Messenger quick reply - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

I have not been on Oxygen OS forever(since 1+2). Is there not a setting to do quick replies from the messenger w/o having to switch over to the app?
Thanks

Not CM either if I remember correctly

Lol, feel dumb. Switched to Google(Love Google) messenger and it allows quick replies.

Yeah. Just switching to a messaging app that supports quick reply is how you easily fix that issue. I personally use Textra, and have used it for a VERY long time now.

Just uses to N7.1.1 Pixel From where it's just a drop down. Cant wait for 3T Development

I'll likely use Textra, but I have a personal issue with most text apps--they don't allow customization per contact when you have a group message. I want to know which person texted me--even if in a group--rather than which group.

State of RCS on Android

So if you haven't heard, RCS is supposed to produce a iMessage like experience for text messaging in android. some features are:
-Send large sized files
-In app live notifications like (someone is typing)
Just to name a few. it seems like this feature is a little bit of a mess since it requires carrier support, OEM support and app support (not so sure about this one). I heard that the last Galaxy s9 update in July enabled support for this. Either way, question is simple.
1. When do people think this will reach the masses?
2. People who have used this feature/are using this, what are your thoughts about this?
I'm excited for this but it really seems like a faraway dream at this point. with that let's talk about this

I can make a call and then start typing a message to people. I found this option about 2 months ago.
RCS works if both parties have it enabled. It's worked since day 1 for me if using Android Messages.
stock client doesn't seem to have RCS support.

I use Android Messages
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.messaging
Yes I'm using a Qualcomm unit.
If the send button is just an arrow, it's RCS if there is an SMS under the arrow, then it's SMS.

it'll work cross carrier as long as both parties have RCS enabled clients on a network with RCS support.

thanks for the info. but still curious about this RCS was said to be given in a update that came after phone launch, so you've taken all the s9 updates this far?
Is this RCS ??
Got it on Telstra with Samsung Galaxy S7
But don't know what this function is
Only got voicemail as mp3 file so don't need to dial into the voicemail box

Yea really & regarding carrier, im running on tmobile via metropca prepaid so im assuming it should work. Because trickle down features.right???
Can anyone confirm RCS working with metropcs?

RCS finally working and how to set up.

Follow this Reddit thread to get RCS set up and working. Working on my TMobile OP7P on international firmware fine. https://www.reddit.com/r/UniversalP...with/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
How did you get it working? I tried it multiple times with no luck. When I click "apply" nothing happens. I have the same setup as you, and I'm using the beta version of messages app.

Try Updating Message in Play Store. I did everything as well and nothing happened. I checked the Play Store to see if it would give me a new 'beta' version to update and there was! Updated and opened Messages and got the new toys.
RCS is live in the USA! Confirmed working on Global version of OnePlus 7 Pro GM1917, OxygenOS 10.0.1.GM21AA on the TMobile Network.
Don't think it works for verizon

Glad it's working for you. Got it working on my wife's Moto G7 for about a half hour. Then it stopped working. Can't get it to work at all now.

I got it working here as well. It didn't work the first few times though. Had to uninstall messages, reinstall, then follow the instructions again.

It does not it only works with users that have RCS enabled.
I completely forgot about RCS, turns out all I need to do was turn it on.
Hope to fine out one day what exactly is the big deal.

Thanks:good:
The 7 Pro doesn't come with Carrier Services installed. Download it from the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.ims
Edit: International 7 Pro on T-Mobile, testing with an S10+ on Sprint, RCS messages are in a darker shade of blue in both light and dark theme, the arrow to send a message doesn't show "MMS/SMS" under it, and the text in the message window displays "Chat message" instead of "Text message".
