[Problem] Huawei Theme not really applied - Huawei P9 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi there,
I'm using a Huawei P9+ Vie-L29.
I was tempted to Root it and enjoy a new Rom, I only found RayGlobe ROM which gave access to some settings but was not maintained and were no other custom ROMS, so I went back to Stock and locked bootloader again.
After coming back to stock, the huawei Theme Manager says that is applying the theme but in reality it does not change anything.
I already did a full re flash of the VIE-L29C636B170 software, with no success.
Also tried a full phone reset with no success.
I have seen a forum from Mate 8 with EMUI4.1 with a similar problem and a solution that requires Root, but, since Im in stock now it does not apply for me any more.
Do you have any hint or suggestion?
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, faced similar issue previously. You'll need to root your rom and copy some theme files to the system folder. Then your themes will work. It's like the default theme folders are not there in the system. After that, if you want to unroot, use SuperSU's unroot feature. Let me see if I can find the reference and the file links I found last time later to post it up.

@juanmre, following is the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/general/solve-apply-themes-downloaded-t3318265
I think it is the same link you mentioned.
And yes, unfortunately you will need to root again to solve this theme issue. Then unroot after that.

is there a way to flash that folder without Root or without unlocking the bootloader? I really would like to avoid all that hazzle again.
If not, I will try to do it some time in the weekend.
Thanks anyway.

Interesting, mostar088.
I would like to try this again when I have time.
Can you advice which specific files to download for VIE-L29C636B170?
For example, I see that there are two links mentioning "hw/default". Do I download all the files with "hw/***"?
Thanks.

After rolling back from Android N beta version (which was draining my battery very fast), I faced the same problem with the themes.
So I gave this solution a try again and finally noticed that the "hw" folder is still within another "hw" folder, after fixing it, only one "hw" folder together with the "UPDATE.APP" file, everything worked and I'm able to change themes again. (by the way, it did make a fresh install again, so backup before if you want to try).

Applying Firmware L09C02B128

Hi Guys,
I need a bit of help with my Huawei P9 Plus, which I purchased here in UK Vodafone.
The original firmware on the phone was VIE-L09C02B127.
However I had applied VIE-C900B103 - from one of the guides in this forum and I forgot to backup my oeminfo and custom files, does this mean that they are the still the original files for VIE-L09C02B127 ?
Also can someone help in getting my phone back to VIE-L09C02B128 please. I have got the firmware L09C02B128 from a German site, can someone here able to check it and confirm if it this the same as the UK one ?
I can upload the firmware if someone can tell me how to ?
Thanks in advanced,
Bashy
I would appreciate it if you could upload it thanks (been waiting for B128 in SA and it just doesnt arrive due to our useless carriers), think you can put it in Google drive, Dropbox, Mega etc and then just share the link, thats probably the easiest.
In terms of flashing you need to unroot (via SuperSU) then install stock recovery (if you have twrp installed), then see http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9-...ei-p9-plus-vie-l09-update-app-t3384951/page11 for installing.

Hi Jostian,
Here is the link https://mega.nz/#!8UsBhQAL!QT67L7uCsjbj0vNXT0vSLbksZRx9znv8aVlje2IvT_o
Also in regard to applying this firmware onto my phone I am not rooted nor I have trwp installed.
So do I just copy the .app file onto my memory card and put it in the dload folder ?
Thanks in advanced.

Hi Jostian,
I am not root and nor I have twrp installed. However I did the below and my firmware is still showing VIE-L09C900B103;
1) Copied the update file on to my memory card and put in in the dload folder.
2) Restarted the phone, whilst holding down the volume up and down.
3) The phone installed the file from the memory card.
Can you please confirmed how you did it mate step by step.

Hi Bashy, cos you are unrooted your phone will only show new 128 if you install full 128 ROM, dont think you can install update (b128) over b103 and get update to B128 in build number.
Did you try the *#*#2846579#*#* this opens menu options- press "SDCard Upgrade" then "Ok" method (give it a try), I unzipped yr file (6 or 7 files inside) copied these all to the 'dload' folder I created on the ext SD Card, then used the *#*# ..... method to update, the update like yours was successful (completed and I see a bunch of new apps etc.) but I still see B127 in settings/about phone/build number... so not sure why build no. remains B127???
I think the best would be to somehow find the full B128 ROM and flash it or for the B128 update to be put into a flashable (twrp) zip, but because the P9Plus is so new these options not available yet, they will come but it will take a bit of time.
Hi Guys,
the ota update failed on my phone. SO it didn't install any apps just changed the version info so basically It says b128 and cant find any new updates..
I downloaded the b128 voda update from a german site.
How do I install it?

you need to extract the files from the zip, should be 2 files (Update.app and Meta-info) you put those 2 in the dload folder and then use the *#*#.... (project menu to install), remember you must be on stock recovery and phone must not be rooted.

HI Bash25,
Did you just "flash" the c432b161? or unlocked the bootloader, installed custom recovery, rooted, changed oem info etc..???

Think you need to do it the long way, don't think the flash will succeed if you just try flash over different variant code

Hi mate,
So for the delay in responding back.
My phone was did not have the bootloader unlocked and nor it was rooted.
However I did try to root it to change the 2 files over. But I can't confirm 100% worked.
Only way I would know this these 2 files were correctly updated is to check. I am not sure how too, but if someone can show then this would be great.

how to flash a stock image?

I know that there are some threads over this topic, but there is nowhere a specific answer. I have currently Sokkoban's ROM, and I want to revert to the official build. Can someon provide me with the necessary files in order to flash a stock recovery? I found only this answer, but there are no available links for the files. I would appreciate if anyone could help me. I have ALE L21- dual european edition, running on custom rom based on C432B574.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: tried with the HuaweiUpdateExtractor with the UPDATE.APP file, and flashed the first 3 images (boot, recovery cust) but I get an error while trying to flash the system.img.

You are absolutely right. Although Sokkoban's ROM is really very good, you cannot go back to the official easily. Still din't try to flash another rom, like cm 11 and then go back to the official. If anyones does try it, he should let us know.

You need to flash the original recovery(which you already have). Then put dload folder in sdcard and upgrade manually. You might get BALONG bug (because this happened to me) so I recommend you to start from beginning( the very first firmware for your model/country). For me it was B120. It contained two dload folders one was the system and the other was vendor file. You need both files.

By the way do you have nandroid backup of official rom? If yes restore it via twrp. This could save you a lot of time. The method I used isn't difficult but it takes time.
On sokoban's rom. Flash the original recovery (recommend that you extract it from the firmware you are going to flash).Use the oldest one (link given below) emui 3.1/Android 5.0 for dual sim
Now put dload file in sdcard/internal memory and upgrade the phone.
If you have balong bug put dload2(rename it to dload) folder in sdcard/ internal memory and upgrade.
Now later you may upgrade to Android 6.0/emui 4

No, I used TWRP backup.
When I tried to extract the images from an official ROM (I have done so many attempts that, I cannot remember which ROM I used), I was able to flash 3 out 4 files. The one I couldn't was the system. When I tried through classic (dload etc), It got stuck at 2% and would give me an error.
But that's all in the past. lol
At this moment, my phone is at the service center with no warranty cause my wifi adapter is not working. From what I've heard, such ptoblems, need mainboard replacement and I cannot afford it at this moment. So I am going to stuck with this phone till it's dead, and of course not going to install any ROM, just because I cannot update anything..... cheers!!!

then you can install the system.img withing recovery

Bluetooth issue in VIE-L09C25B320

Well, first of all, hello everybody and sorry for my english. I'm new at XDA and this it's my first post. Sorry if I miss at the place to post or something like that.
Let's go straight to the point:
Las weekend I bought a second hand Huawei P9 Plus. I was delighted with it. The phone was acquired in San Salvador and it cames with the VIE-L09C25B120 compilation. As I am in Madrid I can't update the phone via OTA.
So I decided to unlock Bootloader, change oeminfo and custom.bin to Europe one (C432) [I'm not sure if I need necessary to do this] with SRK Tool, root it and install a stock firmware. It wasn't easy to find the firmware for L09C25B120, but finally with Firmware Finder for Android I found that L09C25B320 will match it perfectly (suposely).
After missing some points, I finally achieve it and now my phone has Nougat and MIUI 5 working. But not so fine. Also, in the About the Phone section, in Compilation Number appears: NRD90M test-keys
The first issue that I found is that after the last reboot I have no Keyboard. Just Voice Dictation. That I solve it via APK Installer. I download the Google Keyboard APK and install it through the PC.
But now I face a bigger problem, and this is why I wrote you:
I didn't realize when I flash the ROM that the Bluetooth isn't working. When I push the BT logo, it turns grey but doesn't do anything. I try to clear cache but the only application (a system one) running that it's related with Bluetooth it's the Bluetooth MIDI Service. And also, all the info and sections are grey.
So, what can I do? Do I need to rollback?? (Everything else works fine. Or seems to...)
Could I only install a version of the Bluetooth. apk?? (if it exists)
Could I extract the APK's related with Bluetooth from the stock firmware that came with the phone and insert in this new compilation?? In this case, wich are the files related to the Bluetooth in Huawei P9??
Thankyou very much and sorry for the brick!
I have the same problem but with B354. Hoping there's a solution else I guess I just need to wait for the official update.

No one can help?
I was wondering if a downgrade is viable from Nougat.
Also I found that I cant boot un twrp recovery Mode. When I tried to (via power+volume up) or from SRKTool the device enter in erecovery mode from MIUI. And no option for reset or factory reset, just the setup wifi section to search a new package (that fails) and reboot and turn off options.
Some advice? Anything will be helpfull.
Thx

Also I found that I cant boot un twrp recovery Mode. When I tried to (via power+volume up) or from SRKTool the device enter in erecovery mode from MIUI. And no option for reset or factory reset, just the setup wifi section to search a new package (that fails) and reboot and turn off options.
Some advice? Anything will be helpfull.
Thx

If it does not work,u can use this new method to push the update with Firmware Finder. When u updated your phone to Nougat u did not flash it with the second update file that includes the apps of Keyboard and Bluetooth.

Well that's really helpful, Mostar88. Thankyou very much. I was about to install a new firmware, but a full one. I'll try this method first.
Thankyou very much!
P.s. Just a naïve question: Once I liberate the bootloader and have change the oeminfo to the Europe one, could I update to whatever firmware C432?? Or I still need to install always to a C25 one??
Thanx again. You've been really helpful!
Best regards

If u changed the oeminfo to C432 and the phone version is C432 in Settings - About phone u should only update with C432 firmware. What build do you have on your phone now? There is no Nougat realesed yet for C432 on P9+.

Now the phone only displays NRD90M test-keys (where it use to be L09C25B120). This happens just after install the VIE-L09C25B320CUSTC25D0001. It's supposed to be FULL, but I'm not really sure if the one that I locate has a single package or two. I read about this packages that came in two or even three different zips. But what I'm certainly sure it's that previously to install that package, I change the oeminfo to Europe (C432). How it's possible that the phone let me update??

I have tried several times to get that menu (to launch the install process from SD card) but when I dial it, the phone does nothing. I just dial it and the text box with the dial code disappear but nothing happens.

Wich is that second update you reffer to? Because with Firmware Finder (PC version. The android one doesn't work with this android version) just found the one I mention before: VIE-L09C25B320CUSTC25D001. Which is the one that I install.
If I have to use FF pc to update i'm not sure how to do It. I must change the network configuration in both sides (PC and Phone)?
I was trying to get info about some C25 update with changes in Bluetooth and Keyboard but I found nothing. I'm not really sure what to search for or how to search it. Any tip?? Thanks in advance

When u download that version and u come to 100% then paus the upgrade ( u have 15 sec to paus so u have to pay atention to your phone all the time ) and choose to upgrade later. Then go in the root of the phone and find a folder called HwOUC and open, in that folder u should find another folder with 5 numbers and in that folder u should have 2 .zip files.

Thankyou again Mostar88!
That info I think that is the first time I read it and I think it's quite important.
Another questions:
1. Could I flash again the same VIE-L09C25B320CUSTC25D001 ROM?
2. Once I extract the files, I finish installing, and the I flash both files again? In which order?

Did it help, what @glehel posted?
I want to know, because I want to provide this guide also for fixing problems like you have ... or had.
Use dload forced method with first before using scripts.
Just download the correct firmware for your device, if you know the firmware-version you had, use the exact one, because it was approved for installation:
http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/?firmware_model
Extract the the update.zip and put the update.app into a folder called dload on your sdcard.
Start you phone while holding all 3 buttons, this will launch th dload process.
This way you maybe safe some time.

Is there a way to retrieve the exact name of the installed stock firmware? For my VTR-L09C432 there are multiple versions listed (like 360, 365, etc). Also I am wondering what's the difference between FullOTA-MF / OTA-MF / FullOTA-MF-PF, etc.

No, you can´t check your version, but if you choose an older firmware, you should be fine. Afterwards you can update to a newer version.
The only problem might be, if you already had oreo installed, then you should use it again for restore, because the partitionlayout changed from nougat to oreo.
All version named B1XX are Nougatfirmwares
All version named B3XX are Oreofirmwares.
Choose a FULLOTA for updates, the others are just incremental and won´t help you in your case.
To be exact you should use a FullOTA-MF-PV. The PV stands for public version and all other firmwares are just internal builds from huawei.

If you don't want to go back to stock firmware, you also have the option of custom roms such as Lineage OS or one of the others in this forum.
If you go with stock firmware, I suggest you make a Nandroid back-up before you flash TWRP. You can easily do this by booting into twrp instead of flashing (eg: fastboot boot twrp.img). After creating and copying the back-up to your PC, you can proceed with flashing twrp and never have to worry about the softbricking again =).

Correct stock file for Indian Version LLD-AL10

I downloaded and tried flashing this one but got an error at 5%.
LLD-AL00C00B172 (8.0.0.172),LLD-TL10C00B172 (8.0.0.172),LLD-AL10C00B172 (8.0.0.172)
Can someone tell me which version i correct for me?
Does it match your device model? Also what was the last firmware you had on the device?
Sent from my LLD-L31 using Tapatalk
I don't remember the last firmware but the device is LLD-AL10
I file I tried was the latest I could find on the website. I just tried another file, got the same error.
Your device might be a LLD-AL10 however the last 4 digits is important.
For example you have :-
LLD-AL10C00B172
LLD-AL10C01B171
The C bit is the important bit. Also make sure you download the FullOTA-MF file set.

Not sure as my phone hasn't been unlocked or twrp'd. However if its like the LLD-L31C432 then your best bet might be to try LLD-AL10C00B163 as on mine i can't install LLD-L31C432B132 however i was able to install LLD-L31C432B130 or LLD-L31C432B131.

Holy ****! this worked with HuR tool. But the only problem is, its a chinese ROM, without play store. If you tell me what those 3 files were, i'll download the Indian version and flash it. Thanks a lot though
From what i understand its the following
1) Format an SDcard and Create a folder called dload in the sdcard.
2) Extract the contents of update.zip to the dload folder.
3) Place the SDCard in the phone.
4) Press and Hold VOL up VOL Down then the power button.
