wifi chip used in oneplus 3t?(ac6174?) - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

I'm sure the SoC manufacturer being Qualcomm will be the chip running the wifi.
https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Qualcomm_Atheros
https://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/128617-what-is-wi-fi-chipset-inside-qca6164-or-qca6174/
How come you are asking?

Dot know about the chip..
But getting only 100Mbit download speed my old lg g2 Getting easily 120Mbit one same spot.. while notebook gets 150 (which is max speed of my internet subscription) on the same spot/place..
Can Wifi be improved ?

Try changing to 5Ghz only if your router support's it. Otherwise it's up to your router sharing the speeds, assign a static IP to the phone can help various speeds happening some time's.

The chip is a qualcomm qca6174. I just did an #lspci from root and it returned this:
[email protected]:/ # lspci -k
00:00.0 Class 0604: 17cb:0104
01:00.0 Class 0280: 168c:003e cnss_wlan_pci

If you lookup 168c:003e, it's the code for the qca6174.

Hey since you're Canadian too, are your speeds ok? Mine wasn't even useable.
I checked the apn settings. I thought maybe the ROM was just set up for euro freqs
My speeds are great however I did flash a new radio a while back. This isn't "mysense 3.5" this came out last night. It's stupid fast I got 4th best IncS bench marks in the world at 1708 MHz

[Q] WIFI 802.11ac connection speed

Hello,
can anyone tell me what is the connection speed using 802.11ac ?
i know that on GN with wifi n you cannot exceed 65mbs and i hope HTC doesn't limit the ac to a speed lower than 900mbs.
Thank you!
Damn, you're talking about 900mbps? I've got a connection of only 21 mbps
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using Tapatalk 2
802.11ac is only as fast as your router and the speeds you get from your provider, and as far as I know, no provider offers 900mbps connections. I have xfinity 105 mbps package and the wifi on my iphone 5 averages 50 mbps

this is not entirely true.
google fiber has 1Gb internet solution but this is not what I'm trying to find out.
I want to know the connection speed showed in settings under wifi when you are connected to a 802.11ac router.

yes, i can use all the bandwidth from a 802.11ac and the simplest example is file sharing.
also you are not limited to 1 process so you can simultaneously do file sharing, video streaming, download, upload etc.
I am finding that the HTC One refuses to connect to my Asus RT-AC66U router. Unfortunately the AC standard being draft, I suspect its a compatibility issue. It seems to go into authentication, delay, then try again over and over.
In the end I had to connect on my 2.4GHz output instead for now.

I got the phone working with my Asus RT-AC66U by updating to unofficial Beta firmware .352 on the Asus. I have a 38MB connection with BT Infinity, but I can't get higher than 31Meg with the speedtest on download on the One, but I do see 36.5 from a PC so for some reason I am not quite maxing out.

you might be limited due to write speed on phone's memory card.
can you transfer trough ftp from your pc to the phone a large file and monitor the transfer speed?

Your phone is probably already warm from doing something else that it throttled while doing the benchmark.
Put it in the freezer for 5 mins then redo benchmark

Even better, I chucked it outside and let the beautiful weather do it's thing (I'm from Toronto) and cool it down. Ran it again and got about 45k.
It's weird, I ran the test 3 times before and got 25k consecutively and the phone wasn't warm nor did I receive the "Bro let the phone cool down or you'll get a terrible score" warning.

Yeah unfortunately our Qualcomm soc like all others throttle after a few seconds. Thats why Samsung got in trouble before because when a certain app or benchmark really, it would keep the Soc at peak for the duration of the test.

Freezer benchmarks FTW!!! I could only score ~4700, but after putting it in the freezer for a few minutes, then running the benchmark with my phone still in the freezer I was able to break 4900.
Anyone know what an "unverified score" is? I'm assuming that just means my phone is so beastly that Antutu can't handle it.

I think it's because it was not able to connect to the internet during/after completing the benchmark. Perhaps make sure your phone can connect to the internet (Mobile Data / WiFi) before you start the benchmark.

It was connected to Wi-Fi before and after I put it in the freezer. I'm pretty sure my freezer isn't lined with lead or anything, so I don't understand why it couldn't connect.

lol, but a freezer is metal all around, enough to restrict any signal (Faraday cage).
No need to run the benchmark inside the freezer, after 5 mins in there, your phone will be good for benchmark outside.

Sensor showing cpu temp gets too hot

So XDA user,
Here is my story ....
After i receive the device I bricked it yeah..... And I managed to unbrick the device again. But then I had a problem with storage showing only 32gb that I fixed tho just redone the unbrick guide and not booting into system and flash all stuff.
So but now the big problem is I don't know if this heating is normal it happen on scrolling (g+...) and loading times when app launches or background processes. I tried 5 custom Roms to compare and I tested it on stock software (6.01 and 7.0) now I am running stock oos 7.0. And this are my sensor temp I get.
Is this NORMAL or is my device in the hardware way defect.
It would be cool if users can compare the values and show me those.
I am measure it in that way put g+ and cpuz in recents and scrolling in g+ fast and then slow again and so on switching fast to cpuz and then make fast and screenshot.
The values are not constant on the high values it's more like they jumping hard between 45-79 c
Now i even reached while scrolling fast in g+ because i searched for a thread this temp ! 90c....
This is not at all normal. My temp max goes to 45 while gaming.
Try flash the stock ROM. And don't use phone for an hour or so and then see.

Yes it's preferred, but it never works :'(
All 5Ghz devices can support 2.4Ghz networks and 2.4Ghz can reach speeds of 450 Mbps or 600 Mbps. On 4G data connection, you cannot even reach those speeds so 5Ghz seems pointless for a hotspot. Is there a specific reason it has to be 5Ghz?

But you don't need 5Ghz to game? As I mentioned " 2.4Ghz can reach speeds of 450 Mbps or 600 Mbps", so unless you have a mobile data connection faster than that there is not need for 5Ghz. A 2.4Ghz could easily serve the fastest speed 4G can reach.
But 5 is a higher number than 2.4, so it must be better......
Well, Geforce Now runs better on 5ghz, maybe it's just placebo ?* ? but it actually does ?
If you were super serious about gaming you wouldn't use wifi .

If we all had latest gen fiber at our homes the world would be a better place, sadly it isn't possible, no matter how serious you are.
hi i have the same problem with my pixel 3a!
My solution is a mini router for 20€, connect the mobile internet via USB to the router and then connect your devices via 5ghz WLAN.
There is a big difference between 2,4 and 5ghz !!
In practice 2,4GHz does not reach more than 30mbits and the more interferences come the worse it gets.
Over the direct Hotspot of the pixel only 25mbits are usable, with the extra 5GHz router this goes up to 70mbits, so there is a clear difference!
I play over Lte and it works absolutely perfect, I sold my gaming PC last month for 2400€, so I am very happy with cloud gaming.
Here are some advantages of cloud gaming, low power consumption, no unnecessary heat development, no fan noise, mobile use, no annoying installation or updates.
To use it properly you need about 50 mbits, nowadays you can get that almost everywhere, soon also in Africa thanks to Starlink.
I also noticed that cloud gaming, whether stadia (which usually doesn't work anyway) or GeForce Now works particularly smooth on my Chrombook. In fact, even my friends discovered this!
