FAQ
Q:How to make Android Wear work with this ROM?
A: In Performance Settings use the build.prop editor to set ro.build.type=user, then reboot and you can install Android Wear. Thanks @redandr for figuring it out. Fixed in 7.1.1 build.
Q: What is it that makes your ROM unique?
Am I seeing this right? There is basically three times the same ROM now?
Click to collapse
A: That is a an oversubtle statement. Actually, it is correct that I have used portions from the initial Pure Nexus code base (Build, Framework and PureSettings) from September to help me get started with creating this custom ROM. I don't have plans to make a derivative of the Pure Nexus ROM by copying every little feature from their code base. As stated in the OP my idea of this ROM is to put a limited set of the nicest features, which I personally miss in stock Android OS.
Q: But why change the phone name to PIXEL L?
A: It is a cheat to make the "Google Assistant" work on a non-Pixel device. In order to enable Google Assistant, you are also required to install the latest Google App (6.5.35.21 or newer).
- In addition, you have to download a language pack to allow Google Assistant to use it for speech recognition. Be aware that the "voice recognition" setup is not working -- but it won't prevent the Google Assistant from working. Just skip the voice recognition" setup.
- In order to make the "Google Assistant" launch by long pressing home button, go to Settings > Apps > Configure Apps > Start-App, and select Pixel Launcher as default app.
Q: Is your ROM ready fo daily use?
A: I use this ROM for more than 4 weeks, and I didn't experience any crash, soft reboot or other issues. If you happen to find an issue or something weird, please leave your feedback.
Known issues:
*Video recording with the built-in Snap cam on 1080p produces a flickering video file -- however video playback on Full HD is working nicely.
*Good news! You can make a flawless video recording by using Google Camera 4.1.
*In case that you have dirty flashed a newer version of the ROM, it is very likely that googles apps are FC'ing (e.g.: calendar, maps, notes, google app, etc.) -- the only way to get this fixed is to uninstall and re-install the affected apps
*In rare cases, e.g. while using resource hungry apps like google maps, it could occur that the app hangs up and as a results your touchscreen becomes unresponsive. You will be able to hold down the power button to bring up the power menu, but you are not able to tap on it.
-> WORKAROUND: hold down the power button for a few seconds to forcefully shut down your device. it seems to be a bug in googles nougat code: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/WjTOVNSc69k
Feature Requests:
In case that you are missing a super awesome feature, and you think it could be a great addition to this ROM, then please use the Feature Requests category in the menu bar of this thread to submit your inquiries. Thanks in advance!

Is that lockscreen lag issue still there like all N roms for Mako? (Sometimes you have to swipe multiole times to unlock the device and at first it doesn't swipe at all, and same for notifications on lockscreen) @spezi77 this is not a bug report just a little question. And thanks for the rom. İt has everything I need. Thanks again for your efforts. And will you merge r14 or another instead of r6?

Downloading now!

Some info for everyone to know:
The Google's October patches screwed up the smoothness of the notification panel, like really badly. When you try to expand a set of grouped/bundled notifications, you'll notice a stutter. It gets annoying every time you try to do that. So the conclusion is that the "7.0.0_r14" patches are way worse than "7.0.0_r6" where the same scenario is buttery smooth, or at least close to it. So if you see "7.0.0_r6" in the description, it's because it's for the best.
So to answer the above question: no the stutter in the notification panel is not there because spezi didn't upgrade to r14, which is the best thing cause r6 is better.

Am I seeing this right? There is basically three times the same ROM now?

This rom can record video in 1080p?

You're actually wrong. The ROM started from a PN base but Spezi has "detached" from it. It's gonna pack more features and it will be as polished as possible considering that the dev is the owner of the phone he's developing for. So while PN has a set of features, NeXus4ever will have more and probably a lot different or similar, etc. But it's not PN, not anymore.

Video playback on 1080p is flickering while 720p is doing good. Other than that it is buttery smooth.

Unbelievable man:good:

I cant find system ui tuner anywhere :/

But why change the phone name to PIXEL L?
Can u put the Night Mode Button? This is a great feature! Please!

Because that's the onyl way to make the "Google Assistant" work on a non-Pixel device.

Confirmed. Could you please check what is the situation when you watch the 1080p video on your PC?
Currently, I don't know what went wrong. I have used the set of patches by @zaclimon. Maybe there is a commit that was forgotten by me or not pushed to his github..

General Info & Introduction
Android Open Source Project: Or in short AOSP. Android is an open-source software stack created for mobile phones and other devices. The Android Open Source Project (AOSP), led by Google, is tasked with the maintenance and further development of Android. Many device manufacturers have brought to market devices running Android, and they are readibly available around the world.
Rooting: Android rooting is the process of allowing users of smartphones, tablets, and other devices running the Android mobile operating system to attain privileged control (known as "root access") within Android's subsystem. Rooting is often performed with the goal of overcoming limitations that carriers and hardware manufacturers put on some devices, resulting in the ability to alter or replace system applications and settings, run specialized apps that require administrator-level permissions, or perform other operations that are otherwise inaccessible to a normal Android user.

Thank you for this ! Always nice to see AOSP Roms for SGS3.
Question, why can't I install from ext-sdcard, but instead need to install from internal sdcard and even then not in any folder? Just asking because I want to learn.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I should be more specific in the future.
I was refering to the phrase in the installation instructions "Drag the downloaded two zips to the root of your storage (and not in any folder)."
I always install from "external sdcard" and this phrase indicates I cannot do that.
Sorry again for the misunderstanding

There are a lot of similar CM based / AOSP rom with same bugs like the camera touch to focus bug. It cant be fixed because of the missing Sammy source.

No you are alrite. Regarding the instructions I think the op wanted to make it universal for all s3 users if u hv an ext card or not.Secondly if u try to flash through rom manager you wont be able to select the zip if its located on the external card. Moreover it saves the hassle for noobs like me.
U can install from external sd card from within the recovery and I did the same

I believe there is no Fix for the camera,
Because its due to some source missing from Sammy there is no workaround,
On Temseaks thread he does have a "Restart Camera apk" so when you do get the bug "Cannot connect Camera" or something you use the apk and then the Camera will work fine again till it messes up
As long as you just long press the photo button with the flash on, then release the button it usually takes pictures fine with flash

Any plan to add DPI per app control? What's the add that makes the network speed shown at the notification bar?
So far im impress with this rom,performance/battery life..thanks devs

If you can't see the other toggles, just go to settings > rom settings > quick toggles > toggles style and change it to traditional than go back and go to toggle setup and ad the toggle you want. After doing that go and change the toggle style to tiles again.

About Us:
Dirty Unicorns is a project that started out with no name. It was a project that was first created based off AOKP back in the early days of Jelly Bean because of curiosity. In the early days, it was just a one man show on one device (EVO 3D). However, many others have joined the project since and it has grown a lot. We have seen a wide variety of talent contribute to this project of ours and many of our contributors have gone on to help other projects, and that is ultimately why we do what we do.
Once Jelly Bean was over, we decided in Kitkat to move to a new base, which was OmniROM. While AOKP was fun, OmniROM proved to be even more exciting because it challenged us to see what we could with something different.
With Lollipop, we have moved to an AOSP base with a lot of patches from CAF to make our older devices function as they should. With that said, it has been an awesome learning experience and it's still not over! We are still learning every day and continue to move forward.
Few more things we will say is that we don't accept nor ask for donations. We don't believe in that. Everything that is necessary to keep this project going is out of our own pocket. Gerrit, Jenkins, Websites, Devices, etc.....
All we do ask is that you search, read and try to enjoy the process with us!!

Always nice to 'ear a voice from 'ull, but I feel Z1 doesn't stand much chance ATM. I don't think anybody from the team owns the device, sorry.
Intercourse, limited to 8 fanx a day strikes again.
Ohhh... Thank god, the KING is back.
Chas, I can't leave with stock Roms while watching you . I can't resist your magic, There is something forcing me to do a full wife as soon as I see your Roms and this disease is stuck with me since the Note 1.:cyclops:
Keep going father and thank u for still being prorting and developing for us.
And plsssss people don't start asking stupid questions about the battery life, what kernel to flash and which gapps.....etc, keep it simple and clean.

When and if you do bring the rom to z1 I'll be there ready to go
Nice to hear from you hope all is well
No custom Nav ring targets and secure settings doesn't seem to detect expanded desktop mode.
Both features are very important to me, if possible try to add them, thank you.
Loving the smoothness
PS: Secure settings is not a app related problem since it works on all roms except Vanir and now DU.
Tried everything FC, re-install etc also notified app dev but it seems to be ROM related.
EDIT: 2g/3g toggle doesn't seem to work.
Tried this out, not as smooth as other roms since there seems to be micro stutter when scrolling around menus and apps, but other than that it seems to be stable. Lots of customization options but no theme support. Some force closes on boot but disappear after a while, nothing major. Battery life seems to be great so that's always good.

Let the ROM settle and enable some , but not all of the init.d tweaks.
Also have a play with the animation settings. For me the ROM is very smooth

Are those able to flash coming from a Sense rom and firmware 4.16.401.10? Or do they have to convert and get firmware right?

Wipe and flash again perhaps. Probably not related, but try banks gapps, if you didn't already.
Otherwise, not sure what's happening. I took a few today to test the camera.

Glad to see u over here. DL now
So, the stock camera (for me) is iffy and sometimes shows the focus and that will indicate a pic can be taken. Other times, the focus indicator is not there and I am unable to take a pic. I downloaded the Google Camera and it works every time so it's all good. Will take this for a little spin. Good stuff - thanks.

NOTES - MUST READ
1. All credits goes to @Grarak for making the sources. I've only built the rom using his sources. Also I've been able to build by using Google Cloud platform since my PC is crap... It took me 1h 30m to build with Google Cloud platform, while with my PC was still building after 7h of building and then got an error regarding my PC (was too slow or out of memory).
2. You dont have to flash root because it is included.
3. Don't use encryption. I don't know why, but Grarak mentioned this on his twitter at the last build for CAN-L01.
4. RR team has abandoned the development of MM version, so there wont be any other release unless there are fixes / improvements for LOS 13.
5. Few screenshots are attached at the end of this post.

Requirements
- Huawei Nova CAN-L11
- Android 6.0 (EMUI/LOS). I've flashed it successfully from EMUI 5 ( Android 7.0) too and I didn't encounter any problems.
- Unlocked bootloader ( here's a guide about how to unlock it)
- TWRP by @Grarak. I've been on his TWRP while flashing the ROM. I don't know if it works with other TWRP.

Let me know if you can flash it on your CAN-L01 or other Nova model.
On Can l01 works perfect.I Need to enable dt2w
Was going to try you CM (erp, I mean lineage) build but will do this instead (I mean no ill intent there). I have looked into it and it seems there is very little difference between all of the devices. The Chinese models simply have more memory. I will post back results.

Were you on MM or Nougat before flash it?
On the RR build I had several issues (was able to work them out quickly). Root is there but some apps do not recognize it (titanium backup in my case). I had issues with gapps, make sure you boot once then install. I did not have time to troubleshoot too much, will try again next weekend. The build seemed solid, it was just a few quirks.

I know, but if I wipe system it should't matter if I was on Nougat, I was more worried about this version of RR working on the MLA-L03 variant.
hi new here on a huawei nova (can-l11, before s2, s4 mini, z1 compact).
i would highly prefer to use resurrecrion rom agains stock lineageOS. tried serveral times but i can't get RR working. lineageos build boots up reliable but RR (if it boots) just time. all >1 tries to restart fails for me.
for all who can use this rom: is the hotlug logic working here? for the latest lineageOS build all cores stay online independent which load and governor.

Did you wipe system, data, cache and dalvik-cache in TWRP recovery before flashing RR? Ive tried RR myself and i didnt had such issue.
The kernel doesnt have any hotplug yet and i dont know if i will add hotplugs. The cores stays online on stock EMUI as well.
so why not? i mean even on 2 (s2) and 4 core (z1c) phones hotplugging allows easily extend battery time about 1/4 till 1/3(!) on static content. like reading mails or news pages on lower display brightness on the way home. there is almost no degrade in performance and hotplug patches are almost standard. easy and highest potential for battery without affecting the performance. but just a suggestion.
I will try rr on the next build again. but yes I wiped everything. interestingly sometimes it booted. if such an lucky install, the next time failed. a intermediate clean of cache and dalvic helped. but that's a pain since the long time of app optimization, e.g. compiling via art.
but again: thank you! so happy that you provide custom roms for us on this lovely phone
I'm not a fan of hotpluggage, but it should be possible to, at least, hotplug big cores, as it is not needed to stay awake all the time where LITTLE could the work. If you could add it to your kernel, I know it would be a great addition.
I didn't try it yet (i have a caz-tl10 device, not can) and maybe I'll try it next week, when I have the time. When I do, I report here.
did anyone got any chainfire supersu build / zip working on the nova?
i use the official lineageos su at the moment. want chainfires supersu since better app compability. e.g. autostarts app is not working with lineageos su but chainfires.

You've flashed LOS SU after you've flashed RR?
As far as I remember, RR comes with SuperSU by default (there should be Settings > SuperSU). I don't remember properly which root it has, as I haven't used RR at all, just tested it a bit.
regarding supersu: sorry wrong thread: i wanted to post at lineageOS 13

That is my thought as well, if your wipe it should not make any difference what version you previously had
BTW Sk8buoy i'm also on MLA-L03 from videotron but i upgraded my phone to Nougat using Rogers MLA-L03C578B335

Does banking apps like hdfc and digilocker works after magisk flash?
I also have some questions for those who have already installed.
Does mirror cast work?
Does double tap to wake work after the screen has been asleep for a while?
everything works fine, but I can not boot in recovery TWRP (when I try to boot to recovery I can only see the TWRP screen flashing)
Update:
Problem solved with TWRP recovery for android 12 from telegram
Please can you post the link or file of the recovery twrp for android 12? Thanks

Is safety net passed by default in this version? The Android 11 version wasn't passed even when the phone wasn't rooted.

You need to enable magiskhide for banking apps in the second tab on the bottom row.

It's weird. I currently have the AEX 12 rom installed.
What annoys me the most is not being able to access folders, it shows the message: "To protect your privacy, choose another folder".
Launcher is also very poor.
The camera too, but it can be replaced by GCam.
The alarm shows a notification before the alarm itself and you can't turn it off.
It is a pity that there is no good custom rom with Android 10.
nvm update,
I removed the user data and idk what was the culprit but its fixed everything is working flawlessly, I haven't checked the fast charging yet but rest is all fine
Also while the always on display the fingerprint sensor doesn't work

Also did you notice that before opening an apps, a large app icon appears in the middle of the screen first?
In android 11 apps used to open without a visible icon.

That is actually Android 12 in nutshell, they changed it, different phones are getting this, my 2 phones and some others as well ig it's a feature or some optimization of Android 12 itself.
P.s. the battery drainage was slightly higher than realme ui 2.0.
