Oneplus 3T touch screen latency - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Can anyone tell me the touch screen latency of Oneplus 3T. Higher latency was the only deal breaker for me with One plus 3 which was 95ms.

You don't realize until you know it. But once you know it, it is difficult to use phones with high touch screen latency. Check this out:

I don't know how to calculate it but you can estimate it. Enable show touches in developer options and try to drag your finger around. See the YouTube video for better estimations.

Using the video you posted, latency falls between 10ms and 50ms, but closer to 50ms.
BTW, OS 3.5.3 update for the 3T specifically addresses high latency issues.

SGS Touchscreen Booster app does wonders for other androids.
Someone try it and report back
Also Note 4 has an option to increase touch sensitivity in the pull down menu.
Is there an option to do so on the OP3T?

It's pretty sickeningly quick/smooth coming from the galaxy s5, if I say so

That app says "Only for Samsung Galax S up to Android 2.3.x."
App Link to SGS in Google Play
I think the sensitivity of the panel is something different, as it would be more based on being able to detect soft touches.

Nothing scientific of course, but it didn't seem noticeable to me at first. I'm coming from a LG G4 which doesn't appear to have the best latency in the first place, according to this post on Reddit. Since all the posts came up about it I've started to notice it slightly, but nothing that hinders the user experience. Maybe in other cases it's more apparent, but so far in my day to day use it hasn't been an issue.

It works in later phones.
Use it on my note 4.... and it helps improve the touch experience

Voodoo Screen Tuning R&D works?

Hi,
Voodoo Screen Tuning is a screen calibration for amoled screen but does it work on the galaxy tab 7.7?

Not yet. Hopefully, our tab will be supported soon.

Based on his tweets he seems to be using on from a friend already and has voodoo tuning up and running for his personal use so far.
From some of those tweets it sounds like he is happy with the improvements his Voodoo colour tweaks have made vs stock. Fingers crossed they include turning off some/all of the over-sharpening which bugs me a little when I notice it.
I haven't got mine in front of me but I seem to recall instances of observing it progressively sharpening photos from top to bottom as they load much like an old progressive scan jpeg.

I also dislike the over-sharpening on the tabs, it actually makes images look bad. Hopefully Supercurio will make a Tab7.7 release.

Similar app called "Screen Adjuster" from the market works, but doesn't have as many features.

Atrocious frame rate on camera and gTalk

Coming from Galaxy Nexus, my N4 is giving more surprises, and not in a good way.
In addition, to much higher display response time that results in noticeable trail behind any on-screen object that requires screen to change pixels, I have noticed that camera has extremely low frame rate when used in picture taking mode. It can barely pull 8-10 frames per second. It works ok in video taking mode.
This would not have been much of a problem if this also wasn't the case in gTalk. I often use gTalk video chat to talk to my wife. For whatever reason, gTalk seems to access camera in this "picture taking mode" that pulls off 8fps at best regardless of available bandwidth. This results in sub par video chat experience when compared against GNex on the same wireless network.
I don't understand why this is the case. One would assume with the power of S4 behind it, it could do any picture/video processing at a much faster rate than GNex, but that is not the case. I also don't understand why Google's native gTalk video chat seems to access the camera in the wrong mode.
I hope this makes sense.

Thank you for the link. However, this deals bitrate/fps for video taking purposes. My problem is abysmal processing in picture taking mode that results in only a few fps in camera and gTalk applications. Am i missing something?

I'm telling you this is the thread for all camera/camcorder mods for this device that I have seen. If it isn't there, then you have your answer. Why not post in the thread asking if there is s way to increase frame rate?
Edit: because you have 5 posts. Time to get that post count up.

I probably haven't articulated my observation well. It isn't the frame rate of the video that I am concerned with, it is
1. poor performance of image processing in the camera app in picture mode, particularly given N4's S4 processor
2. odd implementation of gTalk video which clearly accesses camera in this "picture mode" instead of much smoother video mode.
Thanks,

No effects same result. Comparing a Galaxy Nexus, One X, S3 and Nexus 4 side by side the N4 is by far the worst. The frame rate is terribly low (all over the same wifi network).

Thank you for your feedback. It really helped me to understand that it wasn't just my individual phone.
I am hopeful it is a software issue. What puzzles me is that it is a fairly obvious one and is found in a native Google application. In addition, they had the power of S4 for image processing/compression and the result is still really bad.
I have sold my Nexus 4 yesterday for essentially what I bought it off Google Play because of this (and other, primarily display response time issues). This issue is probably not significant enough for most people. However in my case, I really grew to rely on gTalk video over HSPA to see my wife (who is also a GNex owner) and son on regular basis during the day. It works great on GNex and unfortunately felt like a downgrade when I tried it with Nexus 4.
I would love to hear if this issue gets fixed in the future.
Just curious if you see this same behavior when using Skype.
Can anyone confirm whether this bug was fixed in 4.2.2?
Thanks!

I got the Google Pixel 5, what do you need to know?

UPDATE 5 October:
I've been informed on 5 Oct to not post anything further on the Pixel 5 until the embargo lifts (which I can't communicate when that is).[/B]

Hi everyone,
Seen there's some love for the Pixel 5 here at XDA (Hi again XDA gang!), so as I have the phone in front of me. What do you need to know?
I'm looking to get confirmation from my source to see if I can extract the camera.apk for you, but before sharing any files (including original photos from the Pixel 5), I'm getting it confirmed. Rather be safe than sorry
Anyway, ask away, I'll try my best to answer everything I can.
Oh, and my video on YouTube of the phone (if you don't believe I have the phone), is live on my channel too:

Hey, thanks!
Can you confirm that you can switch to the Ultra Wide Angle camera in third party apps (Snapchat, Instagram, etc) when doing a pinch zoom out?
Is there an Ambient EQ setting in Settings>Display>Advanced?
How much bright display is?
Can you force 90hz from developer settings?
How is haptics?
How is stereo speakers?
How slow it feels to flagship phones like Pixel 4 or Note 20 Ultra? Especially if someone is using 2020 flagship phones.
How does the screen brightness compare to the 4xl?
The wallpapers on the promotional images are included? Can you share? ?
Since you're able to hold it and use it, is it worth the price they are retailing it for ?
How are the stereo speakers, are they comparable to the 3XL ?
How responsive is it ?
How's the feel of the device, slippery or gritty like the renders suggest? Does it support hdmi output from its usb-c port? Still squeezable? Fp gestures for qs return? Pixel visual core is present? Any feature parity between the normal and ultrawide cam? What's the max slo-mo fps? Anything major is missing? And sorry for asking so many questions. ?

It gets REALLY bright, haven't measured it yet - but I suspect it's above 500 nits.
'Smooth Display' can be enabled via the Display options: 60->90Hz automatically.
There's no additional option in the dev settings
Haptics feel natural, nothing to report, other than it's located at the bottom of the phone.
Stereo speakers upon first impressions are pretty poor; they sound tinny. The S10+ trounces it.
Feels fluid so far, but can'#t really pass much judgement as I've only had it for a short time.

Both features will probably come in a Pixel Feature Drop, then. Thanks for sharing!
How is the screen quality?
IE: coming from a QHD Pixel 4 XL to the FHD Pixel 5?
Add Build.prop file please
What's the screen brightness? Is it brighter than the 4 XL? I have googled everywhere and just no answer about something so important.
Also is the battery life significantly better and do you think it's worth buying coming from a 4 XL?
Edit: nvm just saw your replies! Thank you! Is Ambient EQ available under Settings > Display?
It's not listed on the Store site which is suspicious.

AMOLED SCREEN

For the last 2 weeks i have identified an issue with its amoled screen. Under low light condition, with brightness level at its minimum, and with dark gray color as background (e.g. Dark mode in facebook), I noticed some lines of black and white which irritates my usage. I compared this with my mate 20 pro and I have not seen any of it. Iv tried to look about this in the internet but Im not sure. There are articles that say its banding, some say glue gate issue. Any thoughts?

I just spoke to Huawei Support here in Sweden.
They hadnt heard about this problem yet but they promised to check it up and get back to me.
I also informed him about my camera problem which is that pictures taken in normal cam mode ends up brighter and HDR like. This is not a problem on my mate 9 and mate 20.
Only way of getting pictures right is to switch to pro mode or change the filter....

Jolly good, mate!
But it would be nice knowing what kind of display they will replace with... Hopefully Samsungs or LG's.
I hope Ill get mine fixed. They pain is to start all fresh from scratch after though... Even with backing up Ill always end up having to manage my themes, icons, Apex launcher, modded apps/games, game data from Super Clone etc. Not to speak about Dual Space app(s), Google Play Storet etc etc....
Hmmmm...
Last night I discovered another screen/image issue...
I have a photo of my son as wallpaper. When I lowered the brightness to minimum (in a dark room), the photo looked like a 8-bit coloured photo from the 80's... Low colours, high contrast and looked like a sketch!!!!
Yes, it looks like hell and when you close it completely too ...
Why would you keep the screen with brightness to a minimum ??

Nope... Problem persists...
Just wonder how to explain properly for Huawei support here in Sweden in order for a replacement. They still havent got back to me yet......
Any updats about the screen issue, Zaxarive?
Huawei support, Sweden just called me.
1. They will escalate the issue with the camere higher up and get back to me.
But I guess the issue with "brighten up"/processed images from "normal" camera mode is caused by Huawei's new feautre "Ultra vision/Cine"... Never the less, it would be nice beingbable to turn it off when needed. I mean the whole thing just basiclly feels like a "HDR function", something that on iPhones have been a feautre the past 10 years. Apple lets you turn it off/on...
2. Most likely our problem with our displays in low brightness comes from having a OLED instead of a Super AMOLED... It just works in another way... Pity but the truth..! OLED has a much better blackness BUT with the costs of much harder to get a "sharp bright" image i low brightness mode....
Ill let you know when Huawei Support has got back to me.
Few months after any update?

Got my X5 Pro Yesterday impressed with 1 annoying bug refresh rate in Google apps...Some of.

Hi,
Loving the device so far, Very slick and the build quality is awesome, Camera is excellent! Better than I imagined for a Chinese phone, It feels almost like the perfect smartphone, I'm glad I chose this now and not the OP 10 Pro.
1 annoying issue I have though is scrolling refresh rate in Google photos and the menu scrolling in Google maps is jittery.
This is not present on my 8 Pro and I have no idea why, It makes using Google photos quite a horrible experience to be honest, I can't find a way to force higher refresh rate for specific apps alao, Doesn't look like it's possible.
Does anyone know how to report bugs to Oppo?
Update...
Weird lol just gone back into photos and now it's smooth I have no idea why, What it is still doing though is mis touches with the screen and scrolling, It's nowhere near as fast as my OP 8 Pro and does not seem to be as responsive either in the sense that trying to scroll fast with your finger results in mis touches of the screen not picking your finger up, I hope they are aware of this and it gets fixed soon.
Update again lol, Scrub that it's not smooth in Google photos at all I posted this from my 8 Pro not even realising lol.
I have none of those issues on mine, have refresh on auto.

Thanks mate I'll give that a go sounds promising for now, I can't understand what is so difficult for the the software devs of these modern flagships to have YouTube and Google apps running at 120hz, After all it's what we paid for with these high end displays, Thanks again.
I know. It's a pain. My previous device was an s21 ultra and had no issues with 120hz. I guess oppo do it for power saving maybe. I'm pretty sure one plus do something similar. Try the app worked for me. You'll have to go in to the app every time you restart the device. So it's not a permanent fix but gets the job done.
