Unable to locate a "Do Not Disturb" software option. Substitute app preference?
I know that we have that button on the side but I'll have to remember each night. i'll miss it sooner or later lol. If anyone knows of an app it would be appreciated.

Hola
Thanks for the feedback, I was literally looking into this like a few minutes ago, and I figured that they removed it due to the physical slider like you mentioned. IMHO, that is rather daft... like the OP I want an automated schedule available to me.
I'll have to look into an app if no know replies soon with a recommendation.
Thanks.

May be Nougat will bring that feature back...

App permission monitor stating the obvious on SMS?

Has anyone seen this App permission monitor pop up while doing something completely normal and keep letting you know every time you use it? For me, I'm using Google Messages as my default SMS app, and this thing pops up telling me "1 apps have been detected using 1 permissions" and lists Messages | SMS.
OBVIOUSLY.
What's even stranger is that I went to app permissions and it says that Messages is authorized for SMS, just like I okay'd it when Messages was set as the default SMS app. What gives? I think this might come in handy when an app goes rogue, using permissions without me saying it was okay to do so, but in this case, it's like saying "water is wet." When you click on the notification, it says that Messages has been using permissions in the background.... What?
Any thoughts on how to okay this with App permission monitor so I can text without this warning all the time (and no, I'm not about to hide notifications of it since it could be helpful in the future).
Go into Settings > Lock Screen and Security > App Permissions Monitor and turn it off.

Not helpful. Please read what I wrote again. I think the app could possibly be useful, but it just needs to be corrected.
You can actually go in and tell it to not report permission uses for specific apps instead of turning it off completely. Instead of clicking the rifle just click on the words so permission monitor and it'll give the full list of apps and you can shut off reporting for apps you trust.

THANK YOU. This is what I was looking for. I didn't know what you were referring to at first, I was just getting the notification because I didn't see it in Settings (there is so much stuff in there now, you just about have to use the search feature for everything these days!), but now that I found it, I clicked on the words, not the toggle switch, and set Messages to NOT monitor. Perfect, thank you.
I am kind of confused. What did you search to make it go away? This is getting so annoying because it is always telling me textra is using SMS and I am not sure what to do to make it stop. Like you I would still like to keep the monitor on I just wish it would stop telling me what I already know.

I was a little confused as well so this is what I did to correct it.
SETTINGS >> LOCK SCREEN AND SECURITY >> APP PERMISSION MONITOR
From there you should go down to the android Messages app and toggle it to off. That will disable giving the warning every time you send a message.
Hope that helps.

You do know they legit just told you how to do it.... you dont have to be mean about it. and then stating "THIS" is what im looking for. Like they told you how to get there, you click the name. if you went onto there to just hit the toggle without looking/investigating around, ie. pressing the section instead, then you arent probably getting the most out of your phones.
I suggest playing around in your settings and everything to get the most out of your phone.
I legit just made this account to tell you this because the person helped you and you seemed to speak rude to them.

Wow, you "legit" just wasted my time by coming to an out of date thread that the first comment did NOT answer my question. Congratulations. Welcome to XDA.

This is happening on my note 8 as well. Have you been able to fix this? I'm a little worried it could be something malicious using back-end processes, like they programmed the exploit to send SMS messages without involving surface flinger...

I am assuming you are using a 3rd party messaging app from the play store?
I am still getting the notifications even though for instance Contacts is allowed to be used by Android Messages, I get the notification everytime I send or receive a text.
I tried turning the monitor off completely, still getting notifications.
All since I upgraded to a new Samsung patch last night on my S8+.
In fact I got the notification just now after I toggled the setting to off...I checked and the toggle is back on.

Can Not Thank You Enough! I could not figure out how to get that to stop to save me and my OCD couldn't take anymore of those notifications as it was always about my chosen text app. Turning off all didn't work why I didn't think to try just the one is beyond me. So thanks again and this is why I love this Forum!

Email notifications - not on the weekend

Hi all
I have work email on my phone and i would like to not get notifications on the weekend or late at night from people that have no life. Is there any way to automize (automatize?) That notifications from a single app only appear during a certain time?
I am rooted, so i could install root apps
Thanks!

I guess the best way is change the notification to silent and then turn it back on

Personally I just have no sound in emails. I am checking them all the time either way, so when I don't want to be annoyed silent notification does the job. (I receive circa 800 emails on a daily basis, so I would go mad if it made a sound every single time)

Messages - Schedule Message option no longer there :(

I used to rely on this feature allot. Sometimes you get an idea or want to sent a stupid comment to someone, but it's 2am. With Schedule Message you could set it to whatever time you needed and not feel guilty about it. Do we know if this is coming back? Am I missing the option somewhere?

Anyone able to figure this out? I have a Mate RS that I could turn off this easily, but seems I cannot find the setting in on my P30 Pro.
Here you can see how to do this.

Seriously. I mean i read, that they removed settings in emui 9.1, but why on earth would you remove features, from a perfectly running system. I mean first they break split screen app switching on android 7 and never come jund to fixing it and now forced app suggestions. If anybody finds out how to get rid of them help would be greatly appreciated.

Live Cations Working?

Are your Live Captions currently working? Mine seem to have gone A.W.O.L. I've tried various videos, etc. but nothing displays. The option is on when I press the volume button(s). Any advice?
I see the option but nothing happens for me either.

Yay! Well... "Yay" in a good way in that I'm not alone in this. I had an online chat session with a Google support person, but he couldn't figure it out. I'm at a loss!

I don't (even) have the "Live Caption" option in the Accessibility section. I have "Captions," but that's it. The option to select it is present in the volume rocker, but nothing happens despite it being activated.

That has to be it. My "Accessibility" page doesn't have that option. I wonder how I can get it to show up?

According to some users you are certainly not alone. They did say that once app / system files were updated then the option appeared. But not everyone and suggested reporting the issue via the feedback option. Try updating everything first and see what happens. Factory reset didn't help either.

I know this is a silly question, but when you say "try updating everything" what do you mean, specifically?

It's not silly because I have no idea what they were talking about either. I guess they mean apps like carrier services and perhaps the monthly security updates? I'll look further see if there are any clarifications. You have the 4xl and are in the U. S. right? They did mention all play store updates too.
edit: Language must be set to US English
simply search settings for 'live' there is a complete section dedicated to live caption, be sure it is enabled.

The problem some are having is that it doesn't show up in the accessibility section. It's just not there.

Interestingly enough, LIVE CAPTIONS STARTED WORKING AGAIN. I have no clue what triggered it, but there were some Play Store updates that took place earlier today. Go figure ?

Great, that's what they said, updates. Nuts that it would affect it like that but at least you got it back.
