luck. The Bluetooth Xbox controller works perfectly
I found this thread while searching for the same but with PS3 (DS3) controller..
It's really, really annoying... When I connect it to my Galaxy S9+, it works perfectly, but if I connect to my Tab S6 it just barely recognizes maybe one joystick.....
WHY IS THAT?!!!! Same brand, same version of Android, newer device, less support for accessories?!
Just got my Tab S6 about a week ago, and then a USB C to microUSB OTG cable (no adapter needed) two days ago. Was hoping to make this my stream from consoles (PS4 and Xbone), possible primary Stadia stream as well as a semi-work device (I take a lot of notes, paperless is better!) in addition to emulation, reading books and watching shows/movies. I have a series one Xbox Elite controller (no Bluetooth) and wow, what a let down. Plugged the controller in, it vibrates and then... Nothing. Since it's a series one my only hope was a wired setup. Like OP I have contacted Samsung and their response was it was a feature that was removed (acknowledging that it works on other Samsung products) and still could be added in the future but gave no indication if that was something that would happen and certainly not a timeframe for it. Complete bummer, not feeling like dropping the extra cash right now for a series 2 right now.
However... I found mention of a little app on the Play Store called USB OTG Checker. So I checked it out and viola, the Tab S6 has OTG and the checker app even recognized when the wired Xbox controller was plugged in! So not a hardware issue, strictly software. Anyone more savvy than I know of a work around to get around Samsung's boneheadedness which actually seems to be blocking the damn thing from working?
It's fixed!
The new Android 10 update has enabled the use, I've tried an xbox one with micro USB and a wired xbox pad.
Happy Days!
I can also confirm that the wired Xbox 360 controller with micro USB works too!!
has anyone tried other brands, like Logitech, PDP, Razer, Gamesir, etc et? my Tab S6 was the reason i 'upgraded' from my trusty wired gamepad to a flaky bluetooth one

Xbox 360 controller not working through otg

After receiving an otg cable I ordered, I connect a wireless mouse with a dongle and it worked perfectly. When I connected my Xbox 360 wireless receiver, however, the controller couldn't connect, instead the ring kept flashing. The controller is already linked to the receiver btw. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Hi, did you got the controller working? I have the same problem.
Can't get Xbox One or Xbox 360 controllers working with otg adapter, but i connect other devices without any problem like keyboard and mouse.
Any help??
