Camera is good in enough light. Low light is passable. In low light it meh. U have got to use Hht mode or manual mode to get a decent photo. Again, still can't compete with the likes of pixels, v20, or s7e.

Screen: I actually didn't know that this phone has "only" 1080p display at first. Had to check to spec sheet. I thought this phone has qhd screen resolution. Texts are crisp. Color seems on the cool side but definitely not as cool as v20 which is too blueish. Saturation and vibrance is spot on IMHO. All in all, the screen is absolutely gorgeous! Especially combined with the almost zero bezel. I actually sold my pixel xl as I can't stand staring it's humongous bezel after using this phone for 3 days.
I don't have a BT HS sorry but I do use BT speaker in my car and one BT B&O play speaker. It sound the same as my previous android phones.
I would definitely recommend people to buy this phone. The only major downside of this phone is that it spoils your eyes so much with its almost bezelles display it makes upgrading to a bezelled phone later feels like a downgrade.

Build quality is good, but VERY VERY VERY slippery. Holding it without a case you can feel it slipping from your hand very slowly. I don't know if the frame is tough enough as I luckily haven't dropped it yet lol. If you do buy it, put it on the provided leather case.
No issues with Lte bands in my country.

By far the best feedback you could give is details not mentioned by all the reviews. Day to day quirks, or just anything you were surprised by (good or bad), or had to get used to

Thank you very much Allesa for your feedback. I do agree with you that this phone is going to spoile many people so it's gonna be difficult to change to anything else.
One thing which makes me sad they make such a beautiful phone and then we have to cover It with an ugly cover so it won't break LOL
One last question about charging time of battery and consumbtion please.

Can you test MSM and do a group text with a bunch of your family or friends? How well does it handle group text, sms and msm.

I think I know the answer to this one, but I'll ask anyway. Mi Mix doesn't natively support wireless charging, but is there any way you could remove the cover and slip one of those 3-coil wireless charging receivers on the battery?

Hmmm I wouldn't do that my friend and don't advis you to do so
أرسلت من HUAWEI NXT-L29 بإستخدام تاباتلك

Charging time pretty fast.. Less than 2 hrs to fill the 4400mah I think..
And battery lasts more than a day with 9-10 hrs of screen on time. Battery definitely better with all miui battery saving features off..

something like that seems like it should work for sure i think

One thing I haven't seen enough of in any of the reviews thus far is pictures taken with the Mi Mix. I would definitely like to see some more pictures, and perhaps some HDR shots too (I have a 6P and almost exclusively use the HDR+ so if this phone shoots well with HDR, then I'd likely do the same) if possible. Also if you can comment on the general speed and fluidity of the camera that would also be great. Are there any shortcuts to activate the camera with the display off, like double-tapping the power button?
Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer questions!

That is exactly what I'm trying to avoid. There is no doubt that'd work, but most people would hate using that - it's external, looks ugly and you have a wire, coming out of USB-C port at all times. I'm asking for internal receiver pad, or at least a phone case, which has such receiver built in, like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CHOE-Qi-Wireless-Charging-pad-with-wireless-Receiver-case-for-iphone-5-5S-5SE-/262672877200

How is the fingerprint reader? I assume unlocking phone is fine. Does it work with apps like lastpass or fingersecurity?

hello seems that you have had this phone for some time now (one of the earlier users here)...a few questions about calling using this phone
1) how is the call quality (talking about using a regular phone next to face-do you have to keep it against face at all times during a call?
2) Can you place the phone away from face and still keep hearing the calls (and others hear you) ...this is without speakerphone in normal call mode?
3) regardless of 1 and 2, what is the in-call sound quality like?
3) and how is the speakerphone?
Thanks!

I've not really seen it mentioned anywhere, while people say the screen quality is great, really vibrant colours etc, I've not seen anyone ask about the Black levels? Can you give us a quick comment on how it looks in this sense? I've used Samsung AMOLED displays for too long and i'm worried i may find this too distracting.

Good BT headset for the Note2?

Looking for a good BT headset. I don't use them much, but am moving to a place that prohibits holding my phone in the car. My primary criteria is good voice functionality. I'd like to be able to do as much as possible without touching the phone, and preferably without touching the earpiece. Call quality should be good, but doesn't have to be best in class or anything. Mono is fine. Keep in mind that I have a very full beard, so the headset can't depend on facial contact.
I've been poring over reviews and just can't make any sense of them, so I thought I'd ask. (Motorola CommandOne seems a decent buy)
Thanks!

Thanks, I had read Vectron's review but decided it seemed more music oriented than call oriented. I'll revisit that.
Edit: Ok, now I remember the problems. It's a beard thing. On me, the mic and controls will sit under my beard. That will make it difficult to use and will probably severely diminish call quality. Darn, looks like a good one, but not worth shaving for.
Didn't have a chance to review this one yet (next to impossible to get review samples), but I heard good things about it and control remote is far away to keep it from your beard http://www.amazon.com/In-Ear-Noise-...UTF8&qid=1366911775&sr=8-1&keywords=a.m.p+iso

I wonder about mic placement on that. I *think* it's in the control unit and is meant to be clipped to your shirt. If so, that means the mic is going to be sitting down on my belly. Maybe too far away? I think I may need to stick with one of the mono units. Jawbone is out due to needing skin contact if I've understood their tech correctly.

After going through a bunch of headsets ( here in Hawaii, cell use while driving is illegal) I found it easier to spend $170 bucks to buy a Kenwood excelon deck with integrated bluetooth. It automatically activated when the car is started.

REVIEW samDock the Apple to Android converter cable with VIDEO SLIDESHOW!

Today we’re looking at the samDock
Click here to see the original review and you'll also find links to purchase.
The samDock is an adapter cable that let's you use Samsung's latest Android phones like the Note 2 with Apple's 30 pin connector to charge or play audio.
Main advantage: affordable, long length, works by simply plugging it in
Main concern: NONE
Unique features: You can use android devices on Apple docks!!!
I've personally wanted a product like this for years, but it just didn't exist. It seems so simple, there are adapters for everything why not one that adapts Apple's useless proprietary connector to work with the much more universal micro USB standard? The good news is that the wait is over, the bad news is that most people don't care at this point unfortunately. We've seen the wide scale adoption of Bluetooth and things like DLNA, Wifi Direct, and mirrorlink. That means that Apple's stranglehold on the accessory market gets weaker and weaker by the day. For a time, it was the law of the land that all of the coolest docking solutions were Apple exclusive. That's just where the money was, so that's where the effort went.
Nowadays wires are a nuisance and wireless is nearly standard. Bluetooth is everywhere and it's in everything. The great news for those of you that dropped your hard earned money on some sort of Apple capable dock is that this is an extremely affordable solution. If you need to use your Note 2 or most any other Galaxy device with an Apple 30 pin dock it's as simple as plugging this wire in. For some phones that's all it takes and you're done. Others will have to go into your settings and enable Audio Output Mode. You'll just check the box that says, "use external speakers when device is docked.” That's all it takes though. Docks big and small, portable or built in. You'll pass through high quality audio and you even retain the ability to charge your devices.
The cable itself is 24” long, 2 feet is long enough to do plenty without feeling tethered to a dock. It comes in black instead of the apple standard white which is a nice little touch of defiance. It worked with every dock that I tested as well as simply attaching it to an apple charging cable. It will work with the Galaxy S 3 and 4 as well as the Note 1 and 2.
Thank you again to CableJive for supplying their product for review.
Alternatives: none that I've seen
How much: 24.95 each at CableJive.com
Is it worth buying: For under thirty dollars, it's worth buying it to just throw it in your bag on the off chance that you find yourself at a friend's house and you need to arrange some last minute karaoke with an iPod alarm clock.
Click here to see some angles of the cable in a video slideshow

Man, please take this as useful constructive advice. Ditch that music that seems to be your trademark.
It's awful and annoying. 10 seconds in on both of your videos and I'm rushing to close the window.
The product isn't getting seen if I'm closing the window because of the 'cute' music.

agreed! 100%!
Another point, people have invested a lot of money into Apple accessories and can take advantage of using it with android phone. But the whole beauty of apple gadgets was docking integration without any need for cables or devices laying on the side. This solution does work, but you kill the look of the setup by not being able to dock your smartphone.

are you guys talking about the very start of every video? The opening with the choir type voices? That's from an everclear song.
Otherwise, for every product reviewed, I pick a song that has something to do with the product or it's name. It's just a fun little touch. So this is the samDOCK so the song is hickory dickory DOCK, which is a child's nursery rhyme. It's just a goofy little added touch and you can always mute and just look at the pictures if the music is bugging you. I was this close to doing a death metal cover of hickory dickory dock but I couldn't find a clear enough recording.
now that I think of it there were a bit of children's songs, they just fit really well. I reviewed a wireless charging dock the other day and I used the song, "I've got no strings" from Pinocchio. "I've got no strings, to hold me down" no wires, wireless charging, you get it. Just a fun little touch.
They aren't always kids songs.
Lol I really think everyone is giving you a hard time because that zip thing you reviewed was just stupid.
I mean really guys no one is forcing you to watch the slideshow, you can always mute and listen to whatever you want if you want to setethe pictures.

I'm interested at this. Can you still use the remote on Bose sound dock to skip and control volumes?
Sent from my SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
Not trying to give you a hard time by any means, it's honestly meant as constructive criticism! I am truthfully trying to be helpful, nothing else! You may not care though, and if what your doing is working for you then I suppose there's no need to change it. I just think your videos would be more professional without some of the music in them, that's all. I did watch many of your YouTube videos! Trying to help out because the more views the better for you. Like the NeatDesk Scanner, that song is just awful! Whether it goes with the product being reviewed or not, I find it very annoying. For the video showing the Otterbox Defender and Seidio Convert cases for the Note 2, I actually really like the song choice! That said though, I still think the video would appear more professional with out the song. Now for the Phillips Hue video, that's a great song choice!! No, not something that I would listen to in my car, but it's like elevator music, simple music with no lyrics. That is very fitting for your videos, and doesn't distract attention from the video whatsoever!! See, I'm not basing this off of what I like or want to hear, just telling you what I think comes off as being more professional. Of course, this is just my opinion. You may not even care what I think or what I have to say. I'm just trying to give you a viewer's perspective, that's all.
Now on to this product! This is something I really need!! My tool chest/box has a CD player and 2 6x9 speakers built in to it! This was one of the selling points to me, not the only one as this tool chest has many unique features not found in any other tool chest, but one of the selling points nonetheless. Coming out of a little slot in the top area of the tool chest/box once the lid has been opened, there is a cable that is tied in to the stereo system in the tool chest. It has an Apple connection on the end of it . Isn't that big of deal, as the CD player also has a 3.5 mm auxiliary jack on it, so I can just use that. I would like to be able to shut the little door that covers the CD player while I'm working though (also has a remote for it), and can't do that with an auxiliary cable sticking out. I do have a 4th Gen iPod Touch 32GB. The remote also allows me to skip songs when it's hooked up through the Apple cable, which is a very nice function!! Obviously the remote can't do anything with my phone, except adjust volume, when it's hooked up through the auxiliary cable. With this adapter/converter you posted here, it would give me the same functionality of my phone as I currently have with my iPod!!
Honestly, using my iPod in the tool chest is basically the only reason I haven't sold it yet! Getting this adapter would be awesome for me! Thank you for taking the time to make this review, and especially for sharing it with this community!! It's greatly appreciated!!

Glad I dont own any Apple docks!
Well,

I like to pick out a song that hints to the product in a some way. I don't give hints in the description and sometimes it's harder to figure out why I'd choose a certain song. It's a little side game and people have contacted me saying that it makes them happy to figure it out. I could just find generic background music, but I'm trying to put in a bit more effort than that. Please mute it if it upsets you.
I've seen some adapters similar to this on ebay for cheap. Not sure if they'll allow data(music is the only thing I want) to pass through though. Anyone try one of the adaptors from ebay or similar? Less than $10, so they're super cheap, but even still I don't wanna through ANY money at them if they'll only charge...

Hi
I'm thinking about creating something along the lines of Grace Digital GDI GSD8200 - in my option would be - (Bose sounddock => cablejive /samDock/ => iGRIP Universal Micro USB Charging Dock ) - mounted on the top of my Bose and use it for my Samsung Galaxy phone
My question is - if micro usb plug from samDock will work with the iGRIP charging dock ? (charging and sound signal) or any micro usb charging dock

GPS - I've used it extensively with Google Maps for driving and turn by turn, just fine.
Gavin would u mind to try something out for me please? Since the aod doesn't work with 3rd party apps like whatsapp etc to display notifications on the always on display, possibly apps from playstore like would work? Like always on amoled beta? Reason why this is bothering me that much is the , i am part of few WhatsApp groups for android and also on telegram, so basically I don't need to wake the screen to see if new messages are in, all comes thru aod, its the biggest concern for me goin from pixel over to mate 20 pro, thanks in advance Gavin if u could spend few minutes and test it out, thank u regards Martin

Can you speak about the headphone volume please. I notice people always talk about loud speaker but reviews rarely ever talk about how loud the phone is in earphones as Huawei phones generally seem to be low in earphones just like Sony phones. If this phone is not loud in earphones then note 9 it is

Can you speak about the headphone volume please. I notice people always talk about loud speaker but reviews rarely ever talk about how loud the phone is in earphones as Huawei phones generally seem to be low in earphones just like Sony phones. If this phone is not loud in earphones then note 9 it is

Hi Gavin,
I have seen your review about the Watch GT.
Please speak about the connection with the Mate 20 Pro.
How about the messages from the phone Gmail, Whatsapp Hangouts etc.
Thanks

Questions for those who have received their 5s early

Obviously, there will be full reviews up from 4pm. In the meantime, could someone let me know how the speakers sound and what the haptics are like? Thanks!

Great, thanks,
Just got the phone today. Coming from a Pixel 2XL with front facing speakers my expectations were not great. It doesn't have the bass and clarity of those on the Pixel 2XL but it is perfectly fine.
I have mine - now fully charged. Ask away .....
The phone feels great in the hand.
Nice and light
Screen very clear
Speakers are loud .... very clear. not very bass'y but not as bad as i was starting to think (obviously just my opinion)
Software very fast
Transfer from old phone very easy
Ive come from a P20 Pro

haptics are nice. the software and hardware all feels slick and premium. if you want loads of bass on your speakers beware (the equalizer in YTM helps a bit) but if you are more interested in clear audio for calls etc, and volume for speakerphone calls then all seems OK to me

Screen uniformity? Any signs of pink/green tints etc?
Not that I can see. It's quite refreshing for a phone to be a little smaller again.
Screen seems very clear. Typing/keyboard much better than my P20 pro.
Dual sim works.
Which is fantastic for me, SO LONG WORK PHONE!!!!
Speaker phone call was great, nice and clear.
Music and YouTube videos are ok, nothing special

Yes I think that's right.
I had an on screen message to say it was limited to 4g ( which both my sims are anyway)

Not that anyone really cares but the iPhone 12 that dropped today also falls back to 4G with dual sim.
