Google Now 6.8.23.21 selected on home button not opening...any ideas? - Xiaomi Mi MIX Questions & Answers

Hey all,
Just flashed to the new Eu rom 6.12.8 and previously have had no issues selecting Google now as the home button long hold in settings which it is now but it does nothing when long holding the button. Tried changing the long hold time from .5 to 1 second and back again but still nothing. I can go to the app from Google store and open it no problem. Am I missing something in settings, something new? I appreciate any help and that is in advance.

I had this issue too, i think to fix it i set it to something else, rebooted and then set it back to google now.

Power button won't turn off screen

Hi I recently updated my stock to sense and afterwards have been noticing that the power button on top of the phone won't turn off the screen. I don't think anything is wrong with the power button because I can still long press and get the menu with power down, airplane mode, etc. I don't think its the sense UI either because it didn't start happening until I started downloading and getting rid of apps for my phone. My screen does still time out BTW and if anyone could help me solve this issue that'd be great

I have the same issue. I am running CM 5.0.6 but I think/suspect beautiful widgets may be at play here but I don't have the time to uninstall and test since I have my screen timeout to 1 minute, I just get by.

[Q] Unable to Download from AndroidMarket

Hi,
I have this issue for the past one week.
The APP downloads starts and stalls. The downloads are stuck at 'Starting Download'. I have been using captivate for the past one month, everything was ok until past one week.
I am unable to figure out whether the issue is with my mobile or something to do with my gmail account.... No idea.
Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance.
-Sattvic.
Well, I've uninstalled google talk application. Is this creating an issue?
Google talk is in some way used by the market, though I am unsure exactly how...
Generally the fix to this issue would be to go into settings, applications, manage applications, and then clear cache/clear data/force close the following apps: Market, Google Talk, checkin service.
Then reboot phone.
Unfortunately you have installed google talk... Oops ;-) don't know what to tell you there.
If you installed with Titanium Backup, donate and then restore, if you installed by some other method you may be able to sideload an apk of google talk on to your phone...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I too am unable to install anything, it started last last night and still going on.
Happened to me this morning at 4am. When i tried updating google earth. Now nothing will download nor install.
Shut off the phone. Hold down the up and down volume button and then press the on/off button... When the phone comes on, keep holding the up/down button and relesae the on/off button. A screen will pop up and then you can release the volume button. Using the up/down volume button, scroll down to clear the cache... then hit the on/off button. That may help...

Is there a difference between using wifi and 3g? I know that sometimes the market will refuse to intall via wifi and then i just use airplane mode kill the market turn off airplane mode and then use 3g to download. It fixes the issue most of the time.

Periodic blank desktop

I am having an issue with my rooted, unlocked phone on 5.1.1. Every once in a while when in an app and pressing the home button to go back to the desktop I will instead get a blank screen. The navigation buttons are visible and respond when pressed (a gray background shows briefly when pressed) but don't do anything. I can pull down the notification shade but nothing happens when I press a notification. I can press the setting button but again nothing happens. This happened once while I was playing music and the music continued to play. I have to turn the phone off and then back on again to get it to work again. I thought it might be a Nova launcher problem so I went back to the default Google launcher but it still happens. As a last resort I reloaded the factory image, re-rooted and cleared all ther data to start from scratch but it is still happening. Has anyone seen this before or have any ideas what is causing this? It is driving me crazy.
Thanks,
John

It happens on my N6 a few times. Mostly when I had changed something.
For instance changing a language textfile of the nav.app Sygic. Or after adding custom Poi's.
Reboot solves the problem.
My idea is that it is related to caching or memory management.
Root N6, 5.1.1 LMY48i, FK r31, encrypted.
Disabled most g-apps;

A head scratcher - no option to Factory Reset

I'm turning here only because I ran out of ideas to try.
My daughter has a "pure" version and last night at the airport (traveling) she told me that her home button stopped working and notification shade doesn't open past the first card that shows time/date.
I didn't believe it but sure enough, that's the case.
I googled this issue and fond a post where someone suggested to add/remove a user. I did that and the notification shade is back to normal but the home button still does nothing. Anyway, instead of wasting time on this, I wanted to Factory Reset but the freaking Reset button is disabled! Ok, so I did the power button+vol_down combination to get into boot options and when I select the Recovery option, nothing happens! Just a black screen as if it shut off.
Any idea on how to fix this and what could it be? I've never experienced anything like this on any of my Nexuses so I'm kinda pissed at Motorola and will most likely never buy anything but Nexus again.
Thanks
When selecting "recovery" from the bootloader are you using the power button or the volume up button?

Man, that's kinda embarrassing.... LOL
I was using the Power button instead of the Up button. And it's written right there on the screen.
Thank you!
But still kinda strange behavior that I'm trying to fix. Wiping right now and I'm sure I'm all set. Thanks!
Are there multiple users on the phone?
I have the same problem and just started today.
Any thing fix this?

Noticeable delay after pressing screen lock button. System reset does not help.

This issue has been driving me mad for the past couple weeks. I'm at my wits' end and I need some expert help to figure this out. Please read this post thoroughly to understand my situation, as this is not a simple matter of uninstalling some apps.
When I first got my Note 9, the screen lock button worked perfectly. The screen would immediately turn on when I pressed the button, and it would immediately turn off when I pressed it again. However, once I got the Android Pie update, the screen lock button stopped working properly. The screen still turns on immediately, but there's about a 0.5 second delay after I press the button to turn it off. It's a relatively small issue, but it's enough to bother me.
I attempted to fix this by performing a system reset. But this did not help. In fact, this issue is still present even before completing initial setup of the phone.
When you perform a system reset, the first screen you see when your phone restarts is the welcome screen. It contains a "start" button that you press to begin setup. On this screen, the lock button issue does not happen. My phone locks and unlocks correctly. On the next screen, you connect to a wifi network. After connecting to a wifi network, the lock button issue becomes present. In other words, this issue with the lock button is present before I even start using the OS, or install any apps, or really do anything at all. It seems to be triggered by connecting to a wifi network during setup.
So I figured there must be something wrong with the firmware. So I used Odin to flash an earlier firmware version. This did not solve the issue. I even tried installing an unlocked firmware version, on the offchance that my carrier (AT&T) was doing something weird. This did not help either.
I have no idea where to go from here. I thought that a system reset is supposed to completely wipe everything from your phone, so that it behaves exactly how it did when I first got it. But that's not the case. It seems like something is carrying over that's causing this issue. Does anybody have any idea what I should do?
Do you have lock instantly with power key on?

It is probably the double tap power button to open camera feature. You can toggle it off and locking will be instant.
If its already off, there my be an accessibility service listening key presses.

This delay issue is so silly but it annoys the hell out of me. Where did you turn off this feature in Pie?
Update: Found it. Just use the search box in settings and type in "camera" (or whatever it is in your language). The "double tap power" setting will get listed.
Thanks alot,
Watz
I even turned off the double press for camera app but I'm still noticing a 0.5 sec lag when i press the side key
I even restarted after changing the setting
Nothing is happening
Please help
