[help] ADB sideload 'cannot read' while installing stock ROM - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Hey guys I have the OnePlus 3T A3010 (Chinese Version) trying to install OxygenOS v3.5.3 (i know it's not the latest) from "downloads.oneplus .net"
I have:
- Windows 10 x64
- Installed 15 seconds ADB Installer v1.4.3
- Rebooted PC
- Enabled developers option on mobile
- Enabled USB Debugging on mobile
- Verified MD5 hash of zip file for "OnePlus3TOxygen_28_OTA_027_all_1611222319_884473ff95304c30.zip"0e2b4f9c7e7a1edf533f0d436ba48d95 (file is not corrupted, have re-downloaded and tested as well)
- Tried Administrative privilege (run as Admin) for CMD
- Tried renaming the .zip file
- Tried another PC that has Android SDK instead of "15 seconds ADB Installer v1.4.3" still no luck same error
- I go to recovery mode by holding vol+down and power
- Selected "Install from ADB" and "Ok"
- Plug the USB cable
- I can see the device while prompting "adb devices"
But i receive this error:
Code:
adb sideload OnePlus3TOxygen_28_OTA_027_all_1611222319_884473ff95304c30.zip
loading: 'OnePlus3TOxygen_28_OTA_027_all_1611222319_884473ff95304c30.zip'
* cannot read 'OnePlus3TOxygen_28_OTA_027_all_1611222319_884473ff95304c30.zip' *
I'm wondering do I need OxygenOS for A3010 model ? Are they separate for US and Chinese ? Is that why it's not loading?

Try minimal adb 1.30, and yeah rename that zip to something shorter. The A3010 doesn't require a special ROM, it can be sideloaded to all OnePlus 3T variants.
Use a different cable if you have one too.

I've tried them already.
I've got it working. I've just copied the file into the internal storage of the phone and used the local file to flash the ROM instead of using ADB.

Hello, same issue. Someone has solved? I cannot flash stock rom, neither via adb nor within stock recovery (no way to go to internal storage)
Thx

How to wipe internal storage and install rom via ADB sideload using TWRP

Recently i wanted to a full wipe including internal storage on my nexus 5 and since nexus 5 does not have external storage i found it a bit tricky to flash a rom again...
so,here im going to explain the easiest and simplest way to install a rom via adb sideload on nexus 5 using TWRP after a complete wipe
I am not responsible for bricked devices.
Please do some research if you have any concerns about adb sideload
BACKUP YOUR DATA FIRST
1.Download the file and place it on desktop View attachment Nexus5.zip
2.boot your device into recovery, wipe everything and connect it to pc and make sure drivers are installed. if not do as follows:
open device manager in control panel and if drivers are already installed, it shows something like ANDROID ADB INTERFACE,
if not,it shows some name with yellow symbol..
right click on it and select update drivers and select browse my computer and select let me pick..
click next > have disk>browse> and select the usb_drivers in downloaded file> open > open > ok
now it shows as ANDROID ADB INTERFACE..
3.In TWRP, select advanced and choose sideload option.
4.open command prompt and change the directory to where you downloaded the file ( easy if on desktop )
to open command prompt: win+r>cmd
for changing directory: cd desktop > cd nexus5
5.Now type adb devices in command prompt and it should show list of devices with your device code name and mode as sideload mode.
if not install drivers again.
6.copy your ROM zip file to the folder 'Nexus5' which you downloaded.
7.type adb sideload romzipname
8.now it starts copying and wait till it shows 100%. after copying it automatically starts installing.
when the installing is finished,it shows reboot system. reboot and njoy :highfive:
Note: If stuck while flashing rom, hold power and volume down until it reboots to fastboot then go to recovery and repeat the same procedure.
Please hit the 'thanks' if this helped you.

Did you copy the rom file to Nexus5 folder?
Why not use WugFresh's tool.... that thing does everything.

Help
So, I have/had a N5 on stock 4.4.4 rom, rooted & Xposed installed with TWRP & a lollipop preview on MultiRom.
Was installing the new Lollipop .zip. In an act of hurried stupidity, I wiped my phone, including the internal storage.
Which for some reason also wiped my NANDROID backup. I thought that is not supposed to be wiped even when doing an internal storage wipe, BUT it did.
Now, all i have is TWRP on my phone with no rom installed.
I tried connecting my phone to the pc to see if i can just transfer the rom file onto the internal memory, but nothing shows up when i connect my phone to PC.
after some searching, I ended up in this thread.
The problem is, when i connect my phone to the PC, the phone doesn't show up in the device manager.
So i cannot install the drivers & android SDK itself.
So, How do i Install a rom onto it?
I have a PC & a MAC, so i can use either of the machines. But i don't have much technical knowledge about stuff, I did all the above modifications with the help of tutorials & guids. so ELI5 please.
Please help!
Thank you.

[HELP] Android not booting [URGENT]

It's a bit urgent to get solved, I'm at college, and that's the only way to talk with my parents, being 1 or 2 days without answering them would be a problem, since they will start to get worried.
Phone: Motorola Moto G 2014, XT1063
Using Team Win Recovery Project v2.8.0.1
Basically I was trying to update to the Android 5.0, since I had my phone rooted, I decided to go with an customized ROM.
DIdn't understand why, but it f**ed up.
Basically I cleaned everything, and in an act of desperation I also lost my sdcard, I've been trying to install the ROM through sideload, but it's not working, I get the error *failed to write data protocol fault no status*, and the phone keeps rebooting, and stuck in the "WARNING BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED"
I appreciate any kind of help, as I said, it's really important to solve this ASAP.
Thanks in advance!
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum for more relevant answers.
Stand by
Good luck

1) download TWRP 2.8.4.0 and install it through fastboot.
2) Since you have no sdcard we will use the mtp capability of twrp
-- Boot into your newly installed recovery. Check the version
-- Go to Mount and disable mtp and unmount everything. Now enable mtp. You should see that Data is mounting automatically and should appear on your Computer.
-- Transfer your ROM (I recommend The Titan Prime Rom for XT1063/64. It's based on stock and much more polished than CM12)
-- Download and transfer pa-gapps (MICRO MODULAR PACKAGE).
-- Download and transfer latest SuperSU (min version 2.45 is required by our device).
-- Wipe Dalvik, Cache, System and Data
-- Now Flash ROM, GApps and SuperSU. reboot and wait. it will take a couple of minutes.
Doppel u r right. follow doppel steps.

The device appear as offline in the fastboot, sometimes even doesn't appear, where can I get the drivers?
I searched for naked versions, and "universal" ones, but none seems to work.

You can get Motorola drivers here. You probably also need a recent version of adb and fastboot. You can ge it here Minimal ADB and Fastboot. Install it.
start "Minimal ADB and Fastboot" by navigating to the Start Menu Folder you choose to create during installation or the desktop shortcut you choose to create and select "Minimal ADB and Fastboot"
You should now see a command window open.
Put your device in fastboot mode and connect usb.
Now just do verify type this command
Code:
fastboot devices
the output should show something like this (your number is different)
Code:
fastboot devices
ZX1D225X69 fastboot
now put your recovery.img into the directory where your command window is open and start flashing
Code:
fastboot flash recovery NAME_OF_RECOVERY.img

You need a wall charger. USB from pc does not supply enough power. And you need at least 25% (ish) otherwise fastboot will refuse do do anything.

On the MOUNT and UNMOUNT processing I don't see anything on my PC, I don't even know how to unmount it. It only appears Enable MTP and disable.
How am I supposed to load the ROMS?
Tried with sideload but got an errror : "Error executing updater binary in zip .."
Seems like the drivers aren't working properly, I have Windows 8.1, on the site it doesn't talk about it, this might be the problem? Cause I instaled motorola device manager, I scan for drivers but it doens't find anything, and the phone apperas with the yellow triangle on the Device Manager.

Stuck on Boot After installing SuperSU Binary [URGENT][Solved]

[Update]: Now it says no OS installed in TWRP. I think I have wiped the os by mistake. Just need to know how to install cm13 image using fastboot or ADB. Please help!
I wasn't aware if SuperSU works with CM13 and I installed the app, on request to update the binaries, I selected TWRP/CWM method because the normal mode didn't work. After the reboot the phone won't load into os, its stuck on the CM boot screen. I don't have a CM image on my sd therefore unable to flash again either. Is there a way to push files (cm img) to my phone? I have adb/adb over network enabled as well from developer options. I just need a way to put files into my sd card and flash using TWRP. Please help! this is urgent! :crying:
[SOLVED][HOW TO]
This is in a situation where you've messed up your system and don't have the image file stored in your sd card for quick flashing. Make sure you're using the latest USB drivers and ADB binaries 1.0.32+
- Get into TWRP
- Swipe to ADB Sideload and enable it
- On your desktop, open command and type "Adb sideload filename.zip" [Filename here is the filename of your flashable zip/rom]
- Once you the installation finishes, reboot twrp normally into system

MTP shows as enabled - But the device doesn't show up in my pc. I'm connected through USB in TWRP recovery. I have android debugging also enabled, when trying adb push command, it shows adb devices attached as empty.
[Update]: I am trying to push the file using ADB Sideload in TWRP, the error I get is my adb needs to be updated to 1.0.32. How do i get updated adb 1.0.32?
[Update 2]: So I managed to update by ADB on desktop, and push the zip file using adb sideload in twrp. The zip is being installed as I write this. Lets hope this works!
[Update 3]: Got the rom to install via ADB sideload, though all my apps and settings are gone Anyway, I got the phone back for immediate use. Phew!

sideload connection failed when installing magisk from adb

Hi
I am trying to install magisk 16.7 on my doogee s60 Lite android 7.0 phone. Sticking to v16 in hope google pay works.
I have unlocked bootloader in dev options, restarted into phone's native recovery mode, selected apply update from sd card, selected magisk zip file but after verification install aborted.
So I chose update from adb, which got me into bootloader, prompt now send the package
connected phone to windows 7 machine with drivers installed
adb devices
-> started successfully
typed adb sideload magisk-v16.7.zip/
and here is the response:
->sideload connection failed: no devices found
How to fix that?
You either fastboot flash the boot image that you first patch through the Magisk Manager, or you flash the Magisk zip in a custom recovery. Using the stock recovery or adb sideload won't work.

No OS Installed VTR-L29, EMUI 9.0 (Can't download stock)

I have the VTR-L29C605E2R1P8B119-log (9.0.1.119), EMUI 9 (android pie) of the P10 and I accidentally deleted my system, with only fastboot and twrp working. My EMUI erecovery is broken since there is no official global PIE update for the P10 (except the chinese) It will say "Failed to get package info"
I need help on how to fix this because I have tried downgrading and no avail.
Tried using funkyhuawei well, i'm getting "Failed to get package info" and i can assure you that the dns was working, and my oem isn't damaged.
Tried using DC-Pheonix but then it says phone not supported.
What a waste of 30$ but it's better than wasting 200$ for a new motherboard.
Tried using the Dload method. Software Install Failed (using the same rom)
Tried doing the HWOTA but it won't write to my recovery because it's set to "Recovery" not "recovery_ramdisk" I tried changing it's script to recovery_ramdisk, but when I tried to boot up to twrp and it gave me func 11 and 2 errors.
Tried flashing the images... Well, I couldn't flash system because of the "cannot load system.img" file.
Tried using oreo images, failed.
Tried using the Multi-Tool for huawei, well i thought it worked but it didn't because it flashed the system and everything else (the program doesn't know that the ramdisk is inside system) it gave me the error #1 at the end. Still didn't boot.
Tried flashing AOSP Roms and I bam it didn't work.
Do you guys have anymore solutions?

I did. But without adb working, I can't get it to work since it will look for devices/emulators which needed adb and it seems like my phone isn't responding to those.
If you flash the twrp image from the archive of the post I linked before, does it boot up and is adb then available?

Nope. It does not detect the adb.
Can you try this TWRP please, eventhough it's for Oreo.
If this isn't gonna work do something for me:
- Boot into your working TWRP and open the terminal (under Advanced).
- Type: "ls /dev/block/platform"
- You should get something like "FF3B0000.UFS" or other, please post in the next reply.
- Now type "ls /dev/block/platform/RESULT/by-name" - for RESULT enter the output of the first command.
- Please post the recovery and erecovery lines from the output in your reply.
With this output I should be able to write a small script, but I can't guarantee that this will work.
EDIT: I made a script based on my UFS device. Please do the commands above first.
If it shows "ff3b0000.ufs", then proceed with my script:
- create a new directory on your sdcard (it has to be sd, not internal!) called "downgrade" (without qoutes).
- Download my zip package and put it into /sdcard/downgrade
- Download your desired firmware - it has to be the same region C605! (Links for B374: update.zip, update_full_VTR-L29_hw_la.zip, update_data_full_public.zip)
- put all three zip files into /sdcard/downgrade and rename "update_full_VTR-L29_hw_la.zip" to "update_hw.zip".
- Boot into TWRP, tap in Install and navigate to the sdcard/downgrade directory.
- Install downgrade.zip. If there's any output, post it here.
The device will reboot itselfs and should start into Huawei's recovery, which should install the firmware.
Download my script here.

Thanks for trying to help me, but I think this would work. I tried the ls /dev/block/platform command but it gave me the "sh ls /dev/block/platform: not found. " Is my device unrecoverable now? I tried to flash but gave me the error: 255 Maybe a backup twrp of kernel, cust, oeminfo, product, recovery, system, sys img, vendor, vendor img, version would work if i use the restore button in twrp but I don't have any backups because I forgot to. If you have any it might work I think?
[Solved]
Thanks for your help, I did a bit of changes though to your script.
Instead of of=/dev/block/platform/ff3b0000.ufs/by-name/recovery_ramdisk_a
I changed it to: of=/dev/block/sdd37
It installed the update well.
This explained that the other tools like HWOTA8 didn't work. sdd37 is only on eMMC device which are rare. I forgot that the eMMC devices have a different path tree under /dev than UFS devices.
I'm glad that this works now.
The script is based on HWOTA and I use this in my Update Guide, too.
have u tried to "reinstall" the FULL OTA (the version that u have installed) via HuRu updater?
