Bootloop to recovery [solved] - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Hello everyone, I have the problem, that my 3T boots to recovery every time I boot. The system is no more booting. What I did was, "updating" in the CM about/update menu (from unofficial cm14.1 13.12. to 14.12. ).
So maybe an open recovery script was created and booted to bootloader. Update failed but I did it manually.
From now on the phone does just only boot twrp recovery (or is it a boot loop ?). I tried to restore a backup and install the oxygen os via zip and wiped all partitions (except internal storage) but nothing helps. Does anyone know this and can give me advice ? Thank a lot in advance.
Edit:
For the OnePlus One if found an error report which look a little bit my error:
The problem is suspected to stem from the "persist" partition getting corrupted during the reboot, even though CyanogenMod doesn't use this particular location. The damaged area doesn't get fixed like other partitions because a filesystem integrity check isn't ran. It's left corrupted, and even though the area isn't needed for the OS to run, the OnePlus One boot loops anyway.

But the partition layout on the 3T seems to be different, I can see only partitions like sda etc ...

Called the 1+ support and they sent me the same file like in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/help/unbrick-unbrick-tutorial-oneplus-3t-t3515306 They offered me a telephone support slot in 2 days, but I tried myself, now the default system is booting again. If you need assistance write I can guide you as best as i can.
Good luck to you.

I follow your recommendation thanks for your assistance I fixed my OP3T,

What a mess ... after all this I wanted to install my CM backups again, but TWRP refused to boot. I had only a black screen with a white LED when going to recovery. But now after some hours I have a solution to this. You need to update Oxygen OS before going on !!
Make a full system update or flash this update via TWRP: http://downloads.oneplus.net/oneplus-3t/oneplus_3t_oxygenos_3.5.3/
After this TWRP is booting as expected.
Now I'll enjoy a beer or two or ....
Good luck to all others. If anybody needs assistance ... contact me.

never had a issue

Please help!!!! I tried flashing the update for the latest OTA, I had the full zip. I have unlocked bootloader, twrp, phh supersu, magisk and xposed. I did a nandroid backup and then clicked Wipe- Dalvik and Cache. I then flashed the zip. For 20 mins the boot logo was spinning around, so I rebooted into twrp to see what was going on. Now I can't reboot and it shows no data, it says my device is encrypted and I can't see any files. What can I do??

Was your internal storage encrypted before ?
TWRP doesn't show your internal storage and didn't ask for a password ?

fix bootloop
Boot into your recovery [Vol+ and Power]
Connect your phone to your PC
Execute the following fastboot command on your PC (More informations on fastboot)
Code:
fastboot continue
Your phone will start right away. :good:

Weird, even though for me it wasn't mountable either, reformatting worked.
I don't think adb will be able to mount it if it doesn't work in CWM. I guess one thing you could try is flash TWRP via sideload and then go to wipe, check all of the partitions, and then hit "repair filesystem". Might work, :fingers-crossed:
if not worked can you tell me whats actual is your problem:silly:

Softbrick achieved, need help

P8 Lite, I can boot into Fastboot&Rescue, normal boot gives a black screen after the Huawei logo. Recovery and force download from SD does not work.
I can boot into EMUI recovery by holding Vol Up in Fastboot, which gives me the options of Reboot, Shutdown and "Download new version and recovery" (which fails).
I tried the Unbrick steps from the Mega-Thread, and also flashed the Huawei P8 Lite version of TWRP to recovery - but it still only loads the EMUI Huawei eRecovery. Bootloader is unlocked.
Any ideas on what to do next before my girlfriend is going to kill me?
I tried everything in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/hand-fixing-bootloop-t3464740
to no avail. One thing I noticed is that the link given in the Fastboot menu links to a Chinese (?) website - http://zh.ui.vmall.com/emotiondownload.php?mod=restore - I'm not sure if this is indicative of me having a device for the East Asian markets and if there are any software differences?
Sorry for the triple post - now I actually managed to boot into TWRP (the trick is disconnecting the USB cable before booting into recovery), I wiped everything, re-tried the flash all from the Mega thread, and it's still not working - Huawei logo is shown, then black screen/power off(?).

Hi, when you power on your device to boot into EMUI, does it just show the red Huawei logo, or does it also show the boot animation (the same logo dancing and moving on the screen and then becomes static)?

Just the very static image, it doesn't even go into the animation.
Edit: this is a newly bought P8 Lite, the Box says Android 5.0, don't know if relevant?
by now I've wiped stuff with TWRP more times than I can count, and tried manually flashing the boot, recovery, cust and system of b132, b170, b190, and b564 to no avail

Alright, so, since you can get into TWRP, inside TWRP go to Advanced > File manager and get this file: /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops and paste it to the internal storage or the sdcard, then via USB paste it to your computer and upload it somewhere, I'd like to check it.

Yes, I found what I wanted, the kernel panics. What have you exactly done to the device? That would definitely help to know how to solve it.

I wish I knew! I tried to root it the same way I rooted my other P8 Lite, which worked fine in the beginning (unlocking bootloader) and ****ed up somewhere between pushing SuperSU to the device and executing it. Then I tried to flash stockrecovery.img back, and suddenly the device was broken. Next thing I did was follow the guide in the Mega Thread (I think resetting to b052) which didn't help either. Then worked my way through the suggestion in the other thread. :silly:
edit: judging by my google history, the problems started when the recovery returned a segmentation fault instead of installing SuperSU as it would've been supposed to.

It is very nice of you to look into this! Worst case scenario, the device was broken from the start and has now lost its warranty (though I booted it up once without problems right in the beginning).
For the main problem - which is my gf - I simply factory reset my own P8 Lite and put the stickers from the new one on it. Now I don't have a phone, but at least I get to keep my relationship
ninja edit: checking my terminal history, I remember trying to fix the not-installing SuperSU by trying fastboot -w and fastboot format cache as recommended elsewhere, but both failed
Playing around with it again, it seems the only fastboot commands working are fastboot flash and fastboot reboot, everything else is giving a "FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)" error, even for things like getvar
flashing b564 allows me to get into stock recovery, will try dload update now!!
EDIT: IT WORKS!!!
Things I learned from this:
- it is important to flash right update version
- use dload if you can boot into stock recovery
- recovery will only be loaded if not connected via USB, otherwise EMUI crap will launch
- vendors do not always have correct information on device package!!

For unbrick, its easy if your bootloader is unlocked.
Just need time and flash few files by adb (downgrade)and update your device's to the android version you want.
If you want I have all the necessary files.
After your device's is like at his first boot.

Unlocking / Rooting Nokia 1 stock rom guide

Step 1 (Unlocking bootloader) :
Make sure you have adb and fastboot .

Reboot bootloader.
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Unlock using key (md5code=md5 of your serial number).
Code:
fastboot oem key md5code
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
Step 2 (flashing twrp fixing encryption problem):
Download twrp :=https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=1322778262903986803
Reboot bootloader by connecting power button + usb cable + volume down and type
Code:
fastboot flash recovery TWRP-3.2.3-TwrpBuilder-2018-08-21_14.img
.
Reboot recovery by using power button + usb connected + volume up at same time .
Download fstab:=> https://gist.githubusercontent.com/androidlover5842/e5fccc739251bb75ad7cf1d8ddc36e0d/raw/a4646983b481c02462cd0cfbf8decb9edf4f2ac9/fstab.mt6735 and go to mount menu in twrp => mount vendor and update fstab using this commnd .
Code:
adb push fstab.mt6735 /vendor/etc/fstab.mt6735
make backup of boot using backup option and flash stock recovery as boot (you can get stock recovery from here )
reboot system and it should reboot into stock recovery
wipe data using stock recovery
reboot back to twrp by pressing power + usb + volume button.

I got the same problem. I found out the recovery file he linked to was that of a single SIM Nokia 1 (TA-1060) mine is a Dual Sim Nokia 1 (TA-1047)
I downloaded the TA-1047 original firmware (I googled it)
I used it to reflash boot and recovery. Then redid everything using this time the right original recovery.bin from the TA-1047 firmware and it worked
Android Downgrade
I'm planning to buy this phone but I don't like the software. Can I install Android Kit Kat on it?
Hi! I have soft-bricked Nokia 1 ta-1047(recovery bootloop). How can i unlock bootloader without checkin OEM unlock in dev settings? Thks!
Hi! I had some trouble understanding the instructions. Step 1 worked without a hitch but I ran into some problems in step 2. I'd be really grateful for some help.
Do I copy the text in the link, paste it into a .txt file and then save it to "ftsab.mt6735" in the Minimal And Adb Fastboot folder on my pc?
Do I press cancel when twrp asks me for a password? Or do I need a password? I pressed cancel.
When I go into "mount" in twrp and click on "vendor" do I then go the command window on my pc (from the adb fastboot folder) and type "adb push fstab.mt6735 /vendor/etc/fstab.mt6735"? This is what I did and it might have come with an error I'm not sure.
What is the backup of boot for? I guess it's just a safety measure. For some reason I couldn't do that because it said something about encyption (I think, unless I'm getting mixed up with before) so I had to skip that step and go onto flashing the recovery. The instructions now say "flash stock recovery as boot (you can get stock recovery from here)". Is the stock recovery the "recovery.bin" file and do I put that in the adb and fastboot folder? I did that and typed "fastboot flash recovery recovery.bin" in the command window. Was that right or not?
The instuctions say "restart the system" Is that from the twrp menu? I restarted the phone via twrp but it didn't restart into stock recovery it restarted into the normal operating system. I knew then that I'd done something wrong. I then turned off the phone and tried accessing the stock recovery by pressing the volume up and power on and it started in twrp! Am I getting confused? Please can someone help me! Thank you!

Thanks. But I'm still not sure. I confess I'm a novice. I actually ended up bricking my phone because I went on to do something wrong. I'll get another phone this week to try and root again, hopefully successfully this time. Isn't the step to make a backup of the boot really important because we have to flash that boot near the end? I thought it was necessary. I also wonder whether I should have typed "fastboot boot recovery.img" instead of "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" because the instructions say "flash stock recovery as boot"? Edit: Perhaps I'm wrong again

Did you manage to get a backup of the boot?
I can have no access in the udev/ etc.... Can you please explain the following steps how to do it? is it a linux command that needs to be done on a linux running computer or does it works on Windows too?
i was indeed happy that it completed the backup to my external SD Card made with Magisk a patched boot image, but doesn't seem to be rooted after all, what next? it says every time Magisk is not installed do i have to flash it in minimal ADB

Rooting this for now is a gamble there is only 1 stock ROM to flash and it's for the UK single SIM varient of the Nokia 1 only thing you can have is root and twrp and maybe flash a gsi but most of them are still buggy if you can flash stock and stay that way untill further development.

Hi, try holding the power button for a few seconds and then releasing it and pressing volume up.
For the record, I managed to root my ta 1060 phone. Thanks everyone. I think I had a problem initially because twrp asked for a password due to phone encryption and I ignored it. I managed to bypass that password screen by not rebooting after flashing twrp, instead going straight into twrp and following the instructions.
I've now got a problem getting usb otg to work. I've added the files android.hardware.usb.host.xml, handheld_core_hardware.xml and tablet_core_hardware.xmls. It's showing as enabled in all the app checkers but Usb Otg Helper says E: Mount directory could not be created, E: This app will not work, OTG mass storage not supported?, NTFS write support failed(no fuse). That's not a topic for here though. If anyone can help, can they pm me please

No, when I found it asked for a password I realised I shouldn't have rebooted the system and so I wiped the data and flashed twrp again and no more password.

ASUS ROG2 SOFT BRICK

Hi ,
I have an ASUS ROG2 and I'm experiencing quite a problem here , I would like to know if this can still be rescue or not? or maybe I'm missing some steps here. here's what I've done so far.
Before it got to this dilemma my phone is suffering from autoshutdown so i rooted my phone using magisk and applied the thermal mode by one of the OP here. everything is working fine , the phone is not shutting down until today. it suddenly restart before me and it is stuck in ROG Logo.
what I've done.
1) i flash the stock boot img for my firmware version 2009.49 using fastboot flash boot 2009.49stock.img both slot A & B then followed by fastboot reboot so it can boot to system but it is still stock at the ROG Logo
2) i downloaded a RAW Firmware of 2009.49 , put my phone into fastboot mode. i made sure it was detected by the PC using the command fastboot devices and surely it was. i execute the flashall_AFT.cmd and waited , after it finishes my phone reboots but still stuck at the ROG Logo and here's the problem.
I reboot my phone into bootloader , scroll to Recovery after pressing Power button to select it , it boots and stuck at the ROG Logo at this point i'm confused since i need to factory reset it. so i downloaded TWRP for ROG2 Android 10 the one i usually use then i tried to boot from it using fastboot boot twrp10.img , it only boots and stuck at the ROG Logo again
3) I tried to flash a firmware using EDL mode , everything went well without any errors and there's the success message in Xiaomiflashtool , i reboot the phone to recovery and it is still stuck in ROG Logo.
any guesses? I'm kinda lost here since both RAW and EDL are not working.

You could try booting into TWRP 3.4.0-0 Q Unofficial by mauronofrio without flashing ( fastboot boot twrp-3.4.0-0-I001D-Q-mauronofrio.img ) , then copy the zip over to root of internal storage, either 2009.49 or lastest 2012.65, from here. Be sure to check during flash which slot gets flashed first. Then repeat the process, booting twrp so that you can flash the other inactive slot. If you want to be sure you have changed slots, click on reboot in twrp and see which is active before flashing. Good luck
Hopefully flashing both slots successfully will do it. Let us know how you get on.

I used the TWRP you've linked. and i'm afraid that it is stuck on the rog logo again..
what i've done. ' fastboot boot twrpQ3400.img ' after i sent that command , the phone reboots and instead of going to twrp , it goes to rog logo and stuck there.
is there anyway i could check if there's partition? it feels like the phone has no partition that's why it is always going back to the rog logo.

Did you change the name of the twrp file? the fastboot boot twrp-3.4.0-0-I001D-Q-mauronofrio.img cmd must have an identical name to the file, which as the original should be twrp-3.4.0-0-I001D-Q-mauronofrio.img
and just to be sure, you have the twrp img in fastboot folder, correct?

Yes i did rename it as twrpQ3400.img and yes also , it is in the same folder as my adb & fastboot folder enviroment.
i'll try a different approach maybe using QFIL? although i don't know where to start like finding the XML / Programmer or firehose..
any ideas?

Well i'm running out of ideas, never used QFIL so wouldn't know. since you cannot boot into twrp (i'm assuming you didn't relock bootloader? twrp won't work with locked bootloader), you could try this thread. be sure to use the supplied 1910.35 images as it tried and tested. read posts 1 and 2 at the very least, post 2 has useful steps
if successful, you'll then need to update 1910.64 before android 10 2004.60 to start with, then up to latest

yes , i didn't lock my bootloader since i can still see the bootloader unlock message.. i'm also running low in ideas , for worst it is a bricked phone at best. i'll check the link.
thanks for helping. i'll still update this thread to maybe update u as well.
edit: i checked the link , i already did the xiaomi flash tool approach on the link.. everything was a success with no errors... maybe i shud give qpst tool a try? although i'm not familiar using it.

did you remember to shut the phone down after successfully flashing, boot into recovery and wipe data, then reboot? as per the instructions...?

yes , ofcourse since the phone is in EDL mode the only way to shut it down is by using Power + volume up + volume down like around 15 seconds then phone will shutdown since the 9008 COM in device manager will be gone this means that it's no longer in EDL mode. i wait like 1minute before i power it up to recovery by power + volume down then scroll to recovery in bootloader. then with no luck still stuck to Rog logo..
it's like the recovery partition is gone...

Thanks man , i'm searching for the qfil approach but i'm getting a sahara error. currently searching for fixes
edit : i manage to boot the phone using the link you've provided by using QFIL approach and not thru XiaomiFlashTool
the phone boots successfully and i can use the recovery again ! although there's a problem , it can't read my sim card and everything is like stock android without any skins or what.. i used the RAW firmware to update it but the problem with stuck logo is back :/
gonna re-flash using QFIL and i'll check some more ~ maybe use TWRP and flash the firmware there no?
edit: the one from the link is not working , stuck at rog logo.. but the one from the internet i was able to boot to system but can't detect simcard , also when plugging to PC it will go to crashdump mode.
also can't flash TWRP will result in stuck at ROG logo :/
was able to boot the phone but can't connect to wifi and is locked by google frp :/ any guides i can follow to remove that FRP without wifi connection ?
Sorry bud, really not sure what's going on with your phone or know much more. Good luck with it tho

Actually, if you now have recovery, what about booting into twrp and flashing lastest 2012.65 zip from asus website, twice - both slots. see if that fixes your wifi issue
As you said using the QFIL approach worked to boot into system and recovery is back - boot to twrp from that state

Question Can't install fastboot roms

Hi everyone, I'm writing this post to ask for your help regarding an issue that is driving me to exhaustion. I also apologize in advance for any errors. It all started after trying to overclock the gpu with the konabless app, previously the app made me make a backup of the vendor_boot image in case of post modification problems, so next i edited the frequencies of the gpu, I applied the changes, rebooted and BOOM, a phone freezed at mi logo. So I rebooted in twrp to reflash the stock vendor_boot image, and for my great intelligence I flashed it on the boot image partition, and what did I get? A phone stuck in fastboot.
Oh well, a phone that turns on in fastboot is not a big problem you'll say, and I thought the same as i previously had a problem and solved it by reflashing the stock rom in fastboot, so I took my nice computer (actually it's a 12 year old pc that runs on carbon, but that does its job), I opened the mi flash tool, connected the phone, selected the fastboot rom, precisely the EEA 12.5.7.0 (like the one natively installed before the damage) and started the installation. 20 minutes later ... error: cannot load bla bla bla, ok ok, i seached various solutions on Google and tried every metods, i changed the directory of the mi flash, of the rom, I updated the version of mi flash, i installed both on C:/ drive, reinstalled the drivers, i edited the batch file to remove the anti rollback but nothing, it arrives at flashing the super image and after some minutes it fails the flashing. Before you ask, YES, the bootloader was unlocked. I also tried to flash the rom in twrp, but ... the phone no longer had the twrp. The only way to start it was via command (fastboot boot twrp.img), the onekey injection did not make it permanent, and connecting the phone to the pc it revealed the device, but not the internal memory, I tried to make a format data but nothing. I managed to make it permanent only once, manually flashing only the vendor_boot and boot images in one of the boot_ * slots, in that case incredibly the pc also detected the internal partition, I copied the flashable rom and ... the twrp said to restart the recovery for I don't remember what, but basically I couldn't install the rom via twrp. At that point I finally gave up and took the phone to an authorized xiaomi service center where they fixed it (bye bye 25€), I don't know how exactly, I would opt through edl mode I think, and now i have my working phone...but heeeeeey, they flashed me the 12.0.1 TW version, not the EEA... Ahhhhh come on. They also re-locked the bootloader, so... agaaaain i re-unlocked the bootloader, this time i downloaded the unofficial tool xiaomi flash tool v2, it installed every needed driver, i clicked on "my phone works and i want to mod it", this time i tried to flash the global rom 12.5.7.9 and when it arrives at flashing the super image IT FAILS (fast boot flash_all failed, exit code:1, output: flash super error), and like a nightmare the phone was stuck in fastboot again, fool once but never fool twice, this time I had previously made a twrp backup of everything except the data partition, I install it and the phone restarts perfectly, I also notice that despite the attempted flash of the rom in fastboot after restoring the twrp backup without the data partition, nothing has been deleted from the data partition. So benevolent gods of xda, how the heck should I change rom region? Thanks for your attention and I hope I haven't stressed you out any more than I already am.
you are probably uploading rom miflashem pro and hence this error - I had the same. Use miflash's built-in pro miflash and it should go - it worked for me

1/ OMG, take your time, espace your words, compact your questions...
2/ For old configuration a user have fix adb/drivers/detection problem with an another driver pack, and a old is btter than the lastest for some old configuration (so if your conputeur jhave 12 years, maybe...)
So try to install this drivers here
Change your USB port and verify your cable
3/ If problem occur, change computer (family/friend computer), just for flash, for be sure it's a communication/usb/detection problem
PS : Finally, why trying to overclock a soc already overclock by Snapdragon and always overheat ? It's really want finding problems ^^
