Taking a shot in the dark for a lemon-lime back cover... - G 2014 Accessories

Just picked up an XT1064 (the Consumer Cellular version) and it has the traditional black back cover on it and I'm a fan of yellow and black so, I spent the past 2 hours trying to track down one of the OEM "lemon-lime" back covers for the Moto G 2nd gen model and was unsuccessful. Seems crazy that they'd just disappear from the face of the earth but whatever so...
If anyone out there happens to have an actual Motorola OEM Lemon-Lime back cover for the Moto G 2nd gen XT1064 I'd be interested in acquiring it from you given the price isn't too crazy insane or if anyone can point me in the direction of actually locating one online from a reseller that would be awesome as well. I tried dozens of online sources and got nowhere, not even eBay has it in any of a dozen countries I checked against. Not sure why they're so hard to find but I suppose they just weren't all that popular.
Yes I realize there are other companies making yellow or similar replacement back covers but I always prefer to get the OEM hardware above cheap knockoff products. I don't intend to use a case on this phone, hence me just wanting the lemon-lime factory back cover.
Admins/Mods: if this post isn't allowed then by all means delete it as required.
Thanks for any help in tracking one of these back covers down, happy holidays to all...

Hello!
I am from brazil and its fairly easy to get one of these around here.
I also have a Moto G 2014.
I can buy the cover and then ship it to you, add me in whatsapp if you're interested. +55 21 96821-8571.
Kind Regards.

I don't use WhatsApp so I guess that won't work but thanks for the offer.

Or you could u know get whatsapp? It literally takes 30 seconds lol

Already got rid of the Moto G 2nd gen, got a 3rd gen now and of course in looking for the yellow shell for this phone it's out of stock everywhere as well. I've never seen anyone using a yellow shell except me on any Moto phone and yet I can't find 'em anywhere, that's just weird.
Anyway, can't find one for the Droid Turbo 2 I have either, guess I'll just give up and live with things the way they are.

Actually I have one. Bought 2 years ago at ebay.co.uk.
Green and yellow isn't the best color. In few weeks it became dirty with a lot of dust on the inside.
So I stopped use it.
Oh, and it makes the phone bulkier than stock one.

[Q] Return/Warranty

So I must of sat on my Moro X as when I took it out of my pocket the screen had a medium sized crack in it. I've been doing a bit if research and the 1st Gen had an offer where Motorola would repair the display free if charge once, is this still a thing? By the way I got my device at Christmas if there is any other alternative warranty options I don't know about. Thanks in advance.

I'd call and tell them that you sat down with your phone in your pocket and it broke....and then proceed to ASK if you can get a replacement due to a defective phone. Don't be too terribly surprised if you have to go through a few ranks to get work done. All in all I've had great success with motorola support. With that being said I have had to go above and beyond the general techs that answer the phone and talk to some higher up's. Go over to the motorola owners forum and make a thread on it. Get either Wendy or matt to help you out.

So I called them up and because I bought the device of the Motorola website and that it is customised they will give me a whole new device completely free!
Nice. I honestly believe that motorola in general wants to keep their customers happy. You do see these horror stories that pop up. but then again when you get your way you generally don't post a ***** in a forum. Glad it worked out well for you.

finding a new droid 4

is it possible? i am pretty fed up with all these listing of "refurbs" where i end up having to pray for it to be fully functional. i'm returning my 3rd attempt at getting a fully functional droid 4 like the first one i purchased that was in pretty scratched up but worked just fine. all these 3 attempts have had one form of connection issues: no lte baseband, constant connection drops, lost data as soon as i touch it.
i read some of the Q&As from the listings on amazon and it seems like they are all used even if its listed as "new" so im losing faith here.

Couple of weeks ago I've bought on Ebay two Droid 4 (one for me and one for my friend). The auction says "Mint condition" and phones doesn't have any scratches at all. After this couple of weeks I can say that they work in 100% and I've tested almost everything, calls, data, sensors, wifi, screen, buttons. I've flashed safestrap and some customs roms, patches, kexec kernel, overclock modules and lot of apps. In total I've spend 170 USD on this two phones (with shipment charges ofcourse).

does this seller still have more? do you have the link? i purchased from http://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorola-DR...832?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27e4f78370 and http://www.ebay.com/itm/REFURBISHED...363?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item566ee74b83
the first link was the one i originally bought that worked fine however it was pretty scratched up and the ear piece did not work well which i could forgive because i can just use earphones. after that one i died i purchased from the same seller but the one i got had connection issues (5 bars of LTE in the morning and 5KB/s transfer rate with constant "errors") so i returned it and bought from the 2nd link which had a missing LTE baseband but looked like new so i tried again and the one i have now drops connection usually when i wake it up. the image is from my trip to the verizon store yesterday and all the red lines are connection drops
im just kind of desperate at this point

Well, I cannot say much about LTE because I live in Europe and I'm using GSM.
I've bought those:

as long as its got the lte baseband it shouldnt matter. my first working device downloaded up to 2.7MB/s. the one i have now gets 3.5MB/s when it doesnt drop connection
seems like you got lucky with that deal but the listing ended already

Maybe you can email this guy and ask him does he have any more Droids? He seems to run a store.
I have a droid 4 that is in good working condition, pm me and we can discuss. I haven't used it since getting my nexus 4, and want it to go to a good home. I also have the vehicle mount, case, and screen protectors.
I actually bought a Droid 4 off of Amazon (in case my current one bites the dust - had a bit of a hardware scare). It doesn't look like it's been previously used... I haven't booted it up, so I can't tell for sure, but it looks brand new, to be honest. No scratches, smudges, dents, anything.
Granted, they aren't manufacturing these phones, anymore, so it was probably from whatever extra they have left.
i ended up ordering another droid 4 off a different seller on ebay. all the feedback left by others say their droid 4's were good so im putting faith in this one

Which Moto X version for greatest battery life?

Hi everyone!
I am new and although I just registered, I've been reading many topics and saw a lot videos regarding battery life of this device which is my 1st concern.
I still don't own this device, and before I go and purchase one, I wanted to read more opinions from users.
Regarding phone features, I need only basic stuff. I don't need voice recognition and for sure I will never use that, so I hope it can save some battery life there. Regarding active display, I also don't need that, but if that notifications would actually help battery life instead waking up the screen every 20-30 minutes, I will keep that.
Gestures, sensors, gps, location reporting, absolutely nothing there that I need, and if I need any of that anytime I guess I can always turn it on.
Anyway I am pretty much basic user. I do some web browsing, gaming, Viber, Whatsapp, I check my email few times per day, so no need for constantly refreshing and checking every few minutes. Also my wi-fi is not on most of the time, and very rarely I use 3g/4g internet, only when wi-fi is out of reach and I need to check my email or something. I am no advanced user by any means, and I like to remove most of preinstalled crap from the phone and I also don't install much, I like to keep it clean.
So with all this in mind, and with fact that I am from Europe and will be using this phone in Europe, which version of the phone and Android OS on it, do you recommend, in order to have the best and fastest UI experience with longest battery life possible? Which one should I buy, and should I upgrade it or maybe put CM on it or what?
Thanks a lot! :good:
Probably flash a basic AOSP and turn features off you don't use would give you best battery life, or keep stock 4,4.4 and turn everything off
@BrownDog99, thanks for answering.
I was also thinking that stock KK 4.4.4 would be best to keep for a while if I buy new device, because of warranty.
And then to turn off everything I don't need... On Lollipop I like those old school appeal of on screen navigation buttons, but I guess I could find some app for that.
But still I am not sure which version to buy. If only developer edition had black back, I would buy it right away.
Is there any other version that was made in US but can work in EU and has stock KK 4.4.4.? I'm not too happy to go for Chinese ones.
Looks for xt1053 from T-Mobile as you can easily unlock the bootloader or xt1052. Basically most of the models will work in Europe it only differs with the LTE support. Check the frequency of these models and see if they are supported by your carrier service in Europe.

Any model besides of 1055 (and, possibly, 1049) - these don't work with GSM.
If you need complete freedom with ROM tweaking - go for bootloader unlockable models. These are: 1050, 1053, 1056, 1058 America Movil / Rogers CA, and 1060 Developer Edition that you don't like because of its back cover ) Btw, cover can be easily replaced by qualified personel, or enthusiast.
Do have European LTE (4G) these: 1052 (better, more frequencies) and 1058.

None of Moto X models is made in US. It was assembly only. Now Motorola Mobility is bought by Lenovo, so 2015 phones are both made in assembled in Asia, as iPhone.
Thanks both of you for explanations.
I was searching for any new Moto X 1st Gen. just to compare prices and I am quite disappointed.
They are quite expensive, more expensive than around end of last year.
It is also tricky to buy on ebay or amazon because I know for a fact that lot of sellers are selling Moto x as new but they were actually used.
That is always a problem with older phones, it is hard to find sealed package.
I must admit that Developers Edition is most interesting, but I really hate that white buttons and white back. I am not sure if it is worth the cost of tools for opening, replacing buttons, back cover, lens cover and even maybe flash if damaged..
I am not sure if I will be able to find this phone NEW, with price up to 250$ with shipping to EU, and also I need to pay more than 60$ tax on that price.. With that in mind I really can't afford all additional costs for replacing back cover and buttons..
There are few models in EU for sale that are new in all black, but too expensive and only 16GB. I am not sure what to do, maybe just to be patient and wait for some good deal to pop up but I am not so sure.. thanks anyway for help!
P.S. Any information regarding battery life between Developer Edition and other editions? (assuming that OS is not updated, but original that phone came with).
Thanks!

I thought I would hate the dev edition back and buttons. I actually ended up really liking it once I got it.
I could also consider Developer edition because there are lots of nice back covers in black to choose from, but I can't find new phone, everything is used or fake advertised as new but just opened box and stuff like that..

Genuine screen replacements?

Hi all, yesterday my beloved shamu was knocked out of my hand at a party straight to the floor, resulting in a cracked glass and display, with lines of green shooting up and parts of the display going black, eventually the screen just gave up, I'm very upset
I've replaced a screen before on a phone, a samsung galaxy s3, and that went fine, so should i replace my screen, or just put up with having the S8+ I've just pre-ordered a few days before this tragedy
After using Wugs toolkit to record my screen and see my shamu still alive under the broken front, it really tugged my heart strings (I know it sounds lame but this is by far the best phone I've ever had) and has really got me considering spending out almost the cost of a used Nexus 6 to repair it
I've found this website for the UK for replacement parts
https://www.replacebase.co.uk/motorola-nexus-6-replacement-lcd-touch-screen-original/
https://www.replacebase.co.uk/motor...cd-touch-screen-assembly-with-frame-original/
These look like pretty genuine parts and are one of the first search results on google, does anyone else have a source for good parts or are these the best I'm gonna get without shipping for so much money because it comes from the US
I'll have enough money next month to be able to buy this screen and not worry about the cost of the part, and the replacement isn't hard as long as I've got the right tools.
I planned on still using my shamu even after i got the S8+ to take on trips etc and just a second phone just in case, i was also going to use it to go running and basically as a work phone
So what do you guys think, replace the screen and risk messing it up, buy another Nexus 6, though i don't feel I'll love it as much, or just go with the S8+ for everything?
Thanks all

Hello,
Ordered a HTC one m7 a few years ago and 2 LG G2 from this site: https://www.etradesupply.com/catalogsearch/result/?warehouse=0&q=Nexus+6
I don't know about shipping rate from USA, but from China to France it was $15. Nice packaging and no problem with the screens. The 3 screens looked 100% OEM. Display quality was also on par with original screen.
There is also https://www.parts4repair.com but I never ordered anything from them.
I can't speak for Samsung phone was as I simply dislike those. Nexus always gave me the best freedom and customization.
Cheers...

Is there any dual screen cases left anywhere?

Ive been searching periodically for the last couple months and I still cant find a dang second screen anywhere.
Mercari.com, If you've ever used Reverb.com for used musical instruments, it'll be familiar it's got exactly he same layout and rules etc. I managed to snag literally a brand new one, with the protective plastic film still on both the outside screen the the inside screen and even the backing of the regular case part for 93$ on there. You just got to get lucky I guess. Don't waste you time on ebay, you'll just end up with a damaged on for a bad price.

I have to be honest, with the extreme batt drain inherent with V60 dual screen....along with the risks with needlessly stressing the V60 USB-c port (due to the flexing of the dual case USB-c intermediary adapter, the one mounted at bottom of dual case, not the magnetic external) I'm not seeing why anyone would want to move forward with the V60 dual case. Best to just bag it, too many problems.
I'm sorry to say it's a terrible dual case design really
Seriously, dual screen adds so little and the battery life is SO much better using as a single phone anyway.
i just posted this on another thread here...so ill just copy and past it...
i got a couple of dual screens ...i beleive 3 for this phone (LG V 60 Thin Q) i've received them whenever i do an insurance claim ...( i drop my phone A LOT!) just checked and the LG website has em for $199.00 ( https://www.lg.com/us/mobile-accessories/lg-lmv605nausatb-v60-thinq-dual-screen ) while amazon has em between $194-$205 ...didnt really look further to be honest ( https://www.amazon.com/s?k=LG+V60+Thin+Q+Dual+Screen+case&crid=L6XAT98T5CLE&sprefix=lg+v60+thinq+dual+screen+case,aps,141&ref=nb_sb_noss_1 ) im willing to let em go for $150.00 ...the only problem, i see, ( which maybe someone here can help) is the money exchange, so your assured im not trying to rip you off, and vice versa...if any one wants to reach out just email me, at [email protected] or dm here in the messages...ill make sure the alert option is turned on...also, as an aside i got a couple of the charge adapters...ill let those go for $20 bucksView attachment 5814779
