Reducing lowest volume even lower - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Is there a way to lower the volume by about 1/2 of the lowest volume setting? The ringer is quite loud (which is actually good for other reasons), but the lowest setting for the ringer is also quite loud in an office setting.
I know I could put it on vibrate, but I do like to hear it as well - just not as loud. Is there any way to reduce the volume a bit more at the lowest setting?
Thanks in advance for any tips/hints etc.

Are you rooted?

Not rooted, but could be.

Im using a combo approach with dolby atmos (dap_r6.5.zip)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/mod-dolby-atmos-t3109446
and an xposed module VolumeSteps+
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2884962
Might have to turn off the built in music fx EQ. Then I increased the volume steps to 15. I lowered the levels in dolby atmos to the volume level I like.

Just an FYI, in the stock, unrooted 3.5.4 update it allowed the lowest volume to go a bit lower (sounds about 1/2 as loud as the previous (3.5.3) low volume setting).
Happy!

Please help me lower the volume!

Hi,
I'm rooted, but I'd prefer to keep the stock kernel. Is there any way to gain better control over the volume? The lowest volume setting, for media/songs, etc., is entirely too loud for an office or in bed. I would like to avoid using my headphones 24/7.
Thanks!

*cough*porn*cough* I would feel weird watching 'media' in bed with my headphones on too. I haven't found a way of lowering the lowest volume setting yet though...
edit: there's a flashable mod by Matt here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2299834 that gives finer control between steps (30/45 steps instead of stock 15) but doesn't lower the lowest step volume, hence the reason the lowest two steps are silent with the mod..

[Q] Minimum headset volume to high

Dear all,
I run the stock firmware and like to listen to light music at low volume using a headset. However, the lowest volume is quite high.
Is there some way to decrease it even further without muting it?
Best,
Hindman
As a workaround when using VLC, one can use the built-in equilizer of VLC to decrease the volume.
Unfortunately, the system's equilizer does not provide such good result.
The volume on the output is actually lower than on the Xperia S I replaced with the Z3C. You might not have adjusted the correct volume setting - check Under Settings -> Sound -> Volumes -> Music, video, games & other media.
Toggling the rocker buttons on the sides actually changes the main volume control. Changing the specific media volume setting should resolve the issue for you unless you are using an external amplifier with very high gain.

I should clarify, that I'm using the noise cancelling headset.
Unfortunately, using the volume slider you mentioned does not allow to decrease the volume further.

The minimum headphones volume is too loud (CM14.1)

I recently installed CM14.1 but noticed that the most comfortable volume is somewhere between 1 and 3. Everything else is ridiculously loud (like physically uncomfortable). In stock MIUI a comfortable volume is somewhere in the middle (6-10). Is there a way to adjust the minimum and maximum values or change the intervals?
Thanks!
You can try making use of AudioFX built into the cm ROM. Try lowering the dB values equally in the app. You should be able to adjust it to comfortable levels that way!

XZ1C - Any way to increase speaker volume?

I am wondering if anyone uses any method to boost their speaker volume? The XZ1 Compact speakers, on max volume, are very hard to hear while driving down the highway or over basic kitchen noise.
maybe try this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony-themes-apps/port-sony-xperia-xz2-sound-enhancements-t3772758
If you are playing a specific audio file or something like that then you can alter the file's levels, say in Audacity or Audition. This could reasonably boost the levels if the source file is not already leveled very high.
Or if you want system-wide volume boost you can drag all the equalizer parameters to max gain in settings-sound-audio settings-sound effects-equaliser. Both methods may result in clipping but if it's really necessary to go that loud I guess a bit clipping won't be a huge problem, where the problem more lies in the life of speakers being shortened as they are powered beyond their designated volume

Question Low volume

hello, 12 pro sound is beautiful but volume is too low . I tried different options for dolby sound effects but still volume is low. any solution?
Iam also facing the same
You can tweak the equalizer in the dolby sound setting. I tweak it and the sound is better.
The max volume capacity of Xiaomi 12 pro speakers is around 20% higher than default. So to reach near maximum, Use custom equaliser in dolby settings and set all the frequency bands to 100% level. I didn't notice distortion and the volume is higher now.
